Her heels clicked authoritatively as she carried the files down the long hall to Mr. Agreste's office. Nathalie had admired him for years... his artistry, his vision, his determination that made him rise from nothing to the universally respected designer that the world now knew him as...and she was now beginning to admire him even more, even in spite of the long string of murders he couldn't seem to stop. He was good at heart, in spite of it all, and she knew that she would help him accomplish whatever his heart desired, no matter what it cost.

It had all begun when she had just been hired. It was a dream job, as an assistant to the illustrious Mr. Gabriel Agreste and his beautiful family - - a wife and son-- until 2 years ago, when the wife unexpectedly fell into a coma. That was when Mr. Agreste had set his sights upon the 2 legendary miraculous, and had loosed angry, vengeful akumatized people into a crowded city. The only things that those miraculous couldn't correct were the lives cut short by the human weapons aimed Paris.

In his mourning over his ever--sleeping wife, Agreste became more and more obsessed with her. He cared more concerned with her, and less concerned with all of the rest of the world around him. Other people became mere objects in the way of his pursuit of the cure for his wife's condition, objects to push aside, cast away, or use...even his own son.

Nathalie placed the papers she was carrying on Mr. Agreste's desk, frowning as she thought of the son. Mr Agreste's high expectations for the child remained, even while all of his attention was devoted to his new obsession. As a result, Adrien was forced to work long hours, in addition to school. He had to model like a purebred cat, taught that he was valued primarily for his appearance, not allowed to have his own dreams. Every moment of his life was a packed schedule designed for him to promote his father's brand. Of course, she knew he snuck out of the house sometimes. She was glad that she could arrange his schedule to provide some times for him to do so, and to act like a normal teenager.

Nathalie knew it was only Mr Agreste's passion that kept him away from his son, and that had caused him to make so many mistakes. A passion that only intensified when his dream became an impossibility, when the sleeping woman hidden in the basement became asleep in death. Mr. Agreste might be in denial, but Nathalie wasn't. No, she merely knew that she would help the man she loved to do the impossible, even if she would always be second place to the beautiful woman who was his wife.
