Colombia. 1991. Museo Maritimo.
Nathan Drake was waiting for this moment. Here he was, outside the Museo Maritimo. He was here to steal a ring that belonged to the famous explorer, Sir Francis Drake. He was all by himself. Nathan's brother, Samuel Drake, was currently in prison in an unknown country. Nathan had no other family members. His father didn't give a shit about Nate nor his brother Samuel. His mother, Cassandra Morgan, killed herself a few years ago. She apparently had some sort of illness and, rather than seek medical help for her illness, she decided to shoot herself in the head with a .357 magnum.
After Cassandra's suicide, Mr. Drake put his sons Nathan and Samuel into an orphanage. The orphanage was called the St. Estes Home For Boys. Nathan and Samuel hated the orphanage. While in the orphanage, Samuel developed a sense of adventure. He started to engage in criminal activities, which ultimately led to him being kicked out of the orphanage. Nathan later went with his brother Samuel. Samuel and Nate stuck with each other for many years, until one day Samuel went to prison for some unknown reason and left Nathan by himself. Nathan missed his brother very much.
Now, the fifteen year old kid wanted to steal the ring that belonged to Sir Francis Drake, a famous English explorer that Nathan believed that he was descended from, even though Francis Drake had no children. Nathan Drake's real name was Nathan Morgan. So was his brother Samuel's last name. The fifteen year old boy walked into the museum. It was broad daylight outside. The museum was full of models of ships and other artifacts. Nathan was looking for a model of Francis Drake's famous ship: The Golden Hind. He knew that the model of the ship was in the museum somewhere. He looked at all of the exhibits and he couldn't find the model of Francis Drake's ship.
So, Nathan walked upstairs. He checked his journal every now and then to make sure what he was looking for. He found Francis Drake's ship model in on eof the exhibits upstairs. Nathan saw a shiny silver ring in a display case. He wanted the ring, for it was said to belong to Sir Francis Drake. He then noticed that was a button located on the side of the exhibit. He looked up and saw a man wearing a green shirt. The man had dark black hair. Nathan saw the man steal something from the museum and walk out the door. Nathan was about to follow the man outside, when a pair of museum guards took a hold of Nathan and threw him out of the museum.
Nathan hit the ground hard outside. He got back up and he proceeded to follow the man who stole something from the museum. He tailed the man to his destination, even climbing up on the nearby buildings using his excellent parkour that his brother Samuel taught him. The man eventually went inside of some building. Nathan silently eavesdropped in the window below. Nathan then slowly climbed back down the building and followed the man to a rendezvous point where there was a blonde woman meeting him. Nathan pick-pocketed the man's wallet.
The man noticed Nate's theft and decided to confront him. The man cornered the teenage boy. He grabbed Nate by the waist.
"Sueltame, viejo!" Nate said in Spanish to the man.
"Let's try that again." The man said to Nate.
"Let go of me!" Nate said to the man.
"Ahh, that's what I thought. Now don't try to run. You're a long way from home, son." the man said to Nate.
"Don't call me that." Nate said.
"Parents must be worried about you." the man said to Nate.
"Yeah. Not likely." Nate said to the man.
"Okay – sore subject. That was a nice lift back there. You're pretty good." the man said to Nate.
"I don't know what you're talking about, old man." Nate said to the man.
"Your technique is a little sloppy." the man said to Nate.
"You're crazy." Nate said.
"Yeah? You've been tailing me all over town. Probably figured me for an easy mark. But you picked the wrong guy, pal. Ah ah." the man said to Nate.
"What?" Nate said to the old man. How did this guy know that Nate was following him? Does he have clairvoyant powers?
"My wallet." the man said to Nate. When Nate refused to hand over the man's wallet, he said, "Fine, maybe we'll just call the police."
"Go ahead.'Course they might wonder why a middle aged tourist is following young boy." Nate said.
"You are a crafty little beggar, aren't you?" the man said to Nate.
"I know how to take care of myself. Anyway, I'm pretty sure you don't like the cops any more than I do." Nate said.
"Good point. Kid. The wallet." the man said. The teenager gave the man his wallet back.
"Had to try." Nate said.
"'Course you did." the man said.
"Telegraphing my moves huh? Museum's closed." Nate said. He knew that the museum was closed at the time. He planned to go back later to get the ring. He really wanted the ring. He had been waiting years for this moment.
A few hours later, Nathan Drake returned to the sight of the museum, ready to steal the ring of Francis Drake. He entered the museum through a window. He saw the ring in the display case. It was in the room that Nathan was in earlier. He checked to see if anybody was there in the room with him. Nobody seemed to be in the room with him at the moment.
"There it is." Nate said as he approached the ring. All of a sudden, three people walked into the room. There was the man that Nate had met earlier, along with a blonde woman and another man. The Blonde woman's name was Katharine Marlowe. The man's name was Victor Sullivan. Victor was the man that Nathan had met earlier. Nate held the ring in his hand.
"Why, Victor - look who it is… the filthy little stray that made off with your wallet." Katherine Marlowe said.
"C'mon, son. You haven't got a chance. Just hand it over." Victor said to the teenage boy.
"Give me the ring, now." Katherine said to the kid.
"What ring?" Nate asked the woman.
Suddenly, the ring glowed brightly. In a flash, Nathan Drake was gone. Katherine Marlowe, Victor Sullivan and Katherine Marlowe were stunned. They did not just see a fifteen year old boy vanish in an instant.
