Chapter 1: Introduction

49...48...47...46...the numbers kept counting down. Katniss and I got into our battle stance. I was nervous. other kids got into their battle stance as well. 3...2...1...when the number reached 1, and the buzzer went off we were all running towards the supplies. how did I get here? well, let me explain.

It all started when I met this girl named Katniss Everdeen from District 12. District 12 is considered to be one of the lowest districts there are. there aren't a lot of very nice things as they are in the higher distrects. for example,

Districts one and two and three are one of the richer districts while districts 10, 11, and 12 are more of the poorer districts. I was on a mission with my family, team RWBY, and team JNPR. we got lost and we ran into district 12. Katniss and her family,

took us in and decided to help us out. I am very thankful Katniss and her family helped us. Katniss is my best friend since the day I met her. "Hey, Lana I'm going hunting,

wanna come with me?" Katniss said. "Sure, hang on a second" I said. I grabbed some bow and arrows. Katniss is teaching me how to hunt with bows and arrows.

"Where are you going?" A voice said. "Ah!" I cried and jumped with fright. I turned around to see my wives, Yang and Salem standing in front of me. "Damn it Yang"

I said. "What's with the bows and arrows?" Yang said. "Oh uh, I'm going to hunt with Katniss" I said. "I wanna catch a deer" I said. "Okay, just be carful" Yang said.

"Be back before sunset" Salem said. "Okay" I said. I gave them both a kiss and then I headed outside with Katniss. Katniss led me into the woods. when we got to the woods,

we found a deer. I grabbed my bow and Arrow. I had my arrow ready. "See where you're aiming?" Katniss whispered. I nodded. "Okay, now shoot" Katniss said. I was,

about to shoot when I was startled by a new voice. "What are you going to do with that when you girls kill it?" A voice said. this voice belonged to Gale, another one of,

my best friends, also Katniss's. "Gah!" Katniss and I cried. I shot the bow but the deer ran away. "Damn you, Gale! I was about to get my first kill!" I whined.

Gale was laughing at our reaction. "It's not funny" I said. "What are you gonna do with that 100-pound deer when you kill it catnip?" Gale said. Gale calls Katniss catnip for short and Gale calls me super because I love superheroes. "It's reaping day. this place,

is crawling with peacekeepers" Gale said. "We were gonna sell it to some peacekeepers" Katniss said. "Of course you were. like you don't sell to all peacekeepers" Gale said. "It was the first deer we have seen in a year. now I have nothing, okay"

Katniss said. Gale threw a rock and some birds were startled. I gasped and Katniss and I quickly took out our Bows and Arrows. We all giggled. "I'm teaching Lana how to hunt" Katniss said. "That's cool" Gale said. We then heard a whirring noise. we looked up and saw a ship in the sky.

"What's that?" I said. "Come on, we have to go" Gale said. I put my weapons away. Gale guided us out of the woods. we hid in some bushes and waited for the ship to pass.

we kept walking until we got to a meadow. "What was that ship for?" I said. "Today is Hunger Games day" Katniss said. "Hunger Games?" I said confused. "Yes.

every year they host the hunger games. one boy and one girl from every district must compete. they randomly choose. we have to be there" Katniss said. "Okay" I said,

nervously. "Don't worry, it's a low chance they will pick you or catnip" Gale said. I nodded. I felt a bit better knowing it will be less of a chance I will get chosen.

"What if they did? just one year. what if everyone just stopped watching?" Gale said. "They won't Gale" Katniss said. "What if they did? What if we did" Gale said.

"Won't happen. your root and your favorites. you cry when they get killed. it's sick" Gale said. "Gale" Katniss said. "if no one watches then they won't have a game.

it's as simple as that" Gale said. "Fine, laugh at me" Katniss said. "I'm not laughing" Gale said. "We could do it you know? Take off and live in the woods. it's what we,

do anyways" Gale said. "They'd catch us. they would cut our toungs or worse. we wouldn't make it five miles" Katniss said. "No, I'd get five miles. I'd go that way" Gale said. "I have Prim, Lana, you, and your brothers" Katniss said. "They can come too" Gale said.

"Prim and Lana in the woods?" Katniss said. Gale chuckled. "Or maybe not" Gale said. "I'm never having kids" Katniss said. "Same, I don't want kids eaither" I said. "I might. If I didn't live here" Gale said. "But you do live here" Katniss said.

"I know, but if I didn't, oh I forgot" Gale said. Gale then reached into his bag. Gale grabbed some bread and handed it to us. "Here" Gale said. Katniss and I gasped. "Oh my god, is this real?" Katniss said as she broke the bread in half and smelled it. "yeah, Better be.

it cost me a squirrel" Gale said. "Want some?" Katniss said as she handed me some. "Thanks" I said. I took the bread. "Happy Hunger Games" Gale said. "And may the odds,

better be in your favor" katniss said. "Cheers" I said. We began eating the bread. it was so damn good. "Holy shit this is fucking delicious" I said as I was chowing down,

my bread. "Glad you like it super" Gale said with a smile. "How many times is your name in?" Katniss said. "Forty-two. guess the odds are in my favor" Gale said. after,

I finished my bread Katniss stood up. "We should get going now Lana. I have some errands to run if you wanna come with" Katniss said. "Sure" I said.

we said goodbye to Gale as we walked to town.
