This chapter took way longer than I thought it would. Honestly I'm not sure where this one is headed as it has elements from quite a few different genres. Anyway this is why I haven't been updating my other story. As usual I don't own anything since it belongs to uncle Rick. Enjoy and please leave a review.
Chapter 1
Third person POV :
Percy and Tyson were fighting their fathers bane together. Polybotes, the forty-foot tall giant, was glaring menacingly at the pair thirty feet away from them.
Polybotes' green-scaled dragon legs were tense and ready to defend himself where he may need to. His war armour contoured his abdomen and left his arms free, shining with an emerald glint that incased his muscled upper body in just enough to keep him alive during this fight. In his dreadlocks were the hissing basilisks he was using to keep his opponents off guard. A dark green poisonous aura was being emitted from his eyes during the temporary standstill.
Percy and Tyson stood Side by side as they caught their breath after dealing with twenty basilisks. Tyson in his general of Olympus armour with his club raised and Percy in his own armour with riptide at the ready.
Tyson was the first to act, as he growled at the giant and shot forward. His blessed club came roaring right behind him, with enough force to collapse a building, aimed at the giants liver. Polybotes blocked the swing but stumbled back at the force behind it. That left him unprepared for the follow up swing from Percy that cut into his shoulder. The giant cursed but even in his weakened state he was capable of shoving them away with his immortal aura. The wave of power forcing the brothers backwards and the grass around him to turn yellow and then brown.
The brothers landed on their feet and went straight back in, trying to whittle him down until posiedon could make his way there. Percy jumped into the air and got Tyson to throw him at polybotes, aiming to get a kick into the giants gut that would take him into the air. Polybotes gripped his shoulder in pain only to see Percy flying towards him with both legs out. When Percy landed he let go of his earthquake power and sent a vibration into polybotes stomach that launched him in the air. Before the giant could land he met Tysons fist that sent him eighty feet backwards and into the ground, killing the monsters underneath him. Polybotes got up and roared at the brothers in fury. He was a giant and these lowly mortals would pay for their disrespect. Rising to a knee the giant bided his time, healing his bleeding shoulder and three cracked ribs from that kick.
Percy and Tyson ran side by side towards their enemy, not wanting to let the advantage slip. Percy summoned a water spear and hurled it towards Polybotes chest while his brother took a swing at the giants left knee.
Dodging the spear, the giant was able to block Tysons swing and simultaneously convert the water into poison before throwing it back at Percy forcing him to dodge. With Percy momentarily out of the way, he focused on Tyson. Dodging the cyclops next swing, Polybotes landed a hit on Tysons arm with his trident that cut deeply into the cyclops bicep and made his arm go numb. Polybotes now stood fully healed in front of Tyson, ready to send the monster back to tartarus.
Raising his symbol of power above his head, the giant took a swing for Tysons head and probably would've succeeded in sending him to tartarus if it weren't for the overwhelming pain that he felt from his wrist. The world around him darkened momentarily, before a wave of pain and cold erupted from the giants wrist. In his shock he didn't notice the watery fist that shot from his left either and it sent him tumbling over back towards the face of the mountain he was trying to destroy. It should have meant that he won and that they would win, except now he found him self cornered in a situation he'd never found himself in before.
Percy stood in front of his baby brother with a storm in his eyes as he stared down his father's bane. His seagreen eyes flashed with a blue light as his power escaped him. Even if it was a bluff Percy would defend his brother until his last breath and he made sure the giant knew it. As the giant had moved to strike Tyson, Percy had reacted in a panic and thrown his sword towards polybotes trident. Percy would have never forgiven himself if Tyson died on his shoulder and rationality went out the window. The only thing he could focus on in that moment had been to keep the list of names he would regret as short as possible.
Noticing that his sword would not save his brother if it only hit the trident Percy reached into himself and forced his will and power into the air around him and most importantly riptide. Percy rapidly shifted the water particles in the air and forced the sword onto a new path to remove the scaled hand of polybotes. When the godly metal sliced through, it shocked not only the giant when his trident suddenly flew forward instead of into the cyclops face but it shocked the fates too. Distantly they felt the backlash of fate being changed.
Percy however was unaware of his deed and only focused on sending a fist of hardened water to get the giant away from his brother before moving to stand in front of him while he caught his breath. Unbeknownst to him, glowing in a soft light and for the fisrts time releasing his aura.
In his bronze camp halfblood armour with all its scrapes, and steam coming from his tanned skin before he lost the blue aura around him Percy still looked like a Greek prince. The power he was using was costing him, but his loyalty to his family kept pushing him to new strengths. Once the glow left him and Percy's brain started functioning again he slumped back down, his breathing slowing down and becoming hard. He'd just used all the power left in his mortal body and though the godly part had some left he was hanging by a thread at the moment.
Barely breathing and half dead, it probably could've made an exciting grudge match for him to slug it out with the giant missing its left hand and standing with his back towards a solid wall of rock at the bottom of the original mount Olympus. However that wouldn't happen because he'd never been so tired in his life. Nevertheless he glared at the giant bane of his father.
"stay away from my brother." percy growled out. Not caring in the slightest that even a strong gust of wind would put up more of a fight than him right now. He would stay firm and give his life for his brother.
Suddenly the entire area around them was bombarded with the energy of an enraged member of the big three when posiedon appeared with them, an aura of the ocean flowing into the air and healing his children. Posiedon glared at his rival and the air around the god became humid with a golden glow from his body. His ichor barely restraining itself from his true form to annihilate his enemy.
"and stay away from my sons." boomed the angry immortal. This filth would pay for attacking his children if it was the last thing posiedon ever did. Bringing his own trident forth, the god found it joined by a bronze sword and a blessed club. With the mortals healed by posiedon and their prey stuck between a rock and a hard place, literally, they marched forward towards their giant adversary.
That battle, among many others, was floating inside the mind of the hero of Olympus. They'd won the war, but not without loss. You never leave a war without losses. Percy stood motionless in the throne room of the gods, his fellow prophesy members beside him plus nico, Reyna and Tyson. They had finally won and yet he felt hollow.
Throughout the reward ceremony he stared vacantly over the hearth of Olympus. Taking comfort in its soothing nature, trying to forget all the horrors he'd seen down in tartarus along with what he'd seen. A vision sent to him from a primordial deity left him questioning everything in his life once more.
"Perseus Jackson! My son, we have deemed you worthy of this gift once more and would like to extend the offer of becoming a god. An Olympian as well, we recognize your sacrifices and wish to see you rewarded accordingly. Is there any among us who would challenge me on this matter?" boomed posiedons voice from his throne, an open threat leveled to anyone that would disagree with him. Never before had the sea God been this proud of his son and he was cherishing each moment of it.
Percy broke his train of thought as he smiled softly towards his father. They were each given minor godhood to serve as essentially the junior council. Their domains would be the two camps and they would be able to lead future generations of demigods. Annabeth got architecture, Leo got fire, piper and Jason got charmspeak and storms respectively, Frank and hazel were relieved of their curses and given the domains of shape-shifting and treasures, nico was appointed to the position of ghost king with dominion over darkness, Reyna became the immortal leader of new Rome and got the domain of weaponry, Tyson also joined the immortal ranks as the minor god of forging and was given a human form as well.
Then their was Percy. Everyone recognized that he'd gone above and beyond, over everyone's expectations of him. He was offered a chance to stand among the gods for the second time and yet no one was surprised when he turned it down. He took minor godhood and dominion over leadership, strength and the deep sea so that he wouldn't leave his friends behind. Instead of joining the Olympians he asked for hades and hestia to reclaim their thrones on the council. He also asked for a private meeting with the fates which got him a few curious stares but since this was Percy Jackson it fell into one of the many wierd things he'd done in his life.
The two camps received a gateway to connect them in case of future need and with the addition of the new minor gods things were looking better than they had in a long while.
The ceremony ended soon after and the real party began. Drinks and food appeared around them and even dionysus was allowed to get drunk that night. The party raged on for hours as everyone lost themselves in the moment. Joy and love skyrocketed through the roof with the war over and the overwhelming feeling of peace was welcomed by all.
Percy had been standing on one of the balconies that looked over the side of Olympus, marveling in the beauty of the greek city lit up by flames and a starry night sky. Seemingly at random three new presences found their way to that balcony as well. The moirai were waiting for him to turn around but Percy simply stared onwards.
"we understand your frustration, hero, but lose not sight of why you risked it all." came clothos wise advice. Standing beside her two sisters in identical garb, she stared out over the balcony with the son of posiedon.
"for what it's worth we are sorry for what is to come. We will make sure you are remembered in only the fondest of lights." spoke lachesis. None of them could have foreseen the events unfolding before them, but they could help the boys family at the very least.
As the statement went through his mind he couldn't hold back the tears any longer. All of that fighting for his home and to make the world a safer place seemed so far away from him, constantly out of reach in his fractured mind. He was losing everything he had after only just being able to appreciate it for the first time. Now he would never know where this life could've taken him.
Atropos, the fate with whom Percy felt he had the closest relationship, placed an aged hand on his shoulder. Even she could see the anguish being radiated by the son of posiedon and it brought tears to her eyes. "It is time, Percy. I'm sorry for everything you're about to go through and I hope you know we'll always be with you, at least in here." she claimed, placing her hand over his heart before moving back to her sisters side.
As one, the fates glowed a rainbow of colours. Each of them de-aged to around 25 years of age, the height of their physical power and the form that enhanced their domains the most. Their eyes began to glow with a green light as they raised their right arms towards him and he lost his emotions once again. He was really going to be sent away, leaving behind everyone he ever cared about. Eventually he composed himself, deciding to at least move forward with his head up.
The fates collected their power into their outstretched palms where it crackled and spun around in a concentrated ball of green and yellow power. The three individual spheres floated above his and then murged together, becoming a much larger sphere at first before it compressed back into the size of a gumball. The ball was completely blue and almost felt like it had its own gravitational pull because it was so powerful.
The ball slammed down into Percy's forehead and almost knocked him off his feet, the pain that followed it was excruciating and made him scream to the stars until his voice broke. Then it started. First his hands turned to dust and then his legs followed suit. As the last bits of him flew off into the wind he let out one more tear filled with all the pain in his body as well as his heart. When the last strand of hair finally departed on the winds Atropos reverted back to her elderly form and flashed out, not willing to be their any longer and only wanting to change his fate but she knew it wasn't her choice to do so. Percy Jackson was gone and the fates had no idea what to do about it.
Percy's POV:
I thought I would end up in the underworld, or even simply cease to exist... but it was way worse.
I woke up staring at the ceiling above my bed in my old apartment. The moldy corners and suffocating stench of gabes beer cans greeting me like a slap in the face. A rather hard slap for what it's worth.
At first I laid in my bed contemplating why I was still alive, before realization struck me. Paul never drank beer and we'd moved out of this apartment already, so why was I still here.
The answer to my question came sooner than I expected when a letter came floating down towards my nightstand.
Apparently it came from the fates, atropos last words to me being the only contents.
~We'll always be with you, at least in here.~
After I'd read it, the letter started to disintegrate, slowly leaving me as well. I was about to get out of bed when my door opened. It was my mother, the hero of my life, standing with a bag in her hands. A bag that looked oddly familiar...
Oh no
I rember now. That was the bag of sweets she'd brought to my room on my tenth birthday. First the beer and now this bag, it just proved everything to me. If I was right then I'd been placed back into my ten year old self, and I would have to go through all of that again.
If my mother noticed my panic attack she said nothing. "happy birthday, honey, finally into the double digits now hey. I got these for you yesterday and when I get back from work we can go to Montauk alright? Now be good and pack your bags while I'm gone. If you want to go to the park just let Mrs Jones down the hall know before you leave. I'll see you later." she said after showing me the bag full of blue sweets. When she finally left the apartment after showering me in kisses I felt my heart drop.
We were still with Gabe. The first monster I'd come across in my life and arguably the one I hated most. His passed out form was still in that chair next to the table he plays poker on.
The first time I'd gone through this I didn't know what I could do... but now things could be different. Right then I decided that I would make the best of my second chance and things would be better than last time.
I got out of bed to go shower and I finally felt the change to my body. Ten year old me was quite a runt. After my shower I got dressed into some jeans, a pair of white and blue running shoes, a blue shirt and finally a plain turquoise hoody.
I made my way into the living room and snuck past Gabe. When I got out the front door it was just a quick trip to our neighbors to let them know I was leaving and I was free.
I walked the streets of New York surprisingly calm. My scent would be covered and with all the knowledge I had I was pretty sure I would be fine.
As I made my way down the street towards Central Park I kept thinking over what happened to get me here. When Annabeth was about to fall I had dived to catch her, desperately trying to get a hold of her. I managed to grab her wrist, lean over to cut the web and pull her back over the edge but in doing so I took her place. I was falling into tartarus and there was no one else but me.
Being down there... It changed me, more than any of my adventures since I became a demigod. I want to say that I held strong and that it wasn't really that bad but then I'd just be lying. It stripped my mind down to where nothing but my fatal flaw kept me going. My loyalty to the gods. To the seven. To camp half-blood and camp jupiter and most importantly to my mother.
I'd seen bad things... and done even worse, all to get back here. To shove it to queen dirt face. When the final battle came, and the giants had been dealt with, it was just me and her. My new weapons and my years of experience barely kept me alive.
Every thought somehow related to either my death or hers.
Slash.
Roll.
Duck.
Repeat.
After an hour fighting we were still going at it. Not a single opening could be found in either one of us, because that right there was the endgame. I don't really know what that is but the author felt like putting it in and they run this whole thing.
Eventually I managed to separate her conscious body from the earth by trapping both of us in a sphere of ice held in the eye of a hurricane. Once we were high enough and she had finished her typical evil speech I screamed to kingdom come. I called on the same power as mount st. Helen's and every shred of power in my body to tear her apart. The explosion did its job on her but on me too. Luckily it pushed me back straight over the camp and into the ocean allowing me to heal.
With the battle won our cheers could reach the Olympus back in the ancient lands. After we rejoiced we sombred up and collected all the bodies for their final rights.
I was knocked out for the next week and after landing in the sea my father directed the currents to take me to Atlantis. I was placed in an infirmary where the best healers in the atlantean army tried to stabilize me.
Twelve hours after I arrived the royal healer declared me stable and in a coma. He said it would be a week or so before I woke up and more than a month before I was back to normal.
In that month they had the funeral for everyone we lost. The gods decided to wait for me to wake up before they held the reward ceremony.
During the ceremony I held my head high as the seven got their gifts and I accepted godhood under the secret order of the fates. They had sent me a dream while I was in tartarus. The only dream I'd had down there. They told me that I would need it for where I was going.
Obviously I was frightened because they didn't think I needed godhood for tartarus but I would need it for whatever came after it. Typical. When they came to speak to me I was wondering what would happen but I never expected this.
Now I'm just a ten year old demigod and I have to do it all again, better this time. I feel like I should get some instructions though because even if I'm technically like seven years older that doesn't mean I could make up plans like a child of Athena.
Breaking out of my trance I found myself at the entrance to Central Park. I made my way inside past where hyperion would eventually become a tree and towards a section covered by the mist. When I had seen grover before the final battle he explained to me that it was where the hunters camped whenever they were in New York but not in camp.
A large clearing about the size of half a football field was surrounded by trees and other shrubbery, a large pond lay in the north eastern corner with a few boulders dotted here and there. It was quite secure so I didn't feel the need to check around before I dived into the pond.
I swam to the silty bottom and lay there for half an hour before I was interrupted by the naiad of the pond.
" Who are you? And why are you here? If you've come to pollute my pond then I'll have to fight you." said a tiny voice. I sat up to see a young naiad, probably around 10 years old, staring at me with her little fists balled up at her sides. We may be technically the same age but I still looked at her like an adult would look towards a child.
" Do not worry, young one, I mean you no harm. I came to rest before I decided my next move. If I promise to not pollute your pond may I stay for a bit?"
She looked down at my seated position cautiously before nodding her head. She was about to turn around when I called to her again." I didn't catch your name."
" It's Margo, and yours? "
" Percy, I-"
I didn't get to finish before she darted off, kicking up silt and obscuring my vision. I was going to ask for her help but I guess she's just shy.
I admired the bottom of the pond with its clear water and plant life before making my way back to the surface. Coming out of the water dry seemed to freak out none of the mortals that were standing around the pond and I found it in me to silently thank hecate for the mist. I made my way back to the path and began to walk around the park for the next hour, admiring more of the scenery while my mind came to grips with everything that this meant for me. I know I know, "seaweed brain" can think rationaly? It's shocking but you kind of pick some things up when you date the smartest girl in camp.
Perhaps it was being turned into a God that made me think more critically. Anyway. The point was that I tried to process it and I kind of acceped it until I decided what to do. Now that I was in the past I could save everyone that died in both wars. On the other hand I would have to go through both wars again and most likely this would be my last shot as I couldn't believe the fates would grant me a third. The old hags never did like me.
I sat down on a bench and just enjoyed the view for a while. If I was going to change the outcome of these wars I would need to start immediately. Only I had absolutely no idea how to do that. As I sat there thinking about it a brown door suddenly flashed in front of me. It was completely plain and only the imperial gold handle stood out which immediately put me on guard. At this point in time the Roman's would kill any Greek they found and it would surely mean another unnecessary war. Although considering that it appeares out of nowhere and none of the mortals around me were paying it any heed meant that it was most likely a God. With all the experience I have with them I knew that saying no to them wouldn't end well, especially when I didnt know my own limits yet. I was made a God before I came back but now I am in the body of a demigod. Until I wasn't going to be a speck of dust to them I would simply comply. It was the smart thing to do.
I opened the door and walked straight into a throne room that I didn't recognize. That was until I saw hecate on her throne glaring daggers into me. For some reason she looked pissed off and I felt my skin start to crawl already. Everything else became irrelevant as I took a knee and studied the marble floor like a hunter of Artemis studies their bow. I waited for her to speak since she did envite me.
" Who are you and what have you done to this child." she demanded scaring me half to death.
I felt the sweat on my forehead as I thought of a way out of this. I guess the truth is always the best, right?
" Lady hecate. I swear on the Styx that everything I'm about to tell you is true and that I will in no way try to lie to you. My name is Perseus Jackson and I have been sent back in time." I let out quickly. Luckily the gods were easy to deal with when you actually get to know them. Most of them can be convinced with a simple swear on the Styx and it makes sure they don't overreact to anything.
She seemed to be lost for a couple seconds before finally speaking again. " Okay, that is nowhere near what I expected. I feel that you already know who I am then. Very well, give me the rundown while I process this."
So I did. I told her the basics of what I thought had happened and what happened over the next few years. The two wars, my quests and what my current plan was to make sure that we didn't have to lose anyone we loved. I ended up spending the next few hours explaining to her as much about my version of her present. It went a bit rough at first when she found out that she initially betrayed us to Kronos. I knew that it would be touchy and that she might just follow along for those same reasons but I explained to her that we could still make a difference. In return she told me that we would be meeting again tomorrow to speak about our master plan. Right now though I had to get home. Hecate flashed me in front of my apartment door and I quietly snuck back in. No need to get that walrus on my case for no reason. Even if I knew I could kill him. I took a shower before hopping into bed for the night. Maybe this time would be better after all.
I woke up the next day to find something weirder than I could've possibly expected. An iris message sprayed across from my bed band it's occupants were none other than the granny's of death, AKA the fates.
" Good morning, perseus. I hope you slept well. We have quite the day ahead of us. You see now that our future selves have set this in motion we have no choice but to comply with them. Their knowledge is greater than our own. I believe it is time you got that explanation you've been waiting for." said clotho.
You think? These old hags would be the death of me! The least they could've done before they sent me back was tell me what I was supposed to do. Of course I was a lot more polite when I actually replied to them.
" good morning, maladies. I trust you have a plan then? Because I have no idea what's going on right now. How did hecate even know she needed to find me? Why am I ten years old again?" I babbled. I guess my nervous tendencies stuck through this whole ordeal.
" Patience child. All will be revealed in time. Although, the answer to your second question is that apparently you needed more time. Our future selves left us with a note not dissimilar from the one you received when you woke up yesterday. It explained the plan they had and a few instructions as well. We'll get to the first answer this afternoon when we take you to hecates palace." clotho replied.
The rest of the morning went as well as I could have imagined. I got dressed into a pair of black running shoes, grey joggers, a white tank top and an orange and black hoody. I went through my morning routine of trying to tame my ten year old hair, washing my face and brushing my teeth. It was a lot easier this time around since I knew I could control water. I was shocked, however, to find that my power over my element was dramatically weakened! I felt like a new demigod again when I was twelve years old. I might have been ten this time but still... I thought it would a bit easier considering I'd lived through all of this. Guess I'd just have to tough it out until I could get back to my former glory.
In the mean time I made my way through the apartment and made some cereal before I snuck out for the day. I never would have done this when I was younger but I realized that it would be quite easy to escape from gabes clutches this time around.
I made my way down the fire escape before going back into the lobby where the fates were waiting for me. Clotho decided she had had enough of the time wasting and immediately flashed us to our destination. Hecates palace. The dark purple landscape around the lone palace was strewn with similarly dark red, black and grey boulders. Not to mention the nightmarish fog that distorted the glooming trees above.
Simply put it was creepy. The crazy grandmother's didn't seem to care as they simply walked forward towards the palace. Getting inside I found that the palace matched the throne room I was first in. Black marble tiles, swirling purple walls that sometimes had words on them and the ever present torches that burned Greek fire into the open air. Wherever this place was it must not rain to often or it has similar protections to camp half-blood.
We made our way to the throne room where hecate had laid out a deep mahogany table with silver cutlery and plates that were probably worth more than my apartment. We sat down and began to discuss everything we had so far.
The fates explained to me how my goal for this timeline was to prevent the losses we suffered and to help them set the course of fate onto a better path. I already knew I was ecstatic to save my friends but I don't know how I feel about them not knowing me or what I've been through. It would be like looking at ghosts every day. I wouldn't have to worry about it for two years at least but my twelfth birthday was probably going to be the day that I was going to introduce myself to the Greek world officially. Until then I needed to train first and worry about preparing myself for every scenario.
Which is why we ended up here in hecates palace. She told me that her palace was interwoven with millions of runes from over the years and that this dimensional pocket was at twice the speed of the rest of the world. For every two hours that passed in here it would only be an hour outside. Our plan was to use the mist and create a duplicate of me to go to school and handle other menial activities while I prepared for the war.
"We understand your struggles, hero, but we are here with you. Our plan will succeed and with you as our instrument of change... we have much to look forward to." said clotho.
The next order of business was to make me the champion of hecate. She started chanting in a language that Im pretty sure was older than olympus itself before a bright purple flash came out of her open hands and surrounded me in her magic.
I bless thee, Perseus Jackson, with the secrets of our world. Accept your role as my champion and go forth, may you bring glory unto our name.
When her chant was finished I felt way stronger but at the same time I nearly collapsed from the sudden exhaustion. My vision swam for a few seconds and once it cleared we were standing in an arena outside. Black marble pillars and more nightmarish trees surrounded the training area.
I slowly got up from the sand pit and turned towards my resident granny's. They stood between two pillars at the edge of the arena on the black ring. The whole arena was about one hundred feet in diameter so it seemed like a fair bit of space for a goddess that didn't have much physical fighting prowess.
Hecate stood next to them still a bit weary from the power loss. She was the first to speak once her titan aura stopped fluctuating. " I know you're thinking why would I have such a large training ground when I have zero interest in fighting? The truth is I don't. This room is simply a mana projection that I've imbued into the frame of this ring. The runes took hundreds of years alone for me to be satisfied with it. Here is where you are going to train in your original powers and also where you are going to learn magic."
I was pretty calm throughout her speech until she said that last part. I knew I would be training to get back in shape but I've never had any experience with magic outside of circe and a few other cases. Even then I wasn't the one actually performing any of the magic. I voiced my opinion and it was apparently the fates turn to lecture me.
"We need you to be in the best position possible for the next two wars. We might know majority of the timeline but the more changes you make the harder it becomes to achieve our goal. That being said, your status as the champion of hecates was needed. How else would we explain the residual powers you kept from becoming a god. Your soul remained immortal and the closest we could get to an explanation was for you to become the champion of a god. The powers you kept include kings speak, super strength and control over the deep sea as well as your birth right to the powers of a child of posiedon. Hecates will explain the intricacies of being her champion over the next year and you will train in both magic and your own powers to be ready once we get to Yancy academy. There are a few surprises but we'll see how you deal with this first." said Atropos.
I was about to ask what she meant when I was blindsided by a glowing purple orb that slammed into my chest. The blast knocked me off my feet and towards the edge of the ring. I got up shakily and found that my shirt had a new hole in it and my chest was slightly red. I looked up at hecate trying to see what this was about and she stood in the centre of the arena in a set of Armour I'd never seen before. The chest piece was made up of black leather and celestial bronze supports while the vembraces and shoulder pauldrons were completely made of a sort of see through construct that glowed faintly purple.. It must have been a mana projection all things considered. The glow from the arm pieces was transfered onto the white cloak she wore underneath, made of enchanted cloth and with enough runes to make my head spin. Some were bigger than others but the sheer amount of them caught me off guard.
"You ought to be careful in this ring perseus, I will not baby you like chiron does. Under my tutelage you will grow exponentially but everything must come at a price." she explained.
I fell into my usual combat stance only to remember that this body wouldn't be capable of the same things before adjusting my feet and dropping lower to the ground." Let's get this over with, Hecate "
Without a sword on me I was forced to dodge her next few attacks while I came up with a plan. She sent two more glowing orbs at my body that I ducked under before trying to close the distance between us. With three large steps I stood in front of her with my arms raised towards her face. Gathering the little control I had over earthquakes and seismic waves I feinted going for her head and quickly changed the trajectory of the Shockwave I was trying to produce. It honestly came out as a pathetic excuse for a seismic wave but it was enough to send the sand of the arena into the air and give me some cover while I figured out what to do next.
Seeing as I had pretty much nothing else going for me I tried calling on the power of Hecate. I felt the pull in my gut as usual but unlike my powers from posiedon this felt more chaotic to me. Mana seemed to flow from my gut into the tips of my fingers with a light blue and sea green glow to them. I let the mana build up to the point where it hurt before moving through the cloud of dust and punching my fists in Hecates general direction. What I wasn't expecting was for a blast of similarly glowing mana to leave my body and strike her in the chest, charing her armour in the process. I was so excited about actually hitting her that I didn't notice the absolute exhaustion in my ten year old limbs or the passive look on Hecates face even after a direct attack.
Hecate rose up a bit higher on a floating projection before sending several fireballs at me. I tried my best to evade them but after all the powers I've been using I slipped up. One fireball caught me in the shoulder and other in the left ankle. I fell to the ground in exhaustion and waited for hecate to say something about how I performed.
"I'll admit, perseus, you are talented. A well seasoned warrior no doubt but that won't be enough to accomplish the goals we have this time around. We need you to be the best you possibly can. Over the next six months we are going to work on your physical endurance as well as building up your magical stamina. Once I am satisfied we will start preparing for the upcoming war. Go get some rest for now my champion."
With that being said she teleported me to a room in her palace. It was pretty spacious but that wasn't really important to me at the time. The first thing I did was look for a bed and after I found it in the back corner of the room I immediately jumped into it before blacking out. I guess this was my new life now. I wonder where it will take me.
