~DRACO~

Draco Malfoy paced restlessly around the room of his family's summer residence, staying there for a week maybe a few days longer. The second week of summer vacation was underway, between his fourth and fifth years at Hogwarts, and he couldn't find an activity to do so he wouldn't think about what awaited him when he returned home. His father wanted him to become a full-fledged Death Eater and take on the dark mark and the dark lord supposedly had some special mission for him, the problem was he didn't want any of those things himself. In fact, he wanted everyone to leave him alone, not tell him what he was allowed or not allowed, or what an honor it was to be so close to their master. Therefore he left, not for long, but he wanted to use the time of freedom as much as he could, but even after leaving he could not think of anything else.

Sighing loudly he left the room and walked through the entire house until he reached the exit door, he threw his coat over his thin shirt, he took a quick glance at the clock and noticed that it was already fifteen past eleven, he planned to be back before midnight. He left the house and quickly closed the door behind him, the house was in the countryside on the coast so he directed his steps to the beach, the way was not longer than ten minutes. As he walked through the village he didn't see a single light on in the roadside houses, the only source of light at the moment was the brightly shining full moon high in the sky, he shuddered slightly as the cool night wind tore through his cloak and pinched the back of his neck.

When he reached the beach he sat down on the sand a few meters from the water line and for a moment, he watched the waves crashing against the shore as if in a wild dance or maybe more in an attempt to get out, he wasn't sure. He watched the moon wandering alone in the sky casting silver light on the water, he watched the light breeze moving the trees nearby. everything was so peaceful, in perfect harmony and yet so far from the ideal you could imagine. Unfortunately, the calmness of his surroundings didn't penetrate Draco himself, his thoughts were constantly racing far into the future and he wanted to be here and now, not in the uncertain, most likely turbulent future the world had in store for him.

He lay on his back and gazed up at the sky becoming a companion to the moon, just the two of them gazing at each other, finally peace would reach even his mind.

He wasn't sure how much time had passed, but he didn't care too much, after all no one was waiting for him at home, no one knew he wandered around at night and no one could reprimand him for it. Assuming by the height of the moon an hour had passed if not better, when he had quiet thoughts time passed surprisingly quickly. If he hadn't, he would have suspected himself of falling asleep, though he didn't remember closing his eyes for so long, didn't remember the moment he drifted off. He rose slowly shaking himself out of the sand and then covered himself with his cloak as tightly as he could and set off with a slow, weary step back to the house.

On the way there, he had a feeling that the wind was doing him a disservice, the tighter Draco wrapped himself in his cloak the stronger the wind tried to get under him. When he was walking along a small street, one side of which was decorated with the houses of the villagers, and on the other side, like a wall of darkness, a dense forest started, and when he looked between the trees he had the impression that there was an endless emptiness, darkness without end. He walked further along the same road, from time to time glancing at the houses, two or three times he had the impression that just when he was glancing, the curtains hanging in the windows moved and once he even had the impression that someone was standing in the window. The most probable was that he had a dream or the curtains were moved by a draught in the not the tightest windows of the old houses or maybe both. The only sounds accompanying the sound of his steady steps were his breathing and the rustling of the trees, so when he heard the crackling of branches he stopped immediately, he hoped it was just his tired mind playing tricks on him. When another crack reached his ears he turned to face the forest, despite his strenuous attempt to burn something off, staring and squinting his eyes the darkness of the forest was impenetrable. After another crack, he pulls his wand from his pocket and pulls it in front of him.

- Is someone there," he said trying not to shiver from the cold.

Unfortunately or fortunately only silence answered him and he did the most irresponsible, irrational thing he could do at that moment. In retrospect he had no idea why he did so, maybe it was a matter of fatigue or maybe something else.

- Lumos - he whispered softly and the tip of his wand glowed with a light, he moved towards the sound

When he reached the point where the trees were becoming very thick, he stopped for a few seconds, let out a breath he didn't know he was holding and headed slowly into the scrub. He hadn't gone very far when he heard a crack coming from right behind him this time, at the same moment he jumped back and turned around.

- hello, is someone there - He said trying to control the trembling of his voice which he was not sure if it was caused by the cold or the situation.

He walked on passing hundreds of identical looking trees, he stopped and turned in the direction he came from but it looked exactly the same as the one he was walking towards. All that was missing was for him to get lost now.

- What was that locator spell they were learning in third year - He thought then cursed his inattention.

The bush in front rippled and he took a step towards it, the leaves suddenly froze and something lurking behind them fled or on the contrary was preparing to jump straight at him, he scrambled his feet close to the ground moving back but his foot caught on a root of one of the trees. His body landed on the ground and his wand fell out of his hand and was now lying halfway between him and the plant with the visitor inside. After a moment of immobility he wanted to reach for the object he had dropped, but at the same time a hare jumped out of the bush in front of him, which terrorized him so much by its presence behind the plant. Draco snorted with laughter at himself, the whole show for some stupid rodent. This solved part of his problems, but there was still one problem, he had no idea where he was and how far away was his family's summer residence. Seeing no other option he started walking ahead again, the adrenaline in his blood made him aroused and he didn't feel the cold so much at the moment. He walked like this for half an hour when he reached the stream, he knew where he was, he had come to this stream many times before. Somehow he made a semicircle through the forest and going to the house from the front he found himself centrally behind it, all he had to do was to cross the stream and in a dozen meters or so the forest would end and the yard belonging to his family would begin.

Unluckily for him, it had been raining in the last days, so there was more water than usual, the stones that were usually dry were now wet and slippery. putting his feet very carefully he started to cross the stream, half way his foot went off on a slippery stone, he fell down into a deep pit in the stones. For the second time that evening he landed on his back but this time he fell not fortuitously and with a loud bang his head hit the rock with such force that his eyes went black, sliding down the slippery rocks he hit his head a few more times and when he finally stopped slipping into the cave he tried to get up, the world spun before him so much that he lay down again. What followed was a loss of consciousness, his short walk turned into an all-night escapade. Instead of returning home quickly, before midnight, he spent a few more hours in that cave as he was to find out later.
