The hospital was quiet as Kara sat on the roof, watching the LA sunrise. The cool summer breeze blew past her face and she blinked.
"Kara?" The blonde ex cheerleader bit down on her lip. Of all the people at the hospital, Leo was the last person she wanted to see in the moment. Hell even Nurse Jackson in all her terrifying glory would have been better than him.
"What do you want Leo?" She grumbled, pulling her oversized robe around herself tighter. The boy wheeled himself closer to her. "Wanted to see if you were okay. And to figure out what your problem is. Hunter wants to give his heart to you. Why would you give that up?"
Kara laughed, a dry laugh that burned her throat. She blinked back tears. "It's his. Even in death. That heart belongs to him and to him only." Leo didn't stop, the bald headed boy kept going.
"And he decided that he wants to give it to you Kara. Even though you are the last person who should be getting it. I don't get why you are refusing it! You're basically been handed over a second chance while people like me and Jordi have had to fight for one!"
He stared at her from his wheelchair, looking down at his covered stump, and Kara scoffed. She rolled her eyes and turned away so he couldn't see her face or the tears that were brimming. She turned back to respond. "I don't have to do anything that I don't want to Roth."
The words came out more like an insult than anything else and she watched as Leo's face crumbled. "You keep thinking that I'm a good person." She said with bitterness. She shook her head before looking at him directly.
"Maybe that's why Emma gets so many fucking chances when it's pretty clear that the only reason she loves you is because you don't call her out on her unhealthy behaviors. Maybe that's why Jordi got to keep his fucking leg and you didn't! Maybe that's why my boyfriend died and I'm still here!"
Tears were now openly falling down her cheeks, and she could feel her heart monitor buzzing against her chest. Leo didn't say anything. Instead, he carefully wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her into his lap. She sat down with a heavy sob, and he sat up straight, pressing his forehead against hers.
"You're okay Kara. You're okay."
And truthfully, she wasn't sure if she agreed. But with Leo's arms around her, she was a little bit more sure that it would be easier. Hopefully.
