This story will primarily be based on the Tsugumomo manga.
The sun slowly rose on a temple like complex. This place was the Tsuzura temple an organization responsible for the training and appointment of exorcists. They use tsukumogami to exorcise these threats. In a room in this vast complex was a young slightly-petite girl with short wavy purple hair and wearing a short robe that extends slightly past her waist like a short skirt, combined with thigh high socks. This was Kyouka the Flute Tsukumogami. She was originally owned by a blind musician who praised the sound she made. She changed hands many times often falling in with bandits. Having enough of the poor treatment, ran away and joined Mayoiga. A pocket dimension and paradise where tsukumogami could be free from humans. The concealment technique they used was slowly fading, and the paradise they inhabited for almost a 1000 years was ending. This did not mean they would go quietly into the night and activated a fail safe to ensure their existence.
Like they had done before the objective was to kill the resident God of the Land and take its stone shard. Rather than a frontal assault they slowly waited in the shadows, observing their foes and predicting the right time to strike. Some however were discontented saying the time to strike was now, but were dismissed by the ruling council saying it was foolhardy. To prove them wrong the axe tsukumogami Genbu launches a premature assassination alongside Kyouka and 2 other tsugumomo. The plan failed spectacularly with Genbu getting killed by the scissors tsugumomo Akito and his 2 companions meeting a similar fate. Unlike her co conspirators Kyouka was spared by her opponent and temporarily transformed back into object form.
She was kept in this state while events beyond Mayoiga's predictions transpired. Leading to a top rated danger being created in the process. Reawakening in a cell she was asked to break them out by Kazuya(her opponent). Using a clone body of "Blue Trembling Flute" she used "High Pitch Impact" on the gate destroying it, but exhausted on all her spirit power and reverted back into object form.
After Kazuya and the Head Priest left, they confronted the usurper and his followers who locked them up challenging them to a tournament deciding on who does what. Accepting it both factions prepared. Since his original partner was dead he had to partner up with Kazuya. Their partnership was rocky to say the least. As she called his abilities into question, and whether or not he was fit to be called an exorcist. Despite her initial misgivings on him managed to make it work.
The final match came and it was a true sight to behold. The ringleader of the coup was backed into a corner and looked like he was out of options. Deciding to use the ace up his sleeve now he dealt it. Revealing his family's tsugumomo which was a storehouse with the ability to restore anything entered it and came out as a chimera. Made of countless tsugumomo in a nightmarish fusion, this angered Kyouka only to snap back when she sensed a powerful aura from her partner.
She immediately lost contact with him, everything went dark for awhile. Regaining control she found out that her partner who had possessed her out of anger of what his opponent did. Using her abilities as his own Kazuya was unstoppable till it receded. Looking back he found her almost destroyed and screamed in horror. Back in his mind he carried the fallen tsugumomo into his arms and pleaded for her not to die. She told him it wasn't his fault and that they both felt a great rage when they saw the chimera and she gave herself to him. Seeing as her life was slowly fading she asked Kazuya took take care of everyone before parting. Seizing the perfect opportunity the usurper had launched his most powerful attack but was stopped by the ressurected original partner of Kazuya. With new found might they defeated him ensuring the return of the previous head priest into power.
Kyouka managed to survive despite her heavily damaged form, was revitalized and now was back on her feet. She headed out to congratulate Kazuya on their victory but found he was happy that his original partner was back. She watched them from afar observing their interactions and thought that maybe he no longer needed her. Mustering the courage to speak to him only to be beaten to the punch by him, he was going to ask her about their contract. Thinking for the worst she ran with boy in tow, asking why she fled Kyouka responded with a high pitch impact and told him to "Stay Away!". Taking a break on the side of a tree she debated and thought the best course of action was to find someone else to pair up with. Only for it to be cut short with the arrival of a minor monster, she fended it off before being overpowered. In a last ditch effort she screamed Kazuya! and he arrived. Taking the initiative she transformed into her object form and they defeated the monster easily.
Arriving back inside of the grounds Kyouka returned to her human form. After much deliberation she shouted "Be my Owner!" only for Kazuya to reply with an "Eh?". Thinking he no longer needs her tears slowly formed in her eyes, realizing what he just Kazuya recanted his initial statement with a different one. "Please by my tsukumogami again Otomurasaki." which she responded with a yes. Without that out of the way she was looking forward on being his partner again.
Kyouka was playing her flute when she disappeared in a flash of light.
