Days were tough for teenagers who couldn't make friends and weren't doing particularly well in school, especially when you live in your twin sisters shadow.
Such was the life of Satella.
She was a socially inept teenager with only one friend, with average grades and no real skills apart from her looks, which seemed to bring more harm than good.
Her social ineptitude was especially problematic when it came to the many boys flirting with her, all of which she would reject of course.
She only had eyes for one boy, a boy who had been there for her for years, her only friend, her best friend, Natsuki Subaru.
The thought of the black haired boy sent a tingle up her spine.
He was the opposite of her, a complete social butterfly, friends with almost the entire school it seemed like. The fact that many girls also had eyes for the boy she loved, but that wasn't of concern, she knew he would never leave her, even if he got a girlfriend, he promised her after all.
She shared many moments with her beloved. When they weren't together physically, they were texting or calling, truly an inseparable duo.
Her twin sister Emilia was noticeably jealous of her close relationship with Subaru. That's not to say she was upset by their friendship, far from it, Emilia was actually ecstatic Satella had a friend, and such a good one too.
Satella was never the best with people, but at Emilia's tenth birthday party, Subaru was the only person to speak to her, in fact Subaru had spent that entire day with her to make her feel involved, leading her by the hand to the other kids.
Ever since that day, he had been somewhat of a guide for her. Somebody she could trust and depend on, but more importantly, somebody she had come to love.
It was currently a Sunday, Satella's favourite day of the week.
Subaru would often come over to hang out with her and Emilia, but recently, Emilia and her parents have been going out each Sunday.
They didn't want to leave Satella behind, but Satella had said that she wanted to stay home, completely alone.
Her parents worried, they knew Subaru came over each Sunday, and they knew of Satella's feelings for him. They trusted her to be safe, but it was only natural that they worry.
Satella's toes curled, taking some of her bed sheets into a death grip as she squirmed.
Subaru was the best person she knew, the one constant in her life, the person she trusted most.
She wanted him, but he was a forbidden fruit. After all, why would someone as incredible as him, want someone as pathetic as her?
He had his pick of woman.
There was Satella's objectively better twin Emilia, who harboured feelings for the boy she jokingly called her knight.
Or Rem, a cute and shy girl with good grades and a big heart, she seriously called Subaru her hero and clung to his arm constantly.
Even Crush and Echidna seemed to contain some level of feelings for the boy, although they were much more baseless and unconfirmed.
She crashed her face into her pillow and let out a groan, looking at the time at the top of her phones screen.
11:50am.
She wouldn't mind if he picked one of his many other choices, they were all better than her of course.
But she would give anything for him to pick her, for his lips to be on hers, her body to be touched by him, to be wrapped in his embrace during the night, for his eyes to be locked to hers as he declared his love.
She knew of course that this would never happen, it was impossible, but a girl could dream, and so she would.
"I love you." She whispered into the pillow softly.
The thought of him set her cheeks ablaze, and yet she spent almost every waking moment with him, an inseparable duo where one was shy and one was outgoing.
Thankfully her naturally shy personality helped her hide her feelings.
He would often grasp her hand and run around the halls filled halls of their school, rushing past the student body without a care, a wide smile on his face as hers burned, a small smile present as she giggled, secretly loving the feeling of his hand grasping hers. His hand would occasionally tighten, sending her heart into a rate that would be considered life threatening, at least she thought so.
He would help her with homework, even though his own grades weren't fantastic. He would eat lunch with her, sit next to her in class, gossip with her about this and that.
A soft whimper escaped the girl as she continued to squirm.
There were brief moments when she thought she had a chance, when he would open his heart to her and share things nobody else knew about him, or when he would cry in her lap when times got tough, or when he hugged her tightly when she needed comfort, or when he would sit so close that their shoulders touched, and of course when he would hug her in public as if it were nothing.
Her personal favourite was when he wouldn't let go of her hand after holding it, or when he would stand up for her and fend off the boys flirting with her.
One time he had even pretended he was her boyfriend to help her out, and all he did afterwards was ask if she was okay with a smile.
Her form trembled on her bed as she kept her face glued to her pillow, blocking the outside world out entirely.
Subaru walked the streets of his hometown, a town he had never left before. He lived quite close to his destination and knew this area like the back of his hand.
He looked at his phone to check the time, smiling at the lock screen, a picture of him Satella and Emilia at Satella's most recent birthday party.
Most people couldn't tell the sisters apart, not him though, he knew their every difference.
Satella had slightly bigger eyes, as well as a faint mark on her chin from falling over one day, her smiles were also smaller, but more genuine.
He walked with a skip in his step, spending time with Satella was always a joy. She was a kind-hearted, albeit soft spoken and shy girl, who always seemed to be chirpy around him.
Her obvious beauty was also a bonus.
He briefly considered the idea of texting her, but decided against it, he would come as a surprise.
He walked past the front gate of the modest two-story home.
He confidently walked up the front step and knocked on the door. The lack of answer made him furrow his brows in confusion, but he didn't pay it too much thought, she would often leave the door unlocked as she was much like her sister, not a morning person.
He snickered as he took his shoes off at the door, placing them to the side before roaming the darm house.
"Just like usual, she hasn't even left her bed yet." He giggled to himself, opening the curtains in particular rooms.
He heard a noise come from her rooms and let out a low hum in response.
"Better than usual." He muttered, cleaning up some bench space and putting his bag on it. "Usually she's still asleep by the time I get here…" he kept his voice low, wishing to scare the poor girl.
He walked to her bedroom with small and soft steps, using his toes to creep around the house with a smirk.
Subaru knew this house, and especially Satella's room, like the back of his hand. Not a week went by where he didn't spend at least a day or two here.
Truly, Satella's parents' concern was justified.
The noise coming from her room was oddly muffled and frequent, Subaru furrowed his brows in light concern.
"I've never heard Ella sleep talk before…" He mumbled worriedly, quickening his pace.
He reached her door, a cold sweat making its way across his neck. He could feel that today was going to be impactful on his life, and he didn't know why.
Taking a deep breath, he swung the door open aggressively, only to be met by a scene that would forever engrain itself into his mind.
"S-Subaru." The silver haired girl moaned into her pillow, unaware of the horrified boy standing at her door.
The admittedly beautiful girl lay there, head buried in her pillow moaning his name, legs curled, and most importantly, a hand between her legs.
Subaru's face flared as he stared, his heartrate increasing tenfold, he had almost collapsed then and there.
He was unsure of how to react.
Fuckfuckfuckfuck whatdoIdowhatdoIdowhatdoIdowhatdoIdo
He choked on his breath and stumbled back slightly, attempting to leave as if nothing had happened.
Unfortunately, he forgot about the one squeaky floorboard he had consciously avoided mere seconds ago.
Satella's head shot up from her pillow as her every movement stopped abruptly.
She made eye contact with him and proceeded to scream.
"It's not what you think!" they yelled. Neither cared for the fact that the screamed the same thing at the same time, both too embarrassed to move.
Satella remained there, with tears bordering her eyelids as she stared at her love in horror.
She had been caught by the one person she wished not to be caught by.
"I-I'm so so so sorry!" the young man yelled before leaving the house, forgetting to take his bag in the process.
Satella stared at her door in shock as tears streamed down her face, she felt her heart ache as if a hand had squeezed it.
Everything was ruined.
He hated her.
He would never talk to her again.
"AHHHHH!" she screeches an unnatural and inhuman yell of mixed emotions, once again burying her face in her pillow, quickly soaking it in her tears.
Satella spent the rest of her time alone, crying into her pillow, not even having the energy to close her door.
Another day another Satella fic… why do I do this to myself?
Got inspiration for this after reading Re:Stalker, it's a good fic, but the author is kinda stinky, I heard he doesn't shower.
As usual I am obligated to say: Satella deserves more love.
This will be wholesome feel good and fluffy, not too serious :)
