This is the first time I've ever written anything on here, or in general, so please any feedback would be welcomed. I'll try and churn these chapters out as quickly as I can. This will eventually have some lemon within it, but I can't guarantee its quality, but it'll likely primarily only follow the 2 main characters. I hope you enjoy it. Also the dashes represent Wraith's voices speaking to her.

Chapter 1

Narrator P.O.V

Wraith has been a very volatile and unpredictable person for as long as she remembered. She's always had these voices in her head telling her what to do and making it difficult to hold down proper relationships. But it was also thanks to these voices that she was able to live as long as she has; they always seemed to get her out of trouble. For her it was a manageable nuisance, they were a constant in her life. Along with her personality made it hard for her to maintain many authentic connections asides from the more casual ones she has with the other legends. But she yearned for a deeper connection, for someone who, throughout it all, would be able to look past her shortcomings, calm her doubts, and help her when the voices are running rampant in her mind. Initially, she came to the Apex games to try and find out about her past. While that was still a priority, her primary focus slowly transitioned to finding her special someone. Although there weren't many opportunities to find someone as legends rarely left the Apex complex, and those from outside who came in rarely even glanced at her.

-as if someone would want to spend time with you

-180m below

-hey, it's Gibraltar; he looks a little banged up

-you don't deserve happiness, dumbass

-everyone will leave you, even Mirage and Wattson

-200m left

One of her two closest friends and brother in all but blood Mirage was always there to lean on. Although their personalities clashed often. Wraith was more quiet, and reserved while Mirage was outgoing and boisterous, but despite that Wraith always admired how he could brighten up her mood. Wattson, who had shown her constant kindness, and the reassurance, that Wraith craved. These two were people who Wraith put a great deal of trust and faith into. But even with their constant support, she still felt her doubts were too great and constant thought she was a burden on everyone.

-150m away, on your far left

-Mirage will leave you as well

-2 more watching from your right

-Wattson is talking to you

-don't' understand why she even still talks to you

Wraith! Wraith! WRAITH!

Wraith P.O.V

I was brought out of my daydreaming by Wattson, desperately trying to get my attention while hiding from the hail of bullets coming from the building adjacent to us. How could I be so stupid, daydreaming in the middle of a match, I'm worthless.

"I'm really sor-"

"Don't worry about it, just glad to have you back, Wraith,'' Wattson said with her usual kind smile.

I heard a set of footsteps sluggishly coming down the stairs and saw Gibraltar standing at the foot of the steps covered in dust, with many minor cuts on his face, and blood leaking out of his right arm. I quickly took out a syringe to toss to him when the voices went off in my head.

-this is your fault Gibraltar is hurt

-maybe if you used your damn brain for once

-yeah, honestly, how bad of a teammate are y-

-SNIPER LOOKING AT YOU, THEY'RE IN THE BUILDING

"Gibraltar watch ou-"

But I was too late halfway through; he had already been shot straight through the chest and now lay on the ground, not dead but severely hurt and bleeding out. I tried to go to him, but that sniper kept me pinned down.

"If we don't move we're gonna get picked off by that sniper," said Wattson

"But we can't just leave Gibraltar here he'll die if we don't do anything," I reasoned back.

Wattson was about to say something else but then we heard footsteps coming up the other set of stairs. I can't believe I forgot about them. We both heard a loud voice proclaim;

'Calling upon nature's strength' looks like they've got a Bloodhound, I think to myself bitterly.

-well, that's that

-they'll be here in 2.73 seconds

-should've used that accelerant instead of throwing it away

-as if she would make the right decision, stupid girl

Wattson tried to move to better position herself against them, but the sniper kept us exactly where we were, and she hadn't had the chance to put down any fences. They both knew they were cornered like rats; they had no escape. Caustic and Bloodhound rushed up the stairs and instantly gunned us down.

Squad Eliminated - Gibraltar, Wraith, Wattson*

Narrator P.O.V

Wraith was angry and ashamed, she couldn't believe their squad was the first to be wiped out, and in her mind, it was all her fault; she should've been more cautious and more attentive; she shouldn't have been daydreaming. While verbally abusing herself, Gibraltar began to walk over to her. She physically tenses up, believing that she was about to get an ear full. Just as Wraith opened her mouth, Gibraltar just shook his head.

"Don't worry about it brudda, I know what your gonna say and don't bother saying it, there's no way you could've known we were gonna get rushed like that even with your voices," he says somewhat bitterly with a slight sigh.

"Well I could've done more, at least patched you up when you got shot," said Wraith.

Gibraltar shakes his head and says, "I'm gonna head back to my room, you should do the same, looks like you haven't slept in days," and walked off to our shared apartment dorm.

Right after Gibraltar said that Wraith felt all of the lack of sleep, and adrenaline-pumping action hit her like a train; she yawned and groggily began to walk to her room but was interrupted by Wattson.

"Ah Warith, nice try on that round, can't win them all though now can we?" Wattson says with a smile.

"Oh.. uh.. Um.. I guess you're right," Wraith says bleakley.

"Were you just about to go to the apartment? Because if not you should, you need to be at your best. The new legend is supposed to be arriving tomorrow and you know first impressions are very important."

"Yea.. I was actually just about to, you coming?"

"I'll come along shortly. I've gotta wait for Dr. Caustic, he had wished to speak to me after the game."

"Alright … well… good night then."

"Oui bonne nuit, sweet dreams"

"... night."

Wraith groggily made her way to their dorm, passing a couple of staff members; she didn't even bother acknowledging their presence, which suited them fine as they didn't much care for her. She used her card to swipe into the apartment, and the door clicked open. Upon entering, she noticed Gibraltar's door closed; she carefully walked to her room, trying not to disturb the sleeping giant. Once entering she realized how much of a mess her room was; there're clothes scattered all over the place, her bed hasn't been made, her books are scattered across the work table, the only clean look in her room is her sound panels, which hung snuggly attached to the wall.

Wraith P.O.V

Internally I scoffed at Wattson's words as if I would have sweet dreams; they don't know why I always look terrible; these nightmares, glimpses into my past haunt me every night. I can't talk to anyone about this, I can't imagine how they would treat after such a story. I really should clean my room, but then again, what's the point? It's not like people ever pop in here. I'll just rest up for today; I'll skip dinner today and make up for it tomorrow. Hopefully, I'll have no nightmares today… as if I would get such a luxury. As my head touches the pillows, I'm instantly knocked out cold, and along with all her other various annoying thoughts, a single thought is more pronounced than the others. Who is the new legend?
