First day of school at Garrison Highschool, was set to start bright and early at 8am. Most teens were up 3 hours earlier just to get ready, if they even slept that is. The first day of class was a day for students to start fresh and be someone they weren't the year before. It was a day for fresh starts and making new friends.

MOST teens looked forward to the bright September day. Except for Katie holt.

No, First day of school was anything but great for her. Any day where she had to get up early and be social was not a favorite on her list.

The alarm clock blasted from her nightstand, sending a very high screeched message, that it was time for her to get up and face the world and It's greatness.

Katie groaned.

An autumn breeze blew in from her window that she kept open for her neighbor and friend, Keith. As long as it wasn't bad weather, the window usually stayed open. It was much easier than having the boy bang against it until she let him.

A big tree with large branches had grown up in between their windows, leaving a path for them to walk across into each other's room. Honestly it was the brunette's favorite thing about the two story house.

That was until she heard an annoying yell from the opposing hole in her wall.

Peaking her rat nest of morning hair out from underneath her blanket, honey brown eyes followed and met grayish purple. His pretty boy face was smirking at her from her window sill.

She really wanted to punch that face.

Ducking back under the blanket, rolling over to face away from him. He laughed at her as she heard him crawl the rest of the way in.

….he laughed at her.

Who laughed this early?!

"Come on pidge. It's time to get up, you have 30 minutes to get ready so we can leave."

Another groan greeted him.

Laughing, the asian boy grabbed the edge of her green comforter and ripped it from her small body, earning himself a squeak in shock. "I'm going down stairs to make you a cup of coffee to go," he said going to the door. "If you aren't up by the time it's done, I'm pouring it on you."

The door clicked shut behind him and not two seconds later a mop of brown popped up from the bed. "Did he say 30 minutes?!" She squealed as she rushed out of the bed and promptly fell to the floor.

A laugh from the asian boy was heard from downstairs.

Damn Keith, he was waiting on that.

Running to get ready, pidge grabbed a black and white striped shirt from her closet and a pair of light blue skinny jeans and tugged them on as quickly as she could. Hopping over to her vanity with one leg still out of her jeans, she grabbed a brush and pulled it through the long hair.

It had grown all the way to the small of her back. After a small incident with Matt, her brother, blowing a bubblegum bubble too big, It had exploded into the hair of the person closest to it. Which happened to be her….unfortunately. she had to go through almost a year of bad hair days and short ponytails. Good news was though, she had gotten to beat the crap out of Matt for him not to EVER want to touch another piece of gum again.

Pulling half of it into a messy bun and letting the rest cascade down her back, Pidge grabbed her green converse from the floor and green sweater from the hanging hook in her closet and ran to her bathroom to brush her teeth and placed her contacts in. She had glasses, her brother's old ones, but she preferred contacts for out in public. Finally shrugging at her appearance in the mirror, she left the bathroom, and bolted down the stairs.

Keith was just pouring the last bit of the heaven that was coffee, into a coffee cup with a lid. He smiled at her as she hopped onto the counter beside him and took, what she considered liquid gold, from his hands.

"I'm impressed. A whole 7 minutes," he smiled, looking down. He pointed a finger towards her still bare feet. "Trying the new year barefoot?" He smirked.

Rolling her eyes, Pidge grabbed her shoes next to her and started to put them on. "You said I had to be up, not fully dressed."

"Good morning you two."

Colleen Holt came into the kitchen, smiling at them as she grabbed the orange juice from the fridge.

Again, pidge didn't know how people were smiling at 7:30 in the morning.

Both she and Keith said a Good morning back, the latter grabbing an apple from the fruit bowl on the island and giving Colleen a kiss on the cheek.

Keith, practically was another son to her. He was probably over at her house more than Matt was and that says something considering the boy lived at a college with his boyfriend, Shiro, not even 45 minutes away. She honestly believed the boy just used his dorm to sleep.

Shiro was just as bad. The older Japanese boy was Keith's adopted older brother. They were both adopted by Dr. Kolvian when they were 8. With Shiro being the oldest and moving in next door first, Matt had taken a liking to him as friends since they were only a year apart in age. But of course as time went on the liking became a bit more than friends and the two started dating about two years ago.

Both Pidge and Kieth found that their brother's went well together. They had even encouraged them to date. Neither one of them really cared that they were gay. Especially with keith coming out not long after, that he too, was gay.

Pidge couldn't have loved her friend more the night he had climbed into her room, in tears. Crying because he thought something was incredibly wrong with him.

She comforted him by telling him that nothing was wrong with him, that he just had one more unique thing about him, that made him so great.

And then she laughed and called him a big baby. Pidge didn't do mushy and he knew it.

Placing her sweater on her shoulders, the short brunette hopped off the counter and gave her mother a kiss to the cheek as well. "Love you, mom."

"Love you too, katie, have a good time at school."

Pidge grabbed her coffee off the counter and her bag by the door. Keith was already waiting for her with the door open, spinning his truck keys around his finger.

Keith's baby was sitting parked in between their house, in front of their tree.

The old beat up red Chevy looked to have been washed recently and pidge guessed that he had been up way earlier than she.

No doubt, First day made him want to clean it up all nice and sparkly.

Cosmo, Keith's giant husky barked from the bed of the truck. In all honesty he was her dog as well. After bae-bae died, Keith went out and got cosmo from the Altea County Shelter. He knew that bae-bae was her dog more than anyone else's and even though she wasn't ready for another pet, cosmo would definitely help comfort her. The husky had even started to sleep with her not long after Keith introduced them. He just crawled right through their old doggy door and made himself at home.

Wagging his tail energetically, cosmo jumped out the back and ran for the brunette. "Hi, baby!" Pidge laughed as she leaned down for him to give her face kisses. Bae-bae was the only one she sweet talked and now the same goes for cosmo. It surprised so many people how high her voice would go when she talked to them.

Dogs are better than humans.

"Alright, you two can stare at each other lovingly after school," Keith said as he climbed behind the wheel, making Pidge laugh before she to, climbed in.

"You're just jealous that he gives me kisses and doesn't give you any."

"Oh yeah, the lack of dog slobber on my face is irritating."

Pidge laughed again, waving goodbye to cosmo, as they pulled onto the road.
