Do you think a life can change?... OH HERO MINE!!!?
Several miles from a village, Mistral, March 21, 0015 BTF (Before the Fall), 1pm
Shiro Emiya woke up to a dark abyss. It wasn't the higher Grails immaterial realm. This was different then the other times he was sent to odd worlds to be a hero to the people of whatever world the Grail sent him to, as per his wish which was sadly too vague. He tried to move a finger, a bone, anything to regain some form of normalcy.
Yet he couldn't feel anything. As if floating on a bed of air. But then a door opened into some room. The light was blinding at first but his sight adjusted to it. Watching from within some liquid, a man who was hard to see picked up some form of container, a jar from the looks of it. He felt himself being carried along with this imprisonment,
Things changed rather quickly as the footsteps echoed in his ears. The white coat that was pressed against the jar was familiar to him couldn't put his finger on it. It was clear enough that he was possibly in some medical facility. But for what purpose he couldn't know at all. Why would the Grail show him this? He never had visions like this when it ripped him from other worlds.
There was a sticker or some form of a label on the jar, but he couldn't read it. As if the grail itself has forbidden him from reading its contents, It was jarring to be sure. It didn't help that everything was blurry as hell, the ringing of distant phones and constant noise didn't help either.
Something was off...it felt as if his heart tightened with anxiety. It was beating faster than normal as well, as if he were scared. Like he was afraid of taking Sakura's life, kind of anxiety. But then a blue object came into view. It was probably a door given that it moved to reveal another blurry room. The man holding the jar he was in popped the cork at the top, and poured the liquid, and himself, into something. Darkness came again, but the unbearable noise of a motor came after, the air was sucked out of the jar taking Shiro along with the liquid.
The light blinded him before quickly going into another hole encased in darkness. Then there was silence, if not for a moment. The cries of a child soon came to pass, and hushed whispers were around him, taunting him even. No, not himself … but at a child. As if his tender soul could translate the incoherent message that his ears couldn't hear.
Shiros eyes filled with light but tears ran down his cheeks. Standing upright and facing towards a crib. The clipboard only had five things of note.
Weight: 4 lbs
Name: N/A
Birth certificate number: 343GS116
Birthdate: February 23, 1970
Hospital name: Gath Village Hospital
He didn't read anymore, not that you could anyway. Who could be so cruel as to not even give their child a name? Rage started to boil in his stomach. The child's birth parents' names were covered in some pen remover like white-out.
"How can something this cruel happen to a child?!" He thought.
It reminded him of Sakura, how she had quietly left out her home life and what was done to her. The passive way she was ignored despite her eyes pleaded for help. But he then stared into a crib. He couldn't see the child's face. But he cried, he did so for so long yet the staff didn't dare to see if the child was alright.
"This is unacceptable!?" He thought aloud.
His anger started to boil in his gut again. His eyes looked down to see the baby's eyelids open. Silver as the moon, brown animals ears of a lion cub adorned his head. The baby calmed down when its orbs of innocence looked at him.
As if out of some parental instinct, he hand rose. Shiros fingers clasped into a fist with your thumb on the side, yet his pinky finger stayed out. The child smiled and giggled as best it could, there were scars from some chemical along the arms soft skin. It's scars preventing the smile from being cute like a normal babe. Now the laughing child used a hand to grab his finger. For such a fragile thing its grip was strong.
But everything went black, leaving you in a space. He couldn't help but cry, having a friend in Sakura he couldn't understand how these people just didn't even care about the child he saw.
Why did the Grail show him this as his eyes went blind with a white light, and he was in another world. Odd oak trees surrounded him as he felt a dark presence near. He concentrated his mana to form his dual swords only to receive something else. An odd black and gold revolver appeared in his grasp.
Then as if on instinct his hand fanned the hammer of the weapon. Black creature's moved through the brush in front of him and all got hit by the beast and disappeared into black mist. He then made a connection as his mind clicked in thought.
"I see...a new heroic spirit must awaken his noble phantasm with this...Saber and the others are gonna kill me for holding this…" he thought as he started walking.
Soon enough his path will cross two others
Village of Gath, Mistral, 7PM
A boy sat quietly near a window on the second floor. His eyes gazed out as he saw children amongst adults happily milling about their own business. However his eyes were dull to the scene. His heart ached yet he showed no emotion that he was. Not that he could with how the Orphanage director would punish him for daring to make a peep. The bruises on his back were proof enough.
The only good thing in his life was Ninety-nine. Though as if on cue the old hunchback lizard Faunus opened the door to the bare room. He crept softly up to the boy and followed the little one's line of sight. He then placed a hand on the boys shoulder.
"Don't worry kid, you'll get adopted sooner or later." He stated trying to cheer the boy up.
The boy's ears perked up a little at that, and a small smile krept to his lips. His heart stopped aching, if not for a little. That hope...hope to finally find family was enough. To the boy, hope was a currency. Hope was what brought tomorrow and tomorrow bought the strength for today. At least in his young naive mind, thanks to Ninety-nine.
But how else could Ninety-nine keep his hopes up and to avoid the stares, the hatred behind them. All because he survived, and was a Faunus. Because some bitch didn't want him. A nasty little truth about eugenics disguised as a 'Right'.
Yet only he knew this truth and kept it to himself, no child should ever learn of its poisons. Yet it was consistently preached just to forward humanity's goal of destroying the Faunus race. He tucked the little boy into bed and closed the door behind him. Hoping that the young lad would get adopted one day.
At a Village, Mistral
Shiro walked into the down keeping his hood over his head. Trying to not catch the attention of others. Thankfully the grail gave him some of the world's currency before plopping him in this place. Only problem was that he was limited.
"Well better than the last time." He thought to himself.
He then walked into a Saloon that was bustling with life. Tables with cards or various gambling games where people made bets on one another. He then walked to the bar as the tender was drying a freshly cleaned beer mug.
"Can I help you, stranger?"
"I need a room, know any place inexpensive I can stay?"
The man looked Shiro over, as if inspecting his very being.
"My Saloon here is both a gambling ring and motel for Huntsmen who need a stay for the night. Are you a Huntsman or a bounty hunter?"
Shiro looked deep into his memory. The Grail literally being his cheat code for information he searched whatever this place was within its confines. Sadly turning up short. But decided to go with the former.
"Huntsman," he replied.
The man nods.
"Very well, there's a mission board at the entrance if you want to take one in the morning. In the meantime that be a hundred lien for the night."
Shrio nods as he tossed a few gold notes onto the counter. A set of keys was tossed back as the bartender took the lien.
"Room 117, second floor, fifth door on the right."
Shiro nodded and went upstairs to the room and get some sleep that night.
Same village, Mistral
A little girl about the age of ten was behind the motel. Sifting through trash and the like to find something to eat. Her dirty pink and brown hair stuck to her sweaty face after out running a few men. Though her ears caught wind of someone approaching. She then hid underneath the dumpster as footsteps came into view.
The whistling of a man could be heard as he was dumping more trash into the dumpster. However, more footsteps approached the lone garbage boy.
"Have you seen this girl anywhere?" Said a rough sounding voice.
"Can't say I have, why is she your daughter or something?"
"No, just a family friend's niece. Have a nice day."
That was a lie if she ever heard one. Ever since escaping that SDC mine, private security have been searching for her. However as the night fell shw curled herself into a ball to try and stay warm for the night. Her ears twitching to anything that got close.
SDC Mine #GS343, Mistrial, 9PM
Adam could barely keep his eyes open. Every time he tried the light could only blind him for a brief moment. A hand brushed through his hair gently. He could still feel the raw pain in his left eye. Je breathed a deep sigh of relief as the hand moved some of his hair and felt a kiss on his cheek.
"Please sleep my love." A sweet voice said in his ear. He didn't want to, he had to protect her…. protect his sister as well. With a deep breath he gave himself over to the land of dreams.
His sister on the other hand stood ready at the door. Just in case any humans tried to barge in and finish what they started. The door opened slowly as Eve got ready to swing the metal bar she had on hand. However as the door opened it was only her father which made her mother and herself sigh in relief.
"Any word?" Eves mother asked.
"Yes, bad news is that Mr.Schnee isn't coming to inspect this mine for another month."
"Where dead aren't we..." Eve says.
Her father places a hand on her shoulder.
"Not yet Eve. In two days some of us are gonna sprong out of here with you and your brother in tow."
"What about you daddy?"
He sighs as she sits on the only available seat in the small makeshift cabin.
"I'll be staying behind to make sure that you all escape. Once you're out head to Niger. I'll meet you there." He said.
"But papa…" Eve says slowly.
The man sees his wife sighs and looks away as he kneels to be eye level with her.
"Don't worry about me Eve, stay with your mother, keep me here and this clear, that's how you survive."
He said as he pointed to her heart and head.
"Lets get some sleep, we'll need our strength for tomorrow." He says.
She nods as she lays down next to her mother as her father sits in a chair and tries to get comfortable for tomorrow.
