"Get away!"
A white haired girl shouted as she jumps down from the top of a trailer to go between frightened people and the zombie that was just about to pounce on him. With a kick to the face to knock the zombie down, the girl turned to the civilians and pointed one of her pistol-holding hands to the road opposite of the zombie.
Whether the crowd took to the terse advice well or not, they went running and screaming to the right direction anyway. With them out of the immediate danger, the white haired knight turned back to a zombie that was already getting up. Looking further behind the zombie, the girl can see a congested crossroad filled of abandoned vehicles, and a small grouping of more pale zombies swarming and approaching her.
"Tsk," the knight clicked her tongue at the realization that she could have saved more had she arrived earlier.
She pushed that thought out for now, and focused on the zombie in front of her. From the school uniform and the long hair it had, she realized that the zombie once a harmless girl from a local school.
"Sorry, this isn't probably the way you thought the day would end," the knight muttered an apology as she twirled her right pistol before giving a finishing blow at the zombie's head just like her old man taught her.
More groans brought the knight's attention to the rest of the growing horde down the road. After readying, she gunned it towards the crossroad and lured the zombies to the vehicles. The knight made sure to keep a healthy distance away from attacks, used powerful kicks to knock them down and took advantage of the small gaps between the vehicles. Control the battle, slow them down or interrupt them in the right places. Divide the horde to small manageable groups and only take them down then with her dual pistols.
The girl was no valkyrie like her father described her mother was, but she knew how to handle herself with most of her childhood helping her old man protect an entire village from the honkai.
The knight fought messily yet effectively taking the zombies down one by one until what once was a horde that could overwhelm an armed police force was reduced to a sparse zombie presence. She was starting to have a harder time to find the remaining zombies in the traffic more than actually fighting.
That was until the girl heard a powerful explosion from the other side of the truck near her. That was followed by very familiar inhuman roaring.
The knight took to stealth as made no noise as she went towards the truck's wheels and made sure to not get her feet seen. Crouching down to peek beneath the truck, she winced as she sees several white stumps with violet markings. Dipping her head lower to see more of the other side, she confirms the stumps as being the limbs of several honkai beasts thrashing vehicles on the other side.
The young knight swallowed her nervousness away, and silently ran back to the direction she came from. One single beast she could handle. But so many of them all at once?
"Just in time," the girl sighs in relief as she heard loud engines from afar approaching. Eventually, a shadow covered the knight from above, which the girl realizes was caused by an airship that was closing in to the direction of the roars. It eventually slowed to a hover, presumably above the beasts, and several suited personnel dropped down.
The young knight named Kaslana can happily leave them to the real valkyries.
The silver haired hero named Kiana swallowed away the inferiority she felt for not being able to do more herself.
Kiana Kaslana continued in her silent escape from the scene, knowing that vigilantism, even when against the honkai, is not well appreciated by the authorities. Her old man repeatedly warned her so back then, and that it was why he made sure to never be seen by them when they are near.
Kiana still doesn't fully understand why the government would stop people from helping them fight the honkai and save more people, but the fact that her old man was so careful meant that he was very serious about it.
Kiana eventually reach the trailer where she met the last few people she managed to save, and partially convinced herself to revel that she at least saved people and that's what mattered.
Kiana looked back to the direction where the beasts were. She couldn't actually see much more than a mass of vehicles, nor could she hear far with sirens and alarms blaring loudly, but the airship now cruising around the area tells Kiana that the beasts were already taken care of, and that the Valkyries are already clearing up whatever Kiana missed.
"This is fine for now, I guess."
Kiana told herself as she started thinking of ways to exit the area. She couldn't go back the way of the evacuation as there were people that knew her face and could report her heroic actions, and attention was the last thing her father taught her she wanted.
Not that Kiana was being a hero for hero's sake. Her father taught her well that the responsibility of a Kaslana is not that petty.
"Oh? Did one of them leave this here?"
Kiana's thoughts stopped there as she almost steps on a phone on the asphalt near the trailer. Her thoughts immediately remembered the people she protected here earlier.
On a whim she picked it up, half interested in doing one last good thing in this country. Maybe she could return it at the evacuation center when the presence of authorities goes away…
"What's this? Honkai Impact 3rd?"
At Kiana was confused as father said that there were only two known Impacts, and she knew something as important as a third one wouldn't go unnoticed by her. Then after seeing a loading screen, she realized that it was probably a mobile game somebody made, with a story probably centered around a fictional third impact.
Pretty morbid if you ask Kiana, as it was like asking for another apocalypse would occur… But with the bare minimum academic knowledge she had, she remembers her father told of several impacts that did occur in the previous era. The Kaslanas are one of the few families that have ancient relics from that era, and thus have responsibility to fight the honkai to save people. One such relics is her old man's pistols.
So a game hypothesizing another impact probably isn't very out of question.
Still morbid, though.
Curiosity getting ahead of her, Kiana thought it wouldn't be very harmful to try the game herself if only to waste time as waited for the commotion to die down. Considering that the game was the only open application in the phone, it should be the last thing on the mind of the person owning it when faced with a zombie invasion, right?
And so Kiana clicked the finished loading screen that showed a rising elevator with a transparent glass door that reveals the outside being some kind of facility. It was apparently stuck in that elevator until she interacted with it. The elevator reached some closed doors, which soon appeared to unlock, probably to access the main menu.
And it did. Appearing to show a bridge of some airship flying in the clouds, where the backside of a silver haired girl was seen. While the rest of the menu loaded in, the girl on the screen turned around, revealing to be certain white haired knight. Wearing a suit that is thematically similar to the suits that valkyries wore. And was also a bit taller and had more… package than the girl has right now.
"Wait… is that me?"
