A/N: Recently started watching the Originals and I adore Klaus and Camille. This is me wondering what would have happened if they had met far earlier than they did in the show. Please read, and review. Enough interest in this story and I will continue (truth I'll at least bring this taster chapter to a conclusion with a part two that'll be much longer). But seriously I would love to hear your thoughts.
Prologue
His laughter echoed in her ears.
In truth, it was the only thing she could focus on, even as the reoccurring thud, thud, thud of something hitting the ground dimly penetrated her awareness. That, and the immense thrill of satisfaction that spurned her veins at his sudden surprise and then fear.
Her fingers dug harshly into soft locks, and it wasn't until she felt the hard press of fingers into her arm that she registered the warm sludge of blood coating her palms.
Then she was hefted up and away.
In the span of thirty seconds, she had lost full control of herself, and she couldn't bring herself to care. Even as the shocked and horrified murmurs of the other bar patrons filtered through her ears, even as she realized that Scott – Marnie's Scott – laid on the ground unconscious and bleeding profusely by her hand. She didn't feel an ounce of remorse or pity or horror... just elation and a whispered desire to see his chest stop rising.
Somewhere in the background as police and medics flooded the bar, as she heaved for breath paralyzed by the rage still coursing through her, one lone voice caught her attention.
"Well... now that's what I call a show." His grizzled accent slammed happily into the grim atmosphere, jerking her from the red fog that had entrapped her.
She found her jade gaze sweeping to meet the beguiling cerulean stare of a highly entertained man. He saluted to her with his beer bottle as cuffs encircled her wrists, his crooked grin making him appear just as maniacal as it did charming. The sight bemused her, angered her, but strangely... this man's jovial spirit also soothed her.
She didn't understand and as if he understood that, his grin softened almost tenderly at her.
She was speechless, which was perfect as the next voice to ring in her ear stated, "Camille O'Connell, you are under arrest."
