Disclaimer: I do not own Fairy Tail. Hiro Mashima owns the series. This story was just made for fun.
Well, I'm finally ready to do this Lucy x Cana story! It's an Academy / Highschool AU! My 1st fanfiction, too! All characters are 18 years old or older, since this story will have lemons.
Prologue: The Fourth Date & Four-Month Anniversary
Lucy Heartfilia sat down at a table in one of Magnolia Town's cafes, and she had a soft smile on her face while waiting for someone who would meet her here for their fourth date. Lucy was going to have lunch with Mai Kinoyama, a third-year student at Magnolia Academy, and Mai had actually been the one to ask Lucy out on their first date that took place three months ago. Lucy started thinking about how she was a first-year student who agreed to go out with an upperclassman, and the girl who had her hair tied in a side ponytail on the left side couldn't just refuse the offer in front of a popular student who even had friends that watched the conversation occur.
Lucy's cheeks blushed light pink from thinking about how she and Mai would be alone now, which meant that Lucy could talk to such a beautiful woman without many people having their eyes fixated on them, and she began to giggle in a cute manner. Lucy had heard little bits of info from people such as Natsu Dragneel about how Mai had been saying that she really felt glad to have Lucy as a partner, and Lucy started to recall that today would be their four-month anniversary of being a couple. Lucy hadn't gotten Mai anything fancy, due to how she unfortunately had to spend so much time with finding several different ways to pay her apartment's monthly rent of seventy-thousand jewels, but she wondered if Mai would get her a present.
The presents that were exchanged between them over the past three months had only been cute items such as stuffed teddy bears or small bouquets of flowers, so Lucy felt like she'd need to explain to Mai about needing to buy her a gift later. Lucy felt disappointed that she couldn't give the anniversary gift to her girlfriend on their lunch date, especially since Mai was Lucy's first girlfriend, and Lucy started to pull something out of the left pocket of her long skirt that was in a white color. Lucy's skirt pocket contained a mint green stone shaped like a star, its edges being pale green while the stone lightly glittered in shades of green from rays of sunlight starting to touch it, and Lucy let out a soft sigh from placing the object on the table.
The item was Lucy's Celestial Fragment, which was the name she gave to the star-shaped item, and Lucy felt glad that she had found it on her first date with Mai. Mai had taken Lucy to one of Magnolia's most grassy areas for their picnic date, which turned out to actually be part of a hillside with several trees around, and putting her hand into a tree's hollow spot after seeing something glimmer allowed Lucy to claim the starry fragment as her personal treasure. Mai had only smiled at Lucy in that moment, her smile seeming very congratulatory, and Lucy enjoyed seeing her girlfriend's sweet smile. Upon hearing the cafe's bell in the doorway softly ring to signal that someone was coming in, Lucy turned her head to see a certain woman.
"Mai, you're here!" Lucy stated to her with a kind facial expression, as she put the fragment back into her skirt's pocket.
That prompted Mai to respond in a happy manner, "Lucy, you've already arrived! That's great."
"Now we can order some food and just chat, Mai." Lucy replied to her, as she watched her girlfriend walk over to the table.
After getting to the table and pulling out one of the light green chairs, Mai's purple eyes glanced at Lucy's skirt for a moment to see her personal treasure still glittering. Mai only kept her eyes on it for a few seconds, before making her eyes focus directly on Lucy's face, and Mai ignored the sound of two other people coming into the shop to sit at a table where their backs would be towards her. She just continued to smile at Lucy, who smiled back while continuing to blush. Seeing her girlfriend's cheeks blush in a strawberry shade of pink only made Mai gently stroke Lucy's face, before leaning over the table to give her a soft kiss on the cheek.
That was the first time Mai leaned over the table in a relationship to kiss anyone, since she thought that Lucy deserved something special, and this was also the first time where she'd give her girlfriend a nice view of her cleavage. Lucy felt her face blush more from how Mai's large breasts were directly in front of her, seeming like they were big enough to come out of the purple crop top that matched her dark violet yoga pants that had a floral design of lavender flowers on them. Lucy continued to just think about Mai, especially since this was now only the second time that Mai gave her a soft kiss.
Lucy got up from her seat to give Mai a gentle kiss on the lips as her response, viewing her to be the perfect girlfriend who made their chemistry in the relationship be wonderful. Mai would often make snarky jokes when Lucy seemed to happy, which made Lucy comically get annoyed while Mai would just smile in a joking manner. Lucy was still learning to detect when Mai was joking, due to the older girl being quite a great actress in Magnolia's Theater Club, and Lucy was glad that watching Mai's performances in plays also put a smile on her face. There was one play that made Lucy begin to get curious, though.
"Mai, what are you going to do after your final play at Magnolia Academy? Graduation is a month away, but what are your plans afterwards?" Lucy asked her in a calm manner, as kindness was in her cocoa brown eyes.
Mai simply replied while starting to have a relaxed facial expression, "Lucy, I think I'd just move in with you and do my best to get an acting job or a modeling job that could help me be in Sorcerer Magazine."
"That's wonderful, Mai! You'd be a fantastic model, and I'd be happy to be close to you for the chance of seeing your photo shoots while we're together! Just imagine all the praise and treasures that you also might get from being successful in a popular modeling agency!" Lucy replied with a pleased look on her face, picturing Mai being glamorous as she walked down a runway to pose for photographs.
Mai responded calmly while smiling back at Lucy, before faintly smirking for a few seconds at a certain thought, "Yeah, Lucy. Some treasure would be nice."
As Mai continued to look very calm at her thought about wanting to at least have Lucy's beautiful treasure, Lucy seemed more curious about her girlfriend. She silently wondered if she just saw Mai try to hide the faintest smirk on her face, but Lucy quickly let her mind move away from such a rude thought to have about her girlfriend. Mai never seemed like the type of girl who would ever be plotting anything, even if she wanted money, and Mai did tend to earn high amounts of money from her part-time job as a girl who did acting performances in cafes and some bars at nights.
She gently ran her fingers through her dark auburn hair that she kept down with perfectly straight bangs covering her forehead, and Mai thought about how her recent acting performance in a cafe involved reciting some lines that were from a play where some treasure needed to be found on an exploration of a place in Fiore named Mirage Lake. That place was heavily stated to not really exist, just like how Mai's chances of getting wealthy from acting performances didn't make her feel like she was anywhere close to having the lowest amount of cash that would make her be classified as being wealthy in Fiore.
Mai felt like there had to be a much faster way to earn high amounts of money, and she wondered if Lucy would be willing to just give her the Celestial Fragment. Mai would take it to the most extravagant jewelry shop, since that type of place would logically give her tons of cash for a literal gem of glimmering green beauty, but she'd first have to get it away from Lucy. That would probably be difficult, since Lucy was never seeming like she wanted to part ways with the gem, and Mai silently wished that she had found it instead. Mai also didn't want to openly steal it from Lucy, as that would hurt her reputation at Magnolia Academy. Therefore, she would just have to take her time and be patient.
30 minutes later...
Taking her time was also necessary for when she had to eat a mint ice cream sundae that she purchased from the counter to share the dessert with Lucy on their date, as Mai didn't feel like it would be wise to even eat a single scoop at a fast pace. She gently placed her spoon into the ice cream, before scooping up the cold treat with it, and Mai simply ate the ice cream at a slow pace. Lucy also ate some ice cream at a slow pace, not wanting to get a headache from consuming the ice cream too quickly. As she slowly brought a somewhat large scoop up to her lips, however, some of the ice cream began to fall from the silver spoon.
It landed in the crevice between Lucy's breasts, the coldness causing her to slightly shiver to the point where her breasts slightly bounced when she looked up from her dark red vest top to glance at Mai. The calmer woman merely watched some of the ice cream slip through the space between Lucy's large breasts, before picking up a stack of white napkins from the table, and she handed them to Lucy. Mai watched Lucy try to wipe up all of the ice cream, only to have some more fall from the spoon to be on her body.
That prompted Lucy to stop eating, and she proceeded to go to the cafe's bathroom. Mai watched Lucy walk away from the table, before looking at the cafe's light brown tiled floor that matched the dark green wallpaper, and seeing Lucy's scarlet red high heels go into a bathroom door made Mai become quite quiet. Her eyes glanced to the left and right sides for a moment, almost like she wanted to make sure that there weren't any nosy customers watching her actions, and she gently slid her chair back towards the two customers who had come in after she entered the cafe.
Mai turned around to face a girl who had wavy violet hair that matched her lavender sundress, and the other person was an orange-haired girl who had her hair in a bob style. That girl wore an orange jean jacket that matched her yellow shirt, and her skirt was also orange. She also wore a cocoa brown ribbon on the left side of her head, and that girl wore some dark brown flat shoes. They were just as brown as the mocha chocolate ice cream that she had been eating, and the girl slowly turned her chair around to face Mai. Her friend turned away from a slice of vanilla cake that was on her plate, and both of the girls watched Mai start to smile in a scheming manner.
"Well, I could see that treasure glittering. Kanami, it looks like a beautiful item that will get us some easy profits after selling it. Naomi, you were right to suggest that I ask out that first-year as a prank. This little joke just helped us seriously get rich." Mai told her friends with a cocky facial expression, before softly giggling at the thought of having several large bags of jewels around her.
Kanami Viora responded with a somewhat worried look on her face, thinking aloud with seriousness in her voice, "Actually, Theater Club President Mai, we're not going to be rich until we steal it from Lucy Heartfilia. Perhaps a passionate kiss can get her mind off of the treasure long enough for you to get it."
"You want me to keep kissing that first-year bimbo? For your information, the taste of her kisses thankfully gets overshadowed by the ice cream." Mai asked in a stern manner, narrowing her eyes as she started speaking in an annoyed manner.
"Mai, you're the one who agreed with me and Kanami on asking out Lucy. Hopefully, you'll soon be through with dating someone who can't even seduce you through a kiss." Naomi told her with a somewhat defensive facial expression, before attempting to have an optimistic smile on her face.
Upon hearing Naomi's words about Lucy not being able to seduce her, that started to make an idea take shape in Mai's thoughts. If Lucy's flirting never really made her feel interested, then maybe the reverse situation of Mai flirting with Lucy could make the opposite effect be created. If Mai could successfully flirt with Lucy and get her mind off of that little treasure, then Mai would feel glad that her fake love for Lucy wouldn't be going to waste. There would hopefully be a nice payoff at the end of this scheme, and Mai started to giggle at how this would definitely be a great day.
The day became even better from seeing Lucy be quick with coming out of the bathroom, which caused Mai to softly smile while briefly motioning with one hand movement for her friends to shift their attention back to their food. Kanami and Naomi were very quick with going back to eating their food, allowing Mai to feign a happy smile from seeing Lucy return to the table, and watching Lucy pick up the brown menu to think about anything else that she'd want to order caused Mai to really start thinking about what she'd do next with Lucy in her plan.
The plan seemed like it would be difficult, but Mai refused to let any possible obstacles stop her from getting her hands on that treasure. There was a way to get it that involved seduction, but Mai wouldn't try doing that in cafe. In fact, a restaurant was only somewhat romantic in comparison to other places in Magnolia Town. Mai began thinking about where she would take Lucy after their little lunch date, and there were actually two places where Mai would want to take her. Not only would it be nice to talk with Lucy in those places and make her display some more romantic feelings to get romance as a higher priority in her mind, but an extra stop at a clothing store made Mai faintly smile in a scheming way. That idea seemed quite fitting, especially for a clothing store, and it would also go well with the four-month anniversary of Mai making Lucy think they were truly in a romantic relationship.
How was Chapter 1? This is a Lucy x Cana highschool / Academy AU fanfic that I've been wanting to write for quite some time now, since no one has written a major highschool / Academy AU fanfic with this pairing, but several other things in real life kept me from doing it. Also, just to let you know, this is the prologue arc to Lucy and Cana's relationship. Cana will have her first appearance in the first official arc, and that's because these characters from the prologue need their moments of spotlight and their characters need fleshing out before Cana enters the story. Mai is an OC, just like her friends. Also, the aspects of Lucy's feelings about homosexual relationships will be addressed much later in one of the future arcs as the story progresses. This story will have lemons, too. That includes the prologue of this LuMai pairing, since Lucy is currently in love with Mai. I'll update as soon as possible. :)
