My Hero Academia: A Raging Storm
Chapter 1: Winds of Fate
The city streets of Ashland were bustling and the number of people walking across the cracked, concrete streets steadily began to rise as the morning sun creeped over the grey clouds, banishing the last remains of night as to welcome a new day. Ashland itself was a thriving Metropolis that stretched over Oregon, Idaho, and Washington and it contained one of the most diverse melting pots in America. While the city itself is large, the amount of heroes that patrol the city itself isn't as big. At the most there are only about a dozen pro heroes in the entire city but given the proximity to some of the larger cities in the surrounding states, crime was relatively taken care of. Ashland was even home to America's current number 4 hero who placed on the top 10 American Hero Billboards. As the morning chill slowly melted away and the sun's warmth came over the Ashland citizens, one young man walked down the streets with his head straight and his thoughts lost in the melody of the song he was listening to with his headphones.
The young man was Lukas "Luke" Storm. He was only 15 but had a well-muscled build that he had kept up from his years of martial arts and all the combat training that his family and mentors had given him so he could get used to his Quirk. Luke had a caramel colored skin tone with black hair that was cut into a buzz cut with warm hazel-green eyes that always seemed to shine whenever the light hit them the right way. He was dressed in a sleeveless, hooded, black vest with a long sleeve grey, zip-up sweatshirt that was currently open to reveal a storm blue shirt that had an image of a tribal wolf design that seemed as though it was moving in a gust of wind. Along with his black jeans, black and grey boots, beaded onyx bracelet, and the small scar on the corner of his eyebrow Luke did cut a rather impressive image. An image that said I'll be your friend but if you cross me the wrong way, I will mess you up.
As Luke walked down the streets of his home city, his Quirk alerted him to a disturbance in the air. He quickly took off his headphones and looked around at his surroundings. Off the side of the path he was walking, he could hear what sounded like sobbing. That immediately got his attention and he headed towards the sound. He moved past several abandoned buildings until he came upon an alley where the sound got louder. Luke hugged the wall of the outside building and quietly peered into the alleyway where he came upon a sickening sight. Three large men, one with a mohawk, one with what looked like bat ears, and another with piercings and dreadlocks were all ganging up on a young girl dressed in what looked like a Catholic school girl outfit which Luke recognized as one of the local Catholic school's uniforms. The men all had sick grins on their faces as they pounced on the young girl and began to strip her of her clothes.
Luke had had enough of the sight. He put his hood on over his head and walked into the alley. He spotted a discarded beer bottle off to the side of a nearby trash can and picked it up, Luke reared his arm back and aimed at the bat ears before throwing the bottle at him. The glass bottle broke up hitting bat ears' head causing him to stumble back in pain.
"Fuck! Who threw that?!" he shouted angrily before he turned in Luke's direction. That was when Luke got a better look at clothes all three men were wearing. Black, red, and purple with the image of two reaper scythes side by side.
"Reapers." Luke said quietly with hatred in his voice. Reapers were a local Ashland street gang that basically did every kind of crime they could get into. The higher up members were responsible for prostitution, gambling, gun-running, murder, and other heinous crimes while lower street members like the three in front of Luke just caused whatever carnage and chaos they could. Spreading fear to anyone they could. Reapers made Luke sick, he had run into them several times and had beaten them down each time getting him a rather vicious reputation among the gang and any other troublemakers in his neighborhood.
Dreads let go of the girl and pinned Luke with a savage glare, "Oh boy, you just made the biggest mistake of your life!" he said as his dreadlocks seemed to extend until they hit the ground. Dreads then whipped his head around and his hair extended towards Luke like a vicious snake. Luke simply smirked at the sight and weaved around the hair strike and advanced towards Dreads, once he was in range Luke spun on his heels and landed a vicious upward heel kick to Dreads' chin stunning him which allowed Luke to follow up with an elbow to the ribs and a flying knee to the face knocking Dread's out. With their comrade knocked out, the other two Reapers now took a cautious look over at Luke as he stood in front of the young girl in a protective stance.
Luke looked back to the young girl with a kind smile, "Don't worry now. Everything will be okay." He said warmly. For some reason, even though the girl didn't know who Luke was, she felt oddly safe with him around. The other two Reapers got over their initial caution and rushed at Luke. The piercings guy got closer to Luke than his comrade and turned his entire right arm into metal and tried to throw a punch at Luke but the young man took his right arm and parried the strike until it was away from him and delivered a mean front kick to Piercings' jaw which stunned him allowing Luke to get into his guard and delivered a flurry of punches to his midsection and ended with an upward palm strike. With Piercing knocked out, Luke turned his attention back to Bat Eats who looked like he was about to piss himself, his face was dripping with sweat and his eyes were full of fear. For a moment Luke thought he was going to run away but the Bat Ears rushed at Luke with his fingernails elongated to long blades, the look on his face told Luke he was running on pure adrenaline and wasn't thinking properly. Luke pivoted on his foot and wrapped his arm around Bat Ears' bladed arm and extended it.
A sickening crack echoed out as Luke broke the man's arm, Bat Ears dropped to his knees and screamed in pain while he cradled his broken arm. Bat Ears looked up at Luke who glared at him with a look of pure disgust.
"I hate Reapers." Luke said as his eyes flashed and became a fiery golden color which made Bat Ears shriek in fear before fainting. Luke cracked his knuckles and released a sigh. In the city they lived in, assaults like this were unfortunately common and with so few pro heroes and the police department stretched so thin, villains and other criminals were able to use the city as their own personal playground. It really made Luke sad, he loved this city and there were good people that lived here. He just wished that there could be something he could do about it.
But for now, there were more important matters. Luke turned back to the young girl the Reapers had cornered, now that there was no more danger, he could get a good look at her. Her skin was slightly pale and was sporting a few bruises on her tanned skin, dressed in a white a black plaid skirt, white blouse, and black blazer over it all but her blazer was now torn in half while her blouse was ripped in several places showing skin. Her blue eyes and brown hair all now looked disheveled with her hair looking wild and her eyes red and puffy. She looked terrified and that was something that Luke could understand given what she had just been though. Luke walked over to the girl and took off his hoodie so he could place it around the girl's shoulders and zipped it up to make her look more modest.
Luke gave the girl a comforting smile, "It's okay, you're safe now. Those men won't be able to hurt you anymore." He said as he offered her a hand. The girl looked at his hand for a moment, almost unsure whether she wanted to take it. But she slowly reached her hand out and placed it in Luke's. He pulled her to her feet, and she landed in his chest, to her he felt so warm, so comforting. The trauma she had just endured had now caught up with her and she broke down and cried into his chest. Luke gently stroked the girl's hair and let her cry her eyes out. She needed this time and Luke would give it to her, even if it meant being late for school. After a few moments, Luke was able to get the girl to feel a bit safer and more called the nearest hero agency. Almost immediately, three different sidekicks arrived and hauled the Reapers away. They were also able to get the girl, who Luke discovered was named Kayla, back to her home where her parents were waiting for her. The sidekicks offered to give Luke a ride to school but he declined, the walks through Ashland were what helped him stay calm. And secretly, he wanted to do a patrol of his own in case anything like this were to happen again.

Unfortunately, Luke was indeed late for school. By almost a half hour which did kind of suck but since he was able to help someone even if it cost him some school time, he thought it was worth it. After getting lectured by his school principal and getting through the first half of classes, Luke was now enjoying lunch with his best friends. The first was a rather tall boy, he stood at around 6'2 and had dark brown hair with crimson eyes. His skin was white but studded around his muscular body in various places were small clusters of obsidian. He was dressed in a pair of jean shorts and a green, sleeveless, zip-up hoodie and sandals. This was Jacob Blaze, one of Luke's best friends since childhood. The reason for the lack of significant clothing was because due to Jacob's Quirk he had a higher than regular body temperature which would sometimes cause his clothes to catch on fire if he got to excited. What he wore now was fireproof.
The other boy was about two inches taller than Jacob with black skin, steel grey almost silver eyes and a buzz cut head of black hair like Luke. He too had a muscular body and was dressed in a black polo shirt with a purple echo symbol on the front, black jeans, brown boots, and black fingerless gloves on his hands. He wore high-tech, silver headphones and a leather cord bracelet around his wrist. What was interesting about his gloves was that they also served as a connection module that was able to interface with any kind of technology. This was Davis Forge, another of Luke's childhood friends.
The other two young men looked a bit odd, but they were still like family to Luke. The first was a boy that was skinny but still had an athletic build with pale skin, thick black hair that was tipped with blood red covered his left eye which was a shining onyx color. He was dressed in a black, zip up hoodie a white shirt with a red skull image on the front along with black jeans that had zippers on the sides of the legs and black, silver tipped boots that buckled on the side. This was Nathan Black, a rather gothic boy that Luke had known for years after Luke helped him with a bit of a bully problem that he had when he first got to Ashland.
The final boy was the shortest out of all of them, but he had a ferocity in his eyes that said he was not to be underestimated. The boy had white skin but running along his entire body were black and crimson tattoos that almost seemed to hum with life. The boy was around 5'7 with short brown hair, crimson eyes, and a build that was like a lightweight MMA fighter. He also had a few scars that littered his body over his tattoos. He was dressed in a sleeveless black shirt with a black hoodie that had crimson sleeves, slightly baggy grey jeans, and black boots. Around his neck he carried a wooden totem carving of a panther. This was Jason Savage, Luke's friend, and sparring partner. These four were basically family to Luke, they all had shed blood, sweat, and tears together with all the times they had been together.
"So let me get this straight, you were late because you heard a sound coming from an abandoned alley, saw three Reapers ganging up on a girl, beat the shit out of all three of them, gave the girl to the police, made sure she got home to her family, then still came to school." Jacob said.
Luke, who was lying down on top of a nearby table, had his eyes closed and his hands behind his head listened to what his friend was saying, "Yeah, that's pretty much it." He said with a slight annoyance in his voice.
Jacob looked over to Davis, "Any proof of that D?" he asked. Davis' eyes flashed brightly and took on a circuit like look. He put his hands in front of him and his gloves projected a holographic screen. The screen was feeding Davis various information from numerous sources while his brain sorted through everything that was coming his way.
Davis Forge
Quirk: Technopath
Davis can manipulate all technology within his general vicinity as well as the tech that is on his body. The gloves he wears allows him to absorb electronic signals from nearby electrical sources. This makes him the ultimate hacker.
Davis looked through the amount of information that was being sent his way before his eyes settled on a few social media pages that had been uploaded that day, "Yeah, he's telling the truth. The girl he saved has already uploaded her story to her SM accounts and have been getting some serious views. You really made an impression on this girl Luke." He said as he turned his gloves off.
Jason scoffed, "The fact that he said he took down three Reapers should have been evidence enough." He says with a smirk before he leans back against the table, he was at with his arms crossed behind his head.
Nathan nodded, "Good work. Strong. Hero." He grunted out. Nathan always was a man of few words.
Luke groaned out loud before sitting up, "Now don't go starting all that hero talk again guys. I told you guys before, I don't feel like being a hero is the right path for me." He said.
Jacob shrugged, "Bro, the only reason you say that is because you still think you can't live up to your dad's name. Which I personally think is ridiculous, you already are a hero to so many people in this city." He said.
Jason nodded, "Its because of you that the Reapers and most of the other gangs in the city don't come out as much plus you have been helping nearly every single person in this city whenever you have the chance." He said.
Nathan nodded, "Real hero." He grunted.
Luke groaned and laid back again, ignoring the constant hero reminders of his friends. It was true that when Luke was younger, he wanted to be a hero like many his age but growing up surrounded by amazing heroes like his father and his older brother and even his mother, who was Quirkless, made him think that he had too big of shoes to fill. Like maybe people would be too focused on what his family did and not what he could do. But is that how he wanted to live his life? Would he be okay with just living in his family's shadow? Or would he be able to forge his own path in life?

The school day ended, and Luke began his normal walk home. He could have caught the train home like most of his friends did but walking through the streets of his home always made him feel at peace. While it was true that Ashland had its bad eggs, Luke still loved the city. This was his home and he loved it, no matter what. Luke had grown up hearing tales of how Deku and his fellow heroes saved Japan from the horrors of a villain called All for One and the League of Villains, to him they were true heroes. The fought to protect people plain and simple, to Luke that was what a real hero was; someone who did not care about fame or fortune but just wanted to be the kind of hero that protected people when they needed it. The fame and money that came along with that would be the last thing on his mind.
It has been over twenty years since then and even though Deku and his fellow heroes keep Japan safe, there are still places around the world that lived in fear due to the constant villain attacks that continued to happen. The world needed heroes; Luke knew that. But could he be one of those heroes? Could he ever hope to be someone like Deku, his family, or any of the other heroes in the world?
As he walked through the center of the city, he noticed a large crowd gathered around a hotel building. Being curious, Luke made his way towards the crowd and found out the reason for the crowd. Standing at the head of the crowd were two pro heroes, a man and a woman, where the man stood at about 6'0 and was dressed in a silver body suit with pieces of silver armor that was trimmed with gold. The armor itself covered the male hero's entire body, almost reminiscent of a knight with a silver and gold helmet that covered his head with a black U-shaped visor. From what skin the man showed he had pale white skin and his hair must have been tamed inside the helmet.
The woman wore an outfit that was almost reminiscent of a Roman Centurion. She had silver armor covering her knees all the way to her ankles where white boots covered her feet. A black leather centurion skirt hung from her waist that was studded with silver armor pieces. Her chest armor was white with silver and black trim that accentuated her female figure nicely and curved, shoulder guards that depicted a winged star was placed on them. Elbow length gauntlets adorned her arms along with leather gloves with armor backing. She also had a white and gold mask that covered her eyes that were connected to a winged crown piece that framed her face. Long, platinum blond hair hung down to her shoulders that accentuated her alabaster skin and deep blue eyes.
These two were Silverstar and Valkyrie, a hero duo that were also a married couple. Luke had seen them a few times on the news and he knew that they were a team of heroes who truly desired to protect others and did not care for the fame that came with it. But even heroes like that had to keep up images for the public. Luke understood but he didn't really agree with that, to him, being a hero meant saving people who needed it regardless of whether the hero was seen in public. The obvious exception was Deku and his friends that he fought alongside but with a reputation as the symbol of peace Luke understood why the public image was so important for many heroes. Luke inclined his head to the heroes as he walked by them and continued his way but while the crowd around the heroes grew and their attention preoccupied Luke saw a woman dressed in the clothes of, well if Luke was being blunt, she looked like a hooker. Luke had seen some of the Women of the Night when he would take late night jogs or when he was out with his friends and had even been propositioned by some of them a few times, but he never really paid them any mind. Some people just did what they needed to do.
This woman looked to be in her late 20's with tanned skin, auburn colored hair that was pulled back into a ponytail, and dark brown eyes from what he could see. Dressed in a tight blue halter top with a silver skirt that barely came to her mid-thigh and black zip-up boots that reached her knees. Over her shoulder was a simple clutch bag that she held onto for dear life. The fact that she was dressed like that in the middle of the day made Luke curious but then when she was grabbed and pulled into a nearby alley by three ugly looking dudes that was when Luke got worried. Normally he would take care of this on his own but with two pro heroes nearby Luke decided to have them deal with it. Luke ran over to the crowd of people and muscled his way through.
"Move, move! This is an emergency!" he yelled as he pushed his way through. He made his way to the front of the crowd. When he finally made it the two Pros, Luke desperately tried to get their attention but before he could even speak to them, he was pulled away by two hands. Luke quickly got out of the grip and turned to see who had pulled him away. The person was a young man, possibly around 18 and had the look and presence of an all-American golden boy. He had slightly pale skin with short hair that was platinum blonde with his bangs covering the top half of his forehead. He was in good shape with pure blue eyes and was dressed in a simple grey collard shirt with jeans and a pair of designer shoes.
The older boy gave Luke a stern glare, "Just what do you think you are doing? You can't just cut through everyone like that, even if you do want to get a chance to be next to some amazing pro heroes."
Luke groaned, "That's not why I moved passed, there is a woman in danger, and I was trying to get the heroes attention so they could help her!" he said frantically.
The Golden Boy scoffed, "Oh please, as if I'm going to believe that. If my parents took account of every kind of call that some slum city kid shot their way, well they wouldn't have time to keep up their image which is the most popular thing for a hero." He said crossing his arms.
Luke gaped at the older boy, "Are you fucking kidding me right now?!" he practically shouted.
The older boy just waved Luke off, "Beat it. My parents have better things to do than listen to some bullshit story by some slum city kid." He said walking off. Luke could not believe what he was hearing, he had just been snuffed by the kid of two pro heroes and he wasn't even going to tell them about the woman Luke saw. Luke didn't have any time to deal with the whole situation again, so he left the large group of people and headed towards where the woman had been taken away. He followed the three men and the woman to an abandoned back alley behind the building where the pro heroes were in front of but crouched down so he would be out of sight. From his position he was able to see the thugs grab the woman and throw her against the wall, Luke couldn't tell what this whole issue was about, but he knew it wasn't going to be good. In case anything happened, he activated his Quirks.
Luke closed his eyes and breathed deeply letting his Quirks take over his body, he felt his muscles grow slightly while his sense grew sharper. He felt his canines expand in his mouth and his hair grow thicker, He opened his eyes which were once again a deep golden color. He flexed his new body letting some of the bones crack while he flexed his hands, as he did that the air around him swirled under his command. Now he was ready.
Lukas Storm
Quirk: Wind Wolf
Luke is one if very few people in the world to be blessed with two Quirks. His primary Quirk allows him to manipulate the element of Oxygen letting him move air currents, ride on air, rust small amounts of metal, and even make a few things light on fire. His second Quirk allows him to take on a werewolf-like form that enhances his strength, agility, and senses. Both these Quirks allow him to become a savage warrior to the criminals of his city. And a hero to the people who need one.
Luke crept along the alleyway out of sight and used his now enhanced hearing to listen in on the conversation the four other people were having. The first guy was dressed like a stereotypical mobster from an old school crime movie. Silk pants, fancy shirt, big hat, and long black trench coat. The others were dressed like regular guys bit their mutant Quirks gave them an intimidating appearance. One looking like a Komodo dragon while the other tentacles for arms.
"You really thought that you could steal from us?" Trench coat said. The woman against the wall gave the trio a defiant look.
"I'm surprised that it took you fools this long to figure out. But I am not sorry for what I did." She spat.
"Of course, you aren't," Trench Coat said crouching down to look her in the eye, "You think you are so entitled because you are a single mom but let me tell you something. None of that shit matters because you are just a whore and that will never change." Trench coat stood back up and backed off a bit.
"Okay boys. Teach this bitch a lesson." He said which caused the two grunts to smile. The Komodo cracked his knuckles while Tentacles just adopted a sick grin. Immense fear crossed the woman's face as she knew what was going to happen but there was nothing, she could do to stop it.
Suddenly, footsteps came rushing towards them but before they could turn their heads to figure out what was happening Luke jumped over the three gangsters and landed right in front of the woman in a protective stance. Luke raised his head and gave the trio a toothy smile revealing his sharpened canines before crossing his arms and separating them, knocking the gangsters back with a powerful gust of wind. The gangsters were blown back and got knocked into the opposite wall, letting out pained grunts as their backs hit the stone. Luke rose to his full height and gave the woman behind him a calm look.
"Stay calm and don't worry. I'll take care of this." He said before turning his attention back to the gangsters who began getting back to their feet.
"What the hell?!" Trench Coat shouted as he dusted off his coat.
Luke cracked his neck, "Sorry guys but I'm putting a stop to you right now."
Komodo laughed, "Well lookey here boss, seems like we got ourselves a little hero." He taunted.
Luke smirked before he glared at all three gangsters, "Oh, I'm no hero. I'm just a guy who is sick of people like you making a mess of my city. Thinking you can go around doing whatever you want and hurting the good people who live here. That just pisses me off." He growled out.
Tentacles laughed out loud, "Well as cool as you sound, you won't be able to do anything since today you will die!" he shouted as he stretched out his tentacle and it shot out over at Luke, the tentacle wrapped around Luke's waist and pulled him towards the gangster where Komodo had his claws raised in preparation to strike. Luke leaned back as he flew and once, he was near Tentacles he struck back with a mean headbutt to the tentacled man's nose who let out a shout of pain. Once Luke felt that the tentacles around him were loosened enough, he broke free and landed a double kick to his chest knocking him back into the wall behind him, effectively knocking him out.
Luke landed on his feet and quickly entered a fighting stance with his hands raised, the Komodo looked at his fallen comrade before turning back to Luke with a furious look in his eye.
"Oh, you are so dead kid!" he said as his fingernails grew into claws. He rushed at Luke and started swinging wildly but thanks to Luke's enhanced senses he was able to easily dodge or parry the strikes. Komodo tried a stabbing strike with his claws but Luke pivoted on his foot and grabbed Komodo's wrist. He then landed a forearm strike to Komodo's elbow, breaking his arm sending Komodo into an intense amount of pain. Komodo pulled back and cradled his arm, his face was seating immensely showing just how much pain he was in. Luke swiftly moved into Komodo's range and landed a straight right cross to his thigh, bringing the Komodo Quirk user down to one knee. Luke then followed up with an upper cut to the chin, jab to the solar plexus, a flurry of punches to his chest and head, and ended with a crescent kick to the temple. Knocking Komodo out.
The only one left was trench who tried to catch Luke off guard with a quick punch, but Luke was able to dodge it just in time. Luke looked at Trench and noticed that in the middle of each of his knuckles a cone shaped spike jutted out. Luke enhanced sense of smell told him that there was toxin or venom that was dripping from them.
Luke growled, "Great not only does he have spiked on his knuckles, but they also have a toxin with them. That's annoying." Luke mumbled to himself as Trench threw another punch at him, but Luke decided to end this as soon as he could, so he made a few moves to gain some distance before he moved in. As Trench made another punch with his left arm Luke stepped forward and wrapped his arm around Trenches, Luke extended Trenches arm until it broke making the gangster shout in pain. But Luke didn't stop there, he kicked the back of Trench's knee bringing him down and grabbed the back of his collar pulling him back. Luke landed several downward elbow strikes to the gangster's chest before bringing him back up and striking Trench across the face with another elbow. Luke took the momentum of his elbow strike and spun around before landing a hook kick to the face. The gangster dropped to the ground immediately.
Luke growled slightly before he cracked his neck, letting his wolf Quirk half calm down before he deactivated it. Luke rolled his shoulders as his muscles settled back into their normal form. He then crouched down to check Trench's body for runes. Nearly all the gangs in Ashland used some type of rune or symbol to gloat about who they belonged to. But it wasn't just the gangs, everyone in the city used runes to depict who they were or what was important to them. The wolf symbol on Luke's shirt was his own personal rune.
Luke pulled back the collar of Trench's and noticed a rune depicting a three headed serpent tattooed on his neck.
Luke gave off a grunt of disgust, "Hydra's. Pathetic." He said standing back up. The Hydra gang was one of the more secretive gangs in the city, but Luke had run across a few of their lower ranked members when they would try and pull off small time robberies or assaults. He never really met any of the higher ranked members, but I guess today was that day.
Luke sighed, "Guess I'll hand these three over to the heroes. They can take care of them how they see fit." He said before he walked over to the woman that still on the ground. He gave her a kind smile and held his hand out. The woman took a moment to realize the situation before she took Luke's hand. Luke pulled the woman to her feet where she straightened herself out.
"You, okay?" he asked.
The woman nodded, "Yeah I'm fine, thanks for the help." She said.
Luke shrugged, "No worries, just doing what I can to help," he said as he looked towards the fallen gangsters, "You should probably head on out of here, I'll take care of these guys."
Luke turned towards the trio but was stopped by the woman, "Wait, why did you help me? I'm sure you can tell from the way I'm dressed that I'm a hooker. Why waste your time helping me?" she asked.
Luke sighed, "Look, I'm not going to judge you because of what you do. Sometimes people just do what they must to get by, it's like a common law here in this city. But what I do know is that you are a damn strong woman for stealing from the Hydras so you can support yourself and your family that takes guts and it's because of people like you that I fight for this city and the people that live here." He said as he used his Quirk to round up all the Hydra members and keep them bound so he could deliver them to the heroes.
The woman chuckled lightly, "Wow, imagine that. Me getting advice from someone half my age."
Luke shrugged, "What can I say? Good help can come from the oddest of people," he said before handing the woman a business card, "If you really want to do better with your life then go here. Ask to speak to Yolanda and tell her Storm sent you and say that you need help finding a decent job. She'll help you." He said.
The woman was stunned but took the card anyway, "I don't know what to say."
Luke shook his head, "You don't have to say anything, I'm just glad that I could help." He said. The woman gave a small chuckle, she had been living in this city for most of her life and never had she ever seen or met anyone more heroic than the young man in front of her, the only exception being the number 4 hero Rock Lord who lived in the city, but she could probably say that this young man gave that hero a run for their money. She went over to Luke and gave him a small kiss on the cheek which surprised him.
"I don't know if you plan on becoming a pro or not, but I can say this. In my eyes, you are a hero to me." She said before she left. Luke stood there for a few seconds as her words echoed through Luke's head. She said that he was a hero to her. Could he actually be a hero? Well, whatever the case, he needed to hand the three gang members over to Silverstar and Valkyrie so they could figure out what to do with them. Using his Quirk, Luke lifted the bound gangsters up and moved them over to where the crowd around the hero couple remained. Luke grunted in annoyance at the large group and knew that he needed to get them out of the way to deliver the gangsters.
"MOVE!" Luke shouted at the top of his lungs, scaring some of the people in attendance but getting them to move out of his way. Luke trekked forward till he was in front of the two heroes an dropped the trio of gangsters on the ground in front of them. As he expected, the heroes' son came up to Luke with a very furious look on his face.
"Not you again! I told you we don't have time to entertain some stupid…" His rantings were cut short when Luke decked him across the face and knocked him to the ground.
"Colton!" Luke heard Valkyrie shout before she ran to her son.
"What the hell do you think you are doing?! Why did you hit our son?!" Silverstar shouted at Luke.
Luke took a deep breath before looking at the armored hero, "Silverstar, Valkyrie. I want you both to know that I have great respect for both of you and the work you do. As for why I hit your son, well that's because he's an idiot." Luke said crossing his arms.
Colton shot to his feet and pinned Luke with an angry glare, "Who the hell do you think you are talking to me like that?!" he shouted.
Luke pinned him with a glare, "I'm the guy who actually listens when people say that there is trouble happening. Unlike you."
Valkyrie looked at her son, "What is he talking about Colton?" she asked.
Colton shook his head and put on a convincing smile, "Nothing mom don't listen to him."
"I told him that there was a woman who was getting attack in a nearby alley, but he dismissed my warning by saying that he and his parents did not have time to deal with some nonsense by some slum city kid." Luke said. Colton looked like he was about to wet himself by the amount of sweat that was coming from his face.
"D-don't listen to him, he's lying. He's just saying this to get some attention from you guys." He said trying to save face.
"Luke isn't that kind of guy!" a male voice shouted from the audience around them,
"Yeah, Luke just wants to help people! He does it for everyone here in the city." Another female voice shouted. Soon, more and more people began shouting in support of Luke and his actions and each word he heard made him feel great about himself. It was such an incredible feeling to know that the people of his city backed him with their support. Luke made a motion with his hands to get everyone to quiet down before he stepped forward and motioned to the two heroes.
"You can choose to believe me or not, that is your decision but one thing that is not made up is the identity of these men," he said as he pulled down the collar of the trench coat man to reveal the hydra tattoo on his neck, "This is the rune for the Hydra Gang in the city. They are one of the deadliest gangs in the city and my guess is that this man is one of their higher ups. I would ask that you can take these men to the police and have them deal with them." He said.
Colton growled, "Oh please, how can you possibly know that this tattoo relates this man to a gang. That could just be a simple tattoo!"
Luke shook his head, "I know what this is because nearly if not all the people that live in Ashland use some kind of rune to identify themselves or the organization that they belong to. The rune that I wear on my shirt is my own personal rune. If you don't believe me, ask anyone in the city." He said.
Colton fumed at how Luke was getting to him, "Well you know what?! It doesn't matter what you say because what you say doesn't mean shit! Who cares about a few low-level thugs from a place like this, my parents have much bigger things to deal with then your problems." He said as he came up and stood in front of Luke as the two glared at each other.
Luke smirked, "Well, its your choice to believe me or not. Regardless of what you say, I'm still taking these guys to the police." Luke told him before he shoved Colton away from him.
"And I'm only going to tell you this one time. When you are in my city, you will show its people respect or else you have to deal with me." He said with his eyes flashing the fiery golden color of his wolf form. Colton had a shock of fear go through him at the serious threat Luke had just given him. He could tell just from the way he said it, that he meant what he said.
"Okay that is enough." Silverstar interrupted. He pulled his son back and walked over to Luke.
"Young man, I don't know what kind of issues you and my son have but its apparent that its incredibly serious. My wife and I will have a talk with him, and we will take care of the men that you have brought us." He said.
"What, dad! Come on, you can't actually believe what this kid is saying" Colton said trying to get his father to his side.
Silverstar gave his son a harsh look, "Colton, that is enough! Regardless of whether this young man is telling the truth or not, we have a duty as heroes to take all information that could possibly lead to any kind of crime. That is what we do." He said causing his son to shrink.
Luke chuckled but held his hand out to the hero, "I appreciate your diligence sir." He said as Silverstar shook his hand. Luke gave Colton more look telling him he was on his shit list before he left giving a few thanks and greetings to some of the people in the crowd that he knew before he headed home.
MHA
As Luke headed home, the last few rays of sunlight began to sink below letting the Ashland sky become bathed in beautiful sunset. Luke arrived at his home, a simple single story home with a basement that was transformed into Luke's personal training area once he began training in martial arts. Luke walked up to his home and opened it up, finding the interior void of any life save for the family cat Mystic. A fluffy white and grey Manx Cat that usually just lounged about anywhere he found comfortable, but the family still loved him anyway. Luke gave the cat a pet who purred at the affection he gave him before taking his shoes off at the front door. He could tell that his mother wasn't home yet but that wasn't uncommon due to her working at a hospital and getting off late most nights.
Luke's eyes were drawn to the large picture that was on the wall across from the front door. It depicted Luke when he was about 10 years old with his mother and older brother. His mother was a lovely woman with porcelain covered skin, long black hair that reached her shoulders, and blue green eyes. Luke's older brother Aidan closely resembled their mother, but his skin was slightly paler than hers and his eyes had a silvery sheen to them. He was also incredibly muscular, due to him working several kinds of manual labor jobs while he was in school and all his hero training made Luke's brother a rather badass man. Luke smiled at the image, along with his father Luke's brother was one of the few people in the world that Luke recognized as a true hero along with a handful of others that were on the Hero Billboards. He was also one of the people who first taught Luke martial arts and how to control his Quirk when it first manifested. And then there was Luke's mother Gina. She was one incredible woman; she fell in love with two different heroes which resulted in both Luke and Adam.
Luke never knew Aidan's father but from what his mother told him he was a hero who lost his life defending a group of innocent people from a villain attack. The same as Luke's father. The most interesting thing about Gina was the fact that she was Quirkless. She didn't have a Quirk which often made her the victim of bullying during her youth but those struggles in her life made her one of the strongest women that Luke had ever met. And the fact that she raised both him and his brother made her even stronger. Aidan inherited his Quirk from his dad which allowed him to manipulate Silicon. An offshoot of his dad's Quirk that let him shape stone. Luke's Quirk was a bit of a mutation. His father's Quirk let him manipulate wind currents which led to Luke's Quirk allowing him manipulate Oxygen. The wolf part of his Quirk was something of a rarity. That part came from his grandfather. Luke's grandfather Marcus had a Quirk that allowed him to transform into an enormous wolf which gave him enhanced senses, strength, speed, and incredible hunting abilities. The actual mechanics of how Luke got the wolf part of his Quirk was still a little confusing but from what he knew, it was apparently due to a dormant gene in Luke's DNA that skipped his mother's generation and went to Luke.
Not that he was complaining but it was still a little weird that he had to grow up with two Quirks, but he had grown accustomed to it over the years. Now that he was home, Luke knew that it would still be a good while until his mother would get home so he decided to get the place ready for when she would get here. So, he cleaned the living room up a bit, fed Mystic, took care of whatever homework that he had to do, and began to make dinner. Luke had always had a passion for food and had considered going into the culinary field for when he got older but recent developments had had him considering other paths for his future. Possibly down the path of a hero. Luke decided to make a simple chicken stir-fry with lo-mein, various types of vegetables, and some marinaded chicken thighs. The meal was delicious, and Luke decided to eat his portion alone so his mother would have enough for her.
After eating, Luke rested for a few minutes by doing some light reading while listening to music. After about an hour, Luke decided to head down to his basement to get a small workout in. After walking down a set of stairs, he opened up a wooden door that led to a large room that was set up to be Luke's own personal workout room. The room consisted of a large, matted floor, several types of dummies that served to help Luke with both his hand to hand combat and his Quirk usage along with various types of weights, a treadmill, and a few different miniature obstacles that were littered around the ground to be used for agility training. The only out of place thing that was in the training room was the small open wardrobe that was decorated with various news-clippings, memorabilia, and several pictures that depicted a smiling, African-American Hero saving people and assisting some of the local people that Luke knew as some of the older residents of the city.
The major focus point of the wardrobe was a half-scorched dark green and blue body suit with a black domino mask, both standing on a plain mannequin. Luke walked over to the wardrobe and sat down on the bench that was in front of it. He gave a hefty sigh as he looked upon the contents of the wardrobe with a small smile.
"Hey dad." He said. The wardrobe and all its contents were all that remained of Luke's father. Luke's father was a man named Markus Storm or to the people of Ashland, Hurricane. He was a pro hero who lost his life protecting a group of innocent civilians from a massive villain attack when Luke was 4. He never really had a real chance to get to know his father before he died but he did have a few memories of his father holding him and telling him stories about the life he had both before and after he became a hero but most of those memories were hazy at best. Hazy to the point where he could barely remember them but despite that, Luke still loved his father dearly. He always knew that he wanted to be a strong man like his father, he loved Ashland and all the good people that lived here, and his father was one of the greatest men that he ever knew. But now, he wished his father were here to help him with the current crisis that he was going through.
"Man pops, I really wish you were. I could use some help with a current…situation that I'm having. Did you feel this way when you wanted to become a hero?" Luke said aloud knowing he wasn't going to get an answer but being here talking to the remains of his hero costume gave Luke a sense of peace. Luke gave a sigh before he stood up, he gave the wardrobe one last smile before he moved over to the open space on the padded floor. He took off his shirt and vest leaving his top bare and took off his shoes and socks as well. Luke gave a few deep breathes and some stretches, this was the start of a nightly ritual Luke did and a way to blow off steam from a long day. His mother told him that like Luke, his father Markus, was a bit of a Japanophile as well. Loving all manner of things related to the country. And not just Japan but other Asian countries as well, leading him to learn several types of Asian martial arts while he trained to become a hero. All that training and knowledge led Markus to create his own style of martial arts he called Tenro-ryu or Heavenly wolf style. He wrote down all the various techniques and exercises that made the martial art incredibly powerful and dangerous in a special journal that he had which was passed onto Luke when his father died. Luke began studying the style when he was very young and even started learning from several other masters that lived in the city, even finding ways to incorporate his Quirk with the style. This turned Luke into an incredible fighter that made a lot of the low level criminals in Ashland fear him and his name.
Luke began his kata or form by bouncing on the pads of his and throwing a few quick jabs, crosses, hooks, and several kicks moving back and forth to keep himself moving. From there he moved into different types of Chinese martial arts forms while combing them with a few Muay Thai moves combing the entire style into a form that was unique to Luke and his father. This method continued for a long time, long enough for Mystic to get bored enough to come down to the gym and lay down in a corner giving Luke some company that brought a smile to his face.
While Luke was downstairs, he didn't seem to notice that his mother entered the house. Gina gave a long sigh as she entered her home and kicked off her shoes, while she loved her job working at the hospital it did take a lot out of her so coming home to a clean house. And lucky for her, there was also a plate full of chicken stir-fry waiting for her.
"God, I do love my son." She said with a smile. She poured herself a glass of wine and sat down to enjoy the dish her son made. Gina was lucky to have a son like Luke even if he was the type to act first and think later sometimes, he was still a good boy. He was kind, strong, loyal, and he loved his city. So much so that he reminded her of Markus more and more each day. As Gina finished up eating, she began to hear what sounded like wind moving and loud fighting noises coming from downstairs. Gina smiled as she knew her youngest was doing a late night workout which was something she had gotten used to him doing. She finished off her wine and headed down the stairs to check up on her youngest. When she got near the door she opened and was rendered speechless at what she saw. Luke was in the middle of doing a type of form that Gina would never forget, since her husband was the one who created it. Each movement Luke did was enhanced by him doing a type of strike that was amplified by his oxygen Quirk making it quite the sight to see.
Luke gave off a loud yell before punching the air with a blast of oxygen, after the air around him settled Luke gave off a toothy grin that was an exact copy of his father's. The sight brought a tear to Gina's eye as she closed the door quietly and leaned against the nearby wall.
"Oh Markus, I wish you could see him now. You would be so proud." She said as she wiped her eyes. Her eldest had already done such great work as a hero for the city and she knows that no matter what path her youngest would take he would be incredible.
MHA
The next day was Saturday so Luke decided to take the day for himself by enjoying an incredible lunch at one of his favorite restaurants in the entire city, The Pork Pit. This was the place to go to if you want to get incredible barbecue in Ashland. Luke had been coming here his entire life and had become good friends with the owners and their son. Luke was enjoying a pulled pork sandwich, well two, with a side of steak fries, some smoked corn, and a large cola. He was also reading up on some news about some of the other heroes in America. Along with his older brother who was the number 4 hero, Luke followed several other heroes in America and overseas. One of his favorites was the number 5 hero Fearless, the only Quirkless hero to ever crack the top ten. Luke respected Fearless immensely, the fact that he never gave up on becoming a hero despite not having a Quirk was something Luke admired especially since Luke knew what it was like to be Quirkless.
Luke was a late bloomer; his Quirk didn't manifest until he was 12 years old so most of his life, he was Quirkless which meant he was an easy target for a lot of the local bullies in his neighborhood. He went through a lot of beatdowns and had the scars to prove it. He didn't want to be the neighborhood punching bag his whole life so he decided to do something about it. He tried numerous types of martial arts to defend himself but nothing really worked until one day he found a group of martial artist who had come from overseas to start a new life for themselves. They became interested in Luke due to the fact that he had a very bright outlook on life despite being Quirkless so they decided to train him in their martial arts. Given that this was before Luke found his father's combat journal, he trained very hard and showed immense dedication to becoming a skilled fighter. This led to Luke becoming known as one of the deadliest fighters in all of Ashland and when his Quirks manifested, he became even more feared.
But Luke never used his skills to be a bully. He would never become something like that and dishonor his family name. As Luke was reading, he found himself face to face with a large, delicious looking milkshake topped with whipped cream, graham cracker crumbs, and caramel sauce. The one who placed it front of him was a young boy around seven with short brown hair and bright violet colored eyes and slightly tanned skin. He was dressed in a short sleeve grey shirt and khaki pants and black sneakers. He had an enormous smile on his face as he presented Luke with the shake like had just completed a really hard task. Along with the young boy was an older man in his late thirties but was built like a brick wall. He had tanned skin with short black hair and violet eyes like the young man, he was dressed in black jeans with a long sleeved violet shirt and a black apron over it all. There was also an older woman with older man and the boy, she was quite a lovely woman with ivory skin and long brown hair with deep grey eyes. She was dressed in a grey tank top with a long sleeved black shirt over it with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows along with a pair of black jeans with matching heeled boots.
The young man was Tristan Greyson who was with his father Owen and his mother Genevieve but who everyone called Gen. The mother and father were the owners of the Pork Pit while Owen did a side job of doing some metalwork and repairs.
Luke smiled at the family and pocketed his phone before looking at the shake, "Well this looks delicious. What's the reason for this delicious looking treat?" he asked.
Owen smiled and patted his son's head, "Tristan here wanted to show you the new shake that he had come up with." Owen said proudly.
Tristan nodded his head rapidly, "Yeah, yeah I came up with the idea when I saw you make that really yummy cheesecake the other week. So I made it into a milkshake version with vanilla ice cream, cheesecake pieces, graham cracker crumbs, and that really cool sauce I tasted on your cake that I can't pronounce." He said with a large smile.
Luke chuckled and leaned forward, "Its pronounced dulce de leche little dude but I appreciate the honesty." He said before he took the milkshake in his hand and took a sip. His mouth was soon flooded with the sweet flavor of the ice cream, the richness of the cheesecake flavor, the slight saltiness of the dulce, and finally the welcoming crunch of the graham cracker pieces. All in all, the shake was very delicious.
Tristan looked at Luke with an expectant look on his face, but Luke set the boy at ease with a large smile, "Sweet Christmas Tristan, this is delicious," Tristan smiled and jumped in joy making Luke and his parents smile, "I guess we can say for certain that the Pork Pit is in very good hands." Luke said as he fist bumped with Tristan making Gen and Owen laugh. It was people like this that made Luke happy he grew up in Ashland. There were good people here and Luke wanted to be sure that no matter what path he took in life, the people like Gen and her family would be safe. The family and Luke talked about nothing much when all sudden, the bustling chatter of the restaurant soon went dead silent. Luke looked around to find the source and discovered Silverstar and Valkyrie walking through the doors, Owen and Gen quickly moved back and pulled Tristan with them while the young boy just looked up at the two heroes with a starstruck look on his face. He always did love heroes.
Luke stood up and faced the heroes as they walked over to him, "Silverstar, Valkyrie, what a pleasant surprise." He said.
Silverstar inclined his head to Luke, "Hello young man, Apologies to bother you like this but we have come to apologize on behalf of our son." He said with Valkyrie nodding along with him. Luke was surprised. He did not expect the hero couple to actually seek him out just to apologize because of their son's actions.
Luke motioned for them to sit while he did the same, "I have to say that I am surprised that you would come and look for me but I have to say it is no problem at all. I have dealt with people who's attitudes were way worse than your son's and I am certain I will meet even worse in the future." He said.
Valkyrie sighed, "We appreciate that. Honestly, we did not expect Colton to act in such a way. I mean, ignoring a possible dangerous situation from a citizen? That is not how we raised him." She said sadly.
Luke gave her a reassuring smile, "Please, don't trouble yourself so much ma'am. While I am not to happy that he ignored me which could have led to an innocent woman getting hurt, at the end of the day the woman was safe and three more dangerous criminals are off the streets. That's all that matter to me." He said.
Silverstar nodded and gave a small chuckle, "You have a good head on your shoulders young man. There are times when I wish Colton would recognize the fact that being a hero isn't a way to just become popular. It's a very serious business that comes with troubles and dangers every single day."
Luke nodded, "I agree sir. My father lost his life being a hero and my older brother currently is one, I have seen so much chaos and destruction caused by villains while good people pay the price. My father fought to protect the innocent people of this city while my brother continues to do that. I hate seeing innocent people suffer because some crazy person wanted to get rich quick or just wanted to break something. In my eyes, a real hero fights to protect. Everything that comes along with that shouldn't be the main reason a hero fight." Luke said with a fiery determination in his eyes. The words that Luke spoke rang throughout the restaurant making everyone around him speechless.
Silverstar nodded along with what Luke said, "You have a good head on your shoulders young man. If the day ever comes when you wish to learn the ways of being a hero, the door to our agency is always open." He said smiling with Valkyrie nodding along with him. Luke was stunned, he didn't even know if he wanted to become a hero but here in his hometown were two pro heroes extending an offer to him so he could learn the ropes.
Luke smiled, "Thank you sir." He said before he saw out of the corner of his eye Tristan holding a pen and paper. Luke knew how much the young boy loved heroes and seeing two in front of him was just to good a chance to pass up.
Luke chuckled and grabbed a blank napkin and an extra pen he happened to have on him, "Sorry to bother you but would you mind?" he said presenting the napkin to the heroes. They both smiled before taking it and signing their names on it.
Luke smiled before taking back the napkin, "Thank you." He said before he got up and went over to Tristan and handed him the napkin. The young boy practically squealed in joy at the autograph he got before he thanked Luke repeatedly. Luke smiled and laughed at the joy the young boy showed and it got him thinking. If a simple autograph could make a young boy this happy, what else could he do to make the people in the city happy?
"I don't believe this!" a loud voice shouted. Everyone in the restaurant turned their attention to the voice and saw that it belonged to the hero couple's son Colton standing at the front of the restaurant with a pissed off look on his face.
"Mom, Dad, how can you even speak to that guy after he humiliated me?!" Colton shouted at his parents.
Silverstar went up to his son, "Colton, calm down. And if you must know, we came here to apologize for your actions." He said crossing his arms.
Colton gaped, "What?! My actions?! That son of a bitch hit me for no reason!" he said pointing at Luke.
Silverstar crossed his arms, "For your information, if you had listened to what he had to say then you probably wouldn't have gotten hit in the first place. You ignored a plea for help that was a serious threat. Your actions could have led to someone's death. Don't you understand how serious this is?" he scolded his son.
Colton rolled his eyes, "Oh come on dad. How was I supposed to know he was telling the truth? The office gets notifications like that every day. He could have been lying."
Valkyrie then joined in, "You're right he could have but its our responsibility as heroes to investigate and answer every kind of call that we get whether it is real or not."
Colton groaned, "I don't get what the big deal is. The gang members were captured, and the woman was safe. Not to mention you guys got some major publicity and isn't a hero's image the most important part?" he said.
Now Luke was getting angry, and he stepped past both heroes to glare at Colton in the eye, "Image is just a side bonus of being a hero. A hero's real duty is to protect the people, not stand around like some celebrity getting their picture taken. A real hero wouldn't have ignored a call for help, even if it were from some slum city kid." He said crossing his arms.
Colton got right up in Luke's face, "And what the hell do you know about the hero life? You are just some punk who thinks with his fists and is the son some dead guy." He taunted making Luke and everyone around him go ramrod stiff.
Colton grinned, "Oh yeah, I know all about you Lukas Storm. You're the son of a Quirkless doctor and a dead hero. Now that is one hell of a combination. Your mother can barely do anything on her own and your dad is dead. You have no right to speak to me about what it means to be a hero when you don't know anything about the lifestyle." He said smugly. Luke was fuming. He knew that Colton was trying to get arise out of him by insulting his family so Luke did his best to keep his cool, but it was hard. He did not like it when people insulted the ones he cared about.
Luke gave a grunt and shoved Colton away from him, "You got a lot of balls speaking about my family that way. Especially in this city, where everyone knows who they are, and everyone knows one thing. You do not insult the name of the fallen hero Hurricane or the woman he married," Luke said with a smirk as he backed off, "Because my father has done more for this city than you ever will. And, you are wrong about one thing. I do about the hero lifestyle because I see it everyday when my brother calls me up to help him and his sidekicks when they are battered and bruised. They and your parents are real heroes, while you; with that attitude will not be." He said before he turned around and walked away from Colton. The blonde haired boy was fuming, Luke had humiliated him in front of his parents and had called him out in front of everyone. There was no way he was going to let this kid go without teaching him a lesson.
Colton growled before his arms and hands began to glow with bright yellow light, upon seeing this his father's eyes widened behind his visor, "Colton don't!" he pleaded but it was toon late as Colton unleashed a blast of yellow energy at Luke who, felt the hairs on the back of his neck raise, quickly turned around and projected a dome of compressed oxygen around his body to protect him at the last moment. The blast collided with Luke's shield which held on for a few moments, but Luke was soon blasted into a nearby wall and out of the restaurant into the street, landing on his back.
Luke quickly got back to his feet but groaned out loud as the impact from the blast left him with his arms feeling like they got blasted by a shotgun. He looked down and saw that the sleeves of his shirt were burned off and black scorch marks decorated his arms.
Luke growled and activated his wolf Quirk to accelerate his healing process, "Great, solar energy absorption and redistribution. Just like his mom. This is going to be great." He said getting back to his feet. He looked over to see the gaping hole that was now in the Pork Pit's wall to see Silverstar and Valkyrie trying to hold their son back from attacking but he blasted them away with an outburst of energy, knocking them unconscious.
Luke glared at the older boy, "Are you insane?! You could have killed someone with a Quirk like that! Not to mention you knocked out your parents! What the hell is wrong with you?!" Luke shouted.
"Shut up! This doesn't concern anyone but you and me! I am going to show you what happens to people who mess with me!" he shouted before he launched another blast of energy at Luke.
"Shit!" Luke activated his wind Quirk and launched a blast of air out to the side which propelled him out of the blast's way. Colton didn't let up and began launching blast after blast at Luke who acted quickly and summoned several small gusts of wind around his feet and used them propel himself along the surface of the ground. This was one of his favorite methods to use his Quirk, by using the air around his feet he could propel himself at speeds that made him incredibly quick and mobile. Luke used his Air Jets to move along the ground and avoid the blasts that were coming at him. He zig-zagged around the blasts but he could tell that each blast that came near him were incredibly strong and very hot as he could feel the heat coming off from the attacks.
Colton growled loudly, "Would you hold still?!" he shouted as he launched an enormous solar blast at Luke that knocked him off his feet sending him spiraling onto the ground once more. Luke groaned again, he was getting really tired of this.
Luke got back to his feet and glared at Colton, "What is the point of all this?! You think that doing any of this proves that you're a hero?! You are only proving my point that you don't have what it takes to be a hero!" he said rolling his shoulders, feeling his accelerated healing help repair his body.
Colton growled as he stomped towards Luke, "Shut up! You don't know anything! You are just some punk from some bullshit city that no one cares about! You think you are better than me?! Well I'm going to show you and everyone else in the lousy city just how much of a better hero I am!" he said as he blasted Luke with a stronger solar blast. Luke took a deep breath in let his wolf Quirk fully take over his body, enhancing his normal physical abilities. Once the blast was near him, Luke quickly spun on the balls of his feet and summoned a giant dome of air around him before slamming his fist into the ground.
"Zephyr's Barrier!" Luke shouted as the blast collided with his air barrier sending the solar blast in various directions away from Luke but cracking some of the nearby concrete and buildings.
Once the blast died down Luke dissipated the barrier before standing to his full height, "You ignore an innocent woman in danger, you disrespect the memory of my fallen father, you insult my mother, and put the innocent people of my home in danger," he growled as he bared his fangs and amber eyes at Colton, "And you call yourself a hero? You are nothing of the sort. Recently I started thinking that I wouldn't be a decent hero due to the legacy my family has but now I know for sure about the path I need to take." Luke said before he stomped forward, causing the air around him to whip around his body.
"I…will become a hero! A hero that will protect the city and the people I love, from villains like you!" When Luke referred to Colton as a villain, that was when the blonde boy officially lost it. He roared as his entire body lit up with bright yellow light and he launched himself at Luke with his fists raised to strike him down. Once Colton was in Luke's space, Luke threw his arms and hands down and created a large blast of air that momentarily blinded Colton giving Luke the chance to evade the oncoming attack. Luke evaded and landed a powerful knee to Colton's stomach knocking the wind out of him, Luke then followed up with an upward palm then a tornado kick. Colton was launched backwards onto his back but quickly recovered despite the small trickle of blood that was coming from his mouth. Colton launched another blast of solar energy but Luke's no enhanced sense alerted him to the attack giving him time to evade, Luke the activated his Air Jets once more giving him extra speed which he used to zig-zag around the ground. Colton launched another blast at Luke than hit the ground in front of him, trying to trip him up. Luke saw this coming and altered the course of his Jets and jumped high into the air, he then proceeded to blast Colton with pressurized air blasts that hit the blonde boy's body and knocked him back into a nearby wall.
Colton pealed himself off the wall and saw Luke coming at him with a flying drop kick but he quickly moved out of the way of the kick, making Luke hit the wall. But Luke used the momentum he had and bounced off the wall to change his trajectory. He used the speed he had and moved towards Colton and punched him across the face. Colton was shook from the impact of the punch and fell to the ground while Luke rolled on the ground and back to his feet. He looked back over at Colton who struggled to get back to his feet but managed to pin Luke with a murderous glare.
Luke gave a heavy sigh but didn't deactivate his Quirks, "It's over Colton. You've lost." He said.
Colton growled and got his hands underneath him and was able to pull himself to his knees, "No! This isn't over. I refuse to lose to you. I am the better hero." He said despite the obvious pain he was in.
Luke shook his head, "You're no hero." He said. Luke noticed that some of the other citizens in the city had come out to witness the fight while Silverstar and Valkyrie and awoken from their unconscious state and made their way over to their son.
"Luke is right son. This is not how a hero is supposed to act. This is not the way that we raised you." Silverstar said as he neared his son.
"We will figure out some way to make this up to the citizens of Ashland but you have gone to far by attacking Luke. Its time to let this go." Valkyrie said.
Despite his parents' words, Colton was fuming. He had been outed by Luke and was humiliated again by being taken down by one punch. He didn't even care if he looked good or even if he was going to become recognized and loved by people, the only thing on his mind was putting Luke in the ground.
Colton roared and raised his arms to the sky; his entire body began to glow but not like before. This one was not like the attack he did before, it was more concentrated, and Luke's sense could tell that this was way more powerful.
"Colton no!" his mother shouted but her husband held her back. From the look on their face, they could tell that whatever he was about to do was incredibly dangerous. Colton's body continued to glow as he stood up but when he did blood spat out of his mouth.
"Colton, stop this! Whatever you are planning on doing don't! Your body wont be able to handle it!" Luke shouted as he tried to plead with Colton and stop him from doing something stupid.
Colton's eyes glowed bright gold as he glared at Luke, "Shut up! I am ending you right now," he shouted before focusing the light in his body into his arms, "Solar Nova!" he shouted as he blasted all the energy he had at Luke.
"Shit!" Luke shouted as he formed a wind shield around him but he wasn't fast enough, and the shield wasn't fully complete so he felt both the force of the attack and the immense heat coming from it. Luke roared in pain as he felt the pressure from the attack, but he used all the strength he had in his body to keep his shield up because if he didn't then the buildings around him would crumble and the people would get injured.
Luke slowly turned his head behind him and addressed the people around, "Everyone! Get away from the area! Find someplace where you aren't in this guy's blast range!" he said as he felt his shield begin to wear down. Luke didn't know where Colton was getting this power but he did know that it was going to have to run out eventually, but he didn't know if he could last that long. Luke did his best to keep his barrier up but he was having difficulty getting enough oxygen into his body. That was the sucky thing about his Quirk, if he didn't have a steady steam of oxygen flowing into his body, then his Quirk wouldn't be as powerful and could eventually lead him to getting dizzy and eventually pass out. Luke began to feel lightheaded as the blast seemed to get stronger, he looked up and saw that Colton was slowly walking towards him making the blast all that stronger. Luke saw Colton's parents try to get near to him to stop his attack but the amount of solar energy that was seeping off of him prevented them from getting close.
"You see?! Huh, do you see now?! You are nothing compared to me! I am the better hero! And I am the better man!" Colton cackled as he neared Luke. Luke's shield whittled down to where it was just barely covering him but luckily Colton seemed so focused on Luke that he didn't bother attacking any of the other citizens around him.
"Looks like you're going to die just like your dad." Colton sneered at Luke. At that moment, something in Luke snapped. Not the kind of snapping that would send him into a blind rage but the kind that gave him a weird sense of clarity. Somewhere in the depths of his mind he heard masculine words that he recognized as his fathers. While Luke did not have many memories of his father, apparently there were memories and words that his father had left him buried in the recesses of his mind.
'Remember to breathe, my little pup. The Quirk that I have and the one you may one day works with our breathing. If you can keep your breathing under control, the wind will always be on your side.'
Those words resonated with Luke and made him smile, "Jeez pops, even though you are gone from this world you still find some way to help me through tough times." He said before taking in a deep breath and got his breathing under control with a few quick breaths. Once he had gotten enough oxygen back into his body, Luke put some more effort into his shield and made it grow.
"What?!" Colton said shocked. Luke pushed back with all the strength he could muster and began deflecting the solar blasts away from his body. He then did something sneaky, once he made eye contact with Colton, Luke sucked in a bit more air shot a pressurized breath of air at Colton effectively blinding him. Colton shouted out in surprise from the sudden attack and cancelled out his Solar Nova attack so he could rub his eyes. Luke used that momentary distraction and dropped his shield, he rushed at Colton who had finally cleared his eyes and landed several strong strikes to Colton's body with the final strike being a strong straight punch to his solar plexus with the power strengthened by his Air Quirk. Colton had the air knocked out of him as he flew back and onto his back. Luke used the distance that he had to take several deep breathes to get more oxygen back into his lungs.
Colton spat out some bile that rose to his throat before he stood back up, he planned on attacking again but his Solar Nova attack had taken so much out of him that he could barely move but he could see that Luke was getting into a fighting stance with his fangs bared. He knew that he needed to do something, but he wasn't sure about what he could do now that he had exhausted his Quirk so much.
"You keep saying that you are going to be the better hero but let me tell you what a real hero does." Luke said as he propelled himself forward and landed a powerful cross to Colton's face.
"A real hero fights to protect the innocent people around him!" Luke said as he struck Colton with several strikes to his body with the added force of an air attack.
"A real hero doesn't care about fame or fortune!" Luke struck Colton across the face with a three punch combo and followed up with a spinning heel kick.
"A real hero will always find a way to win!" he said with one more strike.
"And as a hero of Ashland that is exactly what I will do," Luke said as he circled Colton, "Because nothing is difficult but everything's a challenge! I will ride adversity through the stars! Until the last minute, until my last breath, until my last heartbeat, I will fight!" Luke shouted, words he never thought he knew echoed throughout his head and he knew that he needed to say them. Luke backflipped and landed in a crouch as he glared at Colton. Luke willed the air around him to form over his body. Luke then used the air to propel him into the air and towards Colton, once he was in front of him Luke jumped over Colton and land on his feet behind him.
Luke spun on one of his feet and used the air to surround his right leg that he used to strike Colton with a spinning roundhouse kick, "Tenro-ryu, first fang: Blast Howl!" Luke shouted and struck out with his leg. When his leg connected with Colton, Luke released the air that was surrounding his leg and added it to the force of his kick. Colton was sent flying away from Luke and landed onto his back on the street, now officially immobilized. His parents went over to check up on their son while Luke stood to his full height before he released a loud howl that echoed throughout the partially empty streets. As he howled, Luke's Quirk's finally gave out on him and all the exhaustion that he had felt during the fight finally hit him. As the tiredness of the entire ordeal finally washed over his body and he lost most of the feeling in his body, soon enough he was unable to keep standing and began to fall backwards. Luke's vision soon started to cloud as his consciousness began to fade as he welcomed the oncoming sleep that would come to him. As he prepared to hit the cold asphalt, he was surprised when instead of the stone street he thought he expected to feel on his back he instead was caught by a pair of muscled arms.
Despite the oncoming blackness that was coming over him, Luke slowly opened his eyes and was greeted by the face of an older looking man with a thick brown beard and bright silver eyes. His face was covered by a stylized dark green domino mask. Luke smiled at the sight of the man, knowing full well who it was that caught him.
The man smiled, "Sorry for being late little bro." he said in calm voice.
Luke chuckled despite the pain in his midsection, "You really need to work on your speed bro." he said as the older man lifted him up and swung Luke's arm over his shoulder to keep him propped up. The man was Aidan Stone, Luke's older brother and the current number 4 hero in America. The Raging Mountain Hero: Rock Lord. Luke chuckled once more, happy that his big brother had been there to help him even if he did miss all the action. With his brother now assisting him, Luke effectively passed out.

Luke awoke from his sleep to find himself lying on the bed in his room of his home. As he tried to get up, his body was racked with an immense wave of nausea and his head immediately became cloudy. Looking over to the nightstand by his bed, Luke noticed the large bowl waiting for him. Thank God his mother knew him well, he grabbed the bowl and emptied the contents of his stomach into it. Another downside of overusing his Quirk was the nausea, too much use of his Quirk at one time and this happens. Sucked really but nothing that wasn't too terrible.
Luke finished his business and grabbed the glass of water and towel that was also on his nightstand. God, his mother was awesome. After he drank and cleaned his mouth, Luke lied down in bed once again as he recapped the events that led him to where he was now. He broke the rule of public Quirk usage but hopefully the police and local government wouldn't give him to much grief about it since he stopped a crazy, power hungry teenager from blowing up his city. Luke sighed as he saw the door to his room open up to see his mother walk in.
She gave him a smirk and shook her head, "You certainly have a way of getting into trouble bubby." She said.
Luke slowly sat up, "Well considering the situation that I got into, I'd say I did fairly well with the trouble I got into." He said.
Gina sat on the edge of Luke's bed, "You are everywhere bubby. The fight you had is all over the city and I have had to stop over a dozen different reporters from breaking down the door to the house."
"Sorry about that mom but you know as well as I do that, I couldn't exactly let that dude keep going on like he did."
Gina giggled, "Oh I know bubby. You are so much like your dad that there are times when I feel like you're not his son but a clone."
Luke rolled his eyes, "Mom, don't be weird."
Gina stuck her tongue out a Luke before kissing him on the head, "Get some rest bubby. You have had a long day." She said getting Luke to nod. As Gina got up to leave Luke stopped her for a moment.
"Hey mom," he asked as Gina turned around to face him, "Did dad ever call me his little pup?"
Gina's eyes widened in surprise before a wistful smile formed on her lips, "Now that certainly is nostalgic. Yes, he often called you that because of a folktale that his father told him when he was young. He also told it to you when you were just a baby, but he stopped once you started getting older and didn't need a story to get to sleep. I didn't even know you knew about that."
Luke shook his head, "I honestly didn't but when I was fighting that guy earlier, I heard the words little pup and a few others pop into my mind. I didn't know where they came from but if pops told them to me when I was younger maybe they are still locked up inside my head." He said.
Gina smiled, "You always could get deep with your words bubby. In fact I think some of the words and stories your dad told you might be in his journal. I guess you just have to look a little deeper." She said as she closed the door. Luke knew that he needed some more time to rest but if there were words that his father left behind in his journal then he needed to see them. He got up from his bed and went over to a small bookshelf in the corner of his room where he kept most of the books he read and collected. It was a hobby he and his mother shared. On the shelf was an older-looking, leather bound journal with the picture of a tornado on it. Luke smiled as he ran his hands over the cover, he usually just looked at the parts that were about his father's fighting style so he never really paid much attention to what else was in there. Now was as good a time as any. He flipped past the pages he had known about and got to the parts that were more of father's writings. Luke had spent the next hour or so just reading through the journal and discovering more about his father and his own heritage than he ever could have imagined.
Luke closed the journal and let out a sigh, "Unbelievable, I never knew that my dad had done so much for me. Hell, so much for the entire city." He said before he stood up and went over to the window in his room that overlooked the city. The city that he called his home, the city he loved, the city where everyone he cared about lived.
"I can't continue like this. If I don't get the right training the more and more threats could harm the people of Ashland and I will be damned if I don't do anything to help the good people here." Luke said as he looked over to his laptop. Knowing what he had to do.
Luke smiled as he sat down in front of his computer and opened it up and brought up a page that depicted a floating city, "This is where I need to go and luckily for me, there is still time to apply." he said as he pulled up the page for the online application and filled it out and sent it in. No sooner had he done that, he received an email detailing where he would take his entrance exam and how he would know if he got.
"International Hero Academy, here I come."
So, this is first chapter of my newest Academia fanfic that will depict the young men and women of the world who want to become heroes. All my characters will be from around the world giving a different feel to the story itself. Oh, and a thank you to Heroboy005 for allowing me to use characters from his own stories.
Oh, and a shoutout to anyone who can figure out the references I made in this chapter.
