Kakashi looked outside of his book. It wasn't his usual Icha Icha paradise book because Sasuke had told him if he even saw a hint of a orange book in front of his child then he would throw every Icha Icha book he had into the river. He peered around his surroundings and smiled to himself at what he saw. Naruto was running after his older child while Sakura and Hinata were sitting under a tree with Naruto's younger child in Hinata's lap, making weird faces towards her mother while Sakura poked the child's cheeks affectionately. Sasuke was off in the distance with his child, talking to her about something, most probably scolding her.
They had come to the park for a monthly team 7 reunion and after most of the team 7 were happily married, seeing their children join the reunion had become a common ocurence. But now that both Boruto and Sarada were reaching the age of joining the academy- they were hyper active and quick to bother their parents. kakashi adored his team and saw them as his family, He even saw their children as his grandchildren, but he had no interest in going to stupid children daycare disguised as a team reunion- The only reason he had joined was because it would give him an excuse to dodge his hokage duties and he really didn't feel like sitting in his office.
His ninja reflexes quickly pulled in as he ducked just in time to miss a kunai aimed for his head.
"Boruto ! That's a kunai not a plaything! apologize to Uncle kakashi right now."
"Sorry Uncle kakashi." Boruto said with a smile still running around with the kunai.
kakashi chuckled at the irony. He would have to run after a blonde haired hyperactive kid much like Naruto was right now and he was relishing this memory right now.
"Papa you're so annoying! Just back off and let me do the jutsu! I don't need you protecting me all the time!" Sarada suddenly said.
Sasuke's face looked like all the colour had been sucked out and Sakura was laughing her butt off at her daughter's statement.
Suddenly Sarada did some hand seals and brought some hands up to her mouth and spit fire out of her mouth. The ball of flames narrowly missed kakashi but the book he was reading was burned to a crisp, He saw Sarada high fiving her father so this was probably their plan all along.
"Kakashi-sensei are you ok?" Sakura walked towards him and emitted green chakra from her hand quickly searching his palm. She was always caring- His gaze softened at the look of her working on his hands, She truly was the daughter he never had. Technically he was her father-in-law as Sasuke had asked him to come to their wedding as his father-but he didn't feel like he was Sasuke's father any more than he was Sakura's or Naruto's.
"Heh. Look at Naruto chasing after Boruto- really reminds me of someone." Sakura said looking at Boruto and his father
"Yeah you're right, Maybe now you three understand all the things I had to go through with you all. "
"I really sorry, After I had to look after Sarada- I finally realise how much we must have bothered you."
"You were fine. It was always those two who were the trouble makers. Still. It will be worth it." Kakashi said his gaze softening even more thinking about something.
"yeah when they grow up and become great shinobi."
"No. Not when they grow up... You'll understand soon enough."
Sakura handed Kakashi some watermelon before going back to her seat with Hinata. Kakashi quietly reminisced about his three little children. All grown up now.
Sakura and Sasuke went back home, Sasuke carrying a sleeping Sarada in his hands- holding her close to his chests. He laid her onto the bed and went to Sakura and his room.
"Come to bed Anata, you must be tired."
"Aa."
Sakura looped her hands around Sasuke's waist and placed a quick kiss on his lips before burying her face into his neck.
"Sarada really did a number on you didn't she?"
"Hn." Sasuke replied before snuggling closer to her.
"I have a lot of new-found respect for Kakashi sensei now, for handling us."
"Aa. But it is all worth it. When I taught her the fireball jutsu and she successfully did it, That smile on her face, It makes everything worth it."
Sakura finally understood what Kakashi sensei was talking about.
"It really is."
