3 months ago- Vegas
"Damn, that chick is fine" the voice of Harry a man he met less than two hours ago nudged him with his elbow
"She's alright" Dylan shrugged sipping his beer
"Alright? She's got legs for days, a gorgeous face and don't get me started on that arse"
"Are you always this crass towards women?"
"Only when they look like her, dude look at those god damn legs" he pointed,
turning his head to look across at the woman Harry was salivating over Dylan did his best to hide his groan when his eyes skimmed over a great pair of legs.
Working his way up he bit his lips when he noticed the dress she was wearing had a low cut back and it was evident she wasted wearing a bra or if she was the strap was hiding behind the back of the chair.
"Told ya she was fine" Harry laughed
"I think you've had enough Harry" Dylan shook his head turning back to face him while shifting uncomfortably in his chair
"I've had one beer and maybe more then I can count in shots but I know something fine when I see it"
"Mm-hmm"
"Why don't you go talk to her?"
"I'm not interested in having a Vegas fling I'm here to relax"
"And what perfect way then to take a woman home and not remember her name the next morning"
"Because I'm not like that Harry, a woman isn't just an object to me okay"
"Okay dude" he held his hands up when Dylan arose to stand
"I'm going to get another round you want anything?"
"Nah I'm all good"
"Great" he nodded making his way to the bar.
Leaning against the bar while Dylan waited for the bartender to get his drink he turned a the same exact moment as the blonde and their eyes met,
giving her a soft smile and getting a blush in return his slid his way towards her stopping far enough away but just close enough to be able to smell her lavender perfume
"Celebrating?" he questioned looking at her shot of tequila
"What because women can't drink shots?"
"In my experience women don't exactly drink tequila unless they want to forget something"
"I…"
"So what are you trying to forget?" he turned slightly when his beer was placed in front of him before focusing back on her
"Today's my thirtieth birthday, well technically tomorrow is back in Australia"
"Your from Australia?"
"Ah yeah, you can't tell?" she teased
"As a fellow Aussie the accent dosen't really hit my ears"
"No I suppose it dosen't"
"I'm Dylan and you are?" he extended a hand
"I'm wanting to forget tonight, will you help?" she avoided the question and he's extended hand
"You want me to help, but you barley know me"
"You're a fellow Aussie and that's good enough for me" she pushed a shot towards him
"Well then, Happy Birthday mysterious stranger" he smiled lifting a glass and clinking it against the one she was holding.
Stumbling through the door to her hotel room five hours later Kate laughed kicking the door closed behind them and dumping her shoes and handbag on the floor
"I'm so drunk right now" she giggled moving further into the room
"I think the bar tender was a little disappointed when we took our business else wear" Dylan laughed
"Thank you for tonight, I really needed it"
"Hey you invited me to join you, I should be the one thanking you"
"And did you have an idea as to how you could do that?" she teased turning back to face him
"I'm going to fuck you"
"What?"
"You heard me" he stalked forward pushing her back against the wall
"I do believe we are both a little to drunk for that"
"Which is what will make it all the more exciting for sure" he smirked pushing his lips passionately against hers she crumbled wrapping her arms around his shoulders
"This is going to be fun" she groaned deepening the kiss and pushing him back towards the bed…
Present Time-
"Another night, another cold beer at Flynn's" Dylan mumbled while glancing around at everyone's favourite pub owned by an ex Naval Sailor and his wife of ten years,
downing the cool liquid he placed the glass on the dented bar with an unnecessary thud
"Are you right mate? You know how the wife feels about you denting her custom-made bar" Mike stopped across from him
"This old thing is already dented she wouldn't even notice"
"I heard that" his wife Clara's voice answered when she placed a box of fresh beer in the bottom fridge
"Don't listen to him love he's just had to many"
"I've had one light" Dylan pushed his empty glass forward
"And that's all your gonna get we close in an hour"
"That means I have enough time for at least two more before closing"
"Not this time" he grabbed the dirty glass placing it on a nearby tray
"Mike come on"
"You hear the man Dyl besides don't you have the early shift tomorrow?" Clara answered closing the fridge door
"I start at lunch tomorrow so just one more?" he held up a finger
"God give me strength…" she rolled her eyes with despair and headed back to the office.
"Hi Mikey" a soft voice answered from beside Dylan
"Hiya Katie, another Martini?"
"Gracias" she smiled placing a twenty on the bar
"Hi" Dylan blurted out staring at her with confusion
"Uh hi"
"I don't believe we've been 'properly' introduced I'm.."
"He's a lug head" Mike interrupted placing her martini on the bar
"A lug head, interesting choice of name" she laughed picking up her glass "thanks Mikey" she smiled walking back to her table
"Dude what was that" Dylan groaned once she'd left
"Hands off" Mike pushed a glass of water in front of him
"What?"
"I said hands off, she dosen't need someone like you in her life"
"Someone like me?"
"A womanizer, look Kate just got divorced last year so she.."
"Someone divorced that piece of arse?" he teased
"I say this as a brother-in-law who will seriously kick your arse right now, stay away from Kate McGregor"
"Kate McGregor hey?"
"My words aren't even making an impact right now are they?"
"Nope" Dylan smiled lifting his water up to his lips
"I knew becoming friends with you would cause me trouble" he shook his head taking off down the bar.
Looking back over his shoulder at the blonde who was sipping on her martini while enticed in a conversation with the woman next to her Dylan put on his best grin in the hopes she's look across at him.
Thankfully for him it didn't take long before he was celebrating a little inside when her eyes were torn off her friend and connected with his across the room,
giving her a small wink he couldn't help but feel giddy when her face turned red and she choked on her drink.
Turning back to his own drink he shook his head when he heard a pair of heels tapped across the floor and a shiver run down his spine
"Are you going to stare at me all night?" she asked leaning sideways on the bar
"Does it bother you if I do?" he placed his drink down, proceeding to turn in his chair so they were facing
"No but maybe you might want to focus your attention on someone else who will be worth your time"
"And you're not?"
"I don't date Sailors" she shook her head
"What makes you think I'm a sailor?"
"Your practically have it tattooed on your forehead"
"You don't like Sailors?"
"I never said that, I just don't date them" she shrugged
"Trust me darlin, I'm not looking for a date" he smirked moving out of his chair to stand neither of them underestimating how much room there'd be
"I…" she mumbled looking at his strong broad chest
"I prefer the causal type of strings and you know Sailors spend most of their time at sea so it works out well"
"I don't do casual"
"Neither do I" he stepped closer so she was forced to look up at him
"But you just…" she paused when he leaned his head down next to hers
"What I really want is to take you into the supply closet and ravish you until you scream my name but I'll settle for a date"
"A date?"
"Yes you know when two people go out for food or to.."
"I know what a date is" she interrupted stepping back to put some space between them
"Then what do you say, Kate McGregor?" he added her name in a seductive way
"I'm not interested Sailor" she moved past him towards the exit.
Following behind her with large strides Dylan grabbed her arm pulling her into a side alley and pushing her up against the cold brick
"Don't do this Dylan" she looked up at him sadly
"When I saw you at that bar I instantly recognized you the only difference is three months ago I never got your name"
"And there was a reason for that"
"Yeah I know you don't date sailors" he reached a hand up brushing a lock of hair behind her ear
"Glad we've established that so you want to let me go now?" she placed a hand on his chest ready to push him back
"Why didn't you tell me you were Flynn's sis-in-law? Or that you came from the same town in Australia"
"We'd just met where lots of alcohol was consumed why would I tell you anything"
"I don't know you were pretty open in the hotel room after"
"It was Vegas there was never a likelihood that we'd ever meet again"
"And yet here we are" he ran his hand down her arm "in the same town at the same pub"
"A coincidence"
"Nah I'd rather like to believe it's fate"
"I don't believe in fate"
"And neither did I until you showed up here" he stepped closer running his hand along her waist
"I so desperately want to pin you against this wall and fuck you senseless" he whispered against her cheek
"Are you always so pushy"
"Only when it's towards things I want"
"It's not going to happen Sailor" she pushed him back "not tonight or any other night"
"You'll come around"
"You really think so?"
"You've tasted the forbidden fruit there's no way you won't come back for seconds" he teased while she straightened up her dress
"We'll see, goodnight Dylan" Kate shook her head moving out of the alley and down the footpath.
