I wrote this story fairly recently and now I decided to post it here too. It's nothing much, just a small Papyrisk one-shot that's based on a cute phone call in the piano room. :) And to avoid misunderstandings, you should know that in this story, Papyrus and Frisk are respectively 16 and 14 years old.

Frisk let out a frustrated and disappointed sigh as she went out of the secret room where was hidden the Legendary Artifact. Said artifact had been stolen by the white dog merely moments ago, before Frisk got even the chance to get a closer look and figure out what it was. Oh well. Solving the piano puzzle was still fun. The teenager looked at the piano again and smiled, before sitting at it again, replaying the soft melody, the same one played by the big statue under the rain. Despite having no piano playing skills, playing the tune wasn't that hard, now that Frisk memorized the pattern. After replaying the bit of music a few times, the teenage girl got an idea. She took her phone and dialed Papyrus' number. "I bet he'll think it's really cool. Or at least, I hope so." - she thought while waiting for Papyrus to pick up. The skeleton's voice got heard a few moments later.

"HELLO, HUMAN!" - Papyrus said cheerfully - "DO YOU NEED SOME ASSISTANCE OF THE GREAT PAPYRUS?"

Frisk let out a small giggle and said:

"No, everything's alright for now. But thanks for your kind offer. I just wanted to make you hear something."

"OH? WHAT IS IT?" - the skeleton asked eagerly.

"Just a little tune I just learned to play." - Frisk replied.

She then carefully put down the phone on her knees, then flawlessly played the tune she learned just a few minutes ago. When she was done, she picked her phone again, asking:

"What do you think?"

"ARE YOU SERENADING ME?!" - Papyrus blurted out.

Frisk blushed at this and got briefly worried of what her skeletal friend (and crush) would say next, but her lips still couldn't help but curve into a shy tiny smile.

"...Maybe?" - she said, the blush not leaving her face.

Before she could get more nervous, Frisk quickly relaxed when she heard Papyrus say in a sweet and touched tone:

"OH NO! YOU'RE MAKING ME BLUSH!"

Frisk could hear the smile in Papyrus' voice, and she was a bit relieved to know she wasn't the only blushing one. Papyrus' reaction, the fact he didn't mind she was "serenading" him, had somehow made Frisk feel really good inside. After their failed "date", the skeleton had told her to call him whenever she wanted platonically. But serenading (even though Frisk hasn't quite intended her piano playing to be seen that way) isn't exactly platonic, is it? Yet, Papyrus didn't seem to mind at all...

Then, Papyrus surprised Frisk even more, expressing a really cool idea that just popped up in his skull.

"LET'S WRITE A MUSICAL ABOUT OUR ADVENTURES!"

Frisk went speechless for a few moments. She could easily picture the duet they could pull out together, with cool battle-like dancing, a music mixed with bone sounds, and classy (yet subtly romantic) lyrics... Fearing she was in the clouds for too long, the human girl replied, still smiling:

"I think it's a very cool idea, Papyrus."

"OF COURSE! MY IDEAS ARE ALWAYS COOL AND WORTHY OF MY GREATNESS!" - Papyrus boasted in the way that made Frisk melt, the happiness that his human friend liked his idea obvious in his voice.

"We should work on a musical number together, once things get settled..." - Frisk said, thinking of the fact that Undyne was still after her and that she had to make her way up to the Surface.

But she was determined to make it happen someday. She'd make it back to the human world, then she'd easily be able to visit her friends, and then they could think of a way to make this silly, yet cool idea come to life. It's true that she barely knew a thing about music, she was more of a dancer than singer, but maybe she'd find some musicians among monsters?

It was a nice thing to dream about for now. The human teen still had a journey and challenges ahead, and she knew that, but there was nothing better than a dream - big or small, silly or realistic - to hold onto to keep going. "Yes, someday, we'll sing to the world about our friendship." - she thought to herself before saying bye to Papyrus and then resuming her long perilous journey.

A few weeks later...

In a studio decorated like some snowy woods, with fake snow falling from the ceiling, Papyrus and Frisk were performing the dance choregraphy they had put together. Their dance was meant to be similar to their battle, with big and small jumps, some swirling, and dramatic arm movements, except it was much smoother and had a rythm, one that followed the music playing in the background. And of course, they sang their verses (needed for the future lip sync) similarily to a dialogue, reminiscent of the one they've had back during their actual battle in Snowdin. Papyrus' lines were about how he needed to capture a human to finally achieve his dream to be in the Royal Guard and gain respect, as well as about his increasing doubts. Frisk's lines were obviously about convincing him that he didn't need to do that to gain respect, adding that he was already great in her eyes for who he is. (And of course, there were some a few flirting lines!) The song ended with Papyrus declaring that the human's admiration was all he needed in the end, because it was genuine. When the song stopped, the two ended up just standing face to face holding hands, while their eyes spoke volumes. Looking at his human, Papyrus wanted so badly to lean just a little close, and...

"Cut!" - Mettaton yelled through the duo's thoughts, stopping the recording of his cameras - "What a gorgeous performance, darlings!"

Papyrus and Frisk smiled at each other and then at Mettaton, before walking up to him, holding their hands together.

"Seriously, you two display so much chemistry! The audience will ADORE the music video when it comes out!"

"I... think that's because it's real feelings..." - said Napstablook with a timid expression, then looked up at the two stars of the upcoming music video - "Your dance skills are amazing, guys..."

"That's because it was done with your music, Blooky." - Frisk praised the ghost - "Thank you so much for mixing this tape. The project would never come to life without you."

"SHE'S RIGHT! AND THE XYLOPHONE BITS ADDED TO THE MELODY MAKE GREAT BONE SOUNDS!" - Papyrus added.

"...It was nothing... really..." - Napstablook blushed at the praise and he almost turned invisible for a brief moment.

After the Barrier broke a few weeks ago, and after the monsters were introduced to humanity, Frisk and Papyrus had recalled their little talk about the musical about their adventures. The two had started to flesh out ideas of how this could look like, to the point they could nearly picture the duet song and dance performance. And when Mettaton told the human girl he wanted to make up to her for his nasty behavior and that she could ask him for any favor, Frisk used the opportunity to tell him about her and Papyrus' idea. Mettaton got very thrilled and he said he'd help them make the music video of their dreams.

"But really, when you two dance, there's so much dedication, so much passion!" - Mettaton went on - "And the text you two wrote... outstanding! Impossible to not root for you two!"

The robot said the last part with a wink, and Papyrus and Frisk blushed a little. Another thing that happened shortly after the Barrier broke was that Papyrus asked Frisk out on another date, having realized his feelings grew into something more. And ever since, they were an inseparable couple, and whenever they did something together, they had the time of their life.

"The text may be good, but it's the actual singing that I'm worried about." - Frisk said, looking down - "It might not sound as good as it looks..."

"HEY, DON'T SELL YOURSELF SHORT, FRISK!" - Papyrus told her with a caring and confident look - "WE'LL BOTH DO GREAT!"

"Your boyfriend's right..." - said Shyren, floating up to Frisk - "With each singing exercise, you sound a little better. You just need to practice this song until it comes out naturally."

"Shy's right, that's what truly matters." - added Mettaton - "You don't need to have the voice of a mermaid, just sing with confidence like you just did while dancing. And if it'll really turn out necessary, a bit of autotuning can fix that. But I'm sure it won't be needed."

Frisk nodded, feeling better at her friends and boyfriend's words. Besides, the music video was just for fun, for themselves and their close friends.

"Alright, I think we all deserve a break. Shall we meet in three days for the next step?" - the robot suggested.

Everyone agreed that it sounded good, then Papyrus and Frisk said goodbye to Mettaton, Napstablook and Shyren and thanked them again for their help, before the couple headed out of the studio and in the direction of a cafe. On their way, Papyrus looked down at his girlfriend and said:

"UM, FRISK..?"

"Yes?" - the human looked up at her boyfriend.

When their eyes met, Papyrus knelt down to Frisk's level and kissed her on the lips. Frisk blushed, but gladly kissed back.

"I WANTED TO DO THAT AT THE END OF THE SONG." - Papyrus admitted with a blush after they parted - "BUT METTATON KIND OF INTERRUPTED."

"I know what you mean. I wanted to kiss you too, when the song ended." - Frisk replied with a smile - "I really loved to dance with you and revive our flirty battle..."

"I DID TOO! SING AND DANCE WITH YOU IS REALL FUN."

"Meeting you was most definitely my best adventure." - Frisk said with a soft tone.

"AN ADVENTURE WORTHY OF A MUSICAL." - Papyrus agreed, then squeezed Frisk's hand a little and added - "AND I KNOW FOR SURE IT'S FAR FROM BEING OVER YET."

Frisk looked at her skeleton boyfriend with a very soft look, touched by Papyrus' implied promise. She hoped the same thing, that their young romance would go on for a while.

"I'd gladly go wherever this adventure takes us, as long as the Great Papyrus' on my side." - she told her boyfriend with a smile.

"YOU CAN RELY ON ME FOR THAT." - Papyrus said seriously, then added with a more lighthearted tone, pointing at the cafe they were heading - "AND ALSO TO TREAT YOU WITH YOUR FAVOURITE MILKSHAKE!"

Frisk giggled at this and leaned just a little more against Papyrus as they approached the cafe. The eternal sweetness of her skeleton boyfriend filled that red heart at the core of her being with determination.
