Alone, alone in this big scary world. He hadn't been a bad Cyndaquil, he was a good Cyndaquil! He didn't understand why Mummy and Daddy left him here. He cried and curled up in a ball. Maybe if he stayed, Mummy and Daddy would come back as see that he was a very good Cyndaquil.

On the banks of a river a Totodile played under the watchful eye of his parents.

"TOTO" He beamed at his parents and shot a stream of water out of his mouth, hitting the bank opposite. The two Feraligatr parents clapped encouragingly as Totodile danced excitedly, he was growing up to be a strong Totodile and one day he would be as strong as his Daddy! He ran over to them and hugged his Mother. She picked him up and held him to her chest before placing him back on the ground and encouraged him to continue to play so the two adult Feraligatr could prepare a meal.

The squawking of Fearow gained the young Pokémon's attention. In the distance he could make out the bird Pokémon, circling in the sky.

"Toto?" He cocked his head to the side, curiously. Then without looking back to see if his parents were still supervising him, he toddled towards the Fearow.

He wandered through the grass happily, staring up at the flying Pokémon, He had never seen such Pokémon before. This new discovery excited him. Mummy and Daddy would be so proud of him!

"Quil?" An unusually small bipedal Pokémon squeaked as Totodile approached. Totodile stopped suddenly, he had not seen the other Pokémon before him, he had been so invested in watching the strange flying Pokémon that he had ignored where he was walking.

"Toto! Totodile!" Totodile pointed to his chest and let out an excited skip.

"Quil? Quil Cynda!" Cyndaquil replied, slightly taken aback by this energetic blue Pokémon.

"ROOOOW!" The three Fearow who had been circling overhead launched into a downwards spiral, their sharp beaks targeting the two unsuspecting Pokémon on the ground below.

A roar of anguish left the male Feraligatr, causing his mate to race to his side. They had only turned their back for a minute and their child had gone. The female cried out in panic for her son, but to no avail. She fell to the ground, head in her hands. Then he heard it, the pained screaming of his baby Pokémon! Without delay, the Male Feraligatr dashed off towards the sound.

The Fearow swooped down on the Totodile and Cyndaquil, viciously peaking at the baby Pokémon with Fury Attack.

"Cyndaquil!" Cyndaquil cried in fear, his flame, weak due to hunger, fizzled out as it left his mouth. Totodile seeing this, tried to hit a Fearow with a jet of water, desperately attempting to protect his new friend. However, his Jetstream wasn't strong enough to penetrate high enough and was easy dodged by the airborne Pokémon.

"Dile!" Toto screamed out loud, he had tried to stay strong like his Mummy and Daddy would but the constant peaking of the mean Pokémon hurt him and he was petrified. Tears of pain dribbled down to his jaw. He wanted his Mummy! He cuddled up to his new friend and closed his eyes, he hoped the hurting would stop soon.

"GATOR!" The roar shook the trees as the Male Feraligatr reared to his full height. The Fearow's turned their attention from the petrified babies huddled in a tight ball to the large, angry crocodilian Pokémon who had just appeared.

"Fearow!" The three birds swooped down at the Feraligatr, who squatted at them with a fury swipes attack.

The birds scattered, before reforming in the air, launching into another drill peak.

The Feraligatr prepared himself and released a powerful Hydro Pump. The Fearow, unable to change direction, were hit square on and fell unceremoniously to the ground. Feraligatr moved towards them and poked at one with his clawed foot. Once he had been convinced of their inability to continue to battle, he stepped over them and headed to the tightly interwoven bundle.

Reaching down, he picked the two babies off the ground and cradled them to his torso. They were hurt but he could see only superficial damage. He sighed in relief as his son and the strangely tiny Cyndaquil shuddered uncontrollably in his arms.

"Cynda, cyndaquil!" the Cyndaquil said timidly, not looking up at the two big scary monsters that towered over him. Beside him Totodile sat and played in the dirt, both Pokémon had rested and were healing from the injuries quickly, the female Feraligatr, knowing medicinal herbs well, had remedied their wounds. But Cyndaquil was scared and he wanted to go home, he had had enough of scary Pokémon for today.

The two Feraligatr's exchanged a sad look, they understood what the little Cyndaquil was too young to comprehend. He had been abandoned for being the runt of the litter. The female Feraligatr gazed down at the Cyndaquil lovingly and reached out to pick him up. The Cyndaquil shuddered in fear and tried to avoid the big scary blue Pokémon with sharp teeth, but was easily lifted from the ground. Feraligatr brought him to her chest and gave him a caring cuddle before putting him back down next to Totodile, who danced excitedly.

"Gator!" The female told her mate, a steely glint in her eyes. The male, resigned to the fact, just nodded in reply. There was no way she would abandon this little one, not after Totodile had taken such a liking to him.

"Gator, Gator." The female Feraligatr tried to explain to the young fire Pokemon without letting him know the truth of the matter. She tried to explain that he was a Good Cyndaquil and that's why he was found by Totodile, and because he was a Good Cyndaquil and deserved a brother to look out for him.

At hearing the word brother Totodile jumped into the air exuberantly. He had always wanted a brother. Cyndaquil looked up at the blue Pokémon quizzically. Would this Pokemon really be his big brother and keep him safe from the scary world?

"Toto toto totodile!" Totodile danced around his mother, excited.

The den was ablaze with the sounds of giggling as Cyndaquil raced away from a Totodile, hot on her tail. As Totodile tagged her, she turned to tackle him, causing them both to fall forwards in fit of laughter. Overseeing their frivolities were four adult Pokemon.

Typhlosion and his mate had brought their daughter to play with his brothers' daughter. Now they sat with the two Feraligatr, enjoying the sounds of joy emiiting from the children.

Feraligatr met his brothers' eye with a serene expression as the two children decided it was time to beg his mate for food. Typhlosion let out a gruff laugh as it reminded him of how they used to annoy their mother for food., apples truly don't fall far from the tree.

Feraligatr reached out and placed his arms across the flaming Pokémon's shoulders and gave him a look that told him all her needed to know.

Family, forever.

Author's note: A very basic story I wrote while trying to overcome writer's block. Thought I might post it because I kinda like it.
