In A World Of My Own – Chapter 1 – Slightly Mad
Lima Ohio. It was a quiet little town. Not famous or known for much just quiet. Everybody knew everything about everyone. That was just the way it worked. Schools were dull, college was dull. And unless you had perfect grades then jobs were dull too. It was just plain.
If you were different or stood out of the crowd, you were bullied and picked on. That just the way it was. Burt Hummel was a fairly poor man; he lived on a local small farm yard with his 22 year old son Kurt Hummel. It had been just them two ever since Kurt's mother died when Kurt was just 8 years old due to cancer.
Burt did his best to provide for Kurt after that. But Kurt was not like other boys, it made things a little harder for Burt to understand. Needless to say Burt didn't love him any less.
You see Kurt was different for a couple of reasons. One; he was gay. To everybody in Lima, that seemed a bad thing, a sin if you will. Two: he dressed different, because Burt did not have a lot of money Kurt usually made his clothes off things he could find in the farm or bought things that was on sell. His favorite outfit to wear was his blue dungarees, a white t-shirt and his white boots. The most expensive piece of clothes Kurt had was a blue demi jacket that use to be his mother's; whenever there was a cold day Kurt would wear it.
The third and final reason Kurt was different was because of how he sore the world. Kurt always used his imagination and wonder to see his best in the world, and find adventure in joy in each day. He loved animals and fairytale stories of heroes and villains, which made most people dislike him, tease him, and think he was stupid.
Kurt got bullied a lot when it came to school. After that his dad become his teacher and home college him. Burt wished things were different but people wear just cruel. Lucky Kurt didn't care and still chose to be himself no matter what others thought.
Present Day – Tuesday 27th April 27, 2021 – 1:30pm in the afternoon
It was a lovely sunny day. Burt decided to do class out on the beach in the outside garden. Kurt was sitting on the rope swing with his eyes in what secretly was a fairy tale book, while Burt was explaining about geography and climate change.
Burt looked at Kurt who was not paying attention at all and huffed "Kurt are you even listening to me?!" he said.
Kurt looked up giggling a little "What?"
Burt sighed "What is the point of me sitting here trying to help you if you're not going to ever try and listen?" he explained.
Kurt looked at him sighing back "I'm sorry dad but you know this stuff boars me, can't we just take a break?" he asked nicely.
Burt looked at him closely "Where you even reading the text book?"
Kurt gulped looking at him "O…Of course"
Burt smirked "What page are we on then?"
Kurt tried his best to look confident. "Umm…Page…..7?" he smiled.
Burt looked at his disappointed "Give me the fairy tale book"
Kurt looked at him placidly "But dad…"
"But nothing" Burt replied "You should have been reading"
"I kind of was…." Kurt smiled a little, which just mad Burt even worse.
"Book Kurt. Now"
Kurt sighed a little handing over the book to his dad.
"Good" Burt said "Now I want you to sit out here and read still chapter 16 of this book then can have this back" he said.
Kurt looked at him in shocked "But that's going to take all day!"
"Well you better start now" Burt said going inside preparing dinner.
Kurt sighed hopelessly, throwing himself back into the rope swing starting to read the book. This was so boring. Why couldn't his dad understand!
As time went on, it was now 6pm at night and Kurt had made it to chapter 10, he had to swing on the swing to stop himself from falling asleep he was so board.
Kurt just then his eye caught something running in the garden. It looked like a girl his age wearing rabbit ears and a tail. Her hair was up in a blond ponytail; and she was wearing a pink waist coat with a large red pocket watch.
Her shirt was rainbow and her shoes were a shiny pink. She looked happy but like she was in a rush to get back from where she came.
As Kurt watched he more, he sore that her skirt got caught on one of the small bushes. He didn't want to be rude she he quickly ran towards her trying to help.
The rabbit woman started to panic pulling hard at her skirt ribbing it a little to get free and started running again into the large filed next door.
Nobody ever went into that filed. It had a creepy abandoned house in and the stories that most people told said that the people that lived in it died a terrible death years ago.
But Kurt had to help the rabbit girl. What if she was hurt?!
"Please wait!" He shouted jumping across the fence "I can help you!"
But by the time he got to the place she was near, all he could see was her was her back half falling down a big garden hole.
"NO!" he yelled running over quickly.
He looked in the hole. It was very, very deep. He couldn't see a thing.
He got on his knees and got his phone out of his pocket to turn his torch on to try and see more, when he foot slipped and all of a sudden he fall forward. Into the black hole.
He screamed falling down fast. He couldn't see anything. He cheek and arms were hitting the sides leaving marks and bruises, cuts and scars.
Until finally he reached a stop. Where he was knocked out cold with a small bump to the head.
He had no idea where he had just landed….
