Babysitter Tapper

A.N. Sunrise Tapper belongs to BigMoose01, and is being used with his permission.

One afternoon, Sunrise Tapper was in her studio wrapping up a lesson with her tap dancing class.

"Alright, that's it for today." she said. "See you all next week."

As the students left, Sunrise decided to go for a walk, so she put the "Closed" sign on her door and stepped out into the street. As she strolled along, she heard her stomach grumble.

"I guess it may not be a bad idea to get a snack." she said. "And I know just the place."

Sunrise continued on, eventually arriving at Sugarcube Corner, where she went inside and bought three white chocolate chip cookies and a vanilla milkshake. As she sat down to eat her snack, she noticed Celestia having milkshakes with a young Alicorn colt she had never seen before with a white coat and a smalt blue eyes, mane, and tail.

"Who's that little colt with Her Majesty?" Sunrise asked herself. "I should go see who it is."

Sunrise went over to Celestia and the colt's table.

"Hello, Your Majesty." Sunrise greeted with a bow. "Who's your little friend?"

"This is Prince Solar Eclipse." Celestia replied. "He's my son."

Sunrise couldn't believe what she just heard.

"You've been married this whole time?!" she gasped.

Celestia giggled.

"No, silly!" she said. "He's my adopted son."

"Oh." said Sunrise. "Sorry about that, Solar Eclipse."

"It's okay." replied Solar. "By the way, you can just call me "Solar". Everypony else does."

"Gotcha." nodded Sunrise.

Just then, Celesita thought of something.

"Sunrise, I have a favor to ask you." said Celestia. "Me and Luna are going to visit our friend Queen Novo up on Mount Aris, and we won't be back until later this evening. I was wondering if you'd be interested in looking after Solar for the time being."

"Yeah, I think I can do that." replied Sunrise. "I mean, I've never foalsat before, so this may be a new experience for me."

"Excellent." smiled Celestia. "I'll see you later this evening."

"You too." agreed Sunrise.

Later on, Sunrise took the Friendship Express to Canterlot, then a cab to Canterlot Castle. Inside, Celestia and Luna were getting ready to leave while Solar played with some of his toy trains when an Earth Pony Guard approached.

"Sunrise Tapper has arrived." he said.

"Very good." said Celestia. "Let her in."

The guard nodded and complied. Soon, Sunrise was face to face with Celestia and Luna.

"Your timing couldn't have been better." said Celestia. "There's some leftover pasta in the fridge in the royal kitchen you can heat up for dinner."

"And feel free to have some fun in my gaming room." added Luna. "Just don't erase any saved games."

"Gotcha." nodded Sunrise. "Is there anything else I should know?"

"Yes." replied Celestia. "Make sure Solar is in bed by nine-thirty. Also, he has a bath every night at eight."

"Of course." said Sunrise. "I hope you two enjoy yourselves."

"Oh, we will." said Luna.

Celestia then went over to Solar.

"Mommy and Auntie Luna are leaving now, sweetie." she said.

"Okay." said said Solor. "Bye, Mama! Bye, Auntie Luna!"

The royal sisters said good-bye to Solar and left the castle.

"So, Solar, what do you want to do?" asked Sunrise.

"Can we watch a movie?" replied Solar.

"Sure, we can watch a movie." said Sunrise. "Did you have something in mind?"

"Yup!" grinned Solar.

Solar then showed Sunrise a DVD of the Thomas & Friends feature film "Thomas And The Magic Railroad" from 2000.

"What's this?" Sunrise asked.

"Thomas And The Magic Railroad." said Solar. "It's my favorite movie of all time!"

"Oh, so that's what his name is." said Sunrise. "I've always wondered what that blue train's name was."

"You've heard of Thomas?" Solar asked.

"Oh, yeah." nodded Sunrise. "Some of my tap dancing students have little foals that like it."

"Cool!" grinned Solar.

Soon, the movie was playing, and as the credits were playing, Solar's tummy rumbled.

"Hungry?" asked Sunrise.

Solar nodded.

"What time does your mom usually feed you your dinner?" Sunrise went on.

"Between five-thirty and six." replied Solar.

Sunrise took notice of the time on the grandfather clock, which read 5:25.

"I don't think she'll mind if I fed you early." said Sunrise.

"Yeah, Mama's pretty lenient about a lot of things." agreed Solar.

With that, Sunrise went into the kitchen and warmed up the pasta. Soon, it was ready and the two ponies sat at the table to eat.

"So, Sunrise, you already know a little about me, so can you tell me about yourself?" asked Solar.

"Well, as I've already mentioned, I teach a tap dancing class in Ponyville because I love tap dancing." Sunrise explained. "I even gave a private performance here for your mom and aunt."

Solar was amazed.

"Really?" he asked.

"Yes." nodded Sunrise. "I also taught your Auntie Twilight and her friends a thing or two about tap dancing, and they enjoyed it, even Rainbow Dash."

"Wow." said Solar as he ate another forkful of spaghetti.

Just then, Sunrise had a thought.

"Hey, Solar, would you like to play outside for a little bit after dinner while the sun is still out?" she asked.

"Oh, yes!" Solar grinned.

"Thought so." Sunrise giggled.

Soon, the two were finished eating, and Solar helped Sunrise with the dishes, then they went outside to the courtyard, where Sunrise relaxed in a lawn chair while Solar played.

"Wow, this lawn chair is so comfy." Sunrise said to herself. "I could sit in this all day if I could."

Just then, Solar came over to her.

"Sunrise, I need to use the bathroom." said Solar.

"Alright." said Sunrise.

With that, Sunrise took Solar inside and into the bathroom, where Solar did his business and came outside soon afterward.

"What do you want to do now, Solar?" asked Sunrise.

It didn't take too long for Solar to think of something.

"Why don't we do some drawing?" he asked.

"Oh, yeah, we can do that." replied Sunrise.

Solar then got out some paper and a box of crayons. Once they had their materials, they began drawing, and soon finished their pictures.

"What did you draw, Sunrise?" asked Solar.

"I drew myself doing a tap dancing routine." replied Sunrise as she showed Solar her drawing. "What about you?"

Solar shows Sunrise his drawing, which was of him riding in Thomas.

"Wow, you sure do like that show." said Sunrise. "Especially the main character."

"Yeah, he's my favorite." said Solar.

"So I see." agreed Sunrise.

Just then, Sunrise noticed that the alarm clock on Solar's nightstand said 7:55.

"Looks like it's almost time for your bath." said Sunrise. "Why don't you play in here for a bit while I get your bath ready?"

Solar nodded in agreement, and Sunrise went into the bathroom and started preparing the bath. Soon, it was ready, and Solar was being scrubbed, and couldn't help but laugh when Sunrise scrubbed his hooves.

"Hold still, Solar!" Sunrise giggled.

Eventually, Sunrise managed to get Solar all scrubbed up, rinsed off, and dried.

"There." said Sunrise. "All clean and dry."

She then pulled the plug in the tub, and she and Solar spent the rest of their time together watching Thomas & Friends.

"You know, I think I'm actually starting to enjoy this show." Sunrise said to herself as she watched the show with Solar. "Maybe I should start watching it more often."

Eventually, Solar started to feel sleepy, so Sunrise turned off the TV, and Solar brushed his teeth in the bathroom, then climbed into bed.

"Nighty-night, Solar." said Sunrise as she tucked Solar in and gave him his "Little Tommy" stuffed toy.

"Nighty-night, Sunrise." yawned Solar.

Soon, Solar was fast asleep, and Sunrise decided to spend the rest of her time in the castle in Luna's gaming room, so she went into said room and began playing Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron on her (Luna's) PlayStation 3. To ensure the young colt was not disturbed, she put on Luna's gaming headset as she played whatever. It wasn't long before Celestia and Luna returned.

"We're home!" Celestia announced.

Sunrise turned off the console and went over to the Princesses.

"Welcome back." she greeted. "Did you enjoy yourselves?"

"Yes, we did." replied Luna. "How's Solar?"

"Asleep." said Sunrise. "I had a really good time with him."

"That's good." smiled Celestia. "Thanks for foalsitting him."

"Don't mention it." said Sunrise. "I feel very honored about foalsitting for the most powerful pony in all the land."

"The honor is mine." replied Celestia. "Have a safe journey back to Ponyville."

"I will." said Sunrise. "Goodnight."

"Goodnight, Sunrise." replied Luna.

With that, Sunrise walked out of the castle and caught a cab to the train station, then took the Friendship Express back to Ponyville. Once the train arrived at the Ponyville station, she got off and walked home to her studio.

"It was fun looking after and hanging out with Solar Eclipse." said Sunrise as she strolled home. "I'd love to do it again at some point."

And as Sunrise Tapper walked home, she felt very pleased and honored to have done a favor for Princess Celestia.
