Kara stared at the tv with a heartbroken look. No, it wasn't true! It can't be true. Maybe he just fell and nobody saw him get up. Yeah, maybe he is with Batman. Kara's phone then rang and she looked at the caller ID, hoping it was Kal-El calling to let her know he was alive. She leaned over and looked at her phone.
Alex
*calling*
Kara's heart sank. "Hello," Kara whispered, her chest tightening as they replayed the fight against Doomsday.
"Kara! Kara turn the news off!" Alex said firmly. "I don't want you watching that. I'm sure it's a misunderstanding and Clark is going to fly up to your apartment soon. Or at least text you," Kara just sat like a statue. Her cousin was dead. Her only living relative was dead. She really has failed her mother.
"You'll journey to Earth to look after your baby cousin, Kal-El,"
"I won't fail Kal-El. Or you!"
But she did fail Kal-El, and her mother. Not only did she get stuck in the phantom zone for 24 years and arrive on earth to find her 'baby cousin' a 25 year old man, but now her cousin was dead... and no amount of sunlight can bring him back. "Kara!" Alex said. Kara snapped out of her trance and realized she was still on call to her sister. "Kara, it's not your fault!" Kara scoffed.
"Alex. I was meant to protect him!" she said firmly. "If I was there with Kal and-and Batman then I would have still failed! I mean, I can't- I can't even protect you... Alex, and you are on the run from humans!" she ranted.
Kara then did the one thing she never did on the phone to her sister. She hung up on her. She then threw her phone on the floor and walked to her bedroom. She needs to wallow. She needs to cry and scream and shout and unleash too much heat vision for it to be safe.
Clark Kent is dead.
Superman is dead.
Kal-El is dead.
The last son of Krypton is dead.
Her (technically) baby cousin is dead and there is nothing she can do about it.
TWO YEARS LATER
Kara woke up. Had a shower. Got dressed. Ate a few popsticks from last night and then left her apartment. She went to CatCo and greeted Winn, said hi to James. She wasn't... Kara Danvers anymore. When Clark died a part of her died too. To make matters worse, she is feeling even more depressed as Mon-El has recently gone too.
"Hey Kara," Winn said, she turned around and he handed her her tablet. "You might wanna see this," he said.
She looked at the tablet and almost dropped it.
Superman Alive?
Watch live as hero's Wonder Woman, Kid Zoom and two guests try to talk to the supposed Man of Steel.
Kara watched as a half cyborg looking man fired at him and how he retaliated. She watched as Diana tried to talk to him, how she called him by his Kryptonian name and he barely batted an eye. "No," she whispered in dread as he took on all four super heroes but he ultimately won. Then Batman came in. "Kal-El. Stop," she whispered, falling into Winsn chair. She was thankful there weren't many people near her.
She saw him through Batman down and float down. It was Lois! Kara dropped the tablet when it was done and walked wordlessly out the building; not even caring when she accidentally bumped into Lena and James.
She flew up in the air and shot over to Metropolis. She text Lois and she said that they were in Kansas. That's where she was heading.
"Kal," she whispered. Kal-El turned around and saw his cousin fall to her knees. He rushed over to her and engulfed her in a hug which she gladly welcomed. "I though-thought you were dead!" she sobbed.
"I was Kar. I don't know how this happened either," he said. Kara held him tightly. She wasn't ever gonna let go. He was her cousin and she was meant to protect him. She would do just that!
J'onn watched the news and smirked when he saw Lois get into the picture. "Good choice Lois," he said... before turning it off.
