This is the offering to Kadam Week 2016 prompt 4: Tailoring (/Laundry/DryCleaning)
Adam walked into the tailor shop unsure. He had no clue as to why Amily kept insisting that his formal black suit wasn't good enough for the ceremony. Nor why she was so peculiar about where to go.
She knew very well, or at least she should, how Adam's means were not exactly reduced, but they neither allowed for the purchase of such luxury item… At the same time apparently she was soo invested in him going to that exact place that she was also willing to foot the bill.
As a starving actor, who was Adam to refuse his friend the joy to purchase for him, the luxury of one of the best bespoken suit in town.
It was the kind of kind offers one simply couldn't refuse.
Once entering the little shop, that seemed more like a studio upon second look, Adam heard one of the most wonderful voice he ever heard, and walking properly inside he announced himself "Hello there, I believe I've got an appointment booked."
The Tailor came out dressed up in period clothes. The only thing missing to mistake him for a nobleman walking out of a historical novel or a portrait was the lack of top hat.
But the way the clothes hugged the slender figure of the man in front of him had left Adam completely speechless.
And with clearly less brainpower than he thought possible, to the point that when he was addressed by the vision standing in front of him, Adam had to blink cursing himself internally and feeling stupid.
As he had to ask again what the man had said "I beg your pardon I was admiring you so much that I lost what you said, if you would be so kind as to repeat yourself?"
That provoked a smile on the tailor's face "I simply introduced myself Mr Crawford, I'm Kurt Hummel, and I'm afraid you are slightly early. Your booked time is in fifteen minutes, and at the moment I'm not ready to attend to you right away. Is it ok for you to wait a little bit or do you need me to rush you ahead?"
Adam looked still rather enchanted by Kurt "I simply didn't want to risk wasting your time arriving late. So I thought it prudent to arrive early, I can wait till you're ready to have me…"
Kurt smirked and raised an eyebrow at Adam's words. Weighting whether the double meaning had been intentionally flirty, or if it was just Kurt's appreciation for the blond man making itself apparent. So knowing this was probably more than just a friend of a friend, he tested his theory saying "And will you allow me to have you any way I want?"
The tone was flirty and Adam blushed pleasantly surprised to have caught the attention of such a handsome man.
All of sudden Adam suspected that he was being set up, and knowing Amily that might have very well been the case, so he had to ask "My apologies if this comes out completely wrong and from the left field, but there's any chance mayhaps that you know Amily Mc Laideine?"
Kurt smiled and nodded, "Indeed I do know the lady kind ser… You know, that's the reason why you actually are standing here in my workshop. Usually my clients come to my showroom, and we do everything there. Where they can actually see finished examples of my works, and I have access to a range of ready made mock ups, so they could actually have an idea of how the model chosen will look on them."
Adam blinked and took a better look around. Noticing for the first time that indeed the place looked cramped with fabrics and other material, but Adam had assumed that it was how a tailor shop looked like… Paying more attention to the garments on the mannequins he could see what looked like a half made suit that looked part of a three pieces, and a gown or three not complete but very close to be so.
Adam blushed deeply and stammered a little embarrassed "Oh sorry I hadn't realised, I hmm I don't really get many occasion in which I enter a bespoken tailor's shop. I wouldn't really know. Even for my job I just go stand on a stool and let our costumer come, take the measures they need until they send me on my merry way"
Kurt chuckled at that, not at all offended "Lemme guess actor hmm?"
Adam nodded and looked nervously around not sure how to take that "yeah I'm an actor, guess talking about costumers gave it away?"
Kurt smiled kindly and nodded "Well that certainly did give a hint. But as you were rightly suspecting, I know Amily and she had tried to hook us up on a date for quite some time now… Since I broke up with my ex boyfriend to be precise."
Adam snorted and nodded sagely "I guess she finds the thought of two of her friends being all lonely and alone so offending that she feels the need to play matchmaker. I'm so sorry for that, I tried to tell her not to set us up, that sometimes a guy just needs a pause from putting himself out there."
Kurt nodded in agreement "True true, but at the same time she did manage to have us meet anyway. And she wanted that so bad that she was willing to pay me to fit you in historical clothes. So kind Sir are you ready to submit yourself to me?"
Adam nodded eagerly, following Kurt behind the screen to stand on the stool Kurt helped him on.
He tried to relax and let Kurt do his job.
Kurt looked at the poor man and said with a teasing wink "I can see you look a little frayed at the edge, I guess it's your lucky day that you're in the hands of a Tailor"
In all honesty Kurt simply wanted to help Adam relax and had no pondered anything beyond having the blond man with a decidedly sexy accent do anything more than just relax and maybe smile.
Adam chuckled starting to relax at the pun and couldn't resist the chance of the easy counter back "Indeed I'm lucky you can suit me up so well"
Kurt was barely able to contain the snort as he grinned cheekily "Oh Zip it, I can sew what you're doing here"
Adam sniggered, he was starting to see why Amily thought they might actually work together as a couple. For certain his ex never laughed nor was he ever willing to engage Adam into an all out pun war… He wondered just how far he could push the flirtatious verbal sparring with Kurt…
"I'm just saying that if your hands are as heavy as they look, I'd love to help you out and hold them for you..."
That made Kurt's face flush up with a lovely blush before he gained back his footing and answered back "Well your lips look a little wrinkled, would you mind if I were to press them for you?"
Kurt was totally aiming to receive an equally endearing reaction and feeling oh so happy when Adam did indeed blushed a little too.
They were both pleasantly surprised when Adam kept up the game, while Kurt was otherwise very professional while carrying on his duties "Suit yourself, I'm more than happy to surrender myself to your professional opinions"
As Kurt was almost done with the measuring grinned intrigued and fired back quickly "Really? And here I was more hoping you'd prefer to check out the fly front of my new pants"
Adam grinned almost convinced to have the winning card in their game of pun, so he said flirty while wiggling his eyebrows "Well if you're asking me to be your sewing buddy I'd love to, cos you see I have got a trained set of hands."
Kurt helped Adam get down the stool and stood inside Adam's personal space before leaning forward and whisper into his ear "Are those french darts or are you just happy to see me?"
At that Adam couldn't hold it anymore and his grin transformed into a full belly laugh "I bow to the Master, you win, there's no comeback I can offer you after that"
Kurt grinned looking extremely smug about the victory and made a flourished bow in thanks before he said with a hint of hope in his tone "So does my winning prize consist in you taking me out on that blind date we are not going to let Amily know we went to?"
Adam's smile was genuine when he nodded and said just as hopeful "If you'd like that, it would be my pleasure."
