Author's Note: I'm just making this for fun. Or at least, this chapter. It's just a sort of world-setter or whatever.
Not all men were created equal.
It was a harsh truth of this world, of the reality Ikazuchi Izuku lived in.
"Stop this, Kacchan!" A young, green-haired child with a single bang of red hovering over his face demanded, standing protectively in front of another boy, slight fear and defiance in his eyes. He was trying to defend one of Kacchan's (real name Katsuki Bakugo) victims. Bakugo was infamous for being a bully with a potentially powerful Quirk.
The ash blonde-haired bully sneered. "Get out of the way, you useless freak," Bakugo snapped, small sparks, explosions, appearing in the palms of his hands. "Or else I'll shove your Quirkless ass out of the way."
Izuku stood his ground, remembering his father's lessons. "I won't let you hurt them, Kacchan! It's not right to hurt others!" Despite knowing he was hopelessly outmatched in front of a real Quirk user, Izuku would try his best to protect others from Bakugo.
Bakugo's sneer only turned into a cruel smile. "Well then, I suppose you're willing to take the beating for them, huh Deku?" Izuku flinched at the harsh name but quickly reconstituted his willpower.
'I-I can do this,' He tried to reassure himself. 'My dad trained me for this… right?'
Izuku didn't even last a minute, before Katsuki and his gang had him bruised and beaten on the floor. He stared up at the sky, tiredness in his eyes as he thought of his misfortune. Of how he was Quirkless. Of how a small difference in his DNA compared to Bakugo's, changed their relationship from friends to enemies.
It all started with a chain reaction of genetic mutations. The first recorded incident was in Qingqing, China. A baby that was emitting light was instantly taken to the news, radically changing reality for the entire world. Religions and societies were baffled. A few cults were formed.
Ever since that day, superpowers were discovered in various places across the globe, mutations all similar to the Luminescent Baby. Before we knew it, the supernatural became natural. What was once mere dreams became reality. The MCU became the U.
The world is now entirely based off of a Superhuman Society, and about 80% of the world has a Quirk or a special trait. And in a world swirling with chaos… the one profession all had dreamed about and admired had become a reality shining in the spotlight.
Heroism.
And yet… Izuku was one of the unlucky twenty percent without a Quirk. He remembered it vividly, that day he found out he was Quirkless, that his dreams were crushed.
Excitement filled every single cell in Izuku's body. This was it, this was the day. His Quirk would finally be revealed! There were so many possibilities on the board!
Maybe he'd get a variant of Telekinesis, like his mother?
Or maybe he'd get one of his dad's abilities? Sure, he didn't know what his dad's Quirk was, per se… being a Pro Hero and all that; he kinda kept the real details of his Quirk hidden from the public eye… But even still, his dad had so many cool abilities, he'd be fine with getting even one!
'Maybe I'll get lightning! Or even ice! Poison's kinda a creepy ability, but I'm sure it's useful since dad always finds a way to use every part of his Quirk!' But if anything, the ability he'd most be excited to inherit?
His dad's ability to create energy-based weapons and such from thin air. It just looked so cool! And useful, too!
Instead, reality came crumbling before the young Izuku all at once.
"I'm afraid to say… your son is Quirkless." At the blunt words of the doctor, Izuku dropped his All Might action figure, unable to comprehend what was just said. He was sent into a state of shock, as Inko Ikazuchi, his mother; looked at the doctor.
"There must be a mistake…" Inko asked worriedly, concerned for what this meant for her beloved son.
"Well, my records say you're a fourth-generation Quirk user, is that correct?" At Inko's nod, the doctor continued. "What powers do you and the boy's father have?"
"Well, I can pull small objects towards me, and my husband…" Inko smiled weakly as she pulled Izuku's All Might figure back into her hands. "Well, let's just say he's called the Omni Hero for a reason."
"Ah, I see. That makes things even more concerning. If your husband really is Alpha, then there could have been a multitude of abilities your son could have potentially inherited," the doctor shook his head sadly. "Looks like the poor boy just got a bad draw." He then turned to the x-ray on the wall. "You see, when superpowers first started appearing, there were many research studies conducted; and doctors found a link between the bones in a person's foot and their chances of developing a Quirk."
But things didn't get much better from there. Day by day, he asked his mother the same question. "Mommy, can I still become a Hero without a Quirk?"
Every day, she froze up and stayed silent, until one day she broke down and began to cry as she hugged Izuku. "I'm sorry, Izuku!" She wept, hugging the boy as tears welled up in his eyes. "I wish things were different…"
'...Dad… Would you believe in me…?' He had never wished his father would return from his tour in America more than now. Every day when he watched videos of the #3 Hero uploaded onto the Internet, it brought temporary reprieve for him… that only made him feel worse as he was unsure of what his dad would think of him… he was Quirkless, after all.
Nothing like All Might. Nothing like his dad.
Ryutensei Ikazuchi thought of himself as a… an inexperienced man when it came to children. Especially his own.
Oh, don't get him wrong. He loved his son, Izuku. He loved his wife, Inko. But after realizing this entire world he entered was built off of a Hero Society? Yeah, he had to make some changes to his original plan. Especially when Inko found herself pregnant with Izuku.
Oh, Izuku. His handsome Emerald Prince. From the day he laid his eyes on him, he instinctually knew he was special. He also knew the boy inherited his Alestian Genes and the capacity to use Magic, just like him.
Oh yeah, nearly forgot. Ryu did not use a Quirk. For all intents and purposes, he was Quirkless. Though, only Government Leaders, the #1 Hero, Yuuei, and Inko knew about that. Precautions were also made to keep that a secret by giving him a fake Quirk in the Quirk Registrations, so no one figured out his identity as Alpha and tried to figure out the truth.
Or something along those lines, he didn't know. He was too tired right now. "I need about seven cups of coffee, Michael!" He asked his intern, the black-haired man nodding and getting up from his desk to grab the required coffee. It wasn't that he needed them for his powers or anything, no.
He was just addicted.
"Now I think of it, how is Izuku?" He asked himself, before walking over to his phone and picking it up, quickly using his contacts to call Inko, a patient smile on the #3 Hero's face. Once his call was picked up, the red and yellow-green-eyed man smiled wider. "Inko! How are you, sweetie?"
"Oh, Ryu!" He could hear Inko nervously laughing in the background, confusing him somewhat. "I'm doing great! How's the Hero work in America going?"
"My tour should be ending soon, I'll be returning to Nihon soon," Ryu replied slowly, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Is something wrong, Inko?"
"N-no! Nothing! Tell you what, Izuku will be coming back from school soon! You can talk to them then!" Inko quickly said, making Ryu even more suspicious.
"Right. Call me back then. Love you, Inko." He sighed as he hung up the call, only for Michael to return with his coffee, which he placed at his desk. "Mike, what should I do?"
"You want my opinion, boss?" Mike raised an eyebrow, as Ryu nodded. The Quirkless intern sighed. "My honest opinion is that you finish up your tour ASAP and reunite with your family. You don't want to alienate yourself from your wife and kid over this tour."
Ryu eventually smiled gratefully. "Thanks, Mike. I think I'll do just that."
"Breaking news!" A female news reporter declared as she stared down at the floor below her in a helicopter. "Villains are attacking the National Diet Building! We highly recommend all civilians- Wait, what's that blur!"
"God-fucking-damnit, I did not ask for a villain attack on the same day I return to Nihon," Ryu, now in his Hero state 'Alpha', grumbled. He flew directly into a gigantified Villain and knocked them into the air casually, before freezing their arms and limbs with his ice magic.
"I-it's Alpha! The #3 Hero has returned from his tour in America!" The news reporter cheered slightly, as Alpha continued to restrain the rest of the villains, trapping them with red and blue strings. He eventually released the strings from his hands, as they were emitted from his fingers, before dashing off into the air again, leaving a present for the police in the form of restrained and weakened Villain wannabes.
He quickly found his way back home by scanning the area with his SoulSight and smirked as he landed in front of a building, knocking on the front door as a young child's voice called out. "Coming!" The door quickly opened to reveal Izuku, as Alpha smiled down at his son. "How can I…" Izuku's eyes widened. "D-dad?"
"Yeah, son. It's me." Izuku quickly hugged his father, crying into the man's Hero uniform as he returned the favor, his own eyes tearing up slightly. "I won't be leaving you again, alright son?"
"D-dad?" Izuku called out again, as he looked up at his dad with tear-filled eyes. "D-do you think I can become a hero?" Ryu paused at the vaguely familiar question, his knowledge from his past kicking in. He should have expected this. Just because he was now Izuku's dad, it didn't guarantee Izuku would get a Quirk.
'Looks like this timeline is similar to the Original One…' He thought to himself, before smiling at his son, instinctively wanting to give him hope.
"Yes," He affirmed, to Izuku's surprise and delight. "It'll take you a lot of time, patience, and training; but I'm sure you can become a splendid Hero."
"Even without a Quirk?" Izuku elaborated.
Ryu's smile only widened. "Even without a Quirk. Now come on, let's go talk with your mom, I'm sure she's got some ideas on what we can do to make your dream become a reality."
And from the looks of admiration and adoration he received from his son since that day, he knew he had become their Hero. And that's all he ever wanted.
"Izuku, I'm going to come clean with you. I'm Quirkless," Ryu confessed once he got out of his Hero costume, sitting in front of Izuku with Inko by his side. The boy blinked once, twice, before exclaiming how that was impossible. Ryu quickly raised a hand. "Son, come here and take my hand." He commanded, as the boy shot out of his chair and did as his father asked.
Izuku's eyes widened as emotions and thoughts and memories flooded his mind, before taking a step back as he looked up in awe. "D-dad, you're a… god?"
"Former!" Ryu interrupted quickly, not wanting to be praised like a deity. "Former god. I left that position the day I met your mother. Decided to become a normal-ish human being, and later, a Pro Hero to support you and your mom."
"Dad… are you really Quirkless?" Izuku asked as the man with dual-toned hair nodded. Just like Izuku, Ryu had a bit of red in his hair, though his dominant hair color was a whitish-lavender. "Then how do you do what you do?"
"Good question, son," Ryu smiled. "How about I teach you, so you can do it yourself?"
If Izuku didn't love and admire his dad already, this just settled it. His dad, Alpha, was just as cool as All Might.
