The moonlight shone through the mighty pine trees, as a dark brown tabby tom dragged a small calico she-cat beside him. One of his eyes barely open through the thick layer of blood trailing down the side of his face, his fur matted and bloody all across his back with one ear deaf from the clots stuck inside. But he did not care for his own issues; this she-cat was badly injured… far more than he was. Her breathing was heavy yet shallow as she stared wide eyed out before her, a long trail of blood leading down from the path that he dragged her down.

"Spottedflower, please stay with me! Stay for them!" he pleaded.

The she-cat's round belly had long shallow marks running down, as small paws started to kick from the inside out. But the she-cat's strength was very clearly failing her, as her eyes struggled not to roll in their sockets. Her claws that flexed to keep her body moving slowly losing their rhythm as the dark brown tabby pressed his muzzle under her heavy belly and heaved upwards, struggling to support the newfound weight on his shoulders he tried to press forward still.

The she-cat just stared out before her as the tom licked her muzzle. "I-I got you, stay with me!"

As the scent of the other clan mates neared ever closer he looked over his shoulder at the group of cats dragging the small body of what once was an apprentice to a shallow grave, its broken and beaten lifeless body still leaving a trail of blood behind it all the way and the eyes glazed over and jaw limply being dragged across the grass. As the dark brown tabby tom hung his head in sorrow, before pressing towards the camp as his gut hung in his throat.

As he struggled forward his limbs trembled underneath him, but he pushed past the entrance to collapse in the celaring. "C-Cinder–" he coughed out an exasperated cry towards the tall tree in the center of the camp, where a small dark gray she-cat poked her head through the entrance before rushing forward to his side. "I knew that we shouldn't have sent her out there, oh ancestors you both look horrible… Brindleheart can you give me a hand with Raggedstripe!" the she-cat yowled at the tabby she-cat, who lifted her head up before limping over to them.

"I got him, you handle Spottedflower." The she-cat meowed as she helped the dark brown tabby up to his paws, stumbling forward a little he watched through bloody sight as the medicine cat treated his mate.

The warm den made the fire from his wounds burn harder, as he collapsed on his side and looked across the clearing at the pale ginger she-cat who lay with her back turned to him. He placed a paw on Brindleheart's leg and looked up at her. "S-She's… she needs to–!" he gasped and as she pulled away he flexed his claws to get a grip on her, his one good eye looking pleadingly at her. "The kits, we need… to…"

"Don't worry your head off, please get some rest… Cinderberry has this under control." The tabby she-cat urged, before turned towards the den entrance and disappeared through the gap.

Raggedstripe sighed as he watched her leave, his head throbbing like no-cat knows. His fur fluffed out as the sticky feeling of his dried blood tangled his bristles, as he looked at the other cats sitting around in the den. Some with worse scars than he did, as he heaved breaths in and out; he noticed the tiny little cat barely over the ae of a kit lying there' Just barely visibly breathing through its lungs. Raggedstripe closed his eyes and looked away with his ears pinned flat against his head.

Blood was thick in the air, and the screeches from down in the direction of the nursery. He opened one of his eyes but the sound just made his heart ache, pressing both of his paws against his ears and trying to block out the sound. As he prayed to his ancestors he hoped for the best outcome, he could not deny the horrible sounds of pain that didn't seem to stop for a breath on end. His fur bristled and his hackles spiked higher.

But as he listened it stopped, and the clearing outside was silent. A moment later the dark brown tabby managed to open his eyes and looked outside; he could see the dark gray she-cat emerge from out of sight. The medicine cat paced back and forth with slanted eyes as her tail swished back and forth, as she looked back at the den before going back to pacing in uncertainty with hackles rising. As raggedstripe's own worries rose as well, as the she-cat pressed into the den with her eyes looking down.

"Is she…?"

"I did everything I could, you have two sons and a daughter," the dark gray she-cat answered, "But, I am so… so sorry Raggedstripe." She murmured, before turning around and leading.

Raggedstripe understood as he curled up into a tight ball, his claws unsheathing and his eyes closing tight.

Allegiances:

NeedleClan: The oldest of the four clans, full of shadow and uncertainty. The warriors of the dense pines lie the furthest away from the rest of the clans, with territory more than capable of handling a clan of their size. The clan has several levels of rankings in the warriors, as simple and decisive the ranks are what the kits are born into regardless. There is no in or out of the lowest ranks without the guidance of the leader.

The inner circle consisting of the future of the leaders and deputies, these are the most loyal and likely to be chosen as a mate for one of the two highest ranks and the only ones who could hold upper power through this right. The secret holders of the leaders and deputies, these are also known for infighting for position as deputy. The names are based upon something dangerous, deadly, and/or powerful.

The second layer is from which medicine cat apprentices are drawn from, these are the patrol leaders and the hunt command. A warrior from this position has the possibility of reaching the inner circle, but the trial to gain the ranks is long and hard. These warriors are more on the vigil side and tend to be the front of the patrols to the ancients gathering. Their names should have some merit as to not be Outer Circle, but not enough to warrant an inner circle.

And finally the outer circle, where prey runs low and the cats even lower. No charge of command stems from this group, and they are the most likely to be sent into battle first. The least popular and regularly monitored part of the clan, these are more of the suspected to be traitors in the clan. As they are not the highest in the clan, their names are nothing of any special. Such names could be flowers or small insignificant things.

Elders and queens are the only ones who aren't separated, but only the elders do not have higher class.

A/N: I have been having trouble writing anything else, and the prologue is being a pain in the butt right now. I'm sorry but I might legitimately cancel the rest of Old Flames Burn because trying to write it is tiring.
