In this story Naruto is in Hiyori's place. He is born in the Noragami universe.

"Milord"

Naruto read off from the flier. In front of him was the picture of a black and white kit, printed below the name MILORD and above a phone number, stapled to a brick wall on the side of a street.

Around him, groups of people walked past, not sparing a glance at the paper. Naruto had been walking along himself when the flier caught his eye, right as he had been counting off the number of missing assignments he needed to turn in(his work ethic wasn't the best). But now he was staring at the paper, he couldn't help the bubble of amusement that surfaced.

"What kinda person names their cat Milord?", Naruto snickered to himself, tugging at the orange scarf wrapped around his neck.

'Though I probably can't be talking, I call my wallet Gama.'

Gama was his money keeper, a little money pouch designed to look like a green toad, and only smiled when it was full and fat.

Deciding he'd spent enough time standing around, Naruto continued on his way, pulling out a notebook and scribbling in it. He hummed a tune he didn't know and thought about the next few days of school he had left until the weekend, until when he could pretend school didn't exist and when he could vent his stress.

Out of the corner of his eye, he could see a dark clothed figure pass by. Dark hair and something light-colored around their neck, perhaps a scarf?

Normally Naruto wouldn't pay any attention to some stranger walking by, but something drew him to look. Probably boredom.

He turned his head slightly, and his eyes met feline blue, crystalline shades of maya and cerulean. Dark messy hair fell around the stranger's face, highlighting indigo and cobalt in the bright sun, and curious eyes watched him from between black bangs. The stranger wore a dark jersey, had a pale teal scarf bunched on his shoulders, and was holding a flier in his hand. Naruto could hear boots clicking.

Their eyes glanced, hardly meeting, Naruto barely took a full breath. The moment was only brief, a short few seconds, and in no way was some long-drawn introduction between two citizens of a large world, yet Naruto still turned around after four steps, still did a 180 from his position.

He watched as Jersey Guy stopped, cried a cry of victory, and pointed at something in the road.

It was the cat, Milord, who turned around to see Jersey Guy, then ran off. Jersey Guy leaped over the railing that edged the street and jumped onto the road, letting go of the flier in the rush of chasing a cat and not seeing the truck.

Without thinking about it Naruto threw his backpack to the ground and lunged forward, heart pace quickening with adrenaline as his mind screamed about the truck coming, which was ignored by his body.

This stranger was chasing a cat that wasn't his, was running across a street, and was about to be hit by a large ass truck; Naruto was the only person even seeming to pay attention to Jersey Guy.

Naruto was only inches away from Jersey Guy, faster than he'd expected and diving to the other side of the street in front of a truck for a man in a jersey.

Naruto grabbed Jersey Guy by his jacket and swung him around, throwing him to the sidewalk. As soon as he let go Naruto scrambled to get away, jumping fast onto the pavement beside Jersey Guy where his landing was far less graceful.

Naruto immediately sat up, glaring at Jersey Guy, "Oi, what the hell was that! Jumpin' into the road for a stupid cat!"

He was standing now, gripping the front of Jersey Guy's jersey and holding him up above the ground as much as his arms would allow(Naruto was sadly a few inches shorter than Jersey Guy).

Jersey Guy gave him an awkward look, and before Naruto could say anything, he said, "Ehm, I think you should be more worried about yourself.", Jersey Guy pointed back to the street, and Naruto looked, before gaping.

What did he see?

He saw someone with blonde hair like him, orange clothes like him, and a face like him. Lying in the street with their eyes closed and the truck stopped in front of them. It took Naruto a moment to process that that was him.

Suddenly a large bulky man with sunglasses comes running to his - his what? His double? His secret twin? - and turns him over before flipping out a phone and speaking into it, talking in a weird rap.

"He should be fine."

Naruto turns, who was that?

That voice spoke again, surprise filtering through, "It's honestly a miracle that he's uninjured. He got a direct hit from the truck?"

"Yah doubt me? The Killer B? I should be mad, but am more o' sad!"

The first voice hesitated, ". . . No, I'm just surprised. He doesn't even have any bruises or scrapes to show, but that's preferable. Great really."

Naruto groaned.

"Oo, I think he's awake, now this is great!", the second voice rhymed.

Naruto opened his eyes to a white room and two people standing over him. The first one was an ordinary looking man with a flat chin and combed brown hair. The other person however, looked familiar. Round sunglasses, bulky shoulders, and a white vest. Naruto spotted a tattoo on his right bicep and took notice of the many red-handled blades hanging from his belt.

Naruto's eyes traveled further through the room, noting the plastic bag of clear liquid above his head and the white beds, chairs, tables, and plain couches sitting in the corner.

His attention was brought back to the two men in front of them when the doctor started speaking, "Your CAT scan looked fine, and your EEG appears normal too. Nothing wrong at all, not even a bruise."

"So, I'm alright then?", Naruto asked.

"Yes, though I would recommend you stay here for another day.", the man looked up from his clipboard and smiled apologetically.

Naruto fidgeted. He had work to go to today. If he stayed at the hospital because of something that didn't even hurt him, and had to make things — no, he was alright. No need to take up space needed for others who were actually hurt.

He smiled back, "Ah, I'm fine, really. I'd actually like to go ahead and head home. Would that be alright?"

The doctor looked reluctant, but sighed, "I guess it is.", he then turned to the other man, who had been listening quietly, "Excuse me sir, there are still some things I wanted to talk to you about.", he looked back to Naruto, "This is the man who brought you here and has offered to pay the expenses. Killer B, is his. . . name."

Naruto glanced at the doctor then at Killer B. 'Why is he the one telling me that though?'

Killer B flashed him a hand-horns sign before following the doctor out.

Naruto sighed as he settled onto his bed, rubbing his aching hands, exhaustion and immense desire to sleep it off driven by his afternoon of constant work.

It was worth it though, he made enough to pay off food for the next week and along with a few bills. Not to mention the extra 'tip' he'd received from Killer B.

"Hey you!"

Naruto turned around, surprised, to see that man(Killer B) coming up to him with a grin on his face and something fisted in his hand.

"Ya headin' home all alone?"

Naruto nodded.

Killer B held out his hand, revealing a roll of money and a small piece of notebook paper, with something scribbled on it, "I've got some cash to give and a number to gift! Also I heard ya needed a ride so I'm happy to provide as long as you'll be the guide."

Naruto stared and tried to process what the man was saying.

He glanced at the money and paper, his brain trying to translate the last sentence.

'He's giving me money and his number, and also offering to give me a lift back to my house.', he looked back at the waiting face of Killer B, and decided he'd accept.

Maybe Naruto's sense of self awareness was a bit wack.

Naruto beamed, "Thanks! I'll give you my address!", he then stuck out his hand, "I'm Uzumaki Naruto, just so ya know."

The man grinned, "Killer B, that's me!", instead of shaking Naruto's hand though, he held his hand up in a fist.

Naruto blinked, then smiled, fist bumping Killer B.

Yawning, Naruto changed into a T-shirt and pair of shorts, getting ready for bed. Homework would have to wait for tomorrow.

'Ah, crap. I still have a bunch o' those missing assignments.', Naruto groaned at the thought, but still slipped under the blanket and curled on his side, consciousness already drifting away.

Yet as Naruto's eyes dipped, warmth and nothingness pressing his mind in an earnest for sleep, he remembered blue eyes. Distantly. Blearily and fuzzed. But he could still remember them, a sharp gaze of frozen sky. Something warm and worn clenched in his hand with a desperate grab. And a cat.

'. . . I think. . . there was someone else, there. . . '

Naruto fell asleep.
