Welcome to my very first fanfiction! For quite some years I enjoyed reading other peoples work and spend quite some waking hours doing so. Writing has always been appealing to me, I just never really made the time and effort with try it myself. But here we are! My very first Beyblade fanfiction. I still feel quite uncomfortable in writing but the only way to improve is to pretty much do it ;-)

Also mind me, English is not my native language and thanks to writing I have already picked up a few new words/synonyms! Anyways I am looking forward to everybody's feedback, feel free to criticize give tips or simply let me know if you enjoyed it, or not.

As for the progression of the story, I am kind of looking for a TalaJulia centered fanfic. However I want to expand to other characters and perhaps even other pairings. It is a well thought out choice of mine to use a setting where the characters would be in their mid-20's because I feel a lot more affinity with it. I have a broad idea on how I want to progress the whole story line, but as I mentioned before I am a complete rookie writer.

The title is referring to a song from All Good things, It just gives me such a fitting vibe for the direction I want to take. Anyways! I hope you enjoy my first take on this story and I will hopefully be able to come up with new content soon!

Chapter 1

She inhaled the sharp cold air, holding her coat tightly. She checked her watch, the digits reading 22:15. The snow was slowly fluttering down. Building up on the thick layer that had already formed in just a few hours' time.

"I just want to be back in my room and take a long bath. This country just isn't my thing." She thought to herself with a deep sigh.

Pacing back and forth Impatiently desperately trying to stay warm. Rubbing her hands together for some extra heat.

The lights from an approaching tow truck could be seen in the distance. "finally.." She sighed in relief.

The truck parked in front of her broken down car. A mechanic with lush red hair stepped out, wearing a black coverall. She caught a faint scent of dark coffee as the door opened.

"Doesn't seem like she's from here." He mumbled under his breath. "Must've underestimated the weather around here."

"Thanks for coming so so-." She turned around but stopped mid-sentence once her eyes fell on the man before her. "You're.." She stammered.

It has been around 5 years now, if not longer since she had last seen him. Remembering back how she got her ass handed to her by him.

"Here take this." Ignoring her moment of shock he tossed her a thicker blanket. "Just pass me the keys."

Did he just ignore her completely? "Perhaps he doesn't remember me.." She thought. Her chest tightened slightly at that idea, surely he wasn't the most popular among the insiders of the high ranking Beyblade teams but she always felt a little bit attracted to his gruff appearance.

The sound of an engine turning back to life woke her up from her slight daydream.

"Of course… she would pull up the hand break in freezing temperatures." He mumbled to himself

She looked at him with anxious eyes hoping she could return to her warm bed very soon. Instead he sighed and motioned her to come over to his side. He opened the door on the driver's side and she leaned forward.

"Look… never operate the handbrake in freezing temperatures, instead put it in first gear and then switch off the engine. " He paused for a moment, knowing most of his stranded clients know shit about car mechanics.

"Just let the engine run for now, the heat will slowly melt the ice on the brake and you should be good to go again."

"Thank you." She nodded with a big smile. "Uhm, how long will it take?"

"About 15 – 20 minutes." He replied.

He got out of the car and motioned her to follow him. "Want some coffee?"

The joyful thought of having a warm beverage made her jump up following him towards the truck. She entered the passenger side and eased herself in the comfy chair. She was amazed by how spacious the cabin was. Laying the blanket over her legs she gladly accepted the warm cup.

A few quiet minutes had passed, he was reading something from a tabloid. "I wonder what happened to him after his team pretty much broken down the whole BEGA scheme. She wondered.

"Correct me if I am wrong.. but aren't you?"

"Yes." He replied, not looking up from the digital form he was filling in.

"I see." She sunk back in the chair. Guessing that the time she would be referring to was probably not one he'd find worth remembering anymore.

Stepping out of the truck he checked back on her car. He fiddled around with the brake hoping of getting some life back. At last it came loose.

She stepped outside to see what he was up to. Knowing that their short meeting would soon be over, and she would be on her way again. Probably never seeing him again. The thought made her a little uneasy, at least she wanted to know he was doing okay. "C'mon girl you're a grown woman now, at least have the courtesy to offer him a thank you." She took a gulp, slapped her cheeks and walked up to him.

"Seems you're good to go."

"Look, I am really thankful for your help. I'll be staying here for a little while anyways because well.. you know championships and all." Pausing for a moment there. "Please allow me to repay you, coffee maybe?" Her lips curling in a small smile.

A bit surprised by her request. "Well.. It is my job pretty much." He replied.

"I insist." That determined look in her eyes, there was so much spirit in them. He shook his head a little and decided it was okay to lower his guard a little bit.

"Alright, alright. Here's my card, just don't get stuck in this weather again." He teased.

With a bright smile she accepted the contact information and tucked it safely in her purse.

"I will be on my way then." Opening the door to the car she got in the driver's seat and slowly drove off. The roads where still slightly slippery and she was nowhere used to driving in these circumstances.

Once her car was out of sight he got back into the truck. Sinking in the comfortable seat taking a deep breath, unfortunately his break was going to be a short one. The phone went off once again for another stranded person. "This is going to be a long night." He groaned.

Picking up the phone the operator on the other side asked for his assistance in towing out truck that got off the road. "Alright, let me grab some extra materials and I will be on my way."

Slowly she dipped her toes in the warm water before sliding into the warm bath. The water touching her sun kissed skin made her muscles relax while she sank deeper in the water. With a deep sigh of relief she embraced the warmth. In the distance soft music was playing in the background. Softly humming along with the song. "And we keep driving, into the night. It's a late goodbye…"

A knock on the bathroom door send her back to reality "Raul!" She cheered. "I see you made it back." He said with a tone of relief.

"Yeah, you will absolutely never guess who came to repair the car."

"Oh?" Looking at her questioning.

"Remember Tala from the Russian team?"

"How can I not forget them Julia…" Replying with a slight huff in his voice.

"Well…" She paused. "He fixed the car pretty fast." Pausing for a moment and taking a breath. "And he didn't seem so hostile anymore, I guess they grew older as well along the way." Now spoken with a slight downhearted tone.

Raul clearly had a different view on their past meetings. "Not like we will ever see them in the arena again. They all went their own way as far as I heard."

"Do you think he'd be up for a rematch." Questioning her brother.

"Well…" Raul stammered. "I'd rather steer clear of them."

"I see.." She sank back in the hot water while glancing at her brother as he left the bathroom.

A couple of hours later of ploughing through dirt, oil and snowy mess he finally parked the truck in the driveway. His head dropping down on the steering wheel from fatigue, in a good way however. While giving his shoulders a small rub he took a deep breath, grabbed his stuff and got out of the car.

Walking up to the doorway he was mindlessly checking his phone. "Man it's 4 in the morning already." Reaching in his pockets for his keys he opened the door, dropped his gear with a thud on the floor. Lacking any form of restraint to make a quiet entrance. Hauling himself up on the staircase he could just smell his pillow.

In the far distance he could hear an alarm going off, checking his own clock it was saying 5:30 in the morning. Growling in annoyance he dug his head back in the pillow. His ears perked up from somebody trying to tippy toe towards his door.

"Don't do it…" He mumbled half asleep. With a loud thud the bedroom door swayed open. The smallest brother jumped into the room shouting: "Breakfast!"

His hands scanned the bedside table to find the nearest object to throw. "Why do you always wake me in the morning…" He groaned.

"Well, since we eat breakfast together." Ian simply stated.

"Besides, we all need to wake up around this hour anyways." Ian shrugged.

"Not me! I'm self-employed remember." He replied in a snarky tone.

"Yeah yeah, we heard that one before, slow ass mechanic." The pipsqueak replied while running down the staircase.

"Engineer!" The redhead shouted.

"I suppose of you add up all the hours that I manage to sleep in a week I might be able to get… 8, god I'm so tired I can't even do math" Rolling onto his stomach in frustration tossing the pillow over his head.
