Heya my beautiful readers, I was looking through my old harddrive and then I found my first novel, the English translation first draft, I will now post a couple of chapters and if I get at least 40 views I wil keep posting more, so help me out here pls?
Prologue
In heaven mothers didn't simple give birth to their children. Each couple got the gift of a child with a maximum of four children for each couple. These children weren't simple born in a natural way. When a child came in to heaven, it did so by being reborn from heavenly fire after it died on earth; more or less like a Phoenix. All the child had lived through in his or her previous life vanished completely the minute the fell from the sky incomplete and were reborn from the heavenly fire.
Our story starts with a little girl that was reborn one day. Later on it would become clear that she had a dangerous destiny. She also had a twin brother or sister that was also reborn into heaven even though the location of this second child was unknown. The people in heaven told a legend about them; it just so happened that they were the only survivors of a mighty race that once protected the heavenly fire. The existence of the twins had to remain a secret, because they had many enemies and special skills besides.
We aren't just talking about two normal children here, but about a boy and a girl. We will meet the girl first. Below you can read their story which is mostly written from the girl's perspective…
Chapter 1
On a warm day midsummer, a blaze of blue fire hit the clouds, and from it a little girl was born. She landed in front of the Evans's house in a little blue basket, wrapped in a blanket that had the name Skyler sown onto it. When miss Evans opened the door of her little cottage, she was surprised at first to find the basket at her feet.
Within seconds though, she ran back into the house with a huge smile on her face, that lit up her eyes and yelled: 'Jullian, sweetheart, come quick!' Jullian came running over to his wife and was just about to ask what the matter was when he noticed the little bundle that his wife had in her hands and the happy smile she had on her face. All he managed to say was: 'Is that what I think it is honey.' 'Yes darling!' His wife replied, without being able to suppress a big grin. 'Our little girl is finally here…' At that Jullian all but ran in to his wives' arms, until he realized at the last moment, the bundle of joy was still in her arms. So instead he just put out his arms and asked: 'Can I please hold her Emma?' His wife smiled at him and trust the little baby up in to his arms and Jullian couldn't keep Himself from grinning like a big idiot when he looked up into little Skylers eyes and saw that they were a beautiful gold with blue rings in it.
He looked her over and found that she had tiny wings on her back in the same colours, but blue with gold this time. Only then did he realize that there was a note clasped in her little hands, so he opened it and read it out loud to his wife:
'This is little Skyler, in her previous life, she was a happy teenager and a good artist too. Until she was raped and brutally murdered with 41 knife strokes to the abdomen by her own father. Please make sure she has a happy healthy life and can grow to reach het full potential. This of course means she needs to find her special skill and develop it. She needs a loving home, one that she didn't have before with and absent mother and an abusive father. Her past doesn't matter now though, no longer. For this is her chance to be reborn with wings…'.
When he finished reading he shared one knowing glance with his wife and then he went over to her so they could hug their little girl together.
When Emma looked her daughter over a little while later the baby girl still had some ash stains the on her clothes. This was a good reason for the first bath of her young life and afterwards her parents lulled her to sleep with a lullaby a pink teddy bear. Her parents lingered in her room for a while and watched their baby girl float peacefully above her crib in while she slept. Meanwhile shivering with the horror in Skylers past life fresh on their minds. They made a silent vow to keep her safe and sound and to teach her to be kind hearted and sweet to those around her.
In a view days the new family had settled into a nice routine; Every day little Skyler woke up at six and started to cry. This caused her mother to wake up to so she could get her little girl out of bed and bathe her. Dad woke up a view minutes later and went downstairs to make a bottle for Skyler and breakfast for him and his wife. When mom and little Skyler walked into the kitchen the whole family could have breakfast together. For mom and dad breakfast consisted of a piece of toast and a coup of coffee.
After breakfast, dad left for work at the Primary School and mom took Emma to the park where the baby girl could fly in an open space. Mom walked alongside her daughter and together they enjoyed nature and fed the birds in the sky (a flying Skyler) and ducks on the ground (a walking mom).
In the early afternoon after lunch mom spent her time painting and she gave Skyler her own canvas; her mom was of course very surprised when her baby girl managed to paint a portrait after just a view days' time.
As time went by, it became apparent that little Skyler picked up quickly on everything that her parents tried to show and teach her. She appeared to learn at an extraordinarily fast pace; they taught her to make turn letter into sounds and into words in just her first week in heaven. Plus she loved to look at the world around her and she absorbed everything and tried to put a name to everything she witnessed. It goes without saying that her parents were very impressed with the way their daughter behaved and acted.
Emma and Jullian were over the moon about the fact that they now finally had a family, because they had spent along time waiting for the gift of a child. Fact of the matter was that they both loved children and spent all of their working life around them. The Evans' couple were truly model parents and now they could finally care for a child of their own.
Little Skyler was now one month old and she was growing into her wings more and more. Right now she was once again smiling up at her new found parents with hope in her eyes.
Her mom and dad had grown into their roles surprisingly fast, they were natural parents and her little room was as pure and sweet as she was, with golden blue walls and a crib shaped like the stars in the sky engulfed with flames like she was the day she arrived. As luck would have it her mom was an artist and her dad a music teacher at the local college down the street, so she would definitely have the artistic and creative influence she needed to grow into her skills.
It was amazing to see her learn to fly around her room with a new found grace that had never been seen in a one month old sky baby. It was natural for them to learn how to fly before they could walk, but usually they never mastered it until they were a year old at least. The Evans's realized that she must be highly intelligent and therefore extra vulnerable to comments from others, which only meant that her parents needed to encourage her more that it's okay to be different and she would go to the school of reborn children with abilities when she was four years old…
Chapter 2
A view weeks later her parents noticed that she was growing faster than usual and eating a lot more, after only a week or two she was already on solid food and within the next four months Skyler had grown in to a four year old girl with the brightest red hair and she was wearing pretty dresses.
Today she would start at the school for children with abilities and she was so excited and nervous that she was flying all over the house, until her mother picked her up and put her on her lap to give her a nice hug of encouragement. Her dad gave her a big smile that said that everything would be just fine.
An hour later the bus was there to pick Skyler up for to ten minute drive to her new school where she would meet the other kids in her class and spent 4 hours a day for the next five years of her life. Said bus was filled with flying children and anxious teachers running after them, trying to get them to stay in place. Skyler flew in while blowing kisses goodbye to her loving parents.
The bus driver whistled a little to himself as he drove the bus around town, meanwhile sparking up a conversation with the children closest to him. While looking out the window the a view kids on the bus played with their abilities; one child's clothes kept changing colour, while another opened a window without even touching it.
This gives us first glance at a view of the ability that we'll see in this story, but the bus driver was the only one that saw these ability in action and he smiled a little. Still smiling he turned a view drops of water on the window into little pieces of ice. Syler was the first to notice and she giggled, which caused a view little heads to turn into their direction and one kid even melted the ice and it disappeared.
By now the whole bus was staring at this little show with open mouths, because this was the first time the bore witness to people using their ability in the world outside their safe home environment. A side effect of the spectacle was that time flew by, but this could also be a consequence of the fact that one of the twins spent his or her time on the bus with the freezing and then normalizing of the flow of time.
When the bus ride was halfway over an other bus passed them by and they children on the other bus were clearly a lot older. This didn't just appear like it, it was true, because the children on that bus were in third grade. The little children in our bus wished that they would be half as good in controlling their ability as the third years by the time they had reached their age and study level. The other thing that became apparent; was that the older children now longer flew around and this caused Skyler to wonder I her wings would be cut off. Distressed by these dark thoughts the little girl started to sob, until she heard her mothers voice in her head. Emma's voice told her that she could keep her wings in the future and learn to walk at the same time and this seemed to calm her down a little and set her mind a ease.
After a short 15 minutes the bus arrived at the most beautiful little flying castle with a golden shining sign that read: 'Archibald's flying castle of gifted children.' All the children were frozen mid-air and staring in awe at the floating wonder in front of them. Then they all started to talk at once. Which made it sound something like: 'Wokjuhfekjr', which made everybody laugh caused the tension that hung tin the air to break immediately.
This gave Skyler the okay to look around the bus a little and after scanning the heads of the children her eye stuck to a boy with blue silvery hair and she flew over to him and fluttered in front of him with a shy smile on her face. He looked over to her with the same shy smile that made his eyes sparkle and his lips glow. He stuck out his hand to her and said: 'Hi my name is Connor and it's nice to meet you, what's your name?' Hi my name is Skyler and it's nice to meet u too.' She pointed to the seat next to Connor and asked if the seat was taken. He told her it wasn't and encouraged her to take it. Which she did and their wings started to flutter at the same rhythm without either of them knowing.
A view seconds later the doors off the bus slid open and all the children flew out and the gates off the castle opened to let them in. Just inside them stood a man with a cane and a long red beard. 'Welcome gifted reborn to what will be your school for the next five years and where u can learn to grow into your ability and abilities and explore your full potential!' He smiled big with those words and came to give all the kids a hand and introduce himself.
When he arrived at where Skyler and Connor flew he smiled and commented that friendships where formed here too. Then he introduced himself as mister Archibald and asked their names as well and moved on to the next child. Everyone seemed so excited and nervous at the same time, until a teacher appeared and motioned for all the children to come inside with her, they noticed she had red hair as well. She introduced herself as miss Waverly and said she was his daughter and would be their teacher and motioned for them to follow her inside and they did. *** When everyone was inside, the tour of the school could finally start; they met a view of the second years that would from now on take on the role of buddy. This buddy would help them to get around in school and teach them to train and control their gift(s). You can compare this buddy to fake an older sibling for at school. The tour came to an end in the cafeteria where the little ones and older children could relax or finish their assignments. Here they would also meet with their buddy to ask questions during a weekly lunch. In the cafeteria they were given a piece of chocolate cake and a glace of apple juice. Skyler used their break to study the group at length, meanwhile smiling at Connor who was sitting across from her at the table. 'What do you think of school so far?' he asked her. 'Everything is pretty impressive, I can't wait to start classes,' she answered him. 'I wonder what our ability will be,' said Connor and Skyler nodded to that. 'I also wonder how we will grow into the gifted reborn children that we supposedly are,' he added to his earlier statement. 'Did you always know you were special? Connor asked Skyler. 'I knew the moment I started to extremely fast and when I learned to fly at just a month old,' Skyler answered. Connor's looked at her with his mouth open for a while and said: 'I aged a lot faster too; I heard my mom mention one time the that's one of our traits. My mother always said that she was happy that there was I place for children like me; a place where I ould be surrounded by equals in go blend instead of constanly standing out,' Skyler added. 'I whole heartely agree!' answered Connor. While talking to eachother the two children concluded that they had been raised with the same idea's and ideals about being different and fitting in nonetheless. The both of them had always felt loved and never once had had the feeling they were different of strange. Plus both Connor and Skyler had anxiously counted don the days until they could start classes and figure out what their ability where and how they could devolop them. *** After the little tour of the school it was finally time to go to the classroom where they would have their lessons and all ten children were asked to pick a table. They then would have to be tethered to the ground so they could learn to walk after they could stand. This wouldn't hurt of course, cause they would just be weight down a little and their wings could still flutter. Each kid had their own unique set of wings, from purple silver, to golden pink, to white golden etc and they all fluttered and these wings where bound to their own abilities and personality. All of the kids where tethered down now and they all were looking at Miss Waverly with looks full of wonder and hopefulness. When she finally took her seat all noise stopped immediately and all eyes turned to her. She raised her voice once and said: 'Welcome Violet, Mathew, Anabelle, Skyler, Connor, Arin and Aron, Bayiloa, Balefire, Exaya and Atil. You each have your own unique skill that we'll from now on refer to as an ability, but you are all gifted in your own way. Over the next four months we are going to discover the ability of each and every one of you and then spend the rest of the time to train it and learned how to walk and speak in different languages, but I think you've got that covered don't you Atil?' Miss Waverly said, with a smile at the girl, and it made her blush, when all the kids turned their heads too. 'Alright then, let's get started with a little introduction', said the teacher.
All kids then said their name and something unique about them. Violet, played the piano and the flute and sang in her own band of which she was the only member, Mathew was writing a book, Anabelle had her own child clothing line, Connor played four different instruments and wrote his own symphonies in Latin, Arin and Aron had built an entire house together, Bayiloa run her own hair salon, Balefire was good with saber, bow and arrow and throwing knifes, Exaya could ride her own car and Atil was fluent in Spanish, German, Italian, English, French, Norwegian and Greek.
When all the introducing was over, Miss Waverly looked impressed and said this this might be her brightest class yet and that she had high hopes for them at which all kids looked happy and proud. Miss Waverly told the children, which from now on will be revered to as little students, cause that's what they are now, to get their quill and parchment and write as two page essay about what they just said they exceled at. At that all the little students went to work and for the next two hours all you could her was the sound of quill on paper and quills in ink pots, while everyone went to work on their essays to make their teacher proud.
In the last hour all the little students were asked to stop writing or finish up quickly, so they could learn how to walk for the first time in their short second life. That didn't go as easy, because at first they just started to flutter, until the teacher gently held back their wings and forced them to carefully use legs for the first time. When the bus drove up to the doorstep of the castle Arin and Aron had just mastered to take their first steps as the last two in to class.
The kids made their way to the bus and within seconds of getting in to their seats, every single kid was asleep until they reached their homes and could be handed to the parents and put to bed, which concluded their first day in school…
