Copyright: I do not own Wizards of Waverly Place or any of the characters on the show, this is a fan-work, hence the category "fan-fiction." The following situations are based on my imagination. The only thing I own is the plot and original characters.

This is a Jalex fic. No, I do not support incest in real life but this is a fanfiction about two fictional characters. I simply love how the characters interact. They also make incest jokes in the show and even though I didn't notice it as a kid, Justin and Alex share a lot of dialogue that is inappropriate for siblings. Although most of that was adult humor and obviously targeted at the grown-ups watching. Luckily I was able to catch these jokes quickly and warm up to Jalex fairly easily since the first movie was literally about them, and the first 3 seasons had its good moments thanks to David and Selena's amazing chemistry, but ended with only two Jalex scenes in the fourth season (After the Wizards vs. Angels arc and the Finale). I was sad to see the two characters drift apart for no reason and the fact the movie had NO IMPACT on their characters in the long term was sucky because I think that movie was the best thing to come out of Disney in a long time.

"I can't believe that Mason destroyed your "Wizard of the Year" ceremony already. Wow, I guess time really flies when you're reliving your past, huh?" Future Harper chortles as her best friend finishes retelling her the events of what's happened since she last saw her. True, she might have spilled the beans a little when it came to Mason but at least Alex got together with him. The most important thing is that she stays on this path. The Justin in her timeline specifically asked her to. She knows the future she came from is the same, since she can still communicate with him through the phone. She mentally rolls her eyes at the image of Justin probably scrunching up his nose and stiffening up when she calls the comrifticater a phone. It's so much easier than calling it its official™ name.

"You betcha. Not that I know anything about time travel, but hypothetically, what if I wanted to go back in time and change the past?" As soon as those words come out of her mouth— "change the past," —Harper tenses up. Time travel and Alex never boded well in the same sentence. Not even her best friend in the present knows of her ventures in the past, Harper made sure to keep her contact with the future Alex minimal. After all, the past and future should stay separate. She's more of a monitor, an observer who only exists to make sure things go as her "boss" wanted them to.

"Alex, no. You know even the slightest change in the past can have disastrous effects on the future." The young woman groans, throwing her head back as the future version of her best friend throws the remaining dirty dishes on the counter into her sink.

"I know. Hey, remember that time we took my dad's time machine and went to the past so that we owned the sub station? Ah, good times." Alex mischievously giggles as Harper shakes her head at the young wizard. She may have her full wizard powers now, but she's still as conniving and carefree as ever.

"You know, I thought you learned from your experience after almost giving up your powers for good after making an evil clone of yourself. It still baffles me how you never change." Alex shrugs. It was strange that Harper was pointing this out to her now of all times, seeing as she doesn't ridicule the crazy tiger themed outfit she has on. (keep in mind that she is 34)

"Yeah, well it's me you're talking to so you better think again," Alex kicks back her legs as she eats the snickerdoodles Harper made earlier. They're already hard and super crunchy so she has to work a little harder at chewing but it's the easiest thing she's done in a long time, since she's busy saving the world the other half of the time. "Thanks for the cookies, Harper. I'll visit soon, okay?" She waves her wand as her friend bids her goodbye and before she can blink, Alex is back in the loft of the Russo family home.

"Mom, Alex is back! Maybe you can ask her to help you move Justin's boxes instead of me...you know I'm hurting right now." Max puts a hand over his chest, dramatically sighing as he puts a hand over his heart, which coincidentally ended up being on the right side of his body.

"Aw, sweetie it's okay. Maybe Talia will swing by later and you can work things out when she does. For now, you should head down to the shop and help your dad. He's the only one running the place right now." Teresa rubs her son's back as a very reluctant Max Russo trudges to the spiral staircase.

"Wow, I've never seen Max so...brooding. Is that the right word? Eh, I was never good at English anyways." She shrugs, passively flopping onto the orange couch as her mother puts her hands on her hips and rolls her eyes at her lazy daughter.

"Well, can you blame him? First of all he changed himself for this girl, and now this girl is giving him the silent treatment, and he made me and your father go out to see a 16 hour long show at the opera theatre. It's madness!"

"Oh mom, you have to get over it. That was like, three months ago. Max will get over it. If he and Talia were really meant to be, destiny would get them together. Like me and Mason." Alex gushes at the thought of her werewolf boyfriend, daydreaming about him again as her mother tries to get her attention.

"Honey, Mason was like the third or forth guy you dated? Even then it felt like destiny was trying to tear you apart." Alex raises an eyebrow at her mother's words.

"How so?" Teresa continues tossing things into a huge red bowl in attempts of magically stirring up a salad, which is pretty ironic considering that she lives with two wizards and any one of them could just zap a full thanksgiving feast to the table with a snap of their fingers.

"Well, you lost him once, and that was within a week of you guys dating when you thought he became a wolf forever. Then, you lost him again after quitting the wizard competition, and then the last time was when you broke up with him because he ruined your awards ceremony."

"Okay mom, I get your point!" Alex yawns as she picks up a magazine from the table. "Even though it felt like destiny was trying to tear us apart, we fought for our happy ending. I mean, how much happier can I be with Mason selling his art on the street and his parents wanting to eat me so we avoid them like the plague?" Teresa finally finishes mixing the chicken salad, giving Alex a knowing stare and calling the rest of the family into the dining room.

"Dinner is ready! Dig in, everybody. It's got everything." Jerry wipes his forehead with a towel. He has recently gotten into working out, and thanks to Juliet, he kept up those healthy habits for a total of three months now.

"Does it have protein? I need a lot of protein."

"Honey, you have more than enough protein in there already, trust me." Teresa slaps a hand on his stomach as Jerry glares at his wife, obviously not taking the comment too well. He thought he lost a decent amount of weight.

"This little piece of spinach reminds me of the spinach Talia had stuck between her teeth, and when I pointed it out to her she got super mad at me for not telling her sooner…" Max sulks in his chair as his mother ruffles his soft brown locks.

"Aw, mijo...it's gonna be okay. If you really love her, you should let her go. If she really loves you, she'll be back." Teresa comforts her son, rubbing his shoulders as he stares at his plate with a frown on his face.

"You know what they say, opposites attract," Jerry and Teresa share a knowing look as their daughter scoops up a spoonful of salad. "But in some cases, it's not true. Look at me and Mason, we both like art, we like long walks in the park, and we can both grow our hair when we want to." Her heart fills with giddiness as she thinks of her boyfriend again. Not a day goes by where she doesn't appreciate her werewolf beau.

"Oh cool, you can grow a beard like a werewolf?" Alex stares at her younger brother, half disappointed but not surprised.

"Max, I'm a full wizard. Of course I can grow a beard if I want to." Her hands glow as she summons her ball of power just to show it off again because she wants to keep reminding everyone that she won the family wizard competition and kept her powers but Max keeps wanting to challenge her, despite not having his powers anymore.

"I battle you to a duel to see who can make the best wizard costume!" He jumps up to his feet, salad spilling out of his mouth as he points to his bedroom. "To the lair!" Alex rolls her eyes, murmuring, "He sounds as dorky as Justin."

"Alex, did you find a new place yet?" When her mother mentions the apartment-search Alex groans out loud.

"No, and I'm not gonna move out for a while. Harper thinks everything that happened at the Windsor was a sign that we shouldn't move out of here."

"But all those creatures from the Wizard World stayed here for a week before they found another place to live, I'm sure it was just as tough on them as it was on you so I suggest you get your act together, young lady." Teresa scolds her daughter in a prudent manner, mentally patting herself on the back for letting Alex hear it. It's no surprise that her daughter is lazy, just like her father back in the day when it came to throwing out expired meat but he said "the expiration date is just a suggestion" and put it off for months before customers started getting food poisoning and they almost got sued.

"I don't think I should move into another wizard floor. Plus, the place kinda creeped Harper out. I think she'll like living in a normal apartment with other mortals for neighbors instead of dismembered zombies that think her brain smells cute and tasty." Just as she speaks of her friend, Harper runs into the loft with a piece of paper in hand.

"I got accepted to NYU!" Alex jumps out of her seat, hugging her friend as she jumps up and down in excitement.

"Congratulations, Harper! That sounds like great news. Oh, maybe we can make you some of those snickerdoodles that you like to make for us, for a change?"

"Oh no, you're not getting anywhere near my recipe. It's a secret." She eyes Mrs. Russo until she backs down.

"Mom, just make some chocolate chip cookies. Everyone loves those." Alex bats her eyelashes at her mother as she walks back to the kitchen with a now empty salad bowl in hand. Teresa leaves to give the girls a bit of privacy, as Jerry retreats out to the terrace to catch up on some "light reading" which was his code for a nap.

"Alex, I actually wanted to tell you something else. It's about our rooming arrangement." From the tone of her voice, Alex could tell she was being serious.

"Harper, I hope this isn't about the broken horn on your taxi dress, because I swear it was an accident and it was dark so I couldn't see well?" She wasn't lying this time, even though her statement came out as a question.

"What? No, this has nothing to do with my dress. Wait, you ruined my dress?"

"Ugh, it's not important right now. Tell me what you were going to say about us rooming together." Alex attempts to get her friend back on topic, scrunching her nose from the awkward tension lingering in the air.

"Well Mr. Frenchy, the world-famous fashion designer, just fired his assistant and he wants me to take her place." Alex gawks at her best friend, hugging her and squealing as Harper breaks the good news. She's always looked up to Mr. Frenchy and now she's gonna get the chance to work alongside him, while getting paid!

"Oh my gosh, that's amazing, Harper."

"Yeah it is, but you do know what this means, right?" Alex raises an eyebrow. She was confused by Harper's unenthusiastic reaction. Normally, when one of them jumps up and down in excitement, the other follows. Doing it alone is just stupid.

"No...?"

"It means I'll be traveling a lot. Not just around New York, but all over the world and attending fashion shows alongside Mr. Frenchy while learning on the job and doing school online. I'll have to leave you." Alex frowns momentarily, but then she puts on a smile just for her friend. She'll learn to cope without her friend's outrageous outfits or her snappy comebacks, or her helpful advice which helps Alex whenever she has a problem. She's gonna miss her but she'll be back. It's not like Harper is going away forever.

"This is your dream. As long as you're happy, I'm happy. You should take the job." Alex gives her the approval she was looking for and for the first time since Harper broke the news to her, she jumps up and down in excitement before calming herself down.

"Sorry, I forgot we're women now. Women don't jump up and down when they're happy." Alex and Harper share a knowing look before hopping up and down in place and circling around to the couch so they can flop down like how they always do.

A flash of light interrupts them, just as Alex is about to turn on the t.v.

"Hello Alex, Hello Harper. It's me, your friendly neighborhood professor, Justin Russo." Alex rolls her eyes at her brother's antics as he makes that annoying announcement for the thousandth time.

"Hey Dork-zilla. How's life at school? Are the delinquents doing well?"

"Actually, Felix is my apprentice. Apparently there's this crazy prophecy that goes along with the most powerful wand in the wizard world and only Renaldi's long-lost descendant can fulfill it, but first he must choose his path carefully." He waves his arms around for a dramatic effect.

"Why did you say it like that?" Harper asks as Alex kicks up her feet.

"Like what?"

"You know, with the 'choose his path carefully,' why did you say it mysteriously?"

"Because it's part of the prophecy."

"Okay, since you're clearly not gonna leave any time soon, why don't you just lay it on all of us. What's this prophecy?" Asks Alex as Justin clears his throat and smiles like a kid who just got a lollipop.

"As soon as the lost heir returns, a friend shall bring the end of the secret,

There comes a day when the sky turns a different blue, a path must be chosen with most prudent regard,

There comes a day when wizards run awry, One that has the mummy's eyes gain sight for the future,

Eldest siblings who shall not be named, the ones who partake in what is forbidden must come to a decision,

For there was a reason greater that the powers were granted to two and not one,"

"Justin." Alex gawks at her brother as he says the prophecy aloud, dictating it with such ease that it was painstakingly clear that he studied it, down to the last syllable.

"Alex, I think you know better than me who this prophecy is talking about. This was why I was afraid of Renaldi's heir finding the wand. It kickstarts these weird events and I'm happy with my life as it is now! I don't want things changing because the sky turns a different shade of blue." The oldest Russo paces around the room as Harper stares between them, scratching her head before standing up.

"I think I'm gonna go hang out with Zeke now, see you later." She calmly walks out the door, which is pretty inconsistent of her since her character has a habit of bolting at the first sign of danger and screaming "See you in P.E!" When she isn't even in school anymore.

"Justin, this can be interpreted in a number of ways. Like, this line "One that has the mummy's eyes have sight for the future," what does that even mean?" Justin throws his hands up in the air, resisting the urge to slap his sister upside the head.

"It's literally in the words. The one with the mummy's eyes can see the future. Who do we know that owns a pair of mummy eyes? I don't know...Max?!"

"Did someone say my name?" Max decides to make a reappearance, this time dressed in a blue robe with a pointy hat and grey beard, holding a cardboard wand as Justin and Alex stare at him in disbelief. This was the kid that was gonna start seeing visions of the future?

"Max, me and Justin were wondering if you happened to have those eyes from the mummy we killed in Transylvania?"

"Oh, yeah. They're in my closet, somewhere." Max spaces out for a second as his siblings go back to discussing the prophecy.

"The siblings in the next line are definitely us, but what can we do that's "Forbidden?" I hope it isn't referring to Puerto Rico." Alex shudders from the memory of almost losing her family within a day. She should really get a holster for her wand so that when she makes stupid wishes out of anger, it actually doesn't come true.

"The book of Forbidden spells? I thought we agreed to lock that away, far, far away." Justin shudders at the memory of those dreadful 48 hours, of which he managed to forget his own sister and see her in a different light. He knew he loved her right before he was swept away by the tornado of time, and not in a brotherly way either.

He pushed those thoughts deep down inside of him, but lately, they seemed to have resurfaced. Especially since she helped him in the Wizard Competition and she was obligated to. It was like she paid back all the debts she owed to him from him helping her out so many times when they were younger.

She was no longer a little girl, she was a strong woman. Justin wasn't gonna lie, she was easy on the eyes in a body-hugging spandex suit.

"Maybe it's not talking about the book. Justin, you said you researched this, right?" Her older brother nods, staring at her with equally confused bluish-grey eyes. "It says that we were both granted full powers for a reason more important than you being the new Headmaster of Wiztech and me being the family wizard. If we can figure that out, then we'll be on our way." Alex stops herself before she starts sounding like she cares.

She keeps up her tough-girl image because she doesn't want to appear weak. Justin sees right through her, though. He got it out of her when she was under the truth spell way back when she was delivering her important speech to the student body. (Reference Episode "Alex's Logo)

"Alex, it's not that simple. This prophecy has been around since...well since the evil warlock trapped Renaldi's wand in that magical sphere long before the museum of wiz-artifacts was even founded."

"Well, has anyone been able to interpret it correctly yet?" Justin shrugs, throwing a blank glance in his sister's direction.

"...No…"

"There's your answer. If we can figure this out first, you can have your name on the wizard's book of...important people that discovered...things." Alex turns away from Justin, hiding her cringing face as she mentally scolds herself for coming up with such an obvious lie. She has been really off her game as of late. Maybe spewing bad lies comes with the territory of being a good person (Yuck), but she would never admit that.

"That's...a good point! Huh, I never thought of it like that. Thanks, Alex. You're a good sister." Justin gives her a heart-melting smile as she sticks her tongue out at him, folding her arms as he crosses over to hug her. She enjoys it while it lasts, easing into the hug and even cracking a smile as her older brother squeezes her back.

"I just realized something."

"What?" Justin pulls away first, leaving Alex feeling a bit empty and cold without his warmth. Did she really so desperately need his hugs? She was no longer a little girl who needed her big brother to clean up her messes, so it makes sense for her to push him away. After all these years of relying on him.

"We're the only people in this family who hug each other." Justin laughs at her tone as she said it with such seriousness.

"You say that like it's a bad thing. Come on, don't you want to give your big brother another hug?" He opens his arms, preparing to pull her in for a bone-crushing hug.

"Justin, stop! No more hugs, that's enough affection for today." She giggles, running around the couch as he chases her like it was the old days, back when she and Max used to pull pranks on him and he used to chase them down till they ran out of breath.

"Oh no no, you're not going anywhere." He finally captures her and in that moment, they both forgot they were wizards who could zap out of the situation at any time.

It was different for them, because they didn't want it to end just yet.
