Authors Note: This story will probably make more sense if you read some of my other story The girl who stole the Avengers hearts but you don't necessarily need to as it only really gives you some background information on the characters as the story line is different. There won't be much of Agents of Shield in the story but there will be a little at some point. Hope you enjoy the story :)

Chapter 1

The last day before going back to school and Ali was stuck inside again!

She had been living in the tower for over 3 years now and yet her family still hadn't stopped being so overprotective. If anything, they had gotten worse.

That was why Ali was lying on her bed bored out of her mind.

She had tried reading but she just wasn't in the mood and nothing good was on TV.

Her mum was monitoring the tracker on her watch and was also watching her through FRIDAY so she couldn't even try and hack it.

After 5 minutes of just lying there she decided to spend the time that her family were away on a mission investigating to see if there were actually any new interns since Pepper had been going on about some all week.

She got up and went to the elevator before telling FRIDAY to take her to the internship labs.

Nobody was there when she got there as it was Sunday, and all the interns were given the weekends off.

Ali made her way into the lab closest to her and looked around. Inside there were 6 work benches, 3 on one side of the room and 3 on the other.

The workbenches were full of scrap parts and there was also a computer on each desk. It was obvious that the task was to build a robot, but it seemed like the first 5 people on those benches hadn't managed to finish theirs yet.

She was just about to turn around and explore another lab when something shiny on the 6th desk caught her eye.

Walking over to the work bench she saw a highly polished, complete robot. It looked like a blue miniature version of BB-8.

Ali didn't want to risk breaking it so reframed herself from touching it.

"FRIDAY what does this robot do?"

"It acts like a personal friend however it cannot speak. It can play music and follow you around. Right now, it has been turned off, but it is the most complicated and only working robot out of the others on the workbenches. It was also made by someone who's geniusness rivals Mr Stark's even though they are the youngest competitor in this group."/

To Ali's ears FRIDAY sounded highly impressed and it took a lot to do that.

The robot looked perfect, but Ali always had to add her own touch to things, so she decided to update the creator's music choices. Also, she was bored and had nothing to do. She found a hole to stick a wire into, so she connected it to the computer on the desk. Once connected she logged into her profile and copied all of her music from her playlist onto the robot.

Once done she had been thinking about testing it, but her watch beeped before she had the chance.

She rushed back to the elevator and up to the main sitting room.

Not a minute later the rest of her family appeared. Thankfully none of them this time were injured.

Her mum rushed over to give her a hug which Ali returned before she was asked what she had done while they were gone.

There was no way that Ali was going to tell her that she had been in the internship labs as she didn't want to risk that becoming a place she wasn't allowed to go when everyone was away. That was why she just said that she watched TV and read.

Natasha seemed to except this story and nodded her head in approval before going to her room to wash and change.

Everybody else did the same except Tony who had not been in the sitting room with everybody else.

Ali knew exactly where he was though so headed to the elevator. The elevator took her to the floor where Tony's lab was.

As she stepped out, she could see him working on his suit through the glass.

She opened the door to the lab and stepped in before going over to the first thing that caught her eye.

Of course, it was a shiny polished piece of the new armour for his suit that Tony was creating.

Tony had heard Ali enter but decided to ignore her and hope that she would go away. That had never worked so far but he could always try.

"Uncle Tony..."

Tony sighed before responding,

"Yes Ali..."

"I found a really advanced robot and it was made and I really want to show you it."

By this point Ali had gone over to her Uncle and started pulling on his arm. She added her puppy dog eyes for effect but unfortunately over the years her family had started to grow an immunity to them.

"Ali, I am really busy."

"I won't tell Uncle Clint that it was actually you who ate the last of his Frosted Flakes."

Tony was taken aback. He was pretty sure that only Natasha had known about that.

"How do you...? Fine! But you better be quick. You have 15 minutes."

Ali counted that as a victory, so she preceded to pull him to the elevator. Once in it she let go of his arm.

When the elevator doors opened Ali rushed out of them and into the internship lab. Tony arrived a few seconds later.

He could see Ali grinning over by a corner and so made his way over there. He didn't even stop to look at the other incomplete robots.

What he saw on the table surprised him. He had no idea what was in the box of scraps that the maker of the robot was given but was pretty sure that he could have produced something only a slightly better from it.

He carefully picked it up and started examining it.

Ali noticed when Tony started to go into his own world and decided that now would be the time for her to leave. She had only really brought him down here to share that she had found a genius who was as smart as him but without knowing it she had set of a chain of reactions that would make her life a whole lot better.

The rest of the afternoon was spent watching movies with her family and ordering pizza for dinner.

Since she was now 14 her bedtime had been moved to 9:30pm but over the summer holidays she didn't have one as she could just have a lie in the next day to catch up on the missed sleep but now her bedtime was being in forced.

Tony had come back up to the sitting room just before the second movie had finished. He sat on one of the sofas next to Pepper, but he didn't seem to be watching the movie.

Just before 9:30 Ali got ready for bed before saying goodnight to her family in the sitting room and then making her way back to her room.

Her room still was the same as it had been 3 years ago but now pictures covered the walls. Half of them were of her and her family and the other half were of her and her friends. The majority of the pictures with her friends were of her and Maya.

She couldn't wait to see Maya again since she hadn't seen her best friend since the start of the summer and that was 4 weeks ago. They had texted and called each other but it just wasn't the same as seeing her in person.

Ali's nightmares had converted themselves from almost every week to once a month, so Ali managed to sleep nightmare free that night.
