She had seen Kathy on that gurney getting into that ambulance, and the only thing she thought of was him. Oh god, did that make her a bad person? She just knew he had to be here. She didn't see him but she could feel him.

"Liv!"

Oh god, oh god.

"Elliot", she said so low she almost wasn't sure she had said anything at all.

She hadn't see or spoken to this man in ten years and yet here he was standing in front of her. She was so mad at him and still so in love with him at the same time.

"What happened?" Olivia asked.

"I'm not sure, she was getting the car, and it just exploded. I need to go."

And just like that he was gone again.

--

She didn't know what to do or what to think.

Elliot was here. In New York. Just a few minutes away from her. Did she follow him to the hospital or just stay put? Did she call and ask about Kathy? What was she supposed to do when the air was just knocked out of her lungs?

----

Of course she had shown up to the Emergency Room. She would be anywhere he needed her to be. Anytime. What a damn fool I am, she thought to herself, the man just up and left me and here I am.

Their kids were there, and god how grown up each of them had become. It just reminded her of how much time had passed.

She really felt for them, and though she wasn't much of a praying woman she prayed for them, and Kathy, and him.

She really liked Kathy, and never would've crossed a line with Elliot, but she couldn't help she had fallen in love with him all those years ago. And even though no one knew of her feelings, she hated herself for loving him.

--

Hours Later.

"You were the single most important person in my life, and you just disappeared," Olivia stated. She hadn't wanted to have this conversation, not here, not now. But he insisted. Not with his words, but with his eyes. Those eyes that she swore glared into her soul once upon a time. God how she had missed him.

"I know," he said, jolting her from the memories of them. "I know. I was afraid that if I heard your voice I wouldn't have left." He said sadly.

She seen the tears forming in his eyes, and it broke her heart to see them. She had forgiven him for leaving because she knew that was what he needed. But she was still so angry that he had abandoned her. Forgotten her.

And almost like he could hear her thoughts he said "I never stopped thinking about you, Olivia. I'm sorry I didn't say goodbye."

Before she had time to respond, the doctor came in.

Kathy was awake.

--

"Just like old times," Kathy laughed out softly.

That made Olivia smile. Kathy was a good woman. A good wife. A great mother.

She didn't deserve this.

"It's good to see you awake, Kathy" Olivia said.

--

Hours Later

She had received the phone call in her office and she raced back down to that hospital.

She saw him standing with his back to her staring into the room his wife had occupied.

"Elliot," she breathed out, "I'm so sorry."

He turned around and the look in his eyes broke her to her very core. The man she loved was crying for the woman he loved.

He didn't say anything, just grabbed her, and hugged her. Forfeiting and surrendering. He had nothing left to give.

Of course she'd hug him back. It was what she had done. And would do forever. Be there.

"I'm so sorry," she said and she felt him shudder with sadness.

Kathy was gone.

And Olivia still couldn't help but only think of him.
