Natsu couldn't understand it.
What was going on with his girlfriend, Erza Scarlet?
He flinched as he watched her glare at him as if he did something wrong. He didn't do anything bad, did he? Natsu couldn't understand why she was so upset. The strangest part about it was that this is that happened every time she came home from a job.
Natsu and Erza weren't dating for long, Natsu had declared his love to the redhead after Team Natsu had completed their 100 Year Quest to defeat the Dragon Gods. Much of the guild had congratulated the two and things went well, Natsu had become a full-fledged S class Mage while Erza had taken the mantle of becoming the Guild Master.
Being that Erza had taken the offer after the passing of Makarov Dreyar, she was always busy. Whether it be filling out the necessary paperwork for the guild, finding the job listings for the guild members, or attending the tedious meetings with the Magic Council, Erza had her plate full of responsibilities and Natsu understood that so he never attempted to distract her. He would wake up early to make the two of them breakfast and cook dinner while waiting for Erza's return, throughout the day, Natsu would hang out within the guild such as he did before.
It was disappointing that he couldn't spend the time with his beloved Erza, but he wanted to make sure he wouldn't hold her down so he bore with it. If no jobs were piquing Natsu's interest, he would relax at home while cuddling with a red dragon doll. It was a gift from Wendy Marvell and she had given it to the Fire Dragon Slayer as a remembrance to his foster father.
It was a nice gift and it had reminded Natsu of the good times he had with Igneel. There were times Erza would come home late and she would find Natsu asleep with it.
Natsu gulped as Erza kept glaring at him. Just what exactly did he do?! "Hey, E-Erza..." He stuttered out before clearing his throat. "Is there something wrong? Did something happen?"
Erza grunted as she crossed her arms and looked away. "Oh, it's nothing. I just didn't think my boyfriend would cheat on me."
'Cheat on you?!' Natsu thought frantically as his eyes widened. "What do you mean by that, Erza?"
"I meant what I said, Natsu." She spoke sternly as she narrowed her eyes at the pinkette. "You've cheated on me and I'm tired of it. You need to decide if you and I are going to continue our relationship."
"But wait, hold on!" Natsu got up from his chair and walked closer to his girlfriend. "Erza, you're not making any sense! I haven't cheated on you and I never will! Can we just talk this out?" He placed a hand on the redhead's arm which she quickly swatted away.
"You're not going to sway me, Natsu Dragneel." Erza then pressed her finger into Natsu's chest as she flattered deep into his eyes. "Make your choice."
Natsu stood there, both scared and confused at Erza's temperament. What was going on with Erza?! Why did she think that he was cheating on her? Natsu would never cheat on her, he loved her too much to do that to her!
"I told you once didn't I?" It was Natsu's turn to speak sternly now. "When a Dragon Slayer takes a mate, they stay true to them. They never think or look at another person, they love that one person fully and to the end of their days. Erza, you know I wouldn't cheat on you. Even if I wasn't a Dragon Slayer, I love you."
Erza puffed her cheeks as she turned around. "Well, if that was true, explain why you don't pay attention to me anymore. Whene'er I come home, you're with your special friend and you even sleep with them. What does that show?"
Natsu furrowed his brow in confusion. 'Special friend? What is she talking about? Lucy is busy working on a second novel, Wendy is busy being the Guild Doctor, everyone else is busy living their lives. Who could she-?' Natsu stood still as he backed up and stared at the dragon doll.
"Erza..." He turned to look at the redhead who was still looking away. "Are you telling me that the one I'm cheating on you with is the dragon doll Wendy gave me?"
Erza had a small blush dusting her cheeks as she finally looked into Natsu's eyes. "Yes, I am. Now make your decision: it's either me or that doll."
Natsu just stared at the redhead before he snickered and began laughing, making Erza blush harder as she furrowed her brow in anger. "Just what the hell is funny, Natsu Dragneel?!"
Having caught his breath, Natsu rubbed his eyes as he smiled. "I just didn't think the great Erza Scarlet would get jealous of a doll is all." He smiled as he watched Erza blush harder. "I can't believe you got so mad at me spending time with a doll, it's just a toy, why did you get so jealous?"
"It's because whenever I come home, I see you with it!" Erza exclaimed. "I know that I'm always busy with work but when I come home, I see the man that I love cuddling with some toy rather than cuddling with me. It's just so aggravating! I'm not mad at you having the toy, I'm mad at how you treat it and care for it more than you do with me!" Erza stepped closer and stared deep into Natsu's olive orbs. "I don't want to lose you to anyone when I just got you, even if that includes a silly doll."
Natsu sighed as he hugged Erza and pulled her in close. "You idiot." He chuckled as he kissed her on her cheek. "I'm not going anywhere nor am I going to let anyone take me, I'm yours till the day I die, Erza. I told you once and I'll keep telling you, I love you so much and I mean that." He then gave her a quick peck on her soft lips.
Erza smiled softly as she wrapped her arms around Natsu's neck. "Good because I'm not letting you go and I'm sure not going to let someone else take me either. I love you." Erza rested her head onto Natsu's chest before looking back up at him. "Just one thing-." She was quickly silenced as Natsu placed a finger on her lips.
"Don't worry, I won't be cuddling as much with the dragon doll." Natsu chuckled. "I promise to only sleep and hold it when I miss you, that OK with you?"
"That's good." Erza sighed as she smiled.
Natsu smiled back before letting go of Erza as he looked at the clock. "You need to go to bed, you have to be up early to go to those meetings with the council right?" As Natsu looked back at the redhead, his eyes widened as he was pulled into a passionate kiss. He stood there, taken away by this, and stood there as she pulled away with a seductive smirk on her face.
"I can always skip those meetings..." Erza smirked as she grabbed Natsu's hands, leading him to their bedroom. "Besides, I need to spend some quality time with my Dragon Prince. I need to make up for the lost time."
As Erza lead the Dragon Slayer, Natsu smiled as he kept Pace with the redhead. Having that dragon doll as a cuddle buddy was nice, but it was nothing compared to his Knight Queen.
'And it's gonna stay this way!' Erza thought as she tackled Natsu onto the bed, nuzzling into his warm chest. Smiling before leaning up and catching those sweet lips she loved so much.
