Lady Penelope sighed happily as she stepped out of FAB1, the sea breeze whipped through her hair and the smell of spices filled her nose, she smiled at the man who approached them and shook his hand.
"Lady Penelope, welcome to Saint Marie."
Kayo got out of the car and stretched followed by Natasha, "I wish we had gone by standard air travel."
Lady Penelope turned to her travellers as the bellman took her bags and two other staff members took Natasha's and Kayo's, "you didn't have to come, but you said you were bored of quiet missions and I thought Natasha could use a break from GDF responsibilities. Besides, I hate doing these formal events alone."
Kayo pushed her sunglasses up on top of her head, "I didn't say any of that, Scott suggested I had a break and you agreed with him."
"So a honeymoon is okay but spending time with your dearest friend isn't?" Penelope smirked, "now come on, our suite is waiting."
"We have a suite?"
"Of course."
Parker cleared his throat, "will you be needing me, M'Lady?"
"Park the car, alone, please Parker, and have the night off. I won't be needing you until the auction."
"Yes M'Lady, have a good night."
"Thank you, Parker."
Natasha watched him leave, "will he be okay?"
"He'll be more than okay, he's already researched this island for entertainment pursuits I'm sure."
The guests checked in behind a couple and were given three keys for a room called the Sunset Suite, they got into the lift and went up to the fourth floor, Kayo led the way and they found their bags outside the door on a luggage trolley.
"Do we just take them off?" Natasha looked around and a bellman appeared, "ah."
Penelope tipped him and Kayo opened the door, "here we are then. Time to spend our week doing nothing but relaxing."
Natasha smiled at the huge room, "wow, this is beautiful. I should let Virgil know," she got out her phone then gasped as Penelope tapped the screen, "hey!"
"A week without our boys will also do us some good."
Kayo hummed, "well if you two are done, I've already chosen my room. You snooze, you lose."
"Ohhh that is not fair!"
Penelope laughed, "as long as you haven't taken the best view?"
Natasha walked off in the opposite direction from the doorway Kayo was standing beside and opened a door to the second bedroom, "wow," she looked around in awe at the beach view through the window then to the double bed decorated in embroidered cushions and a purple bedspread.
"I'm kinda jealous of this room now," Kayo poked her head in.
"Same view or different?"
"Mountain view over the beach. Come and have a look."
"After we've seen Penelope's."
"Deal."
Penelope grinned at the framed images of coral and fish which reminded her of Gordon and she lay back across the bed with a happy sigh, "perfect."
"Knackered already? You should have slept more on the plane, oh wait, car."
"Don't be so cheeky, Kayo," Penelope laughed sitting up, "do you like your rooms?"
Natasha nodded, "it's beautiful," she gasped, "you have such a lovely view, half jungle half coast."
"And we all have our own bathrooms so we can take as long as we want."
Kayo kicked off her trainers as she wandered back into their lounge area, "so, what's our plan for the rest of the day?"
"I think lunch is in order, would you agree? Real Caribbean cuisine."
Natasha hummed, "sounds wonderful, I just hope the food isn't too spicy."
"It's the rum you have to look out for here, it'll have a real kick," Kayo smiled, "it's made fresh."
Natasha smiled, "what are we waiting for then? Let's go."
"Wait, I want to change first and get out of these travel clothes," Kayo smiled back as Natasha sighed, "I'll be ten minutes, tops."
"FAB. I might do the same," Penelope nodded.
"Alright then, meet back here in ten."
The trio were soon ready to leave and checked they had their keys on them. They left the hotel deciding to walk along the beach instead of the street and smiled at the scenery, a young boy ran past them followed shortly by a policeman and Penelope chuckled watching them go.
"There you are Kayo, something to remind you of work."
"Ha, you said I'm here to relax Penelope, and that's what I'm going to do."
"Good. And since we're on holiday, you two can call me Penny."
"The same goes for me, you can call me Nat or Tasha if you'd like, but not Natty. Gordon calls me that to annoy me."
Kayo laughed, "Gordon does what he can to annoy everyone."
Penelope frowned, "come on, he's not that bad."
On the other side of the world, the Tracys were enjoying a summer evening, all until Gordon decided to go for a swim.
"You trout!" Scott flicked his hair back angrily.
"You just can't stand losing to me can you?"
"That's because you cheat, Gordon."
Virgil smirked from where he was sat on the picnic bench sketching, "don't bother asking because I wasn't looking."
Scott got out of the pool grabbing a towel and quickly pushed Gordon back in hearing him making his way up the ladder behind him, "everything ends up being a race with you."
Gordon coughed, "you didn't have to push me back in."
"The water is your element, you're fine."
Alan shook his head as he shared a grin with Virgil, "there's more to this."
"No there isn't, Scott just doesn't like his swim to be interrupted. Unless it's Kayo who disturbs it."
"Oh very funny," Scott joined his brothers at the table.
"Missing your missus then?" Gordon jogged over and snatched the sandwich Alan was holding out of his hand.
"You're one to talk," Scott snatched it back and passed it to his youngest brother.
"I'm not the married one here. And what about you, Virgil?"
"What about me?"
"Bet you're missing Natty?"
"Don't call her that, you know she hates it," Virgil put down his sketchbook with a frown.
"Ooh you're drawing her," Gordon leaned over the table and Virgil closed the book.
"You're dripping! Get away from my drawing."
"Sorry sorry. Here Scott, give me that towel please?"
Scott snorted a laugh, "get your own towel."
"Boys, are you done with your swim?" Jeff asked stepping out onto the patio.
"Yep."
"Good, come in and set the table for dinner."
Virgil smiled, "I'm so glad he took over cooking for grandma."
"Yep, that was the real reason for getting him back from the Oort Cloud," Alan grinned and Virgil punched his arm gently.
Natasha sipped her cocktail looking out at the ocean, "it really is beautiful here."
"What's this auction tomorrow anyway, Penny?" Kayo asked flattening a napkin across her lap as she spotted plates coming towards them.
"Oh I'm not getting involved, my father wanted me to keep an eye on a particular piece. It's called the Green Parrot."
"That's it?" Kayo raised an eyebrow, "a painting of a bird?"
"You won't call it just a painting when you see it, trust me."
Kayo tipped her glass back then put it down, "FAB."
"Are we on an island or are we attached to the mainland?" Natasha asked after thanking their waitress.
"Saint Marie is a port on the island of Guadeloupe," Penelope topped up her glass of wine and then Kayo's, "are you guys worried about something?"
"No no, I'm just interested."
Natasha smiled after a bite of her meal, "this is a cute place, want to come back here for dinner?"
Kayo leaned back in her chair, "more than happy to do so."
"After some shopping," Penelope smiled tucking into her lunch.
The sky was now orange from the sunset as the girls sat in their new favourite restaurant for dinner, and Kayo had the giggles after hearing one of Penelope's date night with Gordon stories. Their plates now empty and a bottle of white wine sat in a bucket of ice.
"But he's a sweetheart on dates, always pays and lets me have the last of anything we're sharing."
Kayo snorted, "well he certainly doesn't do that on the island."
"Natasha, you still haven't told us how you've been coping with the GDF."
Natasha shrugged, "just as busy as I was with the acting, but the pay is so much better. But, Wayne and Marion have broken up."
"Ooh, do tell," Kayo grinned.
"You're mean," Natasha laughed, "well, apparently..."
Penelope rolled her eyes as the two laughed then she caught the tail end of someone's conversation on the phone behind her and frowned.
"Yes, I know and it's been dealt with. I'm not worried about tomorrow, look, just relax okay? I'll take care of them. Bye."
Kayo's laugh brought her back to the table, "I told you he could be a jerk."
"I don't know why you dislike her so much, she's always nice to me."
"That's because you're with Virgil and not Scott."
"What's this?" Penelope asked.
"Wayne told Marion he could see why Scott didn't want to go out with her," Natasha topped up her wine glass, "sounded like there was jealousy involved."
"What did she say to you then?" Kayo asked, eager for more information.
"I didn't know what to say. She walked away after I said to forget him, but also because I said you and Scott were married he's always had feelings for you. I've only known you and Virgil for eight months, I don't know the backstories."
Penelope smiled, "I wouldn't date within the GDF."
"No, I'm glad Virgil is outside," Natasha sighed, "what time is it?"
Kayo checked her phone, " , it'll be six in the morning at home," she spotted Natasha reach for her phone, "don't, he won't be up."
"But I haven't spoken to him all day."
"You can do that tomorrow," Penelope yawned, "I think we should head back to the hotel, we have an early start tomorrow and I'm beginning to feel the jet lag."
"Car lag, more like."
"Oh Kayo, would you have rather been in a jet with loads of people, or comfy in my car?"
"The leg space is the same in both."
Penelope got out her credit card but was stopped by Natasha, "huh?"
"It's the least I can do, you've paid for the hotel so I'll treat us for tonight."
"Thanks, Nat."
The girls got back to the hotel and Penelope spotted the man who she had seen at the restaurant but he was now talking to a woman. She turned away quickly and followed Kayo and Natasha into the lift as they held the doors for her. They reached their floor and walked down the corridor to their suite, Kayo switched the lights on and smiled at the mini kitchen.
"Hot drinks anyone?"
Penelope nodded kicking off her heels, "hmm hot chocolate for me please, and then I'm off to bed."
Natasha pulled the blinds down and took the slide pins out of her hair, "a decaf coffee for me please, and leave it in the kitchen, I'm going to get dressed for bed."
"FAB."
Natasha pulled the shutters in and drapes across leaving her bedroom only lit by the overhead ceiling lights and unzipped her case, her eyes glanced at a gun and she pushed it aside to pull out her pyjamas instead then tucked the case under the bed, "I won't need you, hopefully," she sighed as she got dressed then left the room to get her coffee.
The lounge was now dark as Penelope and Kayo had gone to their rooms, she picked up the steaming mug and turned off the lights after making sure the door to their suite was locked then returned to her room closing the door behind her, she checked the time and grinned. She logged into her laptop and opened her Facebook messenger seeing Virgil's icon at the top lit up and pressed the call button.
"Nat, how are you doing sweetheart?" Virgil's hologram appeared on the bed in front of her and she ran a finger down his outline.
"It's beautiful here, I wish you were with me."
"Shouldn't you be asleep?"
Natasha smiled, "it's only half eleven. Haven't you just got up?"
"I've just got back from a mission."
"Oh I'm sorry, get some rest."
Virgil shook his head, "I'm fine, I'll catch up on it after this call."
"Virgil, don't let me keep you up if you've been out all night," Natasha said sadly.
"Hey, I would've declined your call if I was serious about resting," he smirked and leaned back suggesting he was sitting in bed, "what are you guys doing tomorrow then?"
"We're going to an art auction, and then for the rest of the week lots of sunbathing and drinking. It certainly makes a change from the doctor's room," she smiled as Virgil laughed, "what about you?"
"I'll get back my sleep first, then morning practise and maintenance."
Natasha smiled, "the usual then," she yawned.
"Get some sleep honey, and I'll catch up with you tomorrow."
"FAB. I love you."
Virgil smiled, "I love you too, Nat, have a good time at the auction."
"Thanks. Sleep well."
"And you."
Natasha touched the end call button on her laptop screen and the room was plunged into a yellow glow from the bedside lights, she snuggled down under the sheets after turning up the air conditioning slightly and turned the lights off.
