Saukaria Island was a paradise for most Pokémon. A tropical weather, abundant vegetation, and a rich, volcanic soil that made it possible to grow all kind of fruits and vegetables. A true paradise, one might say, if it wasn't for the fact that its inhabitant would receive quite the… unusual visitor from time to time. The ground would shake as a series of thuds got closer and closer. And then, a kaijū would appear – a giant Pokémon ranging from 70.5 to 10,228 feet in size. Said giant Pokémon would then either ignore the city or absolutely trash it 'for the hell of it', as they said.
That day wasn't different.
It started as a faint background noise, the one Aggron or Tyranitar would usually make when strolling. But then, it got louder. And louder. And LOUDER. When it finally dawned on the inhabitants of Mura Town what was happening, they immediately sought refuges in their humble wooden sheds. Some of them were daring enough to peek from their semi-open windows. A shadow covered the village… and all went quiet. Then, a loud thump! echoed through the village as a massive red paw slammed into the hearth at the center of the plaza, completely crushing it. The ground trembled as if it was in fear, mirroring Mura Town's inhabitants' feelings. The puddles on the ground from last night's rain reflected the image of a colossal, 500 feet-tall Zorua.
The kaijū looked around, disappointed.
"Well, this sucks". His booming voice made the sheds rattle. "I travel aaaaaaaall the way up to the innermost part of the island, and I can only find an abandoned village? Jeez, this truly is some bad luck…".
Hope sprouted in the heart of every single villager. Maybe the kaijū would leave the village, if he thought it was uninhabited; maybe this was all going to end without any of them dying and/or having to rebuild everything from scratch.
The Zorua then announced: "Weeeeeelllllllllllllll, since this village is abandoned, I'm sure no one will mind if I just knock down a few houses, right?". And just like that, he raised his left fore-paw and slammed it on the closest building, crushing it into dust and rubble and burying it under his paw. "…I know you're here. Get out. Run. Scramble. Scream". He gave the whole town beneath him a delighted smile. "Make this fun for me, alright?".
Panic kicked in.
All of Mura Town's dwellers immediately made a run for it and scattered, each one of them hoping the kaijū would chase someone else.
As he looked them run for their lives, the Tricky Fox Pokémon smiled. The thrill of being feared… it was amazing. Some people would just deal with him like he was a natural calamity, and he did not dislike it, but seeing Pokémon trying to escape from him… that was the reason he was glad to be a kaijū! Before he could start chasing any of the villagers, however, a rumbling cacophony shook the earth, causing him and everyone else to lose balance. A large shadow blotted out the sun, and a gust of wind brought the smell of coconut and honey.
The kaijū looked south, expecting to see a large cloud of ash rising from the nearby volcano. But Mount Kawama had never been quieter.
"Up here, small pal!", a voice gleefully announced, loud enough to make the villagers ears bleed a bit.
The Zorua looked up. And his eyes widened. His jaw dropped.
Above him, laying on the ground, there was the biggest Riolu he had ever seen. He was so big that clouds were getting sucked in his nose every time he inhaled. The Emanation Pokémon smiled and waved at him. Then, he raised his finger. And before anyone could do anything, the entire village – and part of the forest surrounding it – was smothered against a wall of soft, blue fur.
His legs raised and his tail wagging, the Riolu rested his head on his hand and chuckled, letting out a playful "Boop!".
