More serious AU, I haven't seen the whole show, the animation is too off putting. Love the concepts though. I liked the New York movie with the Eagle Talon, so that happened but I think she either trusts people or she doesn't. Loaning out miraculous is stupid so here we go.
Prelude:
The last two years have been a roller coaster of events for the young heroine. Miraculous are the keys to secrets Marionette can't begin to fathom. Wizards, Vampires, and an ominous Shadow Society put Paris in harm's way. Miraculous Heroes must find the missing miraculous before Hawkmoth or something worse finds them first. Join Ladybug, Cat Noir, Rena Rouge, Carapace and Queen Bee, in their last two years in a hell called high school. Rated M for sex, tobacco, foul language, and character death.
So, watch season 3 and the New York movie first. I'm not sure where it is now, it was on Hulu. But Disney plus or Disney channel has the Miraculous World stuff. Its confusing. I'm compressing the timeline, to incorporate stuff, but not all of it.
Simply the best, up to the test.
Chapter one_ First Bell
Marinette dropped her bag to the floor with a thump followed by a second louder thump of herself on the floor, even on vacation she couldn't relax. Tikki her closest companion smiled down at her "You should probably unpack, and call Cat Noir and make sure he got back ok and shower and eat something before you pass out on the floor like Barkk."
Marinette, frowned at the Quami "Who's Barkk?" Tiki stopped smiling, "Hmm, a lazy goofball I used to know I guess." Marinette peeled herself from the floor. "Your memory is terrible, Tikki."
Tiki shrugged I haven't talked to some of the Quami in years, and there's a few I haven't seen in almost a millennium." Marinette felt bad for a moment, "I could let you guys have a play date or something." Tiki's moment of melancholy ceased. "You could leave the ladybug miraculous in the box with the others so we can hang out, like when you go to sleep."
"Ok sure, that's easy enough, I'll see you tomorrow Tikki."
Marinette placed the ladybug miraculous in its place beside the empty space and sealed it. Replacing the box in her closet, she grabbed a change of clothes and went to go shower.
Tiki bubbled at the idea of speaking with her old friends again.
Pollen greeted her with a warm affectionate embrace, "Tikki I was wondering if we'd get to catch up."
Trixx, Longg, and Sass were close at hand. Pollen kept talking, "Sass was just telling us about a fellow named Archimedes."
Sass cocked his head to the side, "Iss Plagg coming? I wass hoping to hold a proper meeting." Tikki shook her head, "We don't need you two fighting about the Atlantis again."
Sass was taken aback, "I wouldn't bring that up again, I sswear. But he did it because he doesn't like ssswiming and we all know it."
Long spoke up, "We've been over this I'm sure. We can't prove that the cat miraculous was in Atlantis before it was destroyed."
Trixx scratched her head, "Was that before or after the Library of Alexandria?" Tikki spoke up, "Plagg wasn't in Lower Egypt!" Pollen laughed "Why do these things always devolve into blame games? Can't we all just be happy to see each other?"
Tikki lit up, "Oh yeah! Do any of you remember Barkk?"
Sass groaned, "Barkk is the Quami of loyalty, Plagg, Barkk, and Stomp got along really well." Tikki giggled finally recalling Sass' annoyance with the three he listed, Pollen had a similar amused reaction.
Marinette managed to shower and unpack before turning in for the night, Cat Noir could be left unsupervised for a day.
Life seemed to return to normal when they got back to Paris. Summer was warm, Friends were kind, the weather was nice, and the Akuma's were easy to take down and infrequent in appearance. Almost as if Hawkmoth wasn't trying as hard since New York.
That concerned her but dwelling on thoughts of doom and gloom was exhausting, Cat Noir and Ladybug could handle anything.
Zoé Doria
Zoé zipped up her backpack and threw it over her shoulder. It was her first day of school at Françoise Dupont High School, in Paris. Her dad had taken a job here a few weeks ago. She wasn't mad about the move, she was excited. Zoe always believed that going somewhere new was always awesome, meeting new people was always fun and new experiences were just opportunities to grow.
Zoé had spent her first week in Paris exploring the city and brushing up on her French. She began learning the basics in Spanish, French and English when she was six, at the insistence of her dad, but swapping to using a new language again was a bit exhausting.
She took a breath and headed to school following the directions she memorized the night before to guide her path.
She passed a friendly man in a grey suit, careful not to disturb the pigeons he was feeding, he gave a smile and a wave, she smiled and returned the greeting before continuing. This city had hundreds of shiny cars all moving in a discord of traffic, a burly police officer was directing force of order in that disharmonious traffic, she waved thanks when he motioned her across.
This city was beautiful, the old buildings, the cobblestone and brick, it had so much life to it. She stopped for a moment to smell the fresh baked goods of a bakery with a very large man placing pastries in the front window, she smiled and waved he waved back cheerily, and she continued walking, the fresh croissants probably make the toast she had this morning look like dog food.
The lives here were filled with joy and hope. A small girl ran past her, darting between people and apologizing franticly to the numerous people she collided with.
Zoé contained her laughter as she followed the girl, who kept colliding with people and nearly spilling her package all over the sidewalk. Zoe caught her before a cross walk, "Excuse me. Do you need some tape?"
The girl nearly spilled her package in surprise. "Oh- what?" Zoe pulled her tape dispenser from her bag and taped the front of the box shut. She gave the girl a dry-humored look, "Now your cookies won't spill everywhere."
"Oh, thank you." The clumsy girl was sheepish too. "Do you want one?" Zoe shook her head. "I don't go for a lot of sweets." The girl smiled. "Okay, but if you change your mind, I live at that bakery back there, everything is baked fresh." Zoé smiled at the girl. "Living out of a flat above a bakery in Paris, that's got to be one of the most surreal things I've ever heard."
The traffic lights finally set them on their way, but the paths were similar so far.
"What do you mean?" the girl asked. "I mean waking up to the smell of fresh baked goods and having a fresh cup of coffee as the sun rises over the city of lights."
The girl smiled, "You sound like such a tourist, except that they call it the city of love." Zoé shrugged, "If by that you mean happy to be here then I'll own it. I'm a tourist."
"Oh, I'm Marinette by the way, Marinette Dupain-Cheng." "Zoé Doria, pleased to meet you." Marinette made an apologetic face, "I'd shake your hand but-" "Occupied that's fine." "Do you have somewhere to be?"
Zoé looked down at her watch, "We still have five minutes to first bell. I assumed a teenage girl with a backpack was headed to the only school within a mile of here."
Marinette looked confused for a moment, "Yeah, that's right. I mean 'yes' I'm going to school too. But I thought you said you were a tourist. Zoé nodded, I'm a tourist, and my dad and I moved here two weeks ago for a new gig."
Marinette nodded. "Where are you from?" "New York, Rio before that."
Marinette smiled, "Wow, your dad seems to like drastic changes." Zoé shrugged, "He's an artist, he does whatever he wants." Marinette stifled a laugh, "Sorry, I'm just wonder how you mom reacted to: 'Hey honey, were moving to New York in the United States I already packed, let's go' sounds surreal."
Zoé smiled joke, "If my mom ever voices her opinion, you will be the first person I tell." "How did she not?" "It would be kind of difficult seeing as she hasn't spoken to him in sixteen years."
"Oh, sorry" "Don't be, you're an entirely unrelated mess."
Marinette snorted, "Yeah. Is it that obvious I'm a disaster?"
Zoé was about to respond when another girl jumped Marinette from behind "HI GIRL!" Marinette dropped into a crouch and held her box over her head. "Ugh! Alia, don't do that!"
Zoé wove greeting to Alia, a darker-skinned more developed teen, in a flannel, jeans, and glasses, carrying a backpack that probably had a laptop in it. "Serves you right. Making me wait for you."
Marinette scowled and she stood, "I brought macrons and you're still messing with me. AH ep, ep, Ep!" she recoiled as Alia reached for the box, "These are for our entire class!" Alia smiled at her friend. They clearly knew each other a while. "Then stop feeding them to the pigeons." "I'm not! Zoé helped me out with some tape."
Zoé wove hello again in the energetic way she always did. It was returned, in a mirrored fashion. "Nice to meet you. I'm Alia."
Françoise Dupont High School was nice, Alia and Marinette, headed off to pick out their lockers after they picked up their schedules.
Zoé didn't need a locker but decided to follow them, she didn't know anyone else, luckily Alia decided the best use of her time was to play tour guide, "the science labs are over there, art is upstairs next to mathematics, the cafeteria is over- HEY NINO! GET OVER HERE!" Marinette jumped at the sudden outburst.
A nervous kid in a red hat and headphones looked like a deer in headlights, he approached cautiously, as if concerned for the factuality of his continued existence, "Hey, Alia, what's up?" She giggled and kissed him on the cheek, "Nothing, you're just fun to mess with."
'Nino' breathed a sigh of relief, "I thought I did something wrong." He explained to the two bystanders. Zoé nodded, Marinette smiled, "You looked like a deer in headlights." "Yeah, me just now? That's you, like all the time."
Nino turned to Zoé "Hi I'm Nino"
Zoé wove greeting before making a fool of herself, "Wassup!" Nino responded immediately with way more energy. "WASSUP!" Then a blonde boy dove onto Nino "WASSSUUPP!" the to tumbled to the floor going: "WASSSSUUPPP!" The two started laughing, "Hey man, England was a total bust, my dad was trying get me to go to a private school with my cousin Felix." Nino shuddered, in horror, and hugged his friend. "Don't worry dude, you're safe now. Nobody is sucking out your soul or making you wear that awful school uniform, not on my watch."
Zoé looked over at Marinette for any sum of explanation, she didn't get one. Alia turned to Zoé, "Did you just speak guy?" Zoé couldn't help but laugh a little, "Sorry, I could tell he was going to get the joke, I had no idea uh blondie was going to tackle him."
The blonde stood up and fixed his hair. "He knew, I haven't seen any of these guys in two weeks."
A megaphone echoed through the courtyard.
"THIS IS OWL MAN, THE BELLS AREN'T WORKING TODAY, PLEASE PROCEDE TO CLASS!"
Zoé was excited to learn all her new acquaintances were in her class. She was going to sit next to Marinette, but Alia pushed her into a seat next to a tiny blonde girl who gave a big smile. "Hi, I'm Rose, we'll talk later." Marinette ended up sitting next to the blonde boy from earlier.
Ms. Bustier was a slender ginger woman with bright green eyes, "Ok good, we're all here, it was my intention to be teaching freshmen this year, that's not the case, apparently Ms. Frizz threatened to quit if she had to teach this class, so I get to keep working with all of you again."
A dark-haired girl in the back smirked. "By 'this class' you mean Chloé right?" A blonde girl in the front row spun around in her chair, "Fuck you too Lila!" Chloé she presumed.
Ms. Bustier shouted before Lila could remark. "Enough! As it happens, both of you were labeled 'problematic' during teacher planning. Due to both of you causing numerous additions to the school rules, and the student handbook. But if you must know she was more concerned with the frequent Akuma attacks."
Zoé stared on in amazement.
Ms. Bustier took a moment to breathe, then continued in her unfeigned cheery tone. "The syllabus is on your desks, it's the same as last year. I won't bother going over it. This year you'll be expected to complete at least two to four projects concerning any topic that has had a profound effect on society."
Alia raised her hand but didn't need to speak, "Yes you can do your project on superheroes, provided you stay on topic. Using America as a point of contrast could be very interesting. The purpose of the project is to leave the class more informed on the subject matter. I expect everyone to present at least once this semester, the third and fourth projects will be extra credit to your final grade."
Zoé rose her hand. Ms. Bustier looked at her then looked down at her clipboard. "I'm sorry we do have three additions to the class roster, Zoé Doria, Jamie Sionis, and Luka Couffaine. Would you like to tell us about yourselves?"
Luka spoke up first, "I'm Juelica's twin brother, I've met most of the people here before." A large boy with blonde hair sparked with recognition, "Oh yeah I met you at Adrien's party." Luka gave him a hesitant look, "I think we met before that actually but okay." Rose, bumped her to talk, Zoé stood and wove hello, "Hi, I'm Zoe, I'm from New York, I like painting and I'm really excited to be living in Paris."
She sat back down. Jamie, the other new kid pulled a card box from his bag, fumbling for a specific one, before handing it to Nino, who was sitting next to him. Nino read it aloud: "Hello, my name is Jamie Sionis. I would like to bid you gratuitous salutations. Unfortunately, a childhood injury to my throat and upper torso prevents vocal communication. Please be considerate to my disability. Thank you for your time." Nino flipped the card over and read the other side: "If found please return to Jamie Sionis."
Nino handed the card back to Jamie put a hand to his lips and gestured to Nino. 'Thank you' in sign language.
Ms. Bustier didn't hesitate to take back the reigns. "Ok we should probably finish introductions so, no one feels like a stranger." Adrien jumped up raising his hand. "Yes, Adrian?" "Can I introduce everyone?" "Respectfully yes." Adrian hopped up from his seat. "I got this, Chloé is our most sophisticated classmate, fashion authority number one. Sabrina is always by Chloé's side BFF standards. Marinette, baker and fashion designer, general do-gooder. Yours truly, the model, fencer, and trilingual super star, Ivan the tough guy and Kitty Section drummer, Rose, Kitty section singer and general ball of fun. Lila is the attention seeking, lying, traitorous," "Mr. Agreste!" "I mean, Lila, the intelligent, and smartly dressed, Pizhe yánpí de láng"
Zoe wasn't sure what that language was at the end.
Adrian moved gestured to his next classmate, "Alix, make fun of her height at your expense, she rollerblades competitively and packs a mean swing, Nino's the dude, who's always rockin toons, seriously, always it's his job, Nathan is drawing comics during class their really great he has a website. Juleca plays base with Kitten Section, she has literally no fear. Alya the Superfan of Superheroes, typically running emotional backup. Max is the human calculator who's got the moves like Jager."
Adrien walked to the back row. "Kim's the super-jock, he's built like freight train, and Lukka here is shredding the guitar solos for Kitten Section, and he's the heart of any team."
Adrian walked back to the front, stopping in the second row, "I think that everyone,"
Mylene rose her hand "you missed-" Adrian jumped in surprise "Ah!" Mylene matched his reaction in greater volume, "AHH!" He turned back to his audience, "Kidding! This is Mylene, she's fun to mess with."
This school was surreal. Seeing teachers that loved their jobs, and Mr. Damocles dressed up a superhero. She was so excited. Marinette and Alia were in her English and Science classes, Zoé met a nice girl named Aurore in 3-D art and saw Nino and Adrien again in Social Studies.
The cafeteria had a tree in it, it felt like an expressionist piece except that, it was in use, the checkered floor and the high ceilings stretched out the image, the windows had a nice view too, painting this could be fun, capturing the depth.
She took a seat by the window, Marinette joined her, Alya and Nino were close behind, "Hello again." Marinette patted the box from before, "This is the most macrons I have ever managed to bring to school at once. So, what flavor do want?"
Sorry If I spelled Marinette wrong. I thought it was Marronette, found out Marionette dolls are the origin of the name Marinette. Thanks for reading feel free to comment, about what you would have done better. I'll Dm back any questions or just answer them in the next chapter. Hope you enjoyed it.
