Ken stared at himself in the mirror as a voice mocked him. "You'll never be as smart as Sam. I could be, but you, not so much. And you really think those so-called friends of yours really care? You don't belong here, Ken. Disappear and let me take over. You know I'm the better option."
Ken shook his head rapidly, "You're lying, just like you always do. I have friends now and they care. You have no control over me anymore."
"Then why am I still here?" He heard laughter in his mind.
Ken held his head at the loudness in his head before opening a bottle. He took a pill quickly and sat down, waiting for it to kick in. "You aren't real anymore. You're just in my head. A side effect. But once I start remembering my pills daily, you will be gone, just a memory."
After no response, Ken gave a small sigh of relief and headed to finish his homework.
