Sakura sat at her usual spot in the dining hall, gloomily stirring her protein coffee as her breakfast went cold.
"Good morning." Taka said, approaching the table and taking a seat across from her. "Why the long face?"
"Oh, it's nothing." She answered with a shrug. "It's just...prom's coming up, and I still haven't gotten the courage to ask Hina to go with me."
"Still? You two have been going out forever."
"I know. But this feels...big, you know? I don't want to mess it up."
Taka nodded. "I know how you feel. I've been wanting to ask Mondo out forever."
"You should do it!" She encouraged.
"You first." He added, raising an eyebrow teasingly.
"Well...why don't we do it together?"
"What do you mean?"
"Mondo and Hina are still in their rooms, right? What if we run to the warehouse, grab them some flowers, and ask them to prom right now?"
"O-okay! Let's do it!"
Moments later, Sakura and Taka stood frozen in the hallway facing the dorm rooms. Taka held a bouquet of lilies, and Sakura a bouquet of donuts.
"Well, it's now or never right?" Sakura asked, taking a deep breath.
"Right, let's do this."
They split up and each went up to their prospective date's doors.
Sakura knocked gently on Hina's door, which opened to reveal her girlfriend dabbing her forehead with a towel. Her eyes lit up when she saw Sakura.
"Hey, you! Good morning. You came just in time, I just finished my warmups."
"Hina, there's something I wanted to ask you."
"Sure, anything!"
Sakura pulled the bouquet of donuts out from behind her back, revealing it to Hina (who squealed delightedly).
"Will you...go to the prom with me?"
"Of course I will!"
Hina leaned in and kissed Sakura on the cheek before taking the bouquet carefully in her arms. "And we can have these as a post-workout snack!"
"That's assuming you'll save any for me." Sakura teased as Hina's face flushed red.
"I'll save one for you, I promise. Or...maybe a half. I'll make sure you'll get at least a bite, anyway."
Sakura laughed before meeting Hina's eyes with a fond expression. "I can't wait to go to prom with you."
"Me too." Hina whispered as she wrapped her in a quick hug. "I'll see you in a few for our usual workout?"
"I wouldn't miss it."
Hina shut her bedroom door with a shy smile, and Sakura felt her shoulders relax.
She made her way back to the hallway, where Taka was standing with his eyes bulging and his mouth agape. He didn't even acknowledge her as she approached him.
"Hey!" She said. "How'd it go with Mondo?"
"H-he ripped the flowers out of my hand and called me an S.O.B." He answered, his voice wavering.
"Oh, Taka, I'm so sorry." Sakura said, placing a sympathetic hand on his shoulder.
"Sorry?!" Taka repeated, confused. "Afterwords he said, 'Hell yeah I'll go with you, ya big moron! I was waiting for you to ask!'"
"I've got a date!" He continued, pumping his fist in the air. "How'd it go with Hina?"
"She said yes." Sakura replied, a blush creeping onto her cheeks.
"Attagirl! I knew she would."
"You know, it's funny, I don't know why we were even worried."
"Yeah..." Taka mused, as both of them drifted apart with giddy smiles on their faces.
