This is Berk, it's twelve days North of hopelessness and a few days of freezing to death.
It's been there for seven generations.
Other villages have pest, we have dragons.
Most people would runaway.
Not us, we're Vikings.
On the Island of Berk lived a boy named Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the third.
Parents believe that his name would scare off Gomes.
He was born sick and his parents thought he wouldn't survive his first winter, but he did.
His Island was raided by dragons.
He is the heir to Berk and often picked on by the villagers.
He has a cousin named Snotlout Jorgenson.
He came up with inventions that backfired on him due to Snotlout and the twins, Ruffnut and Tuffnut messing with his inventions and leaving him to take the fall.
Snotlout nicknamed him Hiccup the useless because he can't throw a bola, can't swing an axe or throw a hammer and can't lift anything but a dagger.
He worked in the forge with Gobber since he was ten years old.
He had two best friends named Fishlegs Ingerman and Astrid Hofferson, who he had a crush on but never got the chance to hangout with her because she abandon him to train to fight dragons and ignore him.
Fishlegs stop hanging with Hiccup so he wouldn't get bullied by Snotlout and the twins.
Hiccup was fifteen years old laying in his bed thinking about his life and thinking of ways to leave Berk for a few months to a year.
He was debating to abandon Berk because of their treatment towards him.
He laid in his bed thinking of his mom.
Soon he heard the blow horn ringing, signaling dragon raid.
He ran down the stairs and out to the forge dodging dragons and villagers engaging them.
A villager yells "get back inside!"
His father Stoick ask Ack "what do we got?"
Ack replies Gronckles, Deadly Nadders, Hideous Zipplebacks, Monstrous Nightmares, Terrible terrors."
Stoick ask "any Night Furies?"
Ack replies "none so far."
Hiccup arrived at the forge and begin sharpening an axe.
Gobber smirks "nice of you to join the party. I thought you would be carried off."
Hiccup replies "no I'm way too muscular for their taste. They wouldn't know what to do with all this."
Gobber comments "well they need toothpicks."
A dragon fired a shot at a house setting it on fire.
The fire brigade containing Snotlout, Fishlegs, twins, Ruffnut and Tuffnut and Astrid Hofferson who gaze at her as an explosion happened behind her making her look beautiful.
Hiccup tries to leave and whines "let me out to make my mark."
Gobber complains "you already made plenty of marks."
Hiccup sighs "I only did that to get everyone's approval, but Snotlout and the twins destroyed my inventions and no one cares about little Hiccup."
Gobber sighs "you can't swing an axe, you can't throw a bola, you can't lift anything but a dagger."
Hiccup smirks "this will launch a bola for me and I don't care about girls because no one would notice me unless dad bought a girl for me to marry and I would have to put up with their attitude, so I'll pass."
Gobber gaped "what about your heir to the tribe?"
Hiccup sighs "I guess I would have to pick one because no girl would want be married to me."
A villager yells "Night Fury!"
Another one yells "get down!"
Another yells "we need more help out here!"
Gobber puts on his axe attachment and runs out to help villagers.
Hiccup left with his bola lancher and wheels it out to the cliffside and sets it up.
Night Fury blast a catapult iiuìiij i kidestroying it.
Hiccup launch the bola at it hitting the Night Fury.
Night Fury roared as it fell from the sky and crashed down by Ravens point.
Hiccup smiles "I hit it! Oh this is great and no one saw it except you."
A monstrous Nightmares chase Hiccup destroying his bola launcher.
Ack directs Stoick to see a Monstrous nightmare chase his son through the village.
Stoick runs after them.
Hiccup hides behind a fire torch tower as the nightmare burns the tower.
The nightmare walks around the pole and charges to blast him when Stoick punches the nightmare wasting the shot.
The nightmare flees after running out of fire shots.
Everyone watch Hiccup in the middle with Stoick.
Hiccup sighs "I'm sorry about the dragons getting loose, but I hit a Night Fury."
Everyone laughs at him.
Stoick yells "stop! Hiccup, why can't you just stop being you, winter is coming and I have a village to take care of. I don't got time to worry about you or deal with your inventions and lies. Why can't you just stay in forge, you may grow up being the worst viking in the village.
Hiccup sighs, hiding his sadness.
Stoick sighs "take him home I have to take care of his mess again and figure out how to keep him grounded and figure out what could straighten him out."
Hiccup turns around and walks with Gobber home and silently agrees that his side has change and has no loyalty towards Berk anymore.
After Gobber drops him off at his house.
Hiccup walks out the back door and into the forest with sadness from his father.
He search the forest until he comes across a tree that was hit by something and crash into the ground.
He follows the trail over the hill to see a black dragon that was the Night Fury.
He looks back towards the village and walks down the hill and checks for a heartbeat causing the Night Fury to huff.
Hiccup lays his forehead against the Night Fury whispering "I did this for a village that doesn't care about me and treats me like an outcast."
The Night Fury turns to the boy and looks in his eyes to see everything the villagers did to him and realized that he has no one to trust him and wants a friend badly.
Hiccup sighs and cuts the ropes freeing the Night Fury "your free and I won't say anything about you, I just want to be accepted as I am. I have no one to care for me."
The Night Fury begins walking away from him thinking about the boy and how bad he is miserable.
Hiccup leaves heading back to the village after following the Night Fury to a hidden Cove by Ravens point.
He smiles "this is beautiful place to hide from the villagers."
He leaves the Night Fury and walks back through forest to his father's house.
Stoick was hosting a council meeting "one more trip before the ice sets in. If we don't finish them, they will finish us."
Ack complains "but those ships never come back.
Stoick sighs "those who don't want to come can stay and watch Hiccup."
Gobber comments "I'll go pack my spare undies."
Stoick sighs "no, I want you to stay and train the recruits and Hiccup as well."
He looks at Alistair Hofferson and talks with him about having Astrid marry his son to straighten him out and ground him.
Alistair thinks about it and says "I don't know about that, but he does make good repairs to our weapons."
Stoick smiles "how about I supply all three parts of wedding parts for your daughter and I'm sure your daughter would love to have Hiccup make her any weapon she wants at anytime."
Alistair shakes his hand to seal the deal "in four days Hiccup will marry your daughter."
Stoick heads home to inform his son.
When he arrives at his house, he calls for Hiccup to get no reply and stokes the fire.
Hiccup arrives at home and walks up the stairs.
Stoick sternly says "Hiccup."
Hiccup sighs "uh dad, I need to tell you something."
Stoick replies "I got a three things to tell you."
Hiccup nervous answers "I can't kill dragons."
Stoick tells him "you kill dragons."
Hiccup gape "what?"
Stoick replies "you get your wish. In the morning, you start dragon training and in four days you will marry the Hofferson lass."
Hiccup gape "what are you talking about?"
Stoick grins "I talked Alistair Hofferson into having his daughter marry you."
Hiccup sputters "how did they agree to that?"
Stoick smiles "I offer to supply all three parts of the wedding ceremony."
Hiccup bows his head "I can't believe you would do this behind my back."
He walks upstairs and slams the door.
He grabs his journal and writes down that he shot down a Night Fury and everyone laughed at him.
He wrote down that he got engaged to Astrid Hofferson. That he and the Night Fury form something just doesn't know what it is. That his father called him the worst viking on the Island and possibly changed his loyalty from the villagers to dragons due them mistreating him.
Next morning, Hiccup grabbed his father's axe and walked downstairs and had oatmeal.
His dad left already and comments "we never have breakfast as a family anymore and now I can't stand near him without screaming at him."
After eating breakfast he walks out to the dragon arena to begin dragon training.
Astrid comments "no turning back."
Tuffnut smirks "I hope I get some serious burns."
Ruffnut comments "I'm hoping for some biting."
Astrid comments "yeah it's only fun if you get a scar out of it."
Hiccup comments "I don't know why you people like scars for."
Tuffnut whines "oh great, who let him in?"
Hiccup scowls "that wouldbe my father who enrolled me in this class when I told him no, and forced to make a deal with him which I'm not."
Gobber tells the group "let's get started. Who ever does best gets the honor of killing his or her first dragon in front of the whole village."
Snotlout comments "Hiccup already killed a Night Fury, so does that disqualify him?"
Hiccup comments "isn't comments like that, that I'm debating on changing my loyalty towards enemies because all you people do is make fun of me, I should be charging you more than anyone else for repairing your hammer you mug bucket."
Gobber and the group look at Hiccup like he grew a second head.
Gobber tells the class "behind these doors we have the Deadly Nadder, Hideous Zippleback, Monstrous nightmare, Terrible terror, and the Gronckle."
Snotlout gaped "aren't you going to teach us first?"
Gobber replies "I believe learning on the job. Today is about survival. If you get blasted your dead. What's the first thing your going to need?"
Hiccup replies "a doctor."
Astrid comments "a shield."
Gobber replies "correct."
Ruffnut and Tuffnut fight over a shield.
The Gronckle blast the shield knocking them.
Gobber comments "Ruffnut, Tuffnut, your out."
The Gronckle caught the sent of a Night Fury and followed it to Hiccup and stared at him wondering why this boy would have the scent of a Night Fury on him for.
Astrid charge at the distracted Gronckle.
The Gronckle turned to Astrid and prepared to blast her.
Hiccup pushed the Gronckle causing the shot to hit the wall.
The Gronckle looks at Hiccup and then at Astrid and realized their mates.
Fishlegs got his shield destroyed by the Gronckle.
Snotlout tried to flirt with Astrid before having his shield blasted.
The Gronckle flew to Hiccup and stood in front of him curious about the boy.
He looked in his eyes to see he isn't treated like part of his tribe. That he doesn't want to be apart of the tribe anymore like his loyalty shifted and realized he would be an asset to dragons.
Astrid charge again at the Gronckle causing the Gronckle to blast her shield.
The Gronckle flew back to it's cage not even going to fire at Hiccup leaving him puzzled about the dragons.
Gobber looks at Hiccup with everyone else.
Hiccup picks up his father's axe and notice everyone looking at him and grumbles "will you all stop starring at me like that?!"
Gobber tells the group "that's it for today and a dragon will always go for the kill looking at Hiccup."
Everyone leaves except Astrid and Hiccup.
Astrid walks over to him and scowls "I don't know what happened to you but you were almost dragon and if you don't wake up and start fighting, then you will only prove to be lousy husband!"
She leaves the arena leaving Hiccup standing there.
Hiccup grumbles "I don't even know why my father would pick you as my wife because have no compassion towards people."
Astrid heard it but ignored him, too frustrated to stand near him.
She walks towards her training area in the forest when Ruffnut joined her.
Ruffnut ask "is it true that you and Hiccup are engaged and get married in three days?"
Astrid grumbles "yes."
Ruffnut sighs "he is so lame, that would be a good reason to divorce him."
Astrid sighs "yeah, he would only irritate me everyday being married to him."
Ruffnut smirks "yeah and since he's useless as a husband, he would be useless in bed, even though you would have to give him a heir to Berk.
Astrid sighs "I'm not going to divorce him no matter how much I rather marry someone else better than Hiccup the useless, his father provided my parents with financial gain" and they laugh.
Unknown to them Hiccup was hiding behind a tree listen to their conversation since he was on his way to see the Night Fury.
He leaves the scene and continues towards the secret Cove and looks down inside wondering where the Night Fury is before seeing it try to fly out of the Cove, but crash to the ground.
The Night Fury walks over to the lake and tries to fish for fish, but no luck.
Hiccup draws the Night Fury in his sketch book and accidentally drop his pencil into the Cove.
The Night Fury huffs at him but notice his facial expression says he was hurt by something and moves his head in a come down here motion.
Hiccup walks through an opening in the rocks to visit the Night Fury "I'm sorry if I disturbed you, but you seem like you could use a friend and I could desperately use a friend as well."
