Carnage: the killing of a large number of people. See also: slaughter, massacre, butchery. Twenty four tributes enter the arena of the 95th Annual Hunger Games, only one can return once twenty three lay dead around them. And no one escapes without blood on their hands. Rated T for violence and language.

1. Keep Them Entertained

Aurelio stood alone in the Control Room, gazing down at the empty seats, at the blank computer screens, the stationary hologram pads. Soon, this room would be bustling with energy, and Aurelio would miss quiet moments such as this one. The reapings began in two days, and the life of a Gamemaker would become hectic with final Games preparations and watching the tributes and making sure the public is satisfied.

The last part was, in some ways, the most difficult.

Capitol citizens were unpredictable. What worked last year would not keep them entertained this year. They expected variety, a new arena with unique twists and more gruesome ways to kill the district children. Aurelio always did his best to provide, and he had worked up quite a reputation over the years. He wanted his name to go down in history as one of the best Heads of all time. He would work to secure that title.

Of course, it wasn't just the Head Gamemaker who made the Games. Gamemakers had a large part, yes, but the tributes were the real stars of the Hunger Games. They were the ones who fought, who bled, who died. And the one to emerge victorious became famous nation-wide.

Aurelio thought back to last year. To the tributes, to Marlin Cascade, the victor from District Four. The Games had been rather uneventful as far as they go. Marlin was an underdog victor, one nobody thought would win. So it was to the shock of everybody when he managed to take down the girl from Two to be crowned victor.

Boring tributes made boring Games.

President Prime personally reminded Aurelio of that.

Keep them entertained.

So I'm back.

To be completely honest, this story is my way to practice writing in third person. That's not to say I'm not excited for it, because I definitely am. I just realized that since I write in first person so much, I kind of forgot how to write in third.

I'd like to say this story will have a consistent uploading schedule, but I have no idea what will happen. I'll just get chapters out when I can. Tribute list is on my profile if you want to check it out!
