Six O'clock Dull

Serena narrows her eyes.

"You're late."

"Fashionably late," her charming rival clarifies, his arms splaying with splendor. "Da-dah duh-daaaaa! What do you think? Instant classic, right?"

She huffs in frustration, the ignorance on her neighbor's face about as evident as the clenched fist burrowing into her hip. "What do I think? I think that I told you to show up at five o'clock sharp—"

"Whoa, hey!" Calem blinks with a boyish grin, his hands in his pockets as he leans over her. "This is that dress I bought you for New Years, isn't it? Wow, you look great in it! Really great, actually! I might just fall in love all over again!"

"Tch, yeah, well," Serena shifts her thorny gaze to the streets of Lumiose. "You're not the only one who likes it. I had to turn down so many ogling jerks and idiots today. I'm about to spurn one more, as a matter of fact."

"Hmm," Calem hums. "My radar's not picking up any traces of jerkery around. I guess that officially makes me worth the wait, huh? You could have went with any one of them, but instead you stayed true and held back for yours truly! I'm touched, mademoiselle! Truly, truly—"

"Are you going to take me out or not?"

Calem manifests beside her, standing to attention like a proper boy scout as he laces their fingers together. "But of course! Sushi High Roller awaits... assuming our reservation is still valid!"

Serena sighs. "Something tells me they're going to take a page from your book on that one."

"The Book of Never Rushing Perfection? I'll have you know I've memorized every page front to back!"

"Yeah," she rolls her eyes and leans on his shoulder. "That one."
