Republic Reborn - Episode VII

Set after ROTJ, this "interim trilogy" tells the story of events leading up to the sequel trilogy. It shows the final end of the Empire and the rebirth of the Republic, while following Luke, Leia, and Han through adventure and victory, challenge and tragedy. 1. Prologue

Hello fellow Star Wars fans,

This is a prologue to give you some context. This story is not a genre piece, though there are relationships, romance, action, drama, tragedy, and so on. I hope the story goes well beyond a particular interest.

I'm rating it Mature due to adult themes and occasional scenes of graphic violence. However, thus far there is no explicit sex and I do not expect there to be. I feel the "M" rating is on the safe side, and "T" is a better reflection of the vast majority of the story.

This is a very long story that begins with the Battle of Jakku (less than a year after Endor) and ends with events that lead into the sequel trilogy roughly 15-18 years later. It is divided into three episodes, effectively VII, VIII, and IX. This "interim trilogy" is meant to provide a believable and compelling foundation for events of the sequel trilogy, which becomes Episodes X, XI, and XII.

I currently have the entire interim trilogy outlined and the first several chapters finished. I will try to release about a chapter a month. After completing this trilogy, my next goal is a total rewrite of the sequel trilogy, keeping only some main characters and concepts.

A note on the EU. My knowledge of the EU as a whole isn't encyclopedic, and even though I use some EU characters in this story, it does not hold strictly to EU canon. That said, I believe the EU characters I use are in keeping with the spirit of their roles in the EU, as you will see.

A few notes on the storytelling: I do a lot of "world-building" within the story to flesh out George Lucas' world as I see it. These passages aren't necessary to the plot per se, but I hope they add depth to the world. I also write to visually evoke what you would see if you were watching this story as a movie trilogy. I'm describing scenes as I would in a screenplay or storyboard, to help you see what I see in my mind. Hopefully that comes across in the Battle of Jakku. At least these are my intentions - whether or not they succeed is up to the reader.

The Star Wars universe and its existing characters are property of the Disney Corp, and I assert fair use of them for non-commercial purposes. I also assert fair use of references to various other intellectual properties for non-commercial purposes. Finally, I assert my rights to this original story, story elements, and original characters within. They may not be reused or republished in any form without my permission.

There are also multiple references to historical events which are adapted for this story - hopefully some will find that interesting as I do.
