Hello, Soledad here. And this is the first fanfic that I ever wrote. Both Hades and Fire emblem three houses are games that I absolutely adore to play, top switch games for sure. So I decided to make a fic about the two of them. The story would not follow any of the routes but they will still be spoilers for both games, so read with your own caution.
The story is a harem, so characters are already choose like Marianne and Mercedes but I'm open to suggestions for characters of both genders. Although they will be also couples outside Zagreus's zone.
Chapter 1: The outside world
How long has happen since that day? He couldn't tell, his world doesn't know night and day. It was an eternal cycle for all the realms, nothing matter there not even death. Live. Death. It was all meaningless in his kingdom. He could die, yes but he will just returned to the beginning. Starting all over again.
How many tries? Fifty? A hundred? A thousand? He lost account. At some point, dying become a habit of his. Yet for every dead he learn something: about positions, weak points, enemy movement, and so on. If what doesn't kills you makes you stronger then what kills you makes you smarter. Achilles train him well, he will be proud of him. Patroclus give him some tips about fighting as well, which were very useful for his escapees.
In his quest he met with a lot of new faces, heroes of legends that he grow up with. Some were friends, other foes. They help him to go on in his journey and others were to stop them. He was stopped by many beings: The furies, the hydra, the champions of Elysium and other beings that managed to kill him. It was a hard task but he preserve. Yet it was an opponent that he couldn't defeat. The last boss, the one who stand between him and his freedom.
His father.
Hades, the god of the underworld.
The god live up to his legend. A formidable warrior of great strength and skill. His spear was more lethal that anything he ever encounter. How was able to use his powers to push him like no else did was exhausting.
Hades kill him more than anything or anyone did at the previous stages. Even with the help of the gods of the Olympus, defeating Hades was a task were beyond a mere god as he. Yet, the prince didn't step back. He keep trying and trying, and trying until he finds a way to defeat him. It was a little funny, his father used to scold him to be lazy about his studies and he should listen to him. Yet when he started to defy him was when he managed to mature. Dying so many times and facing many obstacles changed a lot of his mind. He got smarted, colder and skillful. Every talk, every help he got was a blessing that he appreciate from the bottom of his being.
Right now, he didn't just wanted to escape to get his freedom but to thank all those who decided to help him escape. His friends and family.
"Haven't you have enough, boy?" His father speak to him since the fight started. "When your stupidity will end?"
"If you let me go, you'll not have to deal with this, father."
"Again, you talk nonsense."
His father was ruthless as always, even after sustaining so many wounds he didn't seem to get tired or weaker. Nothing less of one of the gods who take down the titans. Zagreus wanted to be positive that he was getting closer to win but even after all the attacks he landed, he didn't felt closer to victory. Twelve strikes of his sword was an equivalent of 1 attack of his father's spear. And he had his body and weaponry augmented!
The young god avoided his father attacks and spells. He couldn't have a second to think, every move was made on instinct. Every fight against his father always push him to the limit. He merely knew what he was doing, everything happen so fast that he was not even truly on the fight.
His master told him that in the heat of the battle, a warrior enter a state that his body acted involuntarily and do all the job. It was like a special "zone" that only the most exceptional individual could enter. Zagreus was constantly getting in and out thanks to his father.
He strike his father and dodge. Nothing seem to stop his father.
"Enough." His father stop his attacks and let go of his weapon. Zagreus knew that pose. He was going to shot beams at him at every possible angle. He usually would hid behind something but after all those fights, there was nothing else to hide behind. Add the explosive skulls about to explode and you have a certain death.
As before, his father put him into a corner. He was out of ideas and ammo. The next attack will kill him for sure. There's was nowhere to run.
The prince strengthen his grip and raise his sword. He couldn't escape his father attack nor defend for it. So he had one thing to do, one thing to put all his money on. A gamble. If he couldn't run away from him then he will go to him. It was suicide. His plan revolved to strike a dragon's head before he could it was about to breath fire. But it was all he had left to do.
He had nothing to lose.
So Zagreus arm himself with bravery and launch towards his father. His father didn't even flinch at his actions, like always he thought that he was being stupid. Hades was confident that his boy couldn't win, his blast had a very quick start so even if the boy managed to get close the beam will turn him into ashes.
Even so, he didn't stop. He used Hermes' speed and Zeus' augmented dash. He had to use every tool at his disposal and the boons of the gods were the way to victory. Zagreus added Artemis' precision alongside Ares' strength to the equation. The god look at his father's spear, the blast was about to start. He bitted his mouth, he pushed his body a little further of his limits. Managing to break it.
The tip of the stygian blade touched the core of the blast, for a moment his body was covered in fear of an imminent dead. But he had a trick card, another boon he got from his distant family. An ability granted by the goddess Athena. Reflection.
Hades' blast was realized but it didn't strike him. No, instead it was mirrored towards his owner. More specific, his heart.
"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" The way his father screamed perturbed the prince. Hades was on terrible pain after that attack. "H-How…? BREUGh!" The man spilled his own blood from his mouth, meaning one thing:
Zagreus's victory.
"Aahhh…..go….go! Get out!" His father was on his knees a sight that he never truly thought to see. Zagreus composed himself, this was no time to flatter.
"I told you I would, father. And I'm going to. Goodbye."
"Wait! If you…if youuu….aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaHHH!" The Styx reclaimed his father's soul like happen to him many times. "There's no…escape…." And just like that, his father vanished.
He did it.
He defeat him.
He escape Hades.
He was free.
The young prince didn't know what to say or do? Scream? Laugh? Cry? It was so surreal, after all those trials he managed to get out. To see his real mother: Persephone. Zagreus once again arm himself with bravery and push forward, the world of the living was behind that gate.
The moment he put a foot inside the living world he was greet with darkness. Zagreus was confused and terrified. Did…did he died again?! How?! In his rushed despair he moved his arms and hit something. It was a wall. He tried to move but couldn't, his body couldn't extend his limbs. Why?
Then he realize, he was inside something. Zagreus once again extended both arms and push the shadow wall. With ease he open his jail, he immediately went out and realize that somehow he ended inside a coffin.
"How did I get inside that thing?" The god look around him. Whenever he was, it was a huge place and it was more tomb inside this unknown location. "A crypt? This is how the human world looks like?"
Zagreus step out of the coffin and walked around, it was too quiet. No human to be seen. He saw an entrance at the end of the room, inside of it were stairs that go all the way up. Without hesitation, he walk in. The stairs were too long, it seem that it took forever and when he reached the top he was greeted by another door.
"Hope that this doesn't lead me to another coffin." He commented while opening the door but this time it wasn't darkness what was behind but light in some kind of way. He was inside some kind of castle, he has never seen a structure like this before. Zagreus look upside and the sky was full of stars. "So that's how the moon looks like…"
The books and illustration he saw at the library couldn't make justice of how majestic it was. He almost lost himself staring at its beauty. But this was no time to get lost, he needed to keep walking. Zagreus decided to get inside the building, the place give him the vibe of a temple. The serenity and peace that the building gave him remind him of the temples he read in books.
It was massive, he never saw such construction in his life. Which god this temple belong to? The statues didn't resemble any god he knew, perhaps they were new heroes that were immortalized into statues for their deeds? No, he would have hear such stories. Then again, he never heard about Chaos until he decided to escape Hades.
He walk, the place look empty. Perhaps it was close at night and reopen at day. Weird thing to do but maybe it was common for mortals. Zagreus kept looking until he find a figure in front of a massive statue of a woman.
Zagreus met a lot of beings is his life but this was the first time that he ever interacted with one that wasn't dead. The mortal before the statue was a young girl, wearing an odd uniform. It was very modest, merely showing cleavage. For what he could see, the girl was praying to the statue. Meaning that the woman immortalized in stone was indeed a goddess. Maybe she was a priestess.
What should he do? Should he talk to her? She was currently praying and he didn't want to be rude. Praying to a god was a serious business…but he was a god as well. Maybe this goddess could forgive him to interrupt their conversation.
"Excuse me, miss?" The god talked to the praying girl making turn around abruptly. "Forgive me, I didn't mean to scare you." Zagreus now got a better look on the girl, her hair was blue and tied by a crowd braid, yet it give him a very messy aura like she didn't put the effort of getting done. The same could be said of her face. She was pretty but she didn't take care of herself, evidenced by the bag under her eyes.
"Listen I don't want to bother you, but can you tell me where I am?"
The girl stared at him, she looked terrified for some reason. "Are you ok, miss?"
"Y-Y-you-you are wounded…." She said to him and she was right. He still had the wounds of his previous encounter with his father.
"Oh yes, don't worry about it. I'm fine-"
*Split*
All of the sudden his mouth was splitting a red liquid that he was too familiar with. The prince touch his mouth and it was tainted by his own blood. How could this be? He has never bleed out, sure he could get poison but he could never die by blood lost.
"BREEUGHH!"
"KKYYYYAAAHHH!"
"No…it can't be, I just get out…" His head was spinning around, his vision getting blurrier. Was he dying? "C'mon, Zag…you must keep…" The next thing that the prince saw was the floor meeting his face.
