Been trying to write a story with these two for a while welcome to my third idea.
Yo let out a sigh as she sat the final air tank down, she was helping Kanan for the weekend while her parents were away, she was kind of grateful as she was busy and it meant she wasn't thinking about a certain pianist that had been on her mind.
She wasn't certain when it started, but she'd kept having dreams of Riko and being around her made her heartbeat quicker than a ships engine, Yo sighed thinking about yesterday, they had been doing practise and she and Riko and been dancing next to each other, all the time she just wanted to kiss her and when the two's hands had touched, she'd felt her hand light up.
Yo let out a groan at the memory "My heads a mess." she sighed before she went outside to get any more of the tank. Once she exited the building, she saw Mari hugging Kanan her head buried in the diver's chest again.
"Hey Yo, nice to see you," Mari said as she noticed her.
"Hey Mari, to see you too." Yo said quietly "Is this the last one Kanan?"
"It's ok Yo I got it, you stay here and I'll get you that cash your owed." Kanan said as she grabbed the tank.
"Aw, why you give Yo some love and not me." Mari said being melodramatic like she was in a play.
"You behave while I'm gone understood." Kanan said as she picked the tank up.
"Sì." Mari smiled though no one believed she would.
Yo sat down and stared up at the sky 'I wonder what I should do, I can't tell her.' Yo thought to herself, just as she was thinking this, she didn't notice someone sneaking up behind her.
"Ah ha." Mari said, "Oh wow, these seem bigger, Kanan's really got some competition."
"Mari!" Yo said jumping off the chair and getting out the blonde's hands, Yo turned to face her and she could see an evil sly grin on her face that told Yo she was thinking something.
"What was that for?" Yo asked.
"You seemed lost in thought, need some help with something?"
"No, I'm fine."
"Liar, Liar." Mari said in a sing song voice "Come on, I helped when you and Chika were having trouble maybe I could again."
Yo pondered the offer a second before sighing "Ok, I'll tell you, but you need to keep it to yourself and not tell anyone at all."
"I promise." Mari said with a smile not that dissimilar to one she gave Kanan.
'Why do I feel this is a bad idea?' Yo thought "Ok." Yo sighed "Recently I've been having these feelings."
"Ooh, big burning feelings of desire?"
"What led you to that?" Yo said looking away towards the ocean.
Mari grabbed Yo's face so she had to look at her "Because you got that cute lost puppy look you get when someone has a crush on someone." Mari said with smile.
"What, no I don't." Yo replied weakly though one look told her Mari didn't believe her.
"So who are they, do I know them?" Mari asked.
"Erm, yeah."
"Is she cute?"
"Yeah."
"Is she here with us?"
"No."
"Ah, let me guess, eni mini mani mo, I pick Riko."
"How'd you…?" Yo said with a blush.
"Well you said she so it's a girl, I went with our group as your closet to us then most for a safe bet and then you took Me and Kanan out, Dia and Hanamaru seem unlikely, I doubt you'd want to face Dia's wrath for Ruby, this left our two little demons plus Chika, so I had a one in three change so how right am I?"
"Spot on." Yo sighed "Wait when did I admit I liked a girl?"
"I said she on the second question, you said yes."
Yo groaned as she sat down and went back to looking at the sky trying to ignore her slightly warm cheeks.
"So you going to tell her?" Mari asked.
"No." Yo sighed closing her eyes.
"Aw, why?"
"Because I don't think she's interested." Yo replied as her heart sank a little at her words.
"Interested in girls or in you?" Mari said as she leaned on wooden railings next to Yo.
"Both really." Yo replied only to feel Mari chop her on the head.
"What have I told you about assuming." Mari said as she squeezed Yo's cheeks together.
"Well what would you suggest?" Yo said through her squished cheeks.
"Be honest and tell her how you feel."
"Yeah, but…" Yo paused her heart sinking at her mental image of Riko rejecting her or worse saying she never wanted to see her again.
"Don't be so, negative." Mari sighed "You and Kanan were the most popular girl in the school, now Kanan's left you're the top girl, I bet a lot of girls are swooning over you."
"Maybe but that doesn't mean Riko is or likes girls."
"Well if you don't someone else might take her and then how would you feel, all alone and then you find Riko happy with someone else and then you found she did like you and you missed your chance, she's not that far behind you in terms of popularity I'm sure some people are eyeing her." Mari said, "As for her liking girls, well let's say I have gut instinct."
Yo sighed, she didn't want to admit it but she knew Mari was right on this, she would hate to find out she missed a chance with Riko "Ok, but how would I tell her?"
"Well you could try the direct approach, but I think a more subtle way might get you the result you want." Mari smiled "Leave it with me and I'll tell you tonight when I have an idea for you ok?"
"Ok." Yo smiled.
"What are you two talking about?" Kanan asked as she came back with Yo's pay.
"Comparing." Mari smiled though Yo had a sudden feeling something bad was about to happen.
"Comparing?" Kanan asked.
"Yo's been growing," Mari said, grabbing Yo again "She's giving you a real challenge."
"I told you to behave." Kanan sighed as she took Mari's hands off Yo and held them in the air.
"Sorry."
Later that night as she was staring up at the stars Yo's phone went off. "Here's the plan for getting your Riko :)" the text from Mari read.
'Heres hoping this isn't bad.' Yo thought to herself as she began to read the plan.
(Riko POV)
Riko was in her room pondering the composition for the new song for the group when her phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Hey Riko, hope I'm not interrupting."
"No YOU I'm fine, just got a little stuck on composing." Riko smiled, feeling her heart flutter for a moment.
"Oh anything I can do to help?"
"No, its fine it's just temporary, I'll have it sorted soon, so what was it you wanted?"
"Oh, I need to make sure of peoples measurements for the costumes, I haven't taken them in a while and I need to make sure they are still right, any chance you can come by mine tomorrow?"
"Why couldn't you do this at school?"
"We have this week off and I didn't want to be pressed for time."
"Oh, yeah sorry forgot." Riko replied as she quickly checked her diary before replying "Erm, yeah that should be fine, around one o'clock, that ok?"
"Yeah, that's perfect, see you tomorrow then."
"Aye Aye." Riko said with a giggle.
"Hey that's my line!" Yo said over the phone.
"Sorry, could help it, good night Yo."
"Good night Riko."
Riko sighed as she heard the sailor hang up, as Riko was about to put the phone down she looked at the home screen it was a picture of her, Yo and Chika, ever since she'd seen Yo with Tsuki and mistook Yo's cousin for her boyfriend her heart had been filled with a sense of longing.
After Mari had found her looking at the picture of Yo on her phone and the blonde had forced her to talk about the feelings, she'd been having she'd gotten "Aw you're in love with Yo." The blonde had said in response to her description. Since then Yo had been ever flowing into her mind at random points and though Riko had denied it at the time and tried to ignore it, but after a dream where Yo had kissed…
"No, no, no, I can't." Riko said to herself even though her heart had begun to beat like a drum "There is no way she is interested." Riko said to herself as she went back to trying to compose, but the picture of the sailor's smile made Riko's thoughts shut down.
(Riko POV - next day)
Riko took a breath as she stood, in her jeans, t-shirt and hoodie, outside the front door to Yo's house before she knocked on the door.
"Hey Riko, you're a little early." Yo greeted with a smile wearing her t-shirt and shorts along with her glasses.
"It's not a problem, is it?" Riko asked 'Those glasses really suit her; she should wear them more often.'
"No, its fine, I'm kind of alone for the weekend really." Yo said as she let the pianist in.
"Oh, why is that?" Riko asked surprised.
"Oh, dad needs to go out of town for parts for the boat and mums visiting family."
"Why didn't you go with them?"
"I didn't feel like going to be honest and I said I'd help out Kanan out at the shop." Yo explained.
"Oh I see." Riko said as a thought crossed her mind 'I'm alone with Yo?' "So will anyone else be coming?"
"No, just you." Yo smiled "Ruby said she'd do herself and rest of the first years and Chika said she's busy."
"Oh ok." Riko said quietly 'This is almost like a one of those Manga's…No, behave it's just measuring.'
"Riko, you ok?" Yo asked with a concerned look.
"Yeah sorry, mind wondered a bit." Riko replied with a nervous giggle.
"Ok, want a drink or anything?"
"No, thank you, I'm good."
"Shall we go then?" Yo asked gesturing upstairs.
"Yeah sure." Riko said with a smile as she followed the sailor upstairs to her room.
As the pair entered Riko saw Yo's desk with a notebook sitting next on it with some sketch designs inside, opposite the wall to the desk was Yo's bed and wardrobe facing the window.
"Ok, so where do you want me to stand?" Riko asked.
"By the wall next to the desk." Yo said as she picked up her tape measure.
Riko did as she was as asked while Yo turned her book around so it was in easy reach and then stood before Riko "Ok, I'll start with your feet then." Yo said with a smile, to which Riko nodded.
Once the sailor was done with her feet the moved to Riko's legs, first measuring the outside then her inside legs and then her calves and then her thighs. After she took each measurement Yo would write them down in her book.
"You've got very nicely shaped legs Riko." Yo said with a smile.
"Oh do I?" Riko said nervously looking away from Yo as she felt cheeks warm up "Thanks, though I'm not as sporty as you so yours are better." Riko spoke before she immediately backhanded herself for saying that 'Calm down you didn't need to say that.' Riko screamed at herself.
Riko heard Yo giggle nervously before she replied "Thanks." Yo replied before she wrote the numbers down and Riko thought she noticed a blush on the sailor's cheeks 'Of course she is after I say something like that.' Riko said in her head.
Next Yo measured the pianist's hips, then before Yo moved to her stomach the sailor paused before she spoke "Erm Riko, hate to ask this but could you take your hoodie off?"
"Oh sure." Riko said as she tried to not make the sentence mean something it didn't, even if she did want it that way, Riko undid the hoodie and slipped it off, Yo took it and placed it on the back her chair that was at her desk.
Next Yo took her bust measurements, as she did this Riko thought Yo might hear her heart which was beating so loud she was surprised it was bursting out her chest like a cartoon.
Yo then said she needed to measure Riko's neck "Erm why do you need to do this?" Riko asked nervous as Yo got closer to her and feeling her throat dry up.
"I don't want to accidently choke you." Yo said as she put the tape behind her head.
"Ok."
As Yo brought the tape measure around Riko's neck, she came quite close to Riko's face, so close the pianist could ever so slightly feel Yo's breath tickle her lips, Riko lifted her head up to let Yo get a better look at the tape measure when but she did she caught the faint whiffs of sea salt coming from Yo, Riko found her own breathing stopped with Yo so close and she had to fight the growing urge to move forward and kiss the sailor, the thought making her blush even harder.
Yo then turned her head to write the measurement down, accidently squeezing Riko's neck as she did, making the pianist swallow 'I can't keep doing this, maybe I should tell her.' Riko thought as she let out a breath.
"You have a very slender neck Riko." Yo said as she turned back to look at her "No wonder you're so popular."
"Oh thanks, though your more popular than me in the school." Riko said nervously.
"Mari said the same thing yesterday." Yo smiled as she put the tape measure on the desk "Though I'm not sure why I would be."
'You're kidding right Yo.'
"Did you say something Riko?" Yo asked.
'Did I say that out loud?' Riko thought to herself "I was just saying you have a sweet smile." Riko said in a panic.
"Thanks." Yo smiled "Though that can't be all of it."
"Well, you have very pretty eyes." Riko said a little breathless 'Am I really saying all this?' Riko thought to herself.
"Thanks," Yo smiled, then much to Riko's surprise the sailor put her left hand on the wall next to Riko's head, kabedoning her "Though which looks better with or without." Yo said as she went to take them off with her right hand.
"No." Riko said getting a hold of Yo's hand "I like you with them on." Riko smiled.
"Thanks." Yo smiled taking her hand away from the glasses, as Riko realised how soft Yo's hands were "Erm, Riko I need to tell you something, just promise you won't hate me, ok?" Yo said in a nervous whisper.
"I won't hate you." Riko whispered back, not noticing she was still holding onto Yo's hand.
Yo then inched closer to her and the pianist felt her throat dry up as she found it hard to breath, Yo closed in till her nose was brushing her own "Yo…?" Riko whispered only for Yo to lean forward and kiss her making Riko's heart explode with joy.
All to quickly for Riko's liking though Yo pulled away "Erm, Riko…" Yo started but Riko shut Yo up this time by kissing the sailor, as the pair kissed Riko felt Yo interlocking the fingers on the joined hands, Riko got lost in the feelings she was getting from the kiss, she moved her free hand to the back of Yo's head and tried to deepen the kiss, she wanted it to never end but she and Yo had to breath and so had to break apart.
(Yo POV)
"Wow." Yo said with a smile trying to catch her breath as her heartbeat like a propeller in the water.
"Yeah." Riko said just as breathless.
"Erm, Riko?" Yo asked feeling her nervous building again.
"Yeah?"
"Erm, does this mean, you know, you…?" Yo asked only to stop when Riko up covered her mouth as she tried to supress her giggles "Hey, I'm trying to ask you something serious here." Yo pouted.
"Yo," Riko said through giggles "why would I kiss you back if I didn't?"
"Sorry," Yo said dropping her head to look at her feet "You make me really nervous and I say stupid things when I do."
"Hey, look at me." Riko said cupping Yo's chin "Sorry I couldn't help it, let me make it up to you and answer your question properly." Riko said as she captured Yo's lips again 'Oh it should be illegal to have lips this soft.' Yo thought as she moaned into the kiss.
"There does that answer your question?" RIko asked with a smile.
"Yeah." Yo smiled before she brought Riko's hand up to her face before kissing the back of Riko's hand.
"Yo?" Riko asked biting her bottom lip "Could I say over tonight?"
"Yeah, sure, but would you need to let your mum know?"
"I will, but a little later, right now I want to do something else." Riko said blushing as Yo suddenly felt Riko's free hand touch her chest making the sailor tense up.
"Is this, ok?" Riko asked in a whisper.
"Yeah, mind if I do something?" Yo asked as an idea came to her mind, Riko silently shook her head, given permission Yo lifted Riko up, on instinct the pianist wrapped her legs around Yo's waist and the sailor wrapped her arms under Riko's crossed legs.
"Bold you Yo."
"You do that to me to."
"Let's see what else we can do to each now shall we?"
Yo nodded and reached up and kissed Riko again, the next few hours were a rather loud, aggressive and yet tender and sweet wrestling match which never won or lost.
"I'm really glad you mum and dad weren't home, I'm pretty sure half the street heard us." Riko said as she texts her mum to say she was staying over at Yo's tonight.
"Yeah, Riko I know I said this a lot in the last few hours, but I really love you."
"Me too." Riko smiled as she placed her phone draw next to the bed and laying next Yo.
(Kanan POV)
"So mind telling me what you a Yo were talking about yesterday?" Kanan asked Mari as the pair were in her families dive shop closing for the day.
"Oh she just wanted help with asking Riko out." Mari smiled.
"Oh, did it work?"
"Don't know she hasn't told me yet."
"Well I hope it works out for them."
"Me to." Mari smiled before diving forward and hugging the diver her face in her happy place "And as a reward I think a deserve so hugs with my besties."
"I'm going to sue you." Kanan growled.
"But your honour, I have no cash." Mari said with an evil smile.
"Oh really, well in that case Kanan said pushing Mari to the wall her hands pinned above her head "I guess you'll just have to work it off under my service and that means doing what I say understood."
"Yes ma'am."
