Seni Con Bekedim - Waiting For You is a short lived series about understanding and excepting what one's destiny has in store you especially the strings that bring them together.
The series begins with a baby just born being put into hospital nursery with a teenage boy who is his older brother looking at him. The nurse asks if he would like to carry the baby to their mother when a devastating earthquake happens and puts the entire hospital into shambles.
A flashback is made to the prior day when Kadir the teenage boy is talking to his father - Riza about life and how things happen. Riza explains the term Tavuk which means " Nothing happens by accident ….. everything happens for a reason "…. He then relates the story of how he met his mother all because of the ring that he wares. The ring was responsible in bringing his mother and father together… in that if the ring is lost the person returning it is the person you are destined to be with. Riza gives the ring to Kadir and tells him to believe that the ring has the power to find his true love because of the invisible connections that each person has….. he must believe.
The terrible earthquake separates Kadir, the baby and the mother and not until a year has passed that Kadir is reunited with his mother who is living with her father in Istanbul. The mother Mihre has married her former fiancé Camel when she was told that Riza was killed in the Earthquake and Camel was responsible for returning her baby to her.
Kadir now 27 years later is a middle aged business man who lives away from the family because he has never trusted Cemal and his shady dealings. While on a business trip to Saudi Arabia he accidentally looses his ring at the airport checking only to have it found by Ayliz a beautiful young woman 17 years younger than him. His father's words and the story of the ring now bring a new significance to this meeting and the possibility that Ayliz is the one he has been waiting for.
Though Ayliz rebuffs his initial request to meet, their business dealings manage to keep them in contact since Ayliz's fiancé - Serkan is trying to get a contract with Kadir's company and is willing to do anything for money. Kadir manages to get Ayliz to meet with him when he begins to explain why he is so interested in her and how the ring brought them together. Even though Ayliz finds him charming and the unexplainable attraction for him she declines to pursue the coincidence until Kadir gives her the ring to do with it as she wants and then see if the ring with her once again return to him.
When Ayliz explains to her best friend Sebnem about her meeting Kadir and the story of the ring, Sebum encourages her to pursue Kadir and fulfill their destiny. Due to their business dealings they continue to meet , yet Ayliz refuses to relent to her feeling for Kadir . She agrees to go through with the wedding to Serkan who has proven over and over again is not worthy of her. It was even revealed that Serkan's proposal was a result of his collaboration with Sibel , Ayliz distant mother who claims that great wealth will come her way.
4 months pass and Kadir's grandfather asks him to return to Instanbul to manage the company since he found out the lie that Cemal has bestowed on the family. Cemal sensing that everything he has been seeking to do all these years will be exposed confronts the grandfather and kills him before the truth could be told. That truth being that Erol, the baby that Cemal brought to Mihre wasn't her son but rather Cemal's own son mothered by Sibel his former wife. Cemal made Mihre believe that Erol was her son so that he would be heir to the company and the large fortune of the grandfather.
This deceit started a spiral of events that unravels the interwoven links of each member of the series to each other. When Selahattin with his wife Zahide and son Utmut arrive in Istanbul with a wish for a greater life turns into immediate tragedy with the death of Zahide due to Erol's way of life. Selahattin blames Erol for his wife's death and seeks revenge by attempting to kill Erol. Though Erol wants to admit that the death of Zahide was an unfortunate accident , Cemal devises another lie by paying the gardner Hassan to take the blame and go to prison and showing that Erol was not at the scene of the death.
The power of the ring reveals itself on the day that Ayliz is about to marry Serkan when a wedding gift to her is the ring that Kadir had given her. Ayliz now realizes that her destiny is with Kadir and cancels the wedding. Ayliz returns the ring to Kadir along with her heart and the destined romance begins.
The first 11 episodes try to slowly bring forth the strings that bring Kadir and Ayliz to their pasts and how Cemal's and Sibel's lies almost ruined the lives of those they supposedly loved.
Cemal being the arch villain of the story had convinced himself that everything he has done was for the betterment of his son Erol. However, his arrogance and greed was responsible for Erol's eventual death. Sibel's inability to tell the truth until it was to late, resulted in Erol never knowing that she was his mother or that Ayliz was his twin sister. Ayliz's rejects both Cemal and Sibel as her parents.
In the 13th episode most of the hidden lies are revealed by Sibel causing great harm and confusion to Kadir, Ayliz, and Mihre while leaving Selahattin's adoptive family in turmoil and fear that what they had suspected is true and the Selahattin was the missing son of Mihre. The series ends with a one year leap showing a happy blended family dinner at the mansion along with the new baby of Kadir and Ayliz.
Episode 14 will show how everyone unraveled all the lies promulgated by Cemal and Sibel and the restoration of trust and family ties that will bind them to each other from here on out.
Selahattin resistance to accepting Mihre as his mother softened when he heard his son Utmut call Mihre grandmother
Mihre: Son… nothing will change the fact that I gave you life…. You are my son…. Cemal cheated you, he cheated me …. Kadir never trusted him and he cheated Erol his own son.
Selahattin: how do I go forward…. I lost the love of my life, Zahide because of this family
Mihre: Son… Selo…. I understand your grief as well as anyone…. When I was told that I lost my sons and my beloved Riza …. I was shattered…. I wanted to die …. I no longer wanted to live without my family… When I first saw you at my father's funeral I was taken back at how much you looked like your father… Riza. There isn't a day that I don't think of him.
Selahattin: I wish I could be like Utmut…. He is so much like Zahide…. So loving and so trusting….. but this anger that is within me
Mihre: You are so much like your father…. He was stubborn and he would get very angry… but he was determined and when he loved….. his love was unwavering … I could never love anyone else
Selahattin: Was my father's body ever found….. I would like to go to his grave site
Mihre: That has been one of my greatest pains…. I never got to say goodbye to him … When Cemal came to me with Erol and took us to my father who was against me marrying Riza …. I was forced to marry Cemal and never mention Riza again
Selahattin: Will you tell me more about my father…. I have so many voids in me because I don't really know who I am
Mihre: I will tell you everything you want to know…. Now that I have found you and Utmut, my heart has come alive again…. Please give us the chance to show you how much I ….. we love you. Kadir has been the only one I've ever connected to Riza…. Now I have you and Riza is once again with me
Selahattin: I first asked How I go forward….. after talking to you the question needs to be… How do we go forward… you have to understand me…. I will never be Erol … I'm me …. I want to earn my way
Mihre: your birthright is that you are my son …. Everything that was entrusted to Erol will now be entrusted to you and Utmut….. Kadir worked very hard to make the business what it is and My father always believed in Kadir. If you want to learn ….. Kadir is the one that can teach you….. if you and Utmut want to come and live here with us….. this will always be your home…. You have choices ….. I will make no apologies… I want you and Utmut to be with me…. I've missed so much of your life ….. I no longer want to miss another second of it ….. I want this house to be alive again with children…. Now that Ayliz is pregnant….. you will be an uncle.
Selahattin: How can that happen especially since my anger stabbed Kadir… My shame isn't enough
Mihre: Selo…. Kadir is your brother….. he understood your pain better than anyone…. He didn't press charges even though I was afraid for his life. The more you talk to Kadir…. The more you will understand your brother , but also yourself. Not only will he be your brother, he will also be your father…. He was the first to hold you when you were born….. he protected you during that earthquake at the risk of his own life.
Selahattin: Utmut really loves his Uncle Kadir and Aunt Ayliz….. now that they really are his Uncle and Aunt. Kadir loves Utmut like his own…. I know that …. I will talk to him
Mihre: Selo… son… my arms have been aching to finally hug and hold you…. May I
Selahattin has waited 27 years to feels his mothers hug and embrace and was not disappointed . Mihre hugged him tightly so that he could feel her heart pounding against his and then the gentle loving kisses against his cheeks. His real mother was now in his arms as he gently kissed her cheeks and tears flowed from each other.
Mihre: Selo… I love you so…. I'm so thankful that your back with me …. She continues to kiss him with tears flowing from her eyes.
Mihre and Selahattin walk back into the house with all eyes on them. Hidayet smiles after seeing the hug and kiss between them and then comments to Mihre
Hidayet: Selo has been the best of boys…. He just has to think about things before he acts ….. just give him the time
Mihre: Like I told him…. He is so much like his father … I understand him and love him the same
Hidayet: that has always been his greatest desire to understand who he is ….. you and Kadir will help him with that
Mihre: I asked him and Utmut to live here… I hope I haven't offended you….. but I don't want to miss anymore of their lives
Hidayet: he will decide what is best for him and Utmut… I've had him for 27 years …. He knows what he needs ….. we will both allow him to determine it.
The term Tavuk once again comes into play " Nothing happens by accident….. everything happens for a reason" …. The strings that brought a lost son and brother back to their origin was in away the universe correcting a mistake by evil forces trying to change destinies. The effects of this correction can become evident in other strings being pulled and new destinies becoming evident.
Kadir and Selahattin had their talk with Kadir understanding that Selo is not Erol when it comes to the family business. Selo just wanted the opportunity to learn and earn his way. Selo was hired in an entry position with no-one knowing that he is an Eren and an equal owner in the company. Selo provided great insight into improving working relations with the employee's .
Kadir: Selo…. How long do you want to do what you are doing
Selahattin: Since no one knows who I am and that I'm one of them …. I'm getting to see what you can't … let me do this little while longer
Kadir: Are you sure
Selahattin: What I'm doing is better than anything I've ever done and I'm learning what this company is about and where I will be able to help. I've got the best of both world's right now
Kadir: I'm really proud of how you think…. You will be running this company, when I decide to retire ….. by the way is anything happening between you and Meryem or are you just remaining friends
Selahattin: She wants to be seen as Meryem and not Zahide….. she is nothing like Zahide …..I don't want to replace Zahide ….. but I miss her so …. There are times when I see Meryem I just want to go grab her and kiss her and make love to her, but that's not fair to Meryem
Kadir: What are Meryem's feelings towards you,… she hasn't moved on
Selahattin: When she first showed herself to me she couldn't understand the way I looked at her….. physically she is Zahide… when she started having feelings for Erol ….. I was jealous and she found herself in this love triangle. With Erol gone she is still holding to my looks of her. We are at a stalemate…. Both of us don't want to use the other
Kadir: do you think it's time you find out…. When I met Ayliz….. she was engaged and about to marry …. But I knew she was the one I've been waiting for…. I had to act. Brother it may be time to act…. If you want to take her to where it's only you two seeing each other and not Zahide or Erol you can. I took Ayliz on our family yacht…. You won't ever know unless you try
Selahattin: I'm a little uncomfortable about showing the family wealth…. I'm not Erol when it comes to that
Kadir: she knows who you are from that stand point…. Wasn't she the first one you talked to when you found out about us
Selahattin: She thought I was an ass for wanting not to pursue the family
Kadir: you are smart enough to know if she is only interested in your wealth and not you…. She doesn't strike me as that…. When she barged into our house and told us off she wasn't concerned about the money…. That's why I'm telling you ….. both of you need to know what your looking for from each other….. As our father told me… Tavuk … nothing happens by accident…. Everything happens for a reason. It worked for our father and mother…. It worked for Ayliz and me …. It's your turn
Selahattin: Do I give her the ring and see if she returns it
Kadir: you two aren't strangers any longer…. You've been through to much together…. You have to believe in that she can see the real you and you have to see the real her. When was the last you did something for yourself….. you've been working and learning but you haven't taken any time off. As your older brother and your boss take this weekend, surprise Meryem and find out once and for all
Selahattin: what do I do
Kadir: Just get Meryem to the dock this weekend and I'll arrange everything else
The weekend arrives Selahattin calls Meryem and asks if she has any plans for the weekend
Meryem: no…. I don't,… but why do you ask
Selahattin: would you like to spend it with me….. my brother ordered me to take some time off ….. I thought maybe you would consider being with me
Meryem: Selo….are you actually asking me out…. like on a date
Selahattin: yes… I was talking to Kadir and when he asked what was going on between us….. I didn't have an answer …. Meryem….. we've become good friends ….. but we both know their is something else …. Kadir has arranged everything , so I don't know what's in store
Meryem: either you're the most nieve person I know or a player exstraordinaire…. But since this is the first time you've even made an attempt….. I'm willing to find out…. Where are we going
Selahattin: I don't know, we have to be at the docks by noon….. I'll come by and pick you up
At the docks the captain welcomes them
Captain: Welcome Mr Selahattin and Ms Meryem….. your lunch will be served on the upper deck so that you can dine and enjoy the view. Mr Kadir has planned… if I may say a very nice weekend getaway
Meryem looks to Selo with amazement….. she has never experienced something like this
Meryem: Selo… what's going on
Selahattin: I'm as surprised as you are…. Kadir said he would take care of everything … so we will both find out
Meryem: you really don't know….. whose yacht is this
Selahattin: It's my family's
Meryem: do you realize that your stubbornness almost threw all of this away…. You are different
Selahattin: Let's see how the food is , I'm hungry
After lunch the captain informs them that they will be touring a few of the smaller islands in the Aegean Sea that have very nice cove beaches for their enjoyment and privacy. A few hours pass and the yacht anchors near a very remote island. Selo and Meryem board the little shuttle and head for the beach.
Meryem: your brother must have been a real player before Ayliz…. He even thought of swimwear for both of us….. look at this beach it's beautiful and we are the only one's here.
Selahattin: I never imagined of places like this growing up
Meryem: Selo… you've been given a second chance at life…. Enjoy it…. Let go of the past….. I want you to make me a promise… when you look at me … see me … not Zahide….. I can't compete with your dead wife….. I won't …. That's why we are the way we are.
Selahattin: I know that… but it is so hard….. your face…. Your body …. How do I make them different….. How do I love them differently
Meryem grabs Selo's hand and brings him into the ocean waves so that they can frolic in the clear blue waters.
