Chapter 1: A Dimension Bridge Disaster
A.N. Since I've been enjoying writing Transformers fics lately, especially for Rescue Bots Academy, I decided to open the door to crossovers, and since I've done some My Little Pony fics very recently, I figured it would be a good idea to do a crossover between Transformers and My Little Pony, as a lot of people on this site have. BigMoose01 figured it might be a good idea to do this since both Transformers and MLP are popular toylines and media franchises by Hasbro. And while I'm not the only one who's written something like this, I'll pretty much be the first (and probably only) user to write a crossover between MLP and RBA. Also, just thought I'd let you know that the MLP portion of this crossover takes place within my own universe.
Well, I think I've said enough, so sit back, relax, and let our story begin.
One day, Whirl was in her quarters reading one of her Hardy Boys books she had gotten from the Burns family for the Rescue Bot Recruits' first Christmas. The book in particular was The Mark On The Door, the thirteenth book in the series. As she was reading the words in her head, astonishment, curiosity, and excitement surged through her circuits.
"Wow." she gasped. "I can see now why Graham and Dani like these books. They're so exciting and intriguing to read!"
Just then, Hot Shot entered and went up to Whirl.
"Hey, Whirl." he said. "Dad and I are going to a lobbing match on Cybertron. Wanna come with? You don't have to, I'm just asking."
"Oh, sure!" grinned Whirl as she set down her book after putting a bookmark in it.
Hot Shot and Whirl then left for the Space Bridge, where Heatwave was just about to power it up.
"Ready, Hot Shot?" asked Heatwave.
"I sure am." nodded Hot Shot.
"Me too!" agreed Whirl.
Just then, Hoist and Fixit entered.
"Hey, Whirl." Hoist greeted.
"Oh, hey, Hoist, Fixit." Whirl replied. "What's up?"
"Wanna see something really cool?" asked Fixit.
"I'd love to, but Hot Shot already invited me to go to a lobbing match with Heatwave." said Whirl.
"No, it's okay." said Hot Shot. "I don't mind."
"You don't?" asked Whirl.
"Not at all." reassured Hot Shot. "Besides, this was really meant to be sort of a "father and son" thing for me and Heatwave."
"Alright." said Whirl. "Well, I don't want to keep you two any longer, so have fun!"
"Bye, Whirl!" said Hot Shot as he and Heatwave stepped through the Space Bridge.
Once Heatwave and Hot Shot were gone, Hoist and Fixit took Whirl to one of the extra rooms the Academy had gained courtesy of the Titan known as Citadel Secundus becoming an extension to it. When they arrived at whatever room they were taking her to, Whirl saw a strange device that looked like the Ground Bridge and the Space Bridge. Sludge and Snarl were standing next to it.
"Wow!" she gasped. "You built another Ground Bridge?!"
"Well, it is a Bridge, but it's not a Ground Bridge." said Hoist.
"And it's not a Space Bridge, either." added Fixit.
"Oh." said Whirl. "Well, what kind of Bridge is it then?"
"It's something brand new I invented." said Hoist. "A Dimension Bridge."
"Yeah, it can take you to other dimensions." said Fixit. "Even dimensions of shows of TV shows and movies the humans like, like this one about a builder who works with a team of colorful construction vehicles that can talk."
"We just got finished building it today." Sludge put in.
"Yeah, and Hoist was thinking you could be the one to try it out." said Snarl.
"Oh, okay." said Whirl. "But why me? Why not someone like Tough Luck Chuck?"
"Because I know how excited you get when new tech comes to the Academy." said Hoist. "Plus, Boulder's doing some repairs on Chuck."
"Yeah, that makes sense." said Whirl.
"So, Whirl, what do you say?" Hoist then asked. "You wanna try it out?"
"Of course I do, silly!" giggled Whirl. "Just let me grab something first."
"Gotcha." nodded Hoist.
Whirl then left and returned with her phone.
"I thought I'd bring this to take pictures." she said.
"Good call." said Hoist. "Okay, Fixit, light it up!"
"You got it." nodded Fixit.
Fixit then pressed a button on the Dimension Bridge's control panel. The two metal rings linked up and an aura of yellow energy came from within.
"Whoa." gasped Whirl.
Whirl then took a deep breath.
"Okay, here I go." she said.
Whirl then stepped through the Dimension Bridge while Hoist, Fixit, Sludge, and Snarl watched intently. At first, everything went smoothly, but just as the device was powering down after Whirl went through it, sparks started flying out of it, and the lights on the control panel started to flicker.
"Uh-oh." gulped Hoist. "That doesn't look good."
"Not good at all." agreed Fixit.
On Whirl's end, she found herself in some sort of meadow with trees, flowers, and even what appeared to be mountains in the background.
"Wow." she gasped as she took some pictures with her phone. "This place is beautiful!"
Back on the Academy's end, Fixit was trying to get the Bridge back online, but to no avail.
"It's no use, Hoist." he sighed. "It's busted. I can't do anything with it."
"Well, that's just prime!" groaned Hoist. "This is just what we needed!"
Just then, Hoist heard his comm chirp.
"Hello?" Hoist responded as he answered the call.
On the other end was Whirl.
"It works great, Hoist!" she praised. "But I think I'm ready to come back now."
Hoist didn't want Whirl to know what happened and just stood there, frozen in fear.
"Uh...that's...good, I guess." he said.
Right away, Whirl got the feeling that something was wrong.
"Is everything okay?" she asked.
"I'm sorry, but I have to go." said Hoist, who then turned off his comm.
Whirl was shocked at this sudden gesture.
"What's going on?" she asked herself.
At the Academy, Hoist was talking to Fixit and the two Dinobots in the room.
"What should I tell Whirl?" Hoist asked.
"I guess we should just tell her that we're experiencing technical difficulties with the Bridge." shrugged Fixit. "I mean, it's the only logical thing to tell her."
"Yeah, I guess so." sighed Hoist.
Hoist then called Whirl back.
"What happened, Hoist?" Whirl asked.
"Whirl, I'd hate to break this to you, but we're having problems with the Bridge." Hoist confessed. "It malfunctioned as it was closing up after you went through it, which means we'll have to make some repairs to it, and that you'll be stuck in whatever dimension you're in for quite a while."
"What?!" Whirl cried out.
"Yeah, I'm very sorry." Hoist sighed. "But don't worry, we'll try and get it fixed as soon as possible."
"Okay." said Whirl. "Well, I'll see you when I see you."
"You too." replied Hoist.
The two then ended their call.
"Well, I told her." said Hoist. "She understands."
"But what about Hot Shot?" asked Sludge. "What do we tell him?"
"We'll just tell him what we told Whirl." said Fixit. "Simple as that."
"To be honest, I'm not sure that would be a good idea." said Hoist.
"Why not?" asked Fixit.
"Well, you see, Hot Shot and Whirl are kinda close." said Hoist.
"Like they were boyfriend and girlfriend?" asked Fixit.
"You could say that." said Hoist. "And honestly, I don't want Hot Shot to be mad at us for what happened, especially me, since this was all my idea."
"Well, Wise Guy, what do you suppose we tell him instead?" huffed Fixit as he crossed his arms.
Hoist tried to think of a possible excuse to give Hot Shot, but was unsuccessful.
"You know what, Fixit? You're right." said Hoist. "Besides, Heatwave says that it's always best to tell the truth, no matter what the consequences may be."
"Yeah." said Fixit. "I'm sure Hot Shot won't be too upset. But now the question is; who's going to tell him?"
Just then, Chase's voice came over the PA system.
"Sludge and Snarl, please report to Hero Hall for sim practice with Brushfire, Slash, and Laserbeak." he said.
"I guess we'll have to figure this out later." said Sludge as he and Snarl left.
"Yeah, sorry guys." said Snarl.
"No, it's okay." said Hoist.
Sludge and Snarl then left, leaving Hoist and Fixit by themselves.
"Boy, I really screwed up this time, Fixit." sighed Hoist.
"Hey, don't feel bad, buddy." Fixit smiled. "It wasn't your fault, and there's nothing we could have done to prevent it."
"But it was my idea to build that thing in the first place, so yes, it is my fault!" Hoist despaired. "And there is something we could have done! We should have done a test run before inviting Whirl to try it out!"
Fixit knew Hoist was right.
"Okay, yes, both of those are true." said Fixit. "Still, I think you're making a mountain out of a molehill out of this. Remember when you told me about happened when you built yours, Hot Shot, Whirl, Medix, and Wedge's Cool Tools?"
"Oh, yeah." said Hoist. "I guess I am overreacting a little bit. But I'm still a little upset, though."
"Can't say I blame you." said Fixit. "Hey, how about a game of ping-pong in the Action Matrix? That might take your mind off this."
"Good idea." agreed Hoist.
With that, Hoist and Fixit left the room and headed to the Action Matrix. But Hoist's thoughts were still with Whirl.
"Gee, I sure hope Whirl's gonna be okay." he said to himself.
