Another day of sunny and exceptionally hot holiday this year was beginning. The sun, which was lazily rising on the horizon, was slowly starting to illuminate the area, causing its rays to reach Penny's room, who was sleeping with the window open due to the fact that it was extremely stuffy at night. The bright rays that illuminated the entire room caused Penny to wake up letting out a yawn. Hearing Penny's sound, Bolt also woke up and started yawning, just like his owner. The dog always slept on the floor, next to his mistress watching over her in case of danger. Although he was used to not being her protector (although Penny told him this all the time so he wouldn't be sad), he liked to tell himself this.

"Good morning Bolt," the girl giggled while patting the dog on the head and behind his right ear. Bolt barked cheerfully bringing his head closer to Penny's hand.

"Good doggie, jump in here" she invited on Penny's bed. Bolt hearing the offer jumped on top of her licking her face which made her laugh.

"Hahah, good doggie. What do you want to do today? " asked Penny when Bolt had finished licking her. The dog looked around the room until he stopped at the door, or more specifically the dresser that stood next to the door. On it was Bolt's leash.

"You want to go out for a walk, I guess?" asked Penny, to which Bolt barked.

"Okay, let's get up and eat something first," the girl communicated, after which she and her friend got out of bed. She and Bolt walked down the stairs to head for the kitchen. By the chimney in the living room, Mittens was sleeping, and on the couch, in front of the TV, slept the hamster, Rhino. While Bolt and Penny were in the kitchen, Mittens woke up and the first image she saw was Bolt and Penny already eating their breakfast. The dog was eating in his bowl next to his partner.

"Good morning" said Bolt immediately when he noticed that Mittens was awake.

"Hi" replied the cat as she approached her bowl where fresh and tasty food was already placed.

"How did you sleep?" asked Bolt as he swallowed his last meal of food. He then walked over to the other smaller bowl to drink some fresh water.

"I haven't slept like this in a long time... In fact, I can't remember when I've rested so well" replied Matilda arching her back. Bolt smiled at the sight. He was glad that Marlena was also happy.

"Rhino probably is too, since he has TV and can my... Acrobatics...watch" thought Bolt jokingly as he saw the glass ball and inside it the hamster that was snoring quietly.

"'I see you're up now Penny' a woman's voice came from the stairs, it was Penny's mother who was also awake. Bolt greeted her with a loud bark.

"Good morning Bolt, nice to see you all" replied Mama Penny.

She had said it quite often, Bolt had been found about a month ago, but that might be because she herself was going through the loss of their favourite pet hard.

"Penny, remember that today at 8 p.m. you have a shoot for the show" the woman reminded while brewing herself a cup of tea.

"I remember mum " replied Penny finishing her breakfast. She put the plate in the dishwasher then headed for the cupboard.

"Are you going somewhere?" the woman asked surprised.

"With Bolt for a walk. Shall we?" the girl asked in a slow motion, reaching for the leash that lay on the bookcase next to her.

"Won't you be cold?" asked the woman.

"No, I'll dress warmly"

"Well then go, but be back within two hours" agreed the woman.

"Thanks mum" thanked Penny, then opened the door wide. She took a leash from the bookcase and put it on her dog after which they both left the house. Even though it was only morning, you could already feel what only just arrived. It wasn't yet so warm to go with just a t-shirt, but it was enough to put on a sweatshirt that the walk wasn't cold.

"So what are we going to the park?" suggested Penny, at which Bolt barked loudly.

"Well you don't have to shout we'll get there" laughed Penny heading towards the park which was not far from their house. The walk to the park took about 20 minutes at a normal pace. Penny and Bolt were in no hurry, so they walked very slowly. They went to the park regularly, every few days. After all, it was summer holidays, they could do what they wanted, without restrictions. The park was a very good place to rest and relax. Soon they both noticed a big iron gate, which was the main entrance to the park, which stretched along streets in different directions, on which benches where they could sit down. Although it was early in the morning, there were already several individuals strolling through the alleys, mostly with their pets.

"Bolt, try not to run straight to Johnatan" asked Penny. Johnatan was the dog of her mum's friend, who also came to the park every day to walk her pet.

"Bolt!" came a familiar voice from a distance for Bolt. The dog immediately associated who was calling him.

"Johnathan!" shouted Bolt, then without listening to Penny's request he started running towards him.

"Bolt!" shouted the girl as she felt Bolt pull out of her arms. Soon she couldn't cope and had to run after her dog until, she ran into the boy, causing them both to fall to the ground. Bolt didn't even pay attention just kept running ahead.

"Sorry, it's my dog hehe..." laughed Penny nervously getting up from the boy she had fallen on. He was similar in age to her, with short brown hair, a young, delicate complexion and chocolate eyes. Before he could get up he had to shake his head out of the sand that had flown into his hair.

"Nothing's wrong... I'm Lucas" the boy said with a smile shaking hands for the girl once he stood up.

"Penny... I'm Penny..." replied the girl shaking her hand.

Meanwhile, Bolt was having fun with his friend chasing each other around the park.

"Strange, Penny didn't unhook the leash from you?" said Johnatan at one point.

"After all she is..." said Bolt looking around, but he couldn't find her anywhere with his eyes.

"She is..."

"She's over there... She's talking to someone" said Johnathan pointing with his paw at the couple talking.

"Who is that?" asked Bolt.

"I don't know, probably some new guy...no one's ever seen him here" replied Johnathan.

"Mhm" sighed Bolt looking at the young couple for a moment.

"well... So, shall we play along?" suggested Johnathan getting ready to run.

"Yeah..." replied Bolt trying not to pay attention to Penny talking to the boy, then returned to playing with his friend.

"So where do you live?" asked Lucas of Penny at one point.

"Not far, literally twenty minutes from the Park, do you?"

"Well... I moved here two days ago, before that I lived in New York"

"Quite a long way" pointed out Penny.

"A bit... But I have a feeling I'm going to like this neighborhood"

"I'm sure you will."

"Why don't you show me around, show me what's where?"

"I'd love to... But not today, I still have shooting for the series and I was already just about to go home... You know, I need to get ready... "

"Wait... You're Penny? The girl what's protected by the dog?" asked a surprised Lucas. Penny laughed, then called out to Bolt.

"The lady is calling me I have to go" said Bolt goodbye to his friend, then walked over to Penny looking at the boy who was talking to Penny at the same time.

"This is my super dog" said Penny stroking Bolt.

"Wow, amazing to meet you guys! No more stopping you guys, have a great day!"

"Have a nice day Lucas" said Penny goodbye, then she put the leash on her dog and left the park.
