Lizard awoke with a searing pain in his neck. He felt as if he was burning alive. He roared in pain. This went on for what seemed like ages. When it stopped, Lizard lay there. For a moment, he just lay and rested. Finally, he got up and looked around. He was in the desert. He turned around. Was that...?
He broke into a run in the direction of a familiar oasis. He ran as fast as he could as a hut came into view. Yes. This was it. He made it to the small patch of life and into the hut, not bothering to knock. Dust went flying everywhere. He looked around the dark space. Nothing. He stepped forward. The wooden floorboards made a "creak" sound. He started to panic. Were his parents... Gone?
He didn't know what to do. He looked around again and thought. There were only a few people he knew, but he didn't know how long he'd been gone. The closest one, he knew, was... But they hadn't spoken in years.
I have to, he thought. He stepped out of his childhood home. He looked down in despair and gasped. His talons seemed to look different. He seemed to have actually aged. He pushed that all away though. He had more important matters to deal with.
He looked in the direction of the Scorpion den, south from his home. He breathed. For now, he thought. I'll find Yucca.
