Prologue
Marinette stares in shock as Lila smirks triumphantly. She watches in horror as the principal lifts up a necklace from her bag and declares it is Lila's. She looks at her friends. Alya is standing beside Lila looking at Marinette in surprise and disappointment. A glance in Juleka's direction showed the outrage and anger she felt for Lila.
"See I told you she stole it," Lila says
"She didn't steal it," Juleka says softly
"Yeah Marinette would never do that," Rose says
"Besides that necklace is Marinette's," Max said, "her grandpa gave it to her two years ago."
"You all need to leave," the principal said "this is between us now"
"But.." Rose started before being interrupted
"Out now"
Marinette watched in shock as they were escorted out of the room. The principal turned to her with a disappointed angry look.
"I am very disappointed in you Marinette," he said, "I am sorry but theft is a serious issue and we will have to take action. I am sorry Marinette but you are expelled. Your parents will be here soon to take you home. You may leave to go clean out your locker."
Marinette stared at him in shock before going to clean out her locker. She looked at the pictures of her friends hanging in her locker in sadness. She took them all down one by one. She carefully tucked the ones of Kitty Section and her and Luka and Juleka into her bag before throwing out the ones of the friends who didn't stand by her. She cleaned out her locker taking all of her belongings out and tucking the things she wanted to keep into her bag and throwing the rest out. She walked back to the office and waited outside the principal's door.
Her parents showed up a short time later with Officer Raincomprix and some woman she didn't know. Her parents quickly hugged her before walking into the office. After what seemed like forever they finally walked out. Officer Raincomprix held an evidence bag in his hand as he walked out. Her parents were quick to usher her out of the school. They arrived at the bakery and her parents ushered her and the other woman upstairs to the living room.
"Marinette we know you didn't steal anything," Tom said
"We know that you would never do that," Sabine added, "but this is the second time that you have been accused of theft and the school is trying to hold it against you."
"Maman I didn't do anything," Marinette insisted, "It was Lila"
"Marinette we know," Tom said, "Listen, your mother and I want you to meet someone"
"Marinette this is my friend Gina," Sabine said, "she is a lawyer. She just flew in today to visit when we got the call from the school. She has offered to represent you."
"Really?"
"Yes but I think we need to talk after everything is settled," Tom said
"Of course Papa," Marinette said.
"Good then come meet Gina and we'll talk"
"Of course," Marinette said following them.
A few hours later Marinette sat in her room talking to Tikki. She sighed as she realized the kwami was right. "Okay Tikki let's go talk to Master Fu." A few minutes later Marinette landed several blocks away from Master Fu's. She checked to make sure the coast was clear before going into the shop.
"Marinette what brings you by this time of day," he asked
"I have some issues that I think I need your help with," she said. Master Fu nodded before letting her explain. He listened carefully and after she finished sat thinking.
"Marinette it will all be alright" he smiled, "come let's have some tea and discuss the options"
"Thank you Master" she sighed in relief. Several hours later found the two walking into her parents' bakery.
"Maman, Papa," Marinette called out
"Marinette what's going on?" Sabine asked
"I want to introduce you to a friend," Marinette said, "Maman, Papa this is Mister Fu. He is my grandfather from my senior visitor program. He is the one who gave me the necklace that Lila claimed was hers"
"It's nice to meet you please come in" Tom said
"Marinette came over to tell me what was going on. I thought maybe I could help. I have proof the necklace belongs to my family and can easily explain how it came to be in Marinette's possession."
"Really that's great" Gina smiled.
"But first Mister Fu and I need to speak to my parents privately about their suggestion," Marinette said.
"Of course dear, let's go to your room," Sabine said. Marinette nodded and led the way.
"There is something Marinette needs to talk to you about"
"It might be better if I just show them," Marinette said softly. She looked to Master Fu who nodded his consent.
"What Marinette has to tell you cannot leave this room"
"Of course," Sabine said
"Okay," Marinette said nervously, "Tikki spots on"
"You...you're...holy shit...your ladybug," Tom stuttered in shock
"I told you so," Sabine smirked at her husband
"How long?" Master Fu asked
"Probably about a month after ladybug showed up," Sabine shrugged
"And you are okay with it?" Marinette asked as ladybug
"We will always support you darling," Sabine said
"Tikki Spots off," Marinette said
"You're ladybug?" Tom smiled
"I told you so," Sabine said, smirking at her husband. Marinette looked at them in surprise.
"Miraculous holders recognize other holders," He smiled, "Honey your mother and I used to be miraculous holders. I worked alongside Guardian Maxwell with a kwami named Ginger the orange dog of tracking"
"My kwami was Nola," Sabine smiled, "the black owl of truth,"
"That explains a lot," Master Fu smiled, "your friend waiting downstairs held a miraculous too right?"
"Let me call her up. She should be part of this conversation too," Sabine said before calling her up. The woman took one look at Tikki and the master and smiled
"I should have known," she laughed, "Marinette is this why you are reluctant to leave?"
"Yes but Master Fu and I have a plan," Marinette smiled before introducing Tikki. "Everyone meet Tikki the ladybug miraculous of creation"
"Hello nice to meet you," Tikki smiled. Gina grinned and pulled a watch from her pocket. She quickly put it on and a kwami flew out.
"Everyone meet Rose the rattlesnake kwami of suggestion," Gina said, "my son Jordan has Vikki the dog kwami of energy and his two friends hold the rabbit kwami of escape and the white fox kwami of change,"
"That is awesome" Marinette smiled, "how long have you all had miraculouses"
"We received ours when we were 14," Sabine smiled, "Your father and I returned them to guardian when we married,"
"I was 15" Gina said, "and Jordan and his friends received theirs at 14,"
"I think our plan may work perfectly Marinette," Master Fu smiled, "Marinette has been chosen as the next guardian of the miraculous box of yin and yang. Her partner the black cat kwami of destruction is currently unaware of her identity though,"
"Why?" Tom asked
"Because of the power their miraculouses hold. The kwamis of creation and destruction hold a great power. A power greater than that of all the other miraculouses combined. With the threat of hawkmoth and his end goal of getting these particular miraculouses it was imperative that he not find the holders. The time will come when both of the holders will know it is time to reveal their identities and chat noir and ladybug have decided on that time" Master Fu said to shock of the others in the room
"That is a great responsibility" Sabine said sadly, "Marinette are you sure you are ready for what being a guardian will entail?"
"Right now I am not ready but I will be in the future," Marinette said confidently
"She will be an amazing guardian," Master Fu said
"Thank you Master Fu," Marinette smiled, "Actually that is why I asked permission to tell you. Master Fu and I have a plan to explain Ladybug's absence. Maman, Papa you mentioned you have a friend who does alot of travel and that her daughter travels with her right?"
"You mean Meredy?" Gina winced, "that is not a good idea"
"No that is definitely out of the question now," Sabine said, "Gina you mentioned earlier that you might be doing a lot of travel for work right?"
"Yes"
"What was your plan for Jordan?"
"He is going to finish the semester at his current school after that it is up to him if he wanted to stay in New York with his dad or travel with me and a tutor"
"Would Marinette be able to travel with you and a tutor also?" Master Fu asked, "I have someone I can call that can teach Marinette about the miraculouses and help with the school part also"
"Why is travel important?" Tom asked
"I want her to meet and work with other Miraculous holders and guardians," Master Fu said, "I called another friend after Marinette and I spoke, she is currently working with a holder who can purify the akumas. She will be here in two weeks. She is going to work with Chat Noir while she is here."
"Of course Marinette can travel with me and if you get me a list and addresses I will make sure we spend some time with everyone you want her to work with" Gina said
"Are you sure Gina?" Sabine asked, "it is asking a lot of you"
"I am absolutely sure," Gina smiled, "besides if Jordan decides to tag along it will be nice for him to have someone his own age along. It will also be good training for them working with other miraculous holders"
"Maman, Papa are you okay with this?" Marinette asked as she looked at them, "if you are not we can find another way"
"Of course we are okay with it," they smiled, "are you sure this is what you want to do and not what you think you have to do?"
"Yes I am sure" Marinette said, "even if the school repeals the expulsion and erases it...I cannot go back. And the idea of meeting other holders and guardians sound amazing"
"Then you have our blessing," Sabine smiled
"As long as you promise to keep in touch" Tom added
"I will always" Marinette smiled
"I think we should talk logistics now" Gina said, "I have to leave in 1 week and your replacement can't be here before then how are we going to handle this?"
"The horse miraculous," Master Fu said, "Kaalki's special ability is voyage and it will teleport Marinette when needed,"
