I can't believe this had to happen, sonic the hedgehog, once the hero of Earth, has become corrupted with anger and grief, why? Because he lost his best friend and brother, Miles "Tails" Prower
He was killed during a battle with Eggman, when he noticed his little brother take his last breath and fall limp in his grasp, he screamed and transformed into his most horrific form so far... Darkspine sonic... he's a worse and more powerful version of Dark sonic, and he literally killed Eggman by impaling him with a dark chaos spike, which he can summon out of the ground by just using his mind, and to make things worse he has been stuck in this form since that fateful day
There was no funeral for tails, he kept the kitsune's body for himself while using some form of spell to keep it from decomposing, we have tried to retrieve it multiple times but it mostly results in one of us nearly getting killed by those dark chaos spikes, he even surrounded his house with those things after 4 years of us trying to get the kitsune's corpse, we tried other methods but nothing worked
4 years passed and nothing changed, we lost two friends, one to death and one to corruption, but this would change on this very day...
I am shadow the hedgehog, and this is my view on the situation
Darkspine's P.O.V:
"Why... why couldn't I save him? Why did things have to be like this?" Darkspine thought while crying heavily
"There is no need to cry now"
"W-what? Who are you, what are you doing in my head?"
"You don't recognise my voice? I am Tikal, I have felt you have been suffering from loss and I want to help you siphon the corruption out of your body" Darkspine stopped crying, and started to think there might be a way to bring tails back after all, he had heard of some temple where people can be revived, however the problem is that no one has found it for a very long time
"Wait... could you maybe tell me where the temple of resurrection is located? I could use it to bring my brother back to life"
"Alright I'll tell you where it is" a map appeared out of some form of glimmer in his hands
"Thank you Tikal, oh and do I need to take his body with me to the temple for this to work?"
"Yes, take him with you"
"Finally, I can feel happiness once he is back"
And with that, he looked at the map once the voice in his head was gone, he went to his bed room and picked up tails's glowing body which was laying in the double sized bed of his , rushed outside and flew in the direction of where the temple was located
Darkspine had arrived at the temple with his little brothers body, he went inside to find himself in a large spherical room, someone was waiting for him at the altar in the middle, it was no other than Tikal herself, it looked like she was waiting for someone else other than him
"I didn't expect to see you here, Tikal" Darkspine said curiously
"I can be here due to chaos energy enriching this place, Chaos will arrive here soon, he will be carrying your brothers spirit that we are going to use for the resurrection process, oh and please remove the spell from the body and place it on the altar" Tikal spoke
"Alright then, as you wish" Darkspine said as he dispelled the anti decomposition spell and placed tails body on the altar of revival, then something came out of a bright light which flashed in the room, it was Chaos, carrying the sleeping spirit of his little brother
The watery being put the spirit of tails next to the body, then Tikal started to speak an unknown language with her hands outstretched and her palms open, same with Chaos on the other side, then after some time, there was a bright light, and when it was gone, something else was lying on the altar, plus Tikal and Chaos where gone, and I was no longer Darkspine, I had gone back to being sonic... the ritual had cleansed my corruption and turned me back to normal
The fox that was now lying on the altar I saw was... my little brother tails... but he didn't look the same, he was taller, his tails where longer, his hair had grow and some brown spots where visible on his now thicker fur, i put my ear on his chest to hear his heartbeat, and I heard it... this made me overjoyed on the inside, I started to get tears in my eyes while smiling with happiness and sorrow, and then... he woke up
Tails P.O.V:
"Huh? W-where... am... I?" The fox spoke slowly due to being tried and confused on why he was lying on something hard, he sat up and turned his head, just to find a hedgehog smiling at him with tears in his eyes
"S-Sonic? But how... wait, how did i-" he was interrupted as he suddenly got hugged tight by his big brother, who was now sobbing happily into his thick fur, The fox returned the hug and wrapped his tails around him, with tears in his eyes
"T-tails, y-you have no I-idea on h-how much I h-have m-missed y-you b-bro" Sonic spoke while struggling to talk due to the sorrow of joy building up inside him
"Sonic? Why couldn't you just move on? You didn't have to revive me just to feel happy again" tails spoke, which made sonic cry even more as he tried to explain
"I couldn't, the darkness took over me, I had no control, Eggman is dead because of me as well, I am so sorry bro" Sonic spoke while hugging tails tighter whilst nuzzling his white muzzle and then burrowing himself in his fluffy chest
"What caused you to become like that? Things didn't have to be like this, you still had Amy and Shadow for example"
"Yeah, unfortunately those two couldn't help me rid the darkness, and it's hard to explain what happened, but the most important thing right now is that I have YOU back... wait... why do i feel so... sleepy" the hedgehog said while suddenly sounding sleepy, and then feel asleep in tails arms
"Sonic? *sigh* I'll have to fly him home I guess, I think his emotional state made him sleepy and tired" Tails said to himself while walking out and then started to fly with his twin appendages at a high speed
Shadow P.O.V:
"Huh? What was that?" The ebony hedgehog spoke while spotting a yellow flash in the sky, he didn't think it was possible, but it was...
"No... How could you sonic, why couldn't you just move on! The dead should stay dead!" Shadow was furious and not happy with sonic's choice of bringing tails back, so he was now going to alert the rest of his friends
Tails P.O.V:
The fox had arrived at sonic's house, which was no longer surrounded by dark chaos spikes, he opened the door, and noticed the interior wasn't in a good condition at all
"Oh my, he even stopped taking care of his house after I died? I just can't believe this caused him so much pain" he got inside and laid sonic in the living room couch and pulled a blanket over him
He then went and looked at himself in the mirror, and noticed a ponytail dangling on his behind, at first he got embarrassed with a blush, but then he found it cute "Actually, I think I look cuter with a Ponytail, at least my long hair won't get in the way of my sight"
He then started to clean up the house, since if he didn't there was a risk it could collapse, he cleaned up the dusty furniture, ceiling, floor and walls, did the dishes and so on
Later...
The house was back in good shape again, sonic was still asleep however so tails had gone upstairs and put him in bed, he even decided to join in with the hedgehog and let him use one of his twin appendages as a extra blanket, sonic felt the fluffy namesake on his body and hugged it tight, which made tails blush
But that was disturbed by a loud knock on the front door
"Hmm? I wonder who that could be" he got up from the bed, went downstairs and opened the door, to find a disappointed shadow in front of him, with his old friends behind the ebony hedgehog
"Shadow? Why are you here?" The ebony hedgehog responded "Tails, why couldn't sonic move on? The dead should stay dead you know" this made tails growl in anger, but then he spoke calmly "No shadow, the darkness lived inside him, And the reason I am the only one who could cleanse him is due to how strong our friendship is, and now we will never separate again, so please shadow, listen, he simply can't live without me due to this reason"
"Sigh, I am not here to take you away from him, so I'll let you two be together again, but the next time a tragedy occurs, I hope he can recover from it" then, he was invaded by hugs from Cream, Cheese, Amy, Rouge and Knuckles
"I thought I would never see you again Mr Tails, but I can't be happier than this" Cream said with joy with Cheese squeaking "Chao Cha Chao!"
"I thought we where going to lose sonic forever, but thanks to you he's back" Amy said with tears of happiness in her eyes
"Oh my, you really have become quite handsome and cute Tails" Rouge said while fiddling with his ponytail and ruffling his hair , which made tails blush in embarrassment
"I normally don't hug people, but to see someone like you again makes me happy" Knuckles said proudly
Then the now awake sonic came down the stairs, and saw his old friends, Tails then walked to sonic after his friends let him go, and spoke to him about something important
"So sonic, are we going to be together forever?"
"Yes tails, brothers forever, like always" he hugged tails tightly, the fox returned it, and didn't let go for some time as his friends where watching the two brothers embracing each other
After that, his friends left, Shadow didn't look happy about this however, but sonic and tails didn't care for now, the most important thing was they where once again back together, and would never separate again...
