Friendship
761
Turnip had only expected to float through space for all of an eternity. His shock at waking up to blinding sun and dusty air nearly disturbed him, but not as much as the person who looked him over. His words were at least familiar, due to the Frieza Force's expansive language programming so that their troops could more easily communicate with other aliens, but how much the alien resembled a saiyajin was jarring.
Humans, he believed they were called; tailless creatures but otherwise the same. This one even had wild dark hair and a scar running along his cheek, like a true warrior.
762
Yamcha could not believe that guy was still living in the desert, even after he had offered to take the poor schmuck into the city. Psh, after meeting Nappa and Vegeta, he was more surprised that he didn't blow the planet to pieces himself.
"So are you all heartless monsters?" Yamcha shouted when he got within a few feet of the man.
He didn't even know the dude's name, but he'd never forget that long dark hair and how he had a monkey tail, just like Goku used to.
The saiyajin just rolled his dark eyes away from Yamcha's accusatory glare, as he muttered, "Frieza."
763
Turnip had hardly gotten the fire going for the giant reptile he had killed when his scouter began beeping at him. He groaned his annoyance when that same Earthling darkened his corner of the desert. Based on the power reading that he gave off, a fight between them would at least be interesting.
"I'm sorry for being a douchebag," the Earthling called over. "I shouldn't have assumed that being a saiyajin made you a bad person."
764
Based on what little he could get Vegeta to talk about, this guy should be excited about the news Yamcha had.
"Super Saiyajin?"
Those were the second and third words the bandit had ever heard the guy say.
"Yeah, apparently he came from the future, and his world is crazy nuts. That's why he was powerful enough to kill Frieza."
765
Turnip still found himself baffled by the friendly Earthling, but never more so than when he came looking to spar. The saiyajin simply nodded and when he quickly put the poor Earthling to his knees, the man stayed there and began crying.
"I can't believe she slept with him! If I can just show her I'm stronger!"
Turnip knelt next to the man, remembering a beautiful saiyajin woman who he also wasn't strong enough for.
766
Yamcha wasn't all that surprised when Turnip showed up and took a seat next to him in front of the fire. He supposed they were both lost in the desert, just in different ways.
"I need to do something different with my life man… Maybe learn to play the guitar or something."
The rogue then smiled to the bandit, "We had music once."
767
It was a simple saiyajin instinct that drew Turnip in the direction of the ever-growing power he sensed towards the west. No love for this planet whatsoever - of course, something he didn't mind about the Earth had to cross his path.
"Hey.. umm… there's going to be this tournament in 10 days, called the Cell Games. Basically if we all lose, the universe is going to be destroyed."
Turnip nodded, ignoring the stone settling in his chest.
768
It's nice to camp out here, without anything to warn about or try to get away from.
Turnip, of course, shook his head when the ex-bandit suggested a capsule house for a few nights. He supposed it did seem weird, especially after the rogue saiyajin spent so many years out here in the wilderness without such luxuries.
"Good," the long-haired alien nodded towards the tent. "Now I don't have to miss the stars at night."
769
Turnip didn't have an answer when Yamcha first asked him why he never wanted to interact with the other saiyajins on Earth. It seemed strange to the Earthling why Turnip wouldn't want to be around his other kinsmen, but the saiyajin couldn't bear the idea of explaining to his Prince that his life was spared only because a fellow saiyajin threw him into a space pod. Nor face the third class warrior that could accomplish the kind of power Turnip never dreamed of.
"I guess you're like me in that way," Yamcha sighed. "It's hard to be comfy around the people you're supposed to be like when somehow life seems to have forgotten you when spreading the good fortune."
770
"Would you ever want to return to space?"
"Whatever for?"
"See if any of your friends survived?"
"We didn't have friends in the Frieza Force. Just people we hoped wouldn't throw us before the Emperor."
771
So Earthlings don't live as long, nor can breed as far into life as saiyajins.
That was at least Turnip's understanding when Yamcha sighed at being 40, unmarried, and childless.
"Is that a goal in life? Breeding?"
"Seems silly," Yamcha laughed, "Especially when I consider that I didn't even know my old man."
772
I'm going to get eaten by a pink blob. That's cool, I suppose.
Yamcha gritted his teeth at the very thought of Buu's Human Extinction Attack.
He didn't even have a chance to defend himself. Just died alone in the desert...
